Farmstay holiday rentals in Southern Province

I spent 2 nights in this beautiful place with my big family of 13. We all had such a great time. Kids loved the pool and all the water activities they had. It is located only a few minutes from Galle Fort which gave us the opportunity to do sightseeing quite conveniently. Loved the simple Sri Lankan buffet breakfast we had on both days. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. Have to mention Amarasiri, who gave us the best customer service throughout our stay. We will definitely visit this place next time we are in Australia. המקום הזה היה מדהים - מכל הבחינות! נתחיל מזה ש Chandana תמיד היה שם בשבילנו בכל מה שהיינו צריכים - באמת שלא דימיינו שהוא יהיה כל כך תומך ועוזר בכל מה שהיינו צריכים. הוא עזר לנו עם למצוא מקומות לנסוע אליהם, מחירים לטוקטוק ואפילו לקח אותנו איזה פעמיים לעיר פשוט כי הוא נחמד ואדיב. Chandana מעבר למארח ברמה מאוד גבוהה הפך להיות חבר ואם נחזור לסרי לנקה בוודאות נבוא לבקר אותו! המקום עצמו - מדהים. יש עליית גג פתוחה עם נוף ממש יפה, האיזור שקט - זה ממש כפר קטן כמה דקות מחוץ לעיר ומרגישים בג׳ונגל. יצא לנו לראות סנאים חמודים על העצים, לטאות מגניבות ואפילו קופים! שזה פשוט היה אדיר בעינינו. מעבר לעליית גג הענקית שיש למעלה הוילה עצמה נקייה, מעוצבת טוב, יש תאורה מעולה, מיטות נוחות, החדר רחצה גדול ונקי ופשוט בכללי הוילה מדהימה. לא פעם אחת או פעמיים אמא של צ׳נדנה הביאה לנו אוכל שהיא בישלה, שאם יוצא לכם לטעום ממנו אתם תרגישו מה זו אהבה של אמא דרך אוכל.. תודה צ׳נדנה על הכל!

Unsere Zeit in der Villa war einfach unvergesslich! Die Unterkunft liegt mitten in der Natur und ist nicht nur wunderschön gestaltet, sondern auch ein Ort der Ruhe und Inspiration. Wir haben unglaublich viel von der Umgebung gesehen–von beeindruckender Tierwelt bis hin zu atemberaubender Natur. Was unseren Aufenthalt aber wirklich besonders gemacht hat, war das herzliche Personal. Die Atmosphäre war familiär, das Essen jeden Tag ein Genuss – frisch, liebevoll zubereitet und typisch für die Region. Besonders möchten wir Nalin und Jayantha hervorheben. Sie haben uns mit ihrer warmen Art sofort das Gefühl gegeben, willkommen zu sein. Gemeinsam haben wir unvergessliche Ausflüge unternommen, sind Fahrrad gefahren, haben die Kultur Sri Lankas auf eine ganz persönliche Weise erlebt – und unsere Kinder waren bei ihnen in den besten Händen. Wir sind voller Dankbarkeit für diese besondere Zeit und können die Villa aus tiefstem Herzen empfehlen.Ein Ort der, Natur, Kultur und Herzlichkeit vereint.

My family had 5 nights in this delightful house which was a perfect antidote to 10 days of rushing around the island of Sri Lanka. It was so relaxing and greatly benefited from having private staff who dealt with everything we could possible have wanted. There is a private chef who went out of his way to prepare whatever we asked for, 3 meals a day if needed. He only charged us for the ingredients required to prepare those meals which included a range of seafoods (e.g. huge prawns and seer fish), fresh fruit and very tasty Sri Lankan main dishes and deserts - nothing was too much trouble and he should be justly proud of his cooking skills, some of the best meals we tasted on our trip. They happily took us out on the tuk-tuk to local shops and will arrange local tours but we were "toured out" by the time we got there. The pool is fantastic (and huge!) and the grounds are constantly maintained by "Uncle". I cannot say anything but positive things, but do bring the bug sprays!

The owner and his wife helped us with any questions, were always in touch. Good internet, fast, but there are restrictions on gigabytes, check with the owner before entering if you need it for work. Air conditioning greatly saves from the heat. The place is 7 minutes by scooter from the beach, quieter than the main streets, we like it.

