Family-friendly holiday rentals in Sonafluca

We absolutely loved this place. It is well maintained and has everything you need. It feels like home. The woodwork in the house is so beautiful. The property is gorgeous and has trails to explore. Carolina and Manuel arranged to get some specially requested food for our stay. They had the food there for our arrival which was so helpful. Manuel took us on an awesome night hike. Carolina’s husband also gave us a tour of the property too. Carolina and her family really go out of their way to make this a welcoming place. They grow amazing coffee on the property which we really enjoyed. They also shared their garden veggies and the bananas. We stayed 4 days and wished we had stayed longer. We found it easy to go into Monteverde for activities like coffee tours, cloud forest, animal sanctuary el Tigre waterfall, etc. There are some great restaurants close by the house and of course in monteverde too. We enjoyed ordering homemade empanadas from cafe Horizonte for breakfast.

All the reviews are spot on! This is our 3rd trip to Costa Rica and we were looking for something a little different than a normal stay at a resort. Eduardo & Marshal (father & son) were the most wonderful hosts and made us feel so welcome. The house is huge! We enjoyed the balcony the most because you won’t have a better view in all of Costa Rica. It’s phenomenal! Towels were provided for trips to the hot springs. We did a rafting trip with our boys in the area, recommended and booked by Eduardo, that we will always remember. If you want to see toucans flying in the wild…book this amazing place right now. It was perfect sleeping at night. The windows were open, no bugs, and it even felt a little chilly during the night. Extra blankets were provided in all the sleeping areas. Our kids enjoyed the one bedroom apartment up top. The house has 3 separate areas for sleeping and hanging out. We loved it all and wanted to take the dog home with us! We hope to stay again!

Our family truly enjoyed staying at Chiri Glamping. Our son had a great time climbing on the rock wall, swinging, sliding, and soaking in the hot tub. The bed and linens were the most comfortable of all our accommodations in 12 nights in CR - luxurious and plush. The bathroom was surrounded by nature and the shower products were soothing and relaxing, and everyone had their own robe. The essential oils were a nice touch, and the ac kept the room cool and inviting. We cooked dinner in the well stocked kitchen, and my husband got an amazing cocktail in the beautiful restaurant. The front desk staff was friendly, thorough, and escorted us to our room. The view overlooks Santa Elena and it was striking to watch the clouds come in and then go out within minutes. This is truly and special experience. We did hear music in the night from a nearby business and there was a bike race in the morning that woke us quite early, but in this convenient to town location, it is inevitable. Recommended!

La Finca Lodge is a true gem, exceeding expectations with an unparalleled experience. From arrival, we felt like cherished family. Magical ATV tours through sugarcane fields to rejuvenating mineral springs, and serene horseback rides exploring the stunning landscape, were incredible. Culinary delights were 'gastro-tacular,' farm-to-table feasts showcasing local abundance. The lodge's authentic focus shone in every detail. Even early mornings were special, witnessing farm life, feeding animals, and tending greenhouses. Leaving was hard, a testament to the profound connection and exceptional hospitality. This isn't just a stay; it's an immersive experience, an invitation to the region’s heart. We left eager to return, immersed in its magic. Without doubt, one of our finest stays, wholeheartedly recommended for an unforgettable retreat. Thank you to Esteban, the family and staff who made us feel at home. We had a fantastic stay at this charming little house nestled in the rainforest. The check-in process was smooth and straightforward, and the host was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout our stay. The location couldn’t be better—right in the heart of La Fortuna, making it easy to explore all the area has to offer. Our stay at the “pie in the sky” was awesome. We prefer a slightly more remote place, and this place had it in spades. Insanely beautiful views and perfect for our family as a home base while we were exploring La Fortuna and all its surrounding areas. Would absolutely go back.

At the beginning we arrived at night and honestly I kind of freaked out because it was in the middle of the forest completely dark but in the morning when I waked up everything looked so pretty, we had the chance to see an armadillo, rabbits and a lot of beetles. The chalet was really clean and cozy. If you have the chance to stay there for a night do it you will love the sunset from the bedroom.

Words truly can't capture how incredible this property is! We've stayed in many Airbnbs across different locations, but nothing has come close to this experience. The home and grounds are absolutely stunning—but it was the location and our amazing hosts, David and Josie, that made this stay unforgettable. We arrived at the start of rainy season, but it didn’t dampen our stay at all—thoughtful touches like covered walkways and outdoor spaces made it easy to enjoy everything, rain or shine. From the abundant wildlife to the peaceful seclusion, and the wealth of local knowledge they shared, every moment was exceptional! This place is a gem!

This place is lovely and the host was very helpful. She booked some tours for us- one was last minute. The pool was fun, but the hidden gem was finding a stack of old National Geographic magazines. We spent a couple (very) rainy evenings thumbing through those magazines and considered it time well spent!

This is a nice, spacious place. The hosts are super friendly and gracious. The town is beautiful ... one of my favorite spots in Costa Rica.

