Holiday rentals with lake access in Skeiða- og Gnúpverjahreppur

We had a great stay in Rakel’s home - thank you to all their help to make our first time in Iceland so wonderful!

Wir waren 6 Frauen und 2 Wochen in der Unterkunft. Die Lage ist klasse, um sternförmig in alle Richtungen die Attraktionen abzuführen. Es gibt auch 3 Bademöglichkeiten direkt in der Gegend. das Häuschen ist genauso wie beschrieben und die Ausstattung gut. Ein Krambudin ist in Laufnähe. Die Kommunikation mit Ingvar war schnell und gut. Für 6 Frauen gaben es zwar öfter mal Stau vorm Bad... aber ansonsten ist die Wohnung dafür auch super. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

This home offered a cozy place to stay for our family of 9 as we visited the Golden Circle. The rural location was so peaceful. The kitchen was nice for meal preparation and the beds were very comfortable. We would definitely recommend this home for your stay!

Out of hundreds of rentals, this is one of my favorites. The home is only 15 minutes from a little town, but you feel like you are totally alone on the beautiful lake. We loved sitting in the hot tub and watching all the birds come and go. It’s incredibly well stocked- extra towels, great kitchen stuff, kayaks, fishing gear, laundry room, games closet, etc. There are luxuries like under floor heating, double black out curtains and several nice televisions. It kind of ruined the rest of our Iceland trip because no other home was nearly as great. Even with 4 kids, there was so much room and we all loved it.

Jona was a terrific host and her cottage was perfect for our family of three. we had great conditions for viewing the northern lights and away from any light pollution so we could really enjoy their beauty!

This cottage was absolutely beautiful. My only negative is that we weren’t able to spend enough time there. The views, the sheep that visit, and the running hills. We stayed there for two nights as we were road tripping the south so the location was perfect for where we were going. Highly recommend this gorgeous place. We had minor issues locking the door (our fault) but Larus and husband arrived in minutes to assist. Thankyou both we can’t speak highly enough of this.

Very good communication with the lovely and very understanding hosts, they very helpful Tipps for the area. The cottage is far out in the country and really quiet, we loved the hot tub and we felt like at home right from the beginning on. It’s located on the golden circle and a perfect point to explore. Very good equipped amenities. We were really lucky to see wonderful dancing northern lights from the cottage and a really 360* view from the field on the way there with an open view in the beautiful landscape. We would suggest to get a SUV and 4x4 to get there since this was the only problem we had to get there and away after the snow storm.

The house was absolutely lovely, built in a typically islandic style and with lots of caution on details. We felt very comfortable from the very beginning and enjoyed our entire stay a lot. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen perfectly equipped, and the wonderfully calm atmosphere simply gorgeous. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub surrounded by the amazing islandic landscape or having a cup of coffee on the sunny terrace. But think of planning a bit ahead with your groceries as the next bigger supermarket is approximately 40 km away. Altogether a perfect holiday experience!

Jóna war sehr nett, respektvoll und hilfsbereit. Einen Abend war es sehr kalt in der Unterkunft innert kurzer Zeit hat uns Jóna gleichtags einen Heizkörper vorbeigebracht. Sie war stets erreichbar und hilfsbereit. Die Wohnung war sauber und warm. Ordentlich und Sauber. In der Küche konnte man problemlos kochen. Waren sehe zufrieden können wir nur empfehlen.

Unsere schönste Unterkunft auf unserer Island-Reise. Ein wunderbares Haus, welches sehr schön eingerichtet ist. Die Küche ist bestens ausgestattet um sich selbst zu versorgen. Wir haben von hier viele Ausflüge unternommen. Den Whirlpool haben wir auch gern genossen. Unsere jugendlichen Kinder haben sich über das Basketball-Feld gefreut.

As an architect, I appreciated the attention to detail of this tiny house. It was private and set in a beautiful place with easy access to the Golden Circle. The host was responsive and very accommodating.

We had the most wonderful time at Jona’s place. The house was in such a peaceful and relaxing location — perfect for enjoying the south coast and golden circle. We loved the large windows, and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals. The kids toys were a great bonus!
