John and Jeanelle went above and beyond as hosts. Kirkwood is a remote place and they came to my rescue with AAA batteries we needed and couldn’t find at the general store. They were so responsive and tentative to our needs while we were there for a ski competition for our son. Would definitely recommend all of their properties at Kirkwood!

Fantastic home/cabin in Pollock Pines near Sly Park. Nicole first and foremost was a fantastic host, very proactive, which is wonderful. If I had a question she was always super quick to respond, which makes it easy and no waiting around which I greatly appreciate. The home was immaculate, cozy and had all of the amenities. We loved how it was laid out with a queen bedroom, king bedroom, and another queen bunk with Trundle so quite spacious for three bedroom. Each bedroom had a very large walk-in closet also lovely along with the spa tub in the master along with the shower. The balcony is lovely as well with a hanging lounge and nice eating area as well as barbecue. beds, very comfy and cozy and all linens provided. About a mile from Jenkins Lake, great for paddle boarding hiking. We hiked the waterfall trail, which was gorgeous lake itself was a beautiful greenish blue and we definitely planning a trip back. Would recommend this house to families, girls trip! Hour from Sacto!

We stayed for a 3-day weekend with four kids and 2 dogs and had a great time. Beds were comfortable, the home was clean (except under the beds, which wasn’t a big deal and out of the host’s control since he can’t exactly inspect the cleaner’s job every time), and the area is rich in history and nature. We had a lot of fun exploring the area around the home and feeding the sweet goats at the park/school right across the road. Please research healthy options to feed them though! There is hay at the school as well. If you have dogs, there is a dog run type fenced in area for them to potty and play. Bring laundry detergent and washcloths if you need them. The neighbor’s dogs are out all hours of the day and night and bark a lot, so keep that in mind if you care about that stuff. Again, out of the host’s control! We weren’t that bothered. We would definitely stay here again. If you’re thinking about booking this one, just do it!

Nele and Brad’s place was perfect for us-not in the center of everything “Lake Tahoe” but a bit removed and still offering grocery, restaurants, coffee shops, and easy access to activities while also offering desired quiet and privacy. We were there in the spring but it would also be a great spot in the winter to ski the various resorts. The house itself was clean and comfortable, the beds were great, the kitchen and dining area well appointed and perfect, and having three bathrooms was a bonus. This beautiful home is in a private residential neighborhood so you need to be respectful of the neighbors and the community in which it sets. It is perfect for a family with younger kids or older couples visiting the area. It is definitely not an active “party” spot and does not offer any “nightlife activities” for those seeking that type of getaway. However it checked all of the boxes for us and easily deserves the 5/5 star review. Appreciated extras include coffee, popcorn, tissues, spices.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will absolutely be coming back. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable trip to Tahoe! The hosts were incredibly responsive and thoughtful, providing helpful recommendations and making check-in a breeze. Definitely a 5/5 stay.

Penny’s place is truly a hidden gem—a peaceful escape from reality. My husband and I both work, go to school, and juggle raising kids, so we were long overdue for a quiet getaway to reconnect. Sanctuary in the Pines was exactly what we needed. It’s calm, quiet, and surrounded by nature—perfect for slowing down and just enjoying each other’s company. You really can't describe the experience fully in words... you just have to go and feel it for yourself. Penny is hands down the best host we’ve ever had. She’s incredibly sweet and thoughtful, and always responds quickly if you need anything. Her warmth made us feel so welcomed and taken care of. If you're looking for a place to relax, recharge, and reconnect, this is it. One tip: don’t make the same mistake we did by arriving late at night—come during the day so you can enjoy the gorgeous drive in and take in the views. Thank you, Penny, for such a special and unforgettable stay!

Samia was an amazing host! We appreciated the wine bottle she left us. I had messaged her a few times during our stay to ask a couple of questions and she replied really fast. Would definitely stay here again!

Perfect place if you're looking to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet. Stunning views all over and a beautiful large deck to enjoy it all. Loved cozying up around the fire at night too.
