  • We had a lovely time in the delightful hideaway! We were recommended the Balloon tree the day we left which was absolutely delicious (local produce) and close to the Airbnb! The hideaway was stylish, quaint, clean and had a lovely view of nature which was a lovely change for us! Thank you Kathryn for accommodating us and giving us local recommendations. We will definitely stay here again if/when back in York! :)

  • We had a lovely long weekend in the cottage. The place is so well designed and styled inside and we loved just chilling in such a romantic spot. Perfect location to visit York but then escape to the quiet afterwards. Will definitely be booking another stay in the summer to see the beautiful gardens in full bloom.

    Kate2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Jennie and Mark’s for x2 nights and had the best weekend! It was unfortunately the weekend of Storm Dennis but even that didn’t make a dent in the weekend, on the Saturday we visited a nearby pottery painting studio and then went back to the cottage due to the weather - the cottage was perfect for a cosy lazy day, all spotlessly clean and with everything you could need. Mark was incredibly prompt when responding to messages and very helpful. Not a single bad thing to say and would definitely recommend ☺️

    Hannah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, peaceful cottage in the countryside only a short drive away from York. The cottage had everything I needed and was the perfect place to stay for the weekend, with local tips and walking information provided by Mark. Hope to return again very soon!

Beech cottage is built on a tidy working farm, attached to the main farmhouse. It feels in the middle of nowhere, but is only ten minutes from york, and easy for taxis to reach. Nearby are also the lovely seaside towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington, as well as many quaint old fishing villages such as robin hoods bay and sandsend. Many visitors also love the steam train from Pickering, castle Howard, the north york moors and Yorkshire woods. There are so many cosy local pubs too!
The views are beautiful across fields and woods, with not another house in sight. Perfect for country lovers, who also want to visit york for a bit of city life. Dogs are very welcome, and previous guests have found the large pen ( which can be shared with our bassset, Dora ), very useful if they want to pop out for an hour or so and don't want to leave their dog indoors. There are endless walks straight from the cottage door, and a large porch for them to sleep in, making the holiday a lovely break for your pet too! The cottage is simply and stylishly furnished. Very warm with underfloor heating, a log burner and good supply of logs. Large bath and shower, and a comfy bed and sofa make this a perfect spot for travellers who need a cosy bolthole for visiting nearby attractions. Children also welcome, high chairs, travel cot, baby bath, steriliser and a wide range of toys can be available upon request. A swing, slide and lots of outdoor toys are also available in the back garden. A breakfast basket can be delivered to your door at an extra charge.
The cottage is a mile out of buttercrambe, or village, which is very sweet and old fashioned. We are three miles from Stamford bridge, a small town which is handy for popping to the co-op, pharmacy, news agents, cafe etc. There is also a choice of three pubs. York is 15 minutes by car, and there is a handy park and ride less than ten minutes from the cottage.
  • We felt very welcome, the cottage was peaful, comfortable and warm, and the bread and treats were a lovely surprise!

    Rob2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Beech cottage . Lovely cosy accommodation on a working farm. Comfortable bed, great shower. There are plenty of places to eat out nearby. The cottage is very close to York, Castle Howard, and the Steam railway in Pickering .We used the Park & Ride to get into York which was very easy. Would definitely recommend Beech Cottage.

    Diane2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean cottage. It was warm, bright and welcoming with a very comfy bed & sheets. The bathroom was spotless and it was very handy having a separate bath & shower. The surrounding views are beautiful. Catherine was very kind, friendly & fast to respond. She very kindly said we were welcome to walk our little pooch around their land. They have a lovely little collection of animals which were a pleasure to watch, especially the baby chicks!

