Family-friendly holiday rentals in Backbarrow

Had an excellent weekend away celebrating our mums 80th Birthday! Everything there for all the different age ranges from 15-80 year olds always something to do! Host was always at the end of a text for any assistance that was needed! The welcome basket was a lovely surprise! Will definitely recommend & use again. x

The location was amazing and the views were spectacular. This home was exactly what it said on the tin. We were all blown away by it and had beautiful weather to make the most of the outdoor area. The only thing we did notice was that there wasn’t enough wine glasses & champagne flutes. Not ideal when there was 8 women so we had to use half pint glasses. We could have also done with more dishwasher tablets to last the stay. Apart from that it was perfect. Thank you.

A really special place to stay. We had three families and all really enjoyed our stay. We took the option of the caravan too; everything was spotless, well-equipped and very comfortable. Between us there were five kids and there was plenty of space for them to roam and explore. The hot tub and sauna were great too.

My friend and myself spent a couple of days at Little Nook for some peace and quiet. We absolutely loved the place. so pretty and relaxing. Everything we needed was on hand, including a fully equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds, spacious living area, and the hot tub was just wonderful! Sharon and Ralph were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended. We will definitely return.

We had a great time at Canny Brow Barn. Everything you could possible think of or need for your stay, Ian and Anne-Marie had thought about, from a cocktail shaker to cleaning products to games. Would highly recommend!

We stayed here with some friends to get together for a birthday. We loved the cozy games room and spent our evenings together watching movies all cozied up with blankets. The host was absolutely lovely and her dogs were super cute! It was the perfect quiet break that we needed to enjoy the company of your favourite people. Thank you so much!

Just got back from a 2 night stay, it was lovely and peaceful and definitely relaxing 😌 While recovering from a broken ankle we needed to get away....was going stir crazy. Richard was such a lovely host, very helpful from my first enquiry with him. He was honest about the ground and steps up, he was great from the moment we met him. Honestly, it was awesome, we are definitely going back, when my ankle is heeled because the views and surrounding areas are beautiful and I can't wait to be able to walk them. The dogs also loved it....1 of them is very nervous and reactive, he was calm and loved it! Thanks Richard and family.... If you like peaceful, quiet, views, walks, hot tub and calming space....book it x

Peter and Hilary were very friendly and approachable with good local knowledge. Woodpecker cottage was beautiful it was spotless and had everything we could possibly have wanted, the welcome pack was perfect and much appreciated as we had traveled so far. The village was lovely and quiet, well situated to visit the Lake District and the Pennines. The village pub was a two minute walk and served good food, the local shop was a five minute drive away and was well stocked. On Hilary’s recommendation we tried the bakery in a nearby village it was fantastic. Thank you Peter and Hilary for a fabulous stay in a wonderful cottage.

I can’t recommend Will and Giles’ place enough. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. The information sent prior to arrival was brilliant, the cottage was much bigger than we expected and it’s in an amazing location right by Coniston. The place was spotless and had some lovely touches. We will be back!

We have just spent 3 nights at Herdy View Lodge and were extremely pleased with our choice. The property is in a quiet location in a lovely setting. Several restaurants are in easy distance and Penrith, Ullswater and Keswick are short drives away. The lodge itself is lovely and kitted out with everything we needed. There is also an information folder which was really useful. All in all it was perfect for our requirements and we would certainly book there again. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Myself, my wife, kids and dogs had a fantastic stay in high Bentham. What a great location, plenty to do which ever way you like to turn out of the cottage. We’d like to thank Lee for the great stay, which was clean and as described in the listing. Plenty of room for us all over the 3nights 4days. If we’re ever back in the area, we will be contacting Lee again that’s for sure!

Lovely property! The view is absolutely stunning! Great location - many pubs near by, children’s park and walks to do from the property and only 30 min drive from Buttermere lake ‘which is a must’! Perfect for our 2 year old, she loved running around the garden and seeing the view & sheep! Great communication with host. Would 100% recommend!

Molly and Dean's s place was just perfect for my daughter and I - a beautiful, comfortable "home from home" place! We had everything we needed and the place was filled with lovely thoughtful items that we both really appreciated. The kitchen had all the necessities and the addition of tea/coffee/milk/bread/butter/jam/hot chocolate felt like a very lovely gesture. The location was just what I hoped for and we had a great time! We will definitely be back to the Hill View! Thank you very much, Molly and Dean!

Wonderful stay in a peaceful stunning log cabin surrounded by wildlife with views of the western fells. We could see sheep and lambs grazing from the cabin windows, birds feeding and swooping down giving us a show morning and evening and rabbits running in the meadow opposite. The lodge was warm, inviting, clean and spacious. We walked in the fells during the day and lit the log burner at night, so cosy. Our two terriers loved gazing out and running on the beaches. We visited Seascale beach, Wastwater lake, Drigg beach and sand dunes, and Ravenglass. Nothing to far at all from the log cabin. Thank you so much for a perfect short break! Clare & Tom

Annie’s Weaving Room is a fantastic place to stay. Location is perfect for accessing the surrounding area. Only a short walk into Bowness itself yet location is very peaceful. The accommodation was spotless throughout and had absolutely everything we needed for our stay. Can’t recommend enough.

We stayed at Simon and Belinda's place for a week and it was exactly what we needed. Fantastic location for walks and food. The Wainwright's Inn is only 0.2 miles away. Great food and local ales on your doorstep. The cottage is cosy, the kitchen is well equipped and the information provided was very thorough and useful. There are some books in the house they have prepared to show various walks and local recommendations. We did some of these walks and our 5 year old enjoyed every second! We took advantage of the leisure facilities at The Langdale. This was a great addition to the cottage! Really recommend if you want a place near to town locations, walks and local pubs/cafés/restaurants.

Great lodge situated right at the top of the site, within 2 minutes of a small walk with panoramic views of the valleys. Bedding was super soft & so were the towels, comfy bed, great sleep. Beautiful surroundings to wake up to and sit outdoors with a coffee listening to the birds. Dog friendly! Comfortable sofa! Lots of utensils and plates.

Really enjoyed our stay, we were celebrating my Mother’s 90th birthday and had other family members staying in other lodges around the park. Beautiful scenery and great location. We’ll definitely be visiting again.

This place was beyond our expectations. Immaculately presented, super clean, tidy, jaw dropping views. I can't fault it in any way and I can't rate it highly enough. Will definately look to return in the future. Stunning!

I had a really amazing stay at Angie’s place. The pool was great for the kids and it was an added treat to be able to use the spa and gym. The surroundings were stunning and people on the park really friendly. Everything in the Airbnb was so thoughtful and in the right place with the right number of coat hooks for all the gear. Would defo return

I had an absolutely blissful stay at Johns place. It was wonderful to be surrounded by so many lovely animals, and the views from inside the hut are incredible. A very special spot.

House was as described, beautiful setting with wonderful views of the hills and mountains. Rooms are spacious with comfy beds and bathrooms are nicely finished with good showers. Kitchen is a good size and has all required implements. A great location for exploring the central lakes and soaking up all that Ambleside has to offer.
