  • This place is a tucked away paradise. We absolutely enjoyed our time at The Crane’s nest. The whole house was beautifully renovated. It is about a mile walk to the beach. It’s quiet and absolutely beautiful. The price was great for all that you get. James was a wonderful host and had coffee for us every morning. They also have OJ, eggs and snacks throughout the kitchen for the guests. We loved this place. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely stay here again!

  • This place is quiet, beautiful, and clean. It really is a full kitchen, and the bed is very comfortable. The downstairs offers allot of gorgeous space to relax in! There are many horses around including some white stallions you can see from the house. I fully recommend this place!

  • The Crane's Nest was an absolutely charming and beautiful home. My mother and I went for a girl's weekend and had a fantastic time in the Lookout. Jason was a perfect host-the house was spotless and nothing was overlooked. We thoroughly enjoyed walking to the beach and watching the horses from our bedroom window. We plan on returning to the Crane's Nest soon!

  • This farmhouse is beautifully renovated. Stylishly, tastefully, and comfortably furnished. There is more than adequate space in the bedroom suites as well as common areas. The setting could not be more serene and peaceful. And it was not difficult to find dining and shopping and other conveniences in the area even in the off-season. We would definitely recommend. Very reasonably priced and property manager was very prompt and responses in hospitable.

  • We absolutely loved staying at Kimberly’s place! She has a lot of thoughtful touches throughout the AIRBNB, including a whole binder full of local recommendations and notes! It was a great choice to get away somewhere remote and quiet for a few days, I would highly recommend! Thank you!

    Addison2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed at Kimberly’s lovely retreat twice and would come back again! It has fabulous charm, cozy and convenient amenities and has always been squeaky clean.

    Erin2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place was very nice, gave me some beach house vibes and since it was by the water it made our stay subtly better. We didnt have the chance to meet the owner but we did run into some others who were staying in another place on the property. it was very clean and the environment was really nice!

    Michael2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kimberly’s place is beautiful and very comfortable. There is a book of local attractions and restaurants and a stack of books about things to do in the local area, right between the easy chairs.

    Sandra2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kimberley's place is a great spot along the 'Rivah' - which you can see from her front yard and walk it in less than a minute. It's a shots drive to Urbana, Kilmarnock, etc. and just off 3 and 17. You essentially have a mini-suite completer with ensuite bathroom, micro, coffeemaker and washer and dryer, and the room has multiple skylights as well as substantial windows to bring in the light. Nice amenities, a comfy bed and cable tv, as well. Just a very nice stay in a very nice spot.

    Jerry2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Kimberly’s Place was super cute, super clean, and an absolute joy to stay in. She was extremely responsive and kind, and even had a binder in the BnB with restaurants, local beaches and views, museums, etc. what a great stay for a great price!

    Kayden2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • This comfy cottage is way cuter in person. Love the ‘Rivah’ decor and thoughtful amenities. Thank you especially for all the local tips, and it was really helpful that you sent it in advance and then had a physical copy in the room.

    Aileen2019-12-07T00:00:00Z

  • My fiancé and I stayed at Michelle’s this weekend, and it was wonderful! We spent much of our time sitting out on the porch by the fire pit drinking wine and looking at the water. Michelle was incredibly responsive and gave us great tips on where to eat and pick up firewood. She even left us a sweet gift as it was Valentine’s Day. We would love to come back!

    Susannah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Moore Cottage is a delightful place to ‘chillax’- the place is beautiful, clean and well maintained. The views are spectacular. Michelle was an amazing host. We look forward to another visit- thanks so much for a wonderful stay.

    Monica2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle's cottage was a little bit of heaven. It was perfect for a restful stay or a base for more athletic activities. The bed was very comfortable and the bed and bath linens were exceptional. All necessities were provided and the cottage was spotless. Not to be missed are early mornings and sunsets on the back porch. Michelle was a great host and made sure all of our needs were met. Hope to return many, many times in the future

    Sandy2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle proved to be an especially hospitable host. The cottage was full of charm (reminiscent, to us, of New England) and many thoughtful touches. Everything was clean, orderly, and comfortable. A couple of very fine restaurants are in easy reach. In all, a fine base from which to explore the Northern Neck.