    Nicola2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous 2 days stay at Beech Cottage which is ideally located just outside of York and about an hours drive from the quaint little town of Whitby. We brought our dog Ruby along as we planned to do some walks around the area and had a wonderful circular walk from Whitby to Robin Hoods Bay and back, so was nice to be able to relax when we got back after a long day. The cottage is set on a fabulous working farm with sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens, cows - not sure if there's anything I've missed , but its the most immaculate farm I've ever seen! It is really warm and cosy and lovely to wake up in the morning to the great views across the farmyard. There is a log burner if required but it was warm enough that we didn't need to use it. The bed is really comfy and the bathroom has ample of space, everything was really clean and fresh so you certainly get a good nights sleep. We did a cooked breakfast both mornings to set us up for the day but ate out at night at a lovely pub called The New Malton in Malton, which was fantastic (you will need to book and can recommend the Fish and Chips) and is about 15/20 drive away and is nice to walk around as its a traditional market town. If you are looking for a relaxing stay then Beech Cottage is ideal, its so nice you won't want to leave.

    Kate2019-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine's farmhouse is ideal for exploring the York area. You will need a car to get around, but there is so much to do you will need to stay a while. We stayed a week and it was fabulous. Neil also showed us around his fully working farm and it was amazing. The home is very warm and cosy for winter. It is very clean and well set up including everything you could need in the kitchen. Wifi signal is very weak but you are able to use it for the essentials.

  • Thankyou so much for allowing us to stay. We had an amazing time and the Pod's are so cute and cosy. So close to York :)

    Melissa2018-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ben's place is perfectly quaint while being functional as well. My pod was perfect and had a supplemental heater I used as I run really cold. The shower/bathrooms he built were surprisingly modern and there's a small kitchen for use as well. I slept comfortably and would definitely rent again if in the area!

    Rebekah2018-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful location. The accommodation is immaculately clean. There are some great pubs nearby.

Useful information regarding the surrounding area is provided on check in and any questions we had during our stay were answered on site straight away. Can’t fault this place and we can’t wait to return!

    Rachel2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This site is beautiful - the pods are lovely and the toilets and showers are very clean. Well positioned to get easily to a park and ride to York city centre.

    Fiona2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay in the eco pod. Even though we stayed in November the pod was warm and the trip was enjoyable. Ben had advice about things to do in the local area and in York. We will visit again in the summer!

Beech nut shepherds hut is a wonderful space to relax in and slow your life down. Furnished simply and elegantly, it is the perfect place to escape and switch off the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You'll be surprised how spacious the hut feels, it's so roomy with a high ceiling. Plenty of cosy throws for curling up around the fire pit to watch the stars, wonderful walks straight from the hut and a freshly baked loaf of bread to wake to, what more could you need....
The shepherds hut is nestled in a corner of an apple, damson and pear orchard at the bottom of the owners garden. Secluded by trees and with wonderful views from your doorstep, it's a very serene place to stay. The hut can house two adults in the double bed, plus one child in the day bed, a travel cot can also fit easily. Whilst luxurious, this is still 'glamping' and so a short walk must be made across the garden to visit the toilet and shower room. This is accessed by the owners utility room where you will also have your own small fridge, worktop area, microwave, kitchen sink, washer, drier and access to freezer. An electric stove, kettle, beautiful dresser, sound system, toaster, book selection, throws, log burner, complementary logs, towels and bedding are all included in your stay. The hut is situated on a working farm, but hopefully any mooing, baa-ing and the occasional woof won't intrude on your stay! You are welcome to wander around, ask questions and collect fresh eggs from the hens if it interests you. Fresh baked bread for your first morning is included, with the option or ordering adding on extras- smoked salmon platter, porridge with cream, honey and spices, fruit platter or a patisserie selection at an addition cost. They can be delivered to the hut or left in the utility room for you to collect at your leisure.
The nearest small town is Stamford bridge, a five minute car drive. Useful for co op, butchers, pharmacists, cafes and a couple of ok pubs. Some wonderful traditional and gastro pubs are all close by too. York, Whitby, Scarborough, Leeds robin hoods bay, Filey, Helmsley and Beverley are all within driving distance and are wonderful places to visit.
  • A beautiful shepherds hut in a lovely location with friendly hosts. As other reviewers have said, warm enough in January :)

    Sally2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage and a place I would recommend to others to stay. Although it was a bit tricky to find at first, Catherine and her husband were very kind and hospitable. The cottage and utility room were very clean and had lovely touches including a home cooked breakfast which was delicious!

