Holiday rentals in Shawanaga

We wanted to spend some time kayaking in the Shawanaga Archipelago, and when we saw Kim's cottage available in Skerryvore, we knew it would make a great base for our kayaking adventure. The cottage's location on the water in a peaceful lagoon connected to Georgian Bay made for a perfect beginning and ending to each day's paddle. The cottage was very well equipped, included a lot of extra amenities, and provided a cozy place to stay each night. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck in the evening, eating supper at the picnic table, and even had a campfire one evening in the provided fire pit. Since our focus was exploring the Archipelago, we really appreciated Kim's direction on a few places that we would enjoy while out paddling. As it turned out, we did manage to get to The Hole in the Wall, and to the little waterfall well up the Shawanaga River. Thank you Kim for providing us with a comfortable place to stay, and enhancing our paddling experience with your local knowledge.

Great stay! The place had everything we needed and more. It was clean. Furniture and decoration was charming and well thought-out. Jamie and Brian were great hosts - very friendly, welcoming and gave us great recommendations for the area, they were also very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. The area is very peaceful, the cabin is well-maintained with beautiful direct views of the lake. You can tell the hosts put a lot of effort into making the experience comfortable and enjoyable. Would definitely come back whenever we need an escape from the city!

Beautiful space and super responsive & accommodating hosts! The place looks exactly like the photos and was a really nice space to spend the week. The only thing I wish we knew ahead of time was that the neighbours are pretty close on all 3 sides so it does impact the privacy of the backyard at times!

It was exactly what we were looking for! A disconnect from our fast lives, so beautiful and peaceful. The host made sure we felt home, and the outdoor shower felt redeeming :) A perfect getaway for us away from the sounds of our 9-5 lifestyle

What a glorious setting! Peaceful location with nature all around. We didn’t see or hear any neighbours - utter tranquility compared to our usual hectic schedule/ semi-urban surroundings. The house was easy to find with clear instructions; there were thoughtful additions such as a full log basket, plenty of loo roll, laundry detergent, basic cooking supplies like oil/ seasonings and extra towels were available if required. Clearly a lot of thought had gone into making it homely. Host was responsive and helpful with recommendations and instructions - even maps of the best canoeing spots! We had a very peaceful stay and teenage kids loved it - even though it was autumn, we still enjoyed the lake, swam, hiked, went canoeing, and toasted marshmallows in the fire pit. If you’re looking for a city rush with lots of buzz, look elsewhere; for peace, beauty and the outdoors immediately available, this is a great spot!

Wow, what a beautiful and peaceful getaway. The dogs loved it too. The cabin is very cosy and had everything we needed. The walk through the woods around the lake is lovely. The other cabins were empty, so we had the whole lake to ourselves. We really did feel like we had "gotten away from it all". Rob was very responsive and helpful. Evenything was taken care of with no fuss. He even arranged a topup of firewood for us, just in case. The only negative was the amount of bugs when going for a walk. It comes with the teritory and Rob did warn us, so we were prepared. But still, its hard to have them not effect your experience.

What a gem. This is a beautifully rustic spot in the woods for a gentle getaway on the water. There’s a bit of a scramble up a hill from the brand new dock (with amazing swimming and lovely afternoon sun!) to a sweet little cabin - everything you need for a comfier-than-camping holiday. There’s all the kitchen basics you need, and the wood stove makes it super cozy. The lake is quiet and the neighbours friendly. It’s a great spot for a lazy day in the dock, or a more adventurous day trip into Massasauga provincial park. Geoff was very responsive when the power went out and offered to come up to fix it right away. But we preferred to spend our last night in the warm glow of candlelight and wood stove. Highly recommend.

Amazing place & we can see why the owners hold it so dear..a fantastic job has been done on the conversion in every aspect..the property is on a very quiet road a short walk to a small beach ..we found all the amenities we could need within the property..if you are looking for something slightly outside the usual then this is it , we would certainly visit again .
