Rock Cottage l Hidden Gem l Matlock

AnneRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We’ve just spent the most wonderful weekend at the beautiful Rock Cottage. Rebecca has put so much thought into creating a cosy, relaxing space, with a lovely blend of rustic-style decor and high-spec features throughout. This thoughtfulness was also evident from the moment we checked in and saw that Rebecca had prepared a birthday greetings garland along with birthday wishes and welcoming gifts, which was so generous. We were also blessed with good weather, which meant that we could enjoy the gorgeous, spacious garden and summer house, an absolute delight on both evenings. With fab walking trails nearby as well, it’s simply the perfect base to lose yourself in nature and unwind.

We've just spent a great week exploring and walking this part of the Peak District - staying at Peter's wonderful home Saunters in Darley Dale. Everything about Saunters is perfect - perfect location, quiet and peaceful with wonderful views across the countryside from the lounge and conservatory. Saunters provides a spacious and comfortable home in which to relax and unwind.

Cosy Matlock Cottage: Fireplace, Views & Pets OK

GregRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Great place for a family of four (plus a dog). A short walk into Matlock town centre and a great base to explore the Peaks. There was ample parking on the road directly opposite and the house was very well-equipped.

Bettys Cottage

JonRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We had a wonderful stay here in the cottage. With relaxing views over the Derbyshire countryside. Neighbours were friendly with the car drop off and there is only a short walk back to the house (we recommend taking the little footpath to the right as you are walking back up the hill.) There is so much to do within an easy 10 - 20 minute drive, including Heights of Abraham, Bakewell, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Petra was very responsive and always quick to reply with any questions. A fantastic stay thankyou!

The Ballroom at Gordon Lodge

LisaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We were on a work trip to Chatsworth, but The Ballroom made us want to return for a holiday. The space is large, light, and full of historic character. I wish we'd had time to make use of all the wonderful books and games available, but we did enjoy the views and the land, much of which the owners are rewilding and turning organic which is right up our street. We especially appreciated all the eco products used in the house too. There are lots of thoughtful little touches and these made us feel comfortable and welcome. The car charging facility is a huge bonus and showers with endless hot water and great pressure is a luxury! Lovely people and a lovely space for unwinding.

Majestically comfortable and beautifully finished - we had a fantastic (albeit too fleeting) few nights at “Bert’s”.

Piggy in the Middle - Hideaway in heart of Matlock

HollyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
My best friend and I absolutely loved staying at Piggy in the Middle. It is a gorgeous cottage with incredible views over Matlock and the Peak District. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and as though nothing was too much trouble. The decor was beautiful and cosy, perfect for evenings in after long days of walking, and every room, with its character and additions of books and board games was a delight! We would very happily visit again and recommend it to our friends! Thank you Ashleigh and Malcolm!

Heart of Matlock top floor apt

PhilipRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Worked for us very well. Ideally located, very close to the railway station and the two main bus stop locations, and almost right on the route of the Derwent Valley Heritage Way. Couldn't really be more convenient for walking or for the local industrial history. Also very close to at least two decent-sized supermarkets, and multiple restaurants and cafes. The kitchen seemed excellently equipped, but we never had cause to use it. Comfy lounge chairs much appreciated after a day's walking! The apartment does overlook a fairly busy road, with some pubs, &c., so there was some noise, especially on Friday and Saturday evening – didn't seem excessive to us, but not the place if you want perfect countryside quiet. Also the two flights of stairs up are really quite steep.