  • Lived our stay. Was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and take the dogs

    Beca2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherds' hut was a very relaxing stay. With the freshly baked bread and other amenities it was a lovely place to have a slow breakfast in the sunshine and then spend the afternoon exploring York. I stayed at the end of October and it was lovely and warm in the hut.

    Elizabeth2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely escape just outside of York, travelled at the end of October and was very warm and cosy inside the hut. Lovely touches like fresh bread in the morning and was really quiet to say it's on a working farm. Thank you Catherine and family for having me :)

    Kelly2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed our stay at the Shepherds Hut, helped by glorious weather. It's much more spacious than you'd imagine and well equipped. We loved being on a working farm- it certainly makes you appreciate how hard they work, especially during harvest and yet still had time for a quick chat. If you like a rural location, but within easy reach of a historical city, coast and other attractions we'd definitely recommend it as a place to stay that's a bit different.

    Paula2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nice setting in an orchard on a farm. Lovely and quiet.. Little walk to nice shower and toilet, but easy to get to.

    Mark2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful shepherd’s hut located in the farm’s orchard. Kitchen facilities and shower were located in the main house’s utility room about 20 seconds walk away from the shepherd’s Hut. Great base for exploring the North Yorkshire moors and seaside areas. Highly recommended.

    David2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful place full of homely touches and lots of little extras. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. The space is incredible and you can see the hard work they put into converting it into a modern home. Would definitely stay here again.

    Alexis2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Chapel is a truly beautiful stay and the work which has been put into the renovation of this historic building is amazing. We stayed for three nights and felt really at home straight away. The kitchen was really well equipped, there were thoughtful touches like pastries which were left for us and parking was easy. The location is fantastic, quiet but very close to the supermarkets and town centre. We would recommend to anyone wanting to stay close to York and the surrounding areas. We used the local park and ride into the city and thoroughly enjoyed exploring beautiful Yorkshire.

    Tom2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Chapel was definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed. The attention to the renovation and the level of comfort and ease is unsurpassed. Everywhere there were thoughtful touches and we loved the modern comforts along with the original features of the chapel itself. It was cosy, comfortable and situated so close to everything and we were able to explore the East Riding and be happy to return to the chapel every evening.

    Barb2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully renovated, comfortable, quiet and short walk to central Pocklington! Sainsbury’s supermarket is about a 3 minute walk, too. Easy to park, simple access instructions and really thoughtful touches. Will definitely stay again! Thanks Owen!

    Caro2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend a beautiful space with all the home comforts in central location in Pocklington.

    Alison2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Chapel 2 exceeds all expectations! It’s the thoughtful touches which make this place a step up above from the rest... the crockery, the touches in the bathroom, the soft furnishings..... it’s just beautiful and to fully appreciate this home you have to visit. We cannot recommend it more highly. It offers exceptional value and will surpass the most intrepid weekender’s expectations. This place is an absolute gem!

  • What a delightful little cottage this is , Helen & Patrick are brilliant hosts who live in the cottage next door. This is approx 100 metres from the centre of town, we parked our car inside the double gates where there is also patio table & chairs where you can relax, inside there’s a lovely king size double bed, logs for the fire if needed, also free range eggs from the hens at the bottom of the garden, where there’s another relaxing area, I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone, Helen & Patrick are the perfect host a big THANKYOU.

  • We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay at Helens. The accommodation is in a lovely quiet town but access to York is very easy via bus. The accommodation itself is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need to make your stay enjoyable and hassle free. There is a small wood fire to keep you warm and cosy on a chilly evening and a lovely backyard with some friendly chooks if you care to visit them. There is a very handy guide which explains all you need to know about the accommodation as well as lots of extra local tips. The hosts are friendly and welcoming and very helpful. We would definitely recommend this property.

  • A very comfortable and cosy detached cottage with private parking, just out of the centre of Pocklington. Helen and Patrick, who live next door, are excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. We also liked the hens and the complimentary free range eggs! Pocklinton has an excellent arts centre, pubs and restaurants and is within easy reach of the East Yorkshire coast. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • Stayed 2 nights while doing the Yorkshire Wold Way. Accommodation in Thixendale, the next town over, was exorbitantly expensive, so Neil shuttled me there and I walked back. I saved money and as an added bonus got to meet Neil and Cheryl! Two awesome hosts who seem to be in it just so they can meet new people and make new friends. Really enjoyed my stay!