The host and her family are beyond amazing! I was treated as family throughout my stay. I couldn't ask for anything more! I'll definitely be back!!

it was a wonderful part of our Costa Rican trip to stop here for 2 days. the cottage is as described, rustic, one with nature and surrounded by a beautiful setting and animals! Everything was clean and we really enjoyed the tour Alexander gave our family, which allowed us to learn more about a way of life that is respectful of nature and the resources we share.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in La Fortuna! The highlight was definitely the stunning Arenal Volcano views—right in the backyard, it felt surreal. The location was perfect—close to all the best spots in La Fortuna, yet peaceful and private. The house itself was very clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The host was extremely responsive and helpful throughout. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

El lugar estuvo genial, cerca de todo, accesible y muy acogedor. Nos gustó lo céntrico que estaba y podías ir caminando a los lugares. Las amenidades estuvieron buenas y cumplió nuestras necesidades.

El lugar es muy bonito, no obstante, con el clima lluvioso no es muy favorable. Por lo demás, todo bien.

My partner and I travelled for the first time in Costa Rica, we lend at Liberia and Karen organized us the transport from the airport to her Airbnb. Our driver was friendly and of trust. We arrived late at night but Karen waited for us for the check-in. The place was clean and cozy. Hot water for the showers. Cuter in person than in pictures. Karen guided us through the possible activities around. She even booked an activity for us and the transport for our way to Monteverde. I do recommend it, it’s a jeep,boat,jeep, it’s worth it for the view and a faster trip instead of going around the lake. The view on the volcano was incredible. There is a restaurant, ice cream bar and a depanneur in front of the Airbnb. Karen took care of us, she went above and beyond to help us have the perfect time. Thank you for the experience!

AMAZING! One of our favorite places we have ever had the pleasure to stay at in Costa Rica and I have been coming to this beautiful country for a decade. The springs are fantastic and well maintained. the property is beautiful and has a great hiking trail loop. I got to see blue Jean strawberry dart frogs too! The treehouse is gorgeous, spacious and well equipped. The kitchen was great and the bed was comfortable. We loved it so much that we spent most of the day on the grounds after we checked out. the cherry on top was being greeted and having a chat with the wonderful owners. Kathy and Bernie and incredible people and I absolutely recommend this gem of a place!

We truly enjoyed our stay! Nice feel of Arenal nature life. The AC was our best friend because our kids aren't use to the humidity so it was nice to be able to have that on during times inside the house. The pool was the highlight of our Stay. Our kids were in the pool daily. Overall safe neighborhood. Convenient access to food, market and close to main attractions. We had a wonderful time here! A few suggestions id like to make are some type of shelf in the bathroom to place personal toiletries, along with kitchen amenities such as basic salt and pepper, spices and mainly COFFEE and TEA bags would be a nice gesture. When we go on vacations these are things that are important to us and is always provided in homes. It would have been nice to have it a part of the Airbnb rental for Costa Rica especially they are known for having the best coffee in the world :) Thanks again for amazing hospitality!

This is an excellent place to stay in La Fortuna. Host was very quick to respond & friendly. The house is on the same road of La Fortuna Waterfalls, only a 4-minute drive from the waterfall entrance. And only a couple minute drive (maybe 5 minutes max) to get to downtown La Fortuna for many restaurants. Home is exactly how the pictures show & very clean. The pool is pristine and large. There is also a natural pond on the property, along with a second fish pond. Sounds of running water and waterfalls when sitting outside. Very nice... honestly better than the pictures. We saw birds and butterflies. Very relaxing, a mini oasis! The host helped us at the last minute when plans at another hotel fell thru. I am so grateful. Air conditioning is strong and cold. Kitchen was clean & had everything we needed. Host even has a little welcome pack of goodies in the kitchen upon arrival. Perfect location. Location is near "down town", yet quiet and private. HIGHLY recommend for La Fortuna!! (:

Had a great vacation at this beautiful home, we are a family of 5 with 3 girls (15, 13, and 11). The kids loved having their own room and bathroom. The "kids room" is located in the back corner of the property with the pool in-between the main guest house and the kids room, worked out great for us. We loved the open air outdoor kitchen. House is nicely removed from La Fortuna but the main guest house does back to the road and can hear the traffic, while light, in the evenings and morning while sleeping, not a big issue. We spent our days exploring the area, loved the food at Jalapas, La Fortuna waterfall, rope swing, ATV and Hot Spring combo excursion (La Finca Lodge, check it out! Only 12 people at the hot spring), and Judah set us up on a white water rafting trip that was a blast! Pool was bigger than expected and enjoyed while we were on the property. Used the propane grill and outdoor burners. Beds comfortable. The grounds are very well kept and have a very nice walking path.

Un lugar precioso. Tal cual se describe. Muy privado y la piscina un 10, con su temperatura ideal para el lugar. Todo super limpio, bien distribuido y amplio. Super recomendado. Importante saber que deben registrarse en otro sitio, donde se obtiene el acceso.
