The hen house is located in the middle of the beautiful Permagarten, below a former monastery, on the Katzenhof in Bachhaupten. Gabi and Guido live their dream of independence here and want to expand the farm sustainably and suitable for grandchildren. For example, the walls and ceiling of the hen house were made from the over 200-year-old plank boards of the main house. The "gray water" is used in the garden and the "separating toilet" works without drinking water flushing. This is one of the most sparkling-clean airbnbs I have ever stayed at! The kitchen was equipped with basic items, but had everything we needed to prepare and eat our meals. The fireplace was wonderful after lots of outdoor activities in the cold! My only concerns are that the master bedroom bed is extremely uncomfortable (my husband agrees) and makes a lot of noise every single time you move…and if you are staying in the master bedroom, you must walk through the second bedroom to get anywhere else in the unit. This was fine for us and our two young kids, but if you are traveling with another couple or teenagers who enjoy their privacy, this would be an inconvenience. Overall, this unit is spacious and centrally located to many fantastic sights! We used this unit as our base for visiting Schloss Lichtenstein, Schloss Sigmaringen, and Schloss Hohenzollern. For what we paid, I consider this unit an amazing value!

Christine and Otto were very sweet and we felt right at home. Christine met my daughter and I outside the apartment and showed us everything directly. She showed recommendations for the region and let us know that she should always be easily accessible. The apartment was well equipped from technology to cleaning items such as vacuum cleaners and washer-dryer - both very important if you arrive with a child;) The living room has magnificent morning light and I was looking forward to the morning coffee every day. The location was quite far away from our day trip destinations but this was rather our "difficulty"; there are also a lot of great opportunities right in the area. We still have many open wishes in the region and will definitely stay with Christine and Otta again to make the bucket list a little shorter (: I highly recommend this stay! -Paul family