  • The house is everything that one could hope for - and Barbara couldn't have been more helpful! The purpose of the visit was to see a relative who has been living in Pocklington since the early 1960's. We are very familiar with all that Pocklington and the surrounding area has to offer, and if it has entertained our family for nearly 60 years, rest assured that there is plenty to do for a week! It is the first time I have booked through Airbnb - and Barbara couldn't have done more to reassure me that I had understood the process, and that I had done all the right things. And even when it appeared that another event might require us to change the booking to a different weekend (in the end, we didn't) she took this all in her stride. But back to the house. We couldn't fault it. It is a lovely space, light and airy, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. So many thoughtful touches, from the cupboard that says 'Please eat me' onwards! I don't have the skills with words to describe it properly. You'll just have to go and see for yourself! Thank you so much. We'll be back!

  • This is a special place to stay. It is stylish, warm, spacious and exceptionally clean. Barbara left us some extras such as milk and bread and there were some amazing flowers arranged on the dining room table. There were plenty of information leaflets regarding the local area. We enjoyed a couple of walks along the canal and around Millington. We also watched a film at the Pocklington Arts Centre (excellent value). Thank you Barbara

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • An immaculate and perfectly equipped house for our family of four. The accommodation is beautiful and spacious. A 20 minute car journey to the park and ride for York city was perfect for us and our plans for our few days away. We enjoyed take aways from the local fish and chip shop and the Indian restaurant. Both were excellent. We will definitely be back!

    Catherine2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The 1859 house really surpassed our expectations. Barbara and Mike are lovely hosts and the house is beautifully decorated. Lots of personal touches like board games and DVDs make it feel really homely and it’s very spacious. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it if you’re in the area and would make a great base for exploring York.

    Nick2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara’s place is the most beautiful place ever! So homely, there were also food/drinks (coffee tea etc) that we were given to feel free to have, but besides that the place was so clean and so amazing! We really enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

  • We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay this weekend at the old milking parlour. It's amazing to see the history of the property and the journey it's been on to now being a gorgeous renovation. Hazel was nothing short of a fantastic host with sweet treats, breakfast items and lots of hits and tips of the local area. We'd love to come back and stay soon! Thanks Hazel x

  • The Old Milking Parlour is a wonderful, cosy retreat and a great base to explore from. Hazel’s hospitality is exceptional, and there are little touches like a history of the property, which make you realise what a stunning job they’ve made of the place! Eco friendly amenities throughout were a most welcome surprise, as were the chocolates, pastries and booze. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again or recommend. Thank you for a great stay!

    Tori2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Hazel's milk parlour was a perfect getaway for me and my girlfriend. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly Yorkshire lass and were given a quick tour of the milk parlour. We had a little chat and were told some local tips for places to visit during storm Dennis incase we needed to be inside somewhere. Hazel then left us to settle in and this gave us time to have a good look around. We were both amazed by the homely touches in the parlor and loved every thing from the cow shaped egg cups, to the little cow sitting on the rafters. Every little thing has been thought of and the entire parlor is spotlessly clean and very well heated, which was ideal considering the weather we were given. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is planning a visit to York or the surrounding areas and I do plan to go again myself. Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for my next visit.

    Sam2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We chose to stay here as it was local to a friend, Hazel gave us easy to follow directions and was very welcoming. We were the first guests in the old milking parlour and would definitely stay again, it was cosy and immaculate, and filled with thoughtful touches. There’s everything you need here such as towels and dressing gowns and even milk, bread, eggs etc for breakfast. Thank you Hazel!

