Gostamos muito do espaço e os nossos cães também aproveitaram bem. À noite podemos ouvir os grilos e durante o dia várias aves chilreavam e as abelhas andavam a polinizar. Aproveitámos o quintal para descansar um pouco antes de regressar.

Es war alles super & wir haben tolle Empfehlungen für die Umgebung bekommen. Bei der Ankunft haben wir uns an einem nahegelegenen Cafe getroffen und wurden zur Unterkunft begleitet. Vor Ort wurden wir sehr herzlich willkommen und bekamen die ersten Infos. Nach der Hälfte des Aufenthaltes bekamen wir sogar frische Handtücher. Zwei Sachen sind aus der Beschreibung leider nicht ersichtlich: der Ausblick auf den See ist durch Bäume verdeckt & man hat direkte Nachbarn. Das hat uns aber nicht gestört & wir würden immer wieder kommen!

What an EXTRAORDINARY accommodation Casa Marmelo was for our group of 8 adults when visiting the Douro valley !!! Host Kate was super to work -- right from our initial contact for information through our date of departure. What an excellent WELCOME GUIDE she provided before our arrival - with valuable tips and suggestions for activities and dining throughout the area. Housekeeper Helene too could not have been more kind, charming, and helpful. What delicious breakfasts she made for us each morning. The entire property was kept so clean and tidy. What a memorable time we all had -- we all hope to be back!

Magnifique séjour chez Virgílio, beau coin tranquille et paisible, j’ai adoré le petit ruisseau qui coule sur le côté de la propriété, très relaxant! Virgílio nous a chaleureusement accueilli, tout était impeccable! Merci beaucoup!

Just WOW. What an absolute gem of a place. If you’re looking for a peaceful location to switch off, whilst also feeling like you’re at a beautiful retreat, this is it. Incredible natural surroundings, gorgeous views, riverside and amongst nature. It’s simply stunning. Viive and her husband were warm, welcoming, helpful and all round superstars. The home baked cake from Viive’s mother in law tells you all you need to know. So welcoming. A wonderful family run business who really care. The place is just incredible. And after saying this may be our last year in Portugal, it has made us re-evaluate that thought! If you are deciding between places, stop now and book this one. You will be so glad you did. It exceeded all expectations and we hope to return.

Mario and Cila’s home was one of the most beautiful I have stayed out. The house was an old olive oil mill, converted into a modern paradise. They thoughtfully incorporated the property’s history into the renovation. The home is beautiful but the grounds are next level! There is a running stream running along side and under the house with lush grounds and a wonderful pool. There is also a walking path to a little park with a waterfall! Super peaceful property. If you are looking for a getaway, look no further! Mario and Cila are super kind, gracious hosts! They welcomed us themselves and proactively provided tips and recommendations. Super appreciative of their hospitality.

I hesitate writing this review because I want this place to stay a secret… but it’s too good not to share. From the moment we walked in, we felt at home. The space is spotless, stylish, and incredibly cozy—like a boutique hotel and a warm hug had a baby. The bed was so comfortable we missed our alarm (zero regrets). The kitchen was impressively stocked—better than mine at home—and every little detail felt intentional and thoughtful. The host was the perfect balance of helpful and hands-off, responding quickly when needed but letting us enjoy the space fully. The location? Peaceful, private, yet close to everything we wanted to do. It’s the kind of place that makes you rethink your life choices and wonder if you could just live here forever. Please don’t book it—I’m already planning my return and want it available. But seriously… if you’re lucky enough to snag a night here, take it. Just leave my dates open.

The home is beautiful and exactly like the pictures. The views are lovely. The neighborhood and area was quiet and peaceful. The house was immaculately clean. We were 3 couples and there was plenty of room for the 6 of us. There was a small issue with the grill running out of gas and Pedro responded immediately with a new canister. All in all we had a great stay and would return! Highly recommend!
