"De Gulle pracht" Holiday home, Friesland

Our cozy vacation cottage, originally was an old stable that we (Caroline and Jan) converted together, with lots of love and respect for the old details and materials, into this "Gulle Pracht". Through a private driveway with parking, you reach the terrace with the spacious garden, a lawn with surrounding tall trees, where you can enjoy. Through the two French doors, you step into the bright and cozy living room with the white old beams and a fully equipped open kitchen. There is wireless internet available, TV and DVD. Because of the ceiling in the living room that has been removed, beautiful light falls in from the skylights and you have a view of the roof structure with the old round hoods. The beds are located on top of the two lofts. The comfortable double bed is accessed by an open staircase. The other loft, where a third or fourth bed can possibly be made, is only accessible by flexible guests via a ladder. It is not suitable for small children because of the danger of falling, but older children find it exciting to sleep there. Please note, the two lofts share the same large open space. Under the old beams, you can sleep peacefully, where only the sound of rustling trees, whistling birds or your deliciously snoring bedmate will be heard. The room is heated by central heating, but also only the wood-fired stove can heat the cottage comfortably. You will be provided with enough wood from us to start a cozy fire. Through an old stable door in the living room, you come to the bathroom with beamed ceiling and underfloor heating. The bathroom has a good shower, double sink and toilet. With its inlaid mosaics and all kinds of funny and old details, this space is also a feast for the eyes. There are two bicycles available for nice trips in the wider area (Harlingen, Franeker Bolsward). We may want to drop you off in Harlingen for a crossing to Terschelling. You can leave the car in our yard for a while. We, ourselves, live in the farmhouse which is in the same yard. We are available for help, information and advice for fun trips in our beautiful Friesland. Your cottage and our farmhouse are separated by our garden and the big old barn (with pool table), so we both have our own space and privacy. Kimswerd, located on the eleven city route is a small, quiet and beautiful village where our Frisian hero "de Grutte Pier" was born and lived. He still watches over us, in petrified form, at the beginning of our little street, next to the centuries-old Church, which is very much worth visiting as well. You can do your shopping in Harlingen, the supermarket is a fifteen minute bike ride away. The old port of Harlingen is 10 km from our cottage. Kimswerd is located just across the Afsluitdijk. From there, follow the signs N31 Harlingen/Leeuwarden/Zurich and take the first exit at Kimswerd, 1st right at the traffic circle, 1st right again at the next traffic circle, straight ahead at the intersection, across the bridge and immediately take the first left (Jan Timmerstraat). At the beginning of this street, next to the church, stands the statue of the Grutte Pier. We live in the farmhouse behind the church, Jan Timmerstraat 6, first wide gravel path on the right. - For small children, sleeping on the loft without a fence is not advisable because of the danger of falling. It's just fun for big kids, the loft is accessible by a ladder. Please note, it is 1 large open space upstairs with no privacy.

De Oude Smederij

Genieten en relaxen op het Friese platteland? Dat kan bij ons in De Oude Smederij dit was voorheen een smederij maar is geheel verbouwd tot een comfortabele vakantiewoning. De Oude Smederij staat in een agrarisch gebied aan de rand van het dorp Arum (aan de Elfsteden route) en ligt centraal tussen Harlingen (aan de Waddenzee met veerdiensten naar Vlieland en Terschelling), Franeker (Planetarium en kaatsmuseum), Bolsward (Broerekerk) en Makkum, gelegen aan het IJsselmeer met boulevard en strand.

Are you looking for a house that is both special and very beautiful for your holiday? Then choose this atmospheric old village church. The church is beautiful, spacious, stylish, cozy and comfortable. The Kraak van Dam is a unique place close to the Wadden Sea! The Kraak is cozy. That's because of the different cozy corners. Nevertheless, it is larger than almost any other holiday home. The kitchen - well equipped for those who like good cooking - is two steps higher than the church hall.

Church full of art in the Wadden area

In the middle of the Wadden area is this former reformed church converted into a recreational stay. Although the space has been modernized, all the characteristic elements have been preserved. From the beautiful beam constructions of the roof to the Art Deco stained glass windows. In addition, there are various artworks in the hall. Within 20 minutes you are in Leeuwarden or you are on the boat to Ameland. From the nearby embankment you can see Terschelling or Ameland.

Dike house on the mudflat

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. With your feet looking up at the fireplace in winter or on a tree trunk in the back of the garden during long summer evenings watching the setting sun. Wood and atmospheric inside, green at the front and back with views. View over the last dike of the Netherlands with the salt marshes of the protected Wadden area behind it.