Sleep easy in the comfy kingsize bed and enjoy the lovely marble en-suite with luxurious deep bath and shower and your own entrance looking out onto the serene parkland. Perfect for a romantic weekend away or for business travellers to York who also want a bit of peace & country air. Includes use of tennis court and walks through the woods. Close to York or if you enjoy browsing little artisan shops and stopping off for coffee & cake, or hiking, Wolds market town Pocklington is 5 miles away.
There is a fridge and kettle and we are happy to provide a simple breakfast of cereal. For any special dietary requirements please message us in advance and we’re happy to see if we can accommodate you (this may be at additional cost). We are a busy home educating family (with two boys aged 14 & 12) and we host numerous tutor and study groups during the week. These are mainly fairly peaceful as they’re predominantly for older children but occasionally younger siblings come as well and can be a bit more boisterous and you may hear them if they’re playing outside. Weekends and evenings tend to be more peaceful. We also have three cats who are very friendly and curious so they might pop in to say hello if you leave the door open! We are a sociable family and are happy to meet you and talk to you about the area and things you might enjoy, or we’re also happy to leave you to yourselves if that’s more your cup of tea.
We are in a beautiful part of the countryside but also close to the fascinating historic city of York. So, this is a perfect spot if you want to be near York or if you are visiting the University it’s only a 15/20 min drive to the park and ride on the outskirts of York which is also next to where the University is) but we can offer the advantage of also being able to retreat to the fresh air and peace of the countryside after a busy day in the city. The farm is an interesting place to explore with ancient woodland, lakes and ponds and a lovely pottage garden which is particularly beautiful in the spring and summer when the roses and other flowers are in bloom. We also have a little orchard garden little farm pond with hen coops. Pocklington is close by (5-10 mins) and is a lovely quaint English market town with lots of nice coffee shops and little artisan furniture and gift shops. We are also close to the Yorkshire Wolds for those who are interested in hiking. If you fancy a longer stay it’s also a reasonable drive to the East Yorkshire coast (approx 1-1.5 hours drive depending on where you want to visit).
  • The Owl House is a stunning retreat set in an equally stunning surrounding. The Owl House itself is a gorgeous bedroom with views over the country park, I spent many hours watching the wildlife including deer, rabbits, pheasants, buzzards, not to mention hundreds of birds around the lake. The room has a lovely bathroom with heated floor and a huge bath with rain shower set in a granite surround, it’s a fantastic place to relax and recharge the batteries. Anna’s hospitality is totally superb, Anna exceeded expectations in every way. I will definitely return to this stunning venue, it’s a real treat. Thanks to Anna and Adrian for making me feel so welcome ✅

  • We had a great stay. Good location just off the main road but nice and quiet. Nice accommodation. I recommend the Thai restaurant at the entrance to the site!

    Clare2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve just had a lovely 3 night stay in the lodge. The location is really nice and peaceful and is close to Allerthorpe park which is great; lots for our 2 year old and dog to do! The lodge was really clean and homely, and the couches and beds were extremely comfortable! We’re very sad to leave them! The lodge was child and dog friendly, and had everything we needed including lots of nice little extras like family games and dvds. We had some hiccups with the boiler during our stay but Sandra was fantastic at getting them resolved immediately. The host is great at communicating and is very friendly and helpful.

  • Lovely lodge in a nice quiet area a short drive from York. Adults bed was extremely comfortable, well laid out place with everything you need for a break, comfortable, clean and a cracking Thai restaurant a 2 minute walk away. Would stay again.

  • We have just come back from a 3 night stay and i must say, myself, husband and daughter all feel sad now we are home. The park was peaceful and the cabin was so homely and we instantly felt relaxed as soon as we arrived. The cabin was spotless and there was everything you needed. Sandra was very helpful and friendly over messages in which she replied very quickly. My 7 year daughter loved the cabin so much that she could not wait to come back from our days out. I have nothing but good things to say about Sandra's property. We will be back for sure.

    Sarah2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, where to start? This is such a beautiful cottage which has really made the use of its space. The furnishings are so stylish and modern and still keeping in tune with a cottage feel to it. The whole place was sparkling clean and I loved how even the lounge area had some cute unusual decorations in it (and board games!) The little touches in the cottage were the cherry on top of the cake from a welcome basket to having handy facilities such as washing up soap and oil or bathroom facilities such as shampoo etc. My guests and I felt like we were living in luxury for the weekend! Right from the start Sharon was so helpful with keeping in touch and providing very clear instructions for how to find the cottage. The village it's situated in seemed very peaceful and quiet with an easy 30 minute drive to York City centre (easy to book taxis from York also!) We hope to return to this luxurious get-away some time in the near future and would 100% recommend if you are thinking of booking!