Absolutely magical place. If you are a nature lover, this is a dream come true. Me and my husband stayed in Ganguli for 10 nights and we loved every second of it. Gonapinuwala is close enough to the beach and nearest bigger town - Hikkaduwa, but at the same time it is far enough to be in a calm place, away from other tourists. The garden that surrounds the house is natural, so it feels like living in a beautiful jungle, with monkeys jumping on the trees and endemic birds sitting on the branches (Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill visited us!). But you shouldn't worry, it never feels unsafe, we've never seen any dangerous animals or anything like that. Chandana and Krishna are unbelievably helpful and kind, they just made us feel like home. They are always ready to give advice or organize transport. I hope they will read it, so Chandana and Krishna, let me thank you again! You made our trip even more exceptional. You are the best!

Wir waren zu 5. in der Unterkunft von Sheeta und haben uns gleich wie zuhause gefühlt. Da Sheeta aus Europa ist, ist die Einrichtung und Sauberkeit das beste was wir in Sri Lanka erlebt haben. Die Unterkunft ist ein bisschen außerhalb. Man läuft ungefähr 40 Minuten bis ins Zentrum, oder bestellt sich entspannt für wenig Geld ein Pick Me (ungefähr 270 Rupie mit Tuktuk). Dafür hat man seine Ruhe und ist direkt am Djungle! 😁 Wir hatten eine geniale Zeit und ich würde es jederzeit wieder buchen. 💯 Danke für die schöne Zeit 🔥

This place was incredible. We loved our stay! The property itself was gorgeous and we had the best time relaxing by the pool. Jagath and Upul made the stay by cooking us delicious food and helping us with anything we needed. We will be planning another stay in the future!!

Where do I start, I’ll start with it’s all in the name DIVINE VILLA, and that’s exactly what it is. This place exceeded all of our expectations, not only me, but all my family and friends. The location is breathtaking, with the most incredible views and only the sounds of nature can be heard. The villa is a piece of art that just fits right into its surroundings as if it has been mounded there since the beginning of time. An architectural masterpiece form top to bottom. The place is very clean and very well maintained. The host was super amazing and most helpful from start to finish, of which we a greatly appreciate.I would like to thank all of the staff, they were all super accommodating, there was never a no at anytime, what ever we requested or needed, they were there to help. They are always smiling and happy to greet us each day. A huge thank you to Damika and Manju, amazing people, as well as all the other staff. In fact, they are one of the biggest contributions for the experience as well as for us wanting to return. The food was incredible, and have us the taste of Sri Lanka. We will definitely be returning very soon to enjoy this experience once again. A cozy nest in the heart of Hikaduwa! We were incredibly lucky to stay in this wonderful house! From the first moment we felt a warm welcome: our hosts greeted us with a smile, explained all the details of our stay and even left a small welcome kit with local coconuts - it was so sweet! Quiet, green neighborhood, yet only a 10 minute walk to the ocean. Special thanks to the beautiful pool, kids and adults had fun in it 24/7. Stylish interior with thoughtful design and all the amenities you need. The kitchen is equipped - we cooked with pleasure! Near the house is a garden with monkeys, peacocks, birds and other exotic animals. The hosts showed real care: they were quick to answer questions, and solved issues related to a comfortable stay. If you are looking for a place that combines homeliness, convenience and attention to detail, this is the perfect choice. Our recent family stay at the Barefoot Bungalow in Hikkaduwa was nothing short of wonderful. The house’s lovely layout provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our whole family, with several rooms accommodating us comfortably and ensuring privacy for everyone. The property itself is beautifully maintained, offering a good room with all the necessary amenities for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The serene and picturesque view added a special touch to our mornings and evenings, making it a perfect setting for family time. The chef did a good job of catering to our dining needs, it was the overall experience that truly made our stay memorable. The bungalow’s staff were incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and that all our needs were met promptly. Their assistance and warm hospitality contributed greatly to the enjoyment of our stay. In summary, our time at the Barefoot Bungalow was excellent.

Absolutely faultless experience. The beautiful house and excellent team of staff exceeded all of our expectations. We were incredibly comfortable in the spacious and beautifully designed and furnished house and gardens. The house managed to combine all of the above whilst allowing us to feel completely ‘at home’. Sunil, the on-site villa manager, was always able to help and guide us with all our needs for transport and excursions etc. Sunil is also a wonderful chef. He cooks with skill but also with love. We felt very well looked after. He and his team kept the villa spotless and were kind and friendly throughout. We hugely appreciated the effort they made to help us celebrate our daughters birthday whilst we were there. Would 100% recommend.