  • This was our stay at Emma's amazing house. We had the most relaxing time ever. The house was spotless, thoughtful touches of breakfast cereal, milk, teabags, coffee and biscuits. The children played in the games room, fed the chickens and ran free in the garden. It was a blissful stay and we hope to visit again next year. Thank you Emma!

  • Amazing stay in this gorgeous cottage. The place is vast! Everywhere was clean. Love the lamps everywhere! My girls loved the garden and they were out there for hours running around. Hot tub is a bonus. Very private and certainly very peaceful. Emma has thought of everything that you have forgotten!

    Emma2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The photographs just don't do this little piece of heaven justice. The cottage is extremely spacious, even with 9 people, we died not feel on top of each other. Emma was a perfect host. She was on hand if needed, but did not call in constantly. She left some super touches like welcome biscuits and cereals, beautiful toiletries and individually wrapped slippers for the hot tub. The cottage was immaculate and exceptionally comfortable. We travelled with a disabled adult and a boisterous 9 year old - all were catered for with the accessible features, stunning grounds, chickens and games rooms. We went for a festive break - felt so cosy with the wood burner and array of soft blankets. We definitely will book again. This place is a gem and Emma is a marvellous host.

    Michelle2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Super family or friend group space in the quiet of being in the middle of “no-where” yet near the lovely town of Pocklington or city of York. The garden in the size of a small field and leads to a large wooded area. Ample parking for several vehicles as the house is down a short lane from the main road. Very clean throughout, large family kitchen, open plan dining and large lounge area, and a variety of bedrooms from single beds to double. Emma the host is very friendly and easy to communicate well with if any matters arise. The space can be one large communal space or selectively zoned off with clever use of doors within the space. We are already in the process of booking for next year !

    Julie2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Emma’s place is an ideal getaway for families, especially with older guests. The younger members could explore the woods, and enjoy the hot tub. Had a lovely weekend, Emma is the perfect host.

It is very cosy and homely and Pocklington is very well situated for exploring the Moors, dales, Yorkshire coast and key cities and towns, such as York, Harrogate etc. Pocklington is also a very nice town in its own right. Angela is an attentive and thoughtful host. We took her advice and took a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway - a great day out. Angela’s place is highly recommended if you want a true Yorkshire home away from home.

  • A great place to explore the Wolds from and close to York on the park and ride 15 min drive away. Angela left a bottle of wine and some chocolate biscuits for us which was very thoughtful. House was clean and a trip down memory lane with 80s furnishings and decor but everything worked well and was comfortable. Angela loves next door so was very handy if we had any questions. Would recommend and plenty of room for family of 4.

The space was very comfortable and spacious, helped by the french doors looking onto the chicken filled garden. Perfect for lazing about. There's a fully enclosed patio area downstairs that was ideal for our dog to wonder about in. Michelle was a very easygoing host.

A delightful country cottage style house on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, 1 mile from Pocklington, 10 miles from the historical city of York and 11 miles from the beautiful market town of Beverly with its majestic Minster and famous race course. Barmby Moor is a small village on a bus route to York and Beverley, has a delightful pub and is the centre for many local activities. The village has a church, babbling brook and a small village shop.
My beautiful Victorian style cottage has a modern urban style conservatory with dresser, couch and small TV, leading to a cosy kitchen with table and 4 chairs . The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, upright fridge/ freezer, gas oven/ hob, washing machine/tumble dryer and boiler cupboard. The sitting room with stairs leading to the 2 bedrooms has a rocking chair, large TV and a comfortable corner couch which easily pulls out to a 5ft 3rd bed. The staircase is lit by a full length stained glass window. The property has a brand new, modern wet room with rain forest shower, sink and toilet. The rear bedroom has a single bed with spare mattress underneath, built in wardrobe with spare duvet and pillows. The front double bedroom is light and airy and also has an en-suite toilet and sink.
The cottage is on a small modern estate on the eastern edge of the village. Located in a quiet cul de sac surrounded by open fields. The village is very close to Pocklington, the gateway to the Yorkshire Wolds. We highly recommend visiting the village of Millington with its tea room and pub. The wolds is a fantastic place for walkers and cyclists.

Lots of cozy welcoming touches and although we were out and about nearly all the time if we had been staying longer I would have been quite happy staying in and cooking in the well stocked kitchen. So quite and peaceful too and the bed was most comfortable. A great find.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Gateway Cottage while our own home was flooded. It was the perfect escape and had everything we needed. The house feels so homely and was the perfect place to relax.

  • A lovely home filled with u inquest pieces! Walkable distance to Barmbyfield barns wedding venue.

  • Gateway Cottage is a beautiful little oasis of peace and tranquillity in the pretty village of Barmby Moor. We stayed for 4 nights and all wish we could have stayed much longer. The cottage is beautifully decorated, fully equipped with all you need for a very comfortable stay, clean and tidy with many personal homely touches. The purpose of our stay was mainly to visit friends and family living in York but the cottage is perfectly placed to explore the Yorkshire coast, beautiful countryside and of course the city of York. Pocklington, the nearest town is only a few minutes drive and has all you need in the way of supermarkets, etc. Recommend the Park and Ride for York! Thank you so very much Heather - we will recommend Gateway Cottage to anyone planning a break in Yorkshire and we hope to return very soon!! Nancy & family

  • We have just returned from a lovely 3 night stay at Gateway cottage. Heather was a fantastic host and communication was fast and effective. The cottage was home for us whilst we visited a local festival so it was lovely to come home to such comfort after a long day! The cottage was beautifully clean throughout with a well equipped kitchen with everything we needed and more. Thanks again for having us!

  • Me and my boyfriend stayed in the garden suite over the new year, there’s absolutely nothing we can fault! Chris and Nicky kindly picked us up from York and took us to the property we can’t thank them enough! The garden suite itself was so homely and had everything you needed, the hot tub made the trip for us it’s a great size and very clean

    Caitlin2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • From London to the North, this is a perfect getaway with an insanely hospitable couple who couldn't have been kinder or more generous. They ordered us some meat from the local butcher to make Christmas Day so easy, and went out of their way to make us feel as at home as possible. The hot tub is a lovely way to spend the evening, and the bath is also wonderful. While the space itself is connected to Chris's family home, they are incredibly respectful of private space and even when we were out in the hot tub, they ensured we were always given privacy to relax and unwind.

  • Very nice cosy place, very quiet and peaceful. Chris was incredibly helpful throughout our stay and made sure we aren’t missing anything! Thanks again for such a great experience.

My place is close to nightlife, the city centre, and parks. You’ll love my place because of the location and private bar & hot tub. My place is good for couples, business travellers, families (with kids), and big groups.
  • Fantastic space for a big group. The barn makes this space amazing for parties with no worries. Great to have a dart board and pool table

    Mike2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location, great spot for a get together. The games room/out-house had a great vibe and was perfect as it was separate from the main house!

  • Great place to stay for a weekend away, good location and great value

    James2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay greatly at The Ginnery - lovely location in the countryside just outside York and great amenities for a party with friends! Paired with an incredible host, this is quite a jem.

    Shaun2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Was perfect for our hen do. Could not fault it. The separate barn was good to keep the noisy lot away from people trying to sleep

    Emma2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for an amazing stay!! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Ginnery, the amenities were just perfect for the type of weekend I was after for my Hen weekend! We loved the bar area with the big dining table and that there was a tv in there too! The hot tub was amazing, although we hadn’t realised that if the level drops below a certain point then the water stops heating up, so unfortunately we couldn’t use it on the second night. Some basic instructions for the hot tub might come in handy for any future guests. We got a taxi into York centre on the Friday night using the number on the cupboards in the kitchen but we didn’t notice that there was a “set fare” price and so we paid more than what is on the poster - you must have to specifically ask for the set price? You really have an amazing place though and I will be recommending it to all of my friends! Thank you