Absolute paradise! This place had everything we were dreaming of and more. Beautiful surroundings, amazing pool, incredible beaches around, super nice and discreet staff and three adorable dogs, which is definitely a plus point to feel at home! CJ went out of her way to help us settle and feel comfortable, it was truly a memorable stay, thank you for everything!!

2 families of 5 each stayed here. The staff were very attentive and Rohana, the chef was wunderbar! Cooked us some amazing meals and catered to all our requests. The kids loved the pool, even though the resident water monitor got first dibs one day🤪 A lovely, relaxing stay; exactly what we hoped for. We even got treated to a peacock dance outside our window. Lucky us!

Auntie and Uncle were extremely kind and friendly hosts. They shared their lunch with us and the conversation was fantastic. The gentleman who looks after place is also very friendly and helpful. It will be our place to go to in Hikaduwa. A lovely place with great hosts.

We have nothing but positive feedback about our stay. The home was very tastefully decorated with everything you could possibly need. Set back from the hustle and bustle of the main road, but within easy access of all the sights, and remarkably peaceful, it was the perfect end to our stay in Sri Lanka. The food was some of the best we'd had in Sri Lanka, with Prasad (sp?) cooking amazing meals to cater for both local and western tastes, and the breakfasts were just delicious! Fabulous service and a wonderful spot - highly recommended!

WOW, This is the best accommodation we’ve ever stayed in. the moment the gates opened we was greeted by chandana, priyantha and malani. a much needed welcome after the long journey. A refreshment and cold towel, was given to us by malani. The villa itself made even more special by these three Amazing people. The gardens are just the most stunning scenery pure bliss, the sounds of the wildlife inside and the surroundings are just amazing. Priyantha attends every morning and evening to clean the pool and surrounding garden the month we went was when the leafs fell from the tree he worked tirelessly everyday am and pm to assure the lawns was clear “for the children to play” he also took us to hikkaduwa most evenings, we would what’s app him and he would come and collect us. Malani also worked tirelessly cleaning the villa everyday and on 3 occasions brining in breakfast for us. Chandana Went above and beyond we went on 3 excursions with him. One of the nicest people ever.

This is a great villa just 10 minutes from Galle by car/scooter. It's located on a very small and quiet village street with very few neighbours. There's another house adjacent to the villa, so you won't be totally isolated, but for sure this is the right place to have a rest from crowded streets and beaches. We were surprised how good the villa is – it's newly built, very well designed and has been quality constructed. I can't but mention nice furniture and real flowers/decorations all over the house. This villa definitely has good vibes. It feels spacious and has big living area, big kitchen, bathrooms as well as decently sized bedrooms. Terrace is a great place to enjoy your morning and evening meals. You may often observe monkeys jumping on the trees, sometimes very close – it's a lot of fun to watch them. Luckily they are not spoiled and don't come too close to the house. The biggest downside for us was a poor bedrooms soundproof – the doors have false shades without any barrier, effectively you feel like you have open doors. I'm sure for some early birds this is a nice feature as you can enjoy nature sounds both in the evenings and mornings. We are late sleepers, so it was a bit difficult to get used to this feature – both birds and village people start their day around 5-6 am. The same false shades may let some spiders/geckos inside. There's no A/C, but it's not a deal breaker as we have kept many doors open during a day and there was a lot of fresh air. In the evening ceiling fans in the living area and master bedroom cool the air down. The villa is supported by Danuka's family, not just himself, and they are all very kind people, really trying to do everything to make your stay comfortable. The family lives just a few houses away, so they're always available. We enjoyed Danuka's mom breakfasts and also asked her for a traditional rice&curry dinner. Just few kilometers away are ancient buddhist temple and a hand weaving factory, which the family kindly showed us. Both were very interesting experiences. All in all, it's a great place to stay, we'll have a very warm memories about it.

The villa was absolutely beautiful — but what truly made it unforgettable was how close it was to the beach. I already miss the feeling of simply stepping out and jumping straight into the ocean waves. The villa itself was spotless, well-organized, and thoughtfully designed. But most importantly, the staff completely exceeded our expectations. They were warm, incredibly helpful, and always eager to make sure we felt at home. No request was too much — they always said yes with a smile, even when we asked for everything under the sun. Honestly, they were the heart of this experience and made our stay even more special and memorable. The only small downside worth mentioning is that the plumbing could use a little attention — nothing that ruined the stay, but something to be aware of for future improvements. All in all, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back — it was a truly wonderful experience.