    Michael2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at the cottage for our anniversary weekend and it was wonderful! The space is perfect with beautiful views and easy access to the water. We spent most of our time on the porch with the fire pit looking out at the water. Check in was easy and there were lots of local reccomendations. We visited willabys, merroir, and the local and all were great! We're already talking about when we can come back! Great Airbnb experience in a cute town!

My family members who stayed here were so impressed and each said they would love to come back. If you get to meet Baxter and Bailey, they love to be petted.

  • Beautiful location right on water. David and Mary Ann were great host and very hospitable. Location is close to some tasty restaurants. We were there in offseason and it was peaceful with very little traffic on roads and water. Space was quaint and clean.

    Steve2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • David and Mary Ann have created a lovely environment in which to stay with extra special touches like coffee, muffins and wine. It was decorated nicely, extremely clean and has a spectacular view of the Rappahannock River! It was a wonderful home base as we enjoyed the many small towns in the area, as well as a delicious Thanksgiving dinner at the Tides Inn restaurant, the Chesapeake. We certainly hope to return in warm weather so we can enjoy the dock and beach. Everything was perfect!

    Frazier2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • David and Mary Ann's place was amazing. They made sure you had wine, white and red. Also, fresh cinnamon apple muffins to go with your morning coffee was such a warm, homey touch. I would definitely stay here again.

    Danielle2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • David and Mary Ann's apartment is the perfect space to relax and take in beautiful river views. We enjoyed lounging on the patio overlooking the river, warming up in the hot tub, seeing the fish feeding around the dock at night, and checking out the local restaurants. For meals/activities, we thoroughly enjoyed Merroir, The Local, Dug In Farms, and Dog and Oyster Vineyard. Rudy's just down the street is also a great place for takeout. The space itself is perfect for two people and the bed was very comfortable. Complimentary wine and muffins were unexpected touches that we really appreciated!

    Megan2019-11-04T00:00:00Z

  • Sally’s cottage is really lovely! Jusy what we were looking for for a family getaway. The surrounding area is beautiful with lots of things to do. My family really enjoyed our stay there and Sally had great local tips for things to see while there.

    Heli2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sally's places was just what the doctor ordered for this overly scheduled work bee. Sally has created a jewel of a cottage with an abundance of perfect touches. From the beautiful colors chosen to the distinctive design, Sally's place envelops you in a warm cocoon of welcome and relaxation. Sally's charming home is only rivaled by the natural beauty of the immediate surroundings. Additionally, she provides detailed, easy-to-follow instructions for check in along with a helpful guide to local scenic spots. If you want an easy, relaxing experience in a sweet cottage, Sally's place is for you.

    Alicia2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing experience! Stellar communication from Sally - with explicit instructions. Very helpful in providing check in details right before we arrived. When we got to the house, check in was great, and the house is gorgeous. Easy to get to, space to park, exceptionally clean with little touches to make our stay perfect... . Peaceful surroundings enabling us to just relax in the evenings. It's so close to so many wineries in the area and that's a perk... my fave was the Dog & the Oyster - easy to get to barely 15 mins drive away. We also managed to get into the quaint town of Kilmarnock for dinner. The immediate area around this cute cottage was lovely - trees, greenery and the river.. made for lovely evening walks. • Enjoyed my stay in the cottage. It was very clean and comfortable. I found lots of places to go fishing around the area and recommend getting some squid for bait from the 7-11 in town.

In the northern part of Gloucester County, 10 miles outside of Gloucester village.Down a 1 mile dirt road away from all the hustle and bustle of the world, in the middle of the woods sits a little cabin, it sleeps 4 people comfortably. A queen size bed, and a pull out sofa bed. There is a nice size bathroom with a shower, a small kitchen area with a dorm fridge, microwave, hot plate, toaster and coffee maker. There is coffee provided and creamer and sugar. About 55 minutes from Williamsburg.
Our cabin is a tiny house, it has it's own parking, and it's own yard with fire pit. We are on the Beaver dam resavoir, with 9 miles of hiking/horse back riding trails. We have room for horse trailers and 4 acres of pasture. If you love nature and animals this is the place for you. It's not fancy, but it is brand new and very comfortable. We live on the property and can answer any questions you may have, or we can just leave you alone. Enjoy the evening by the fire pit 🔥, firewood is provided. There is no light pollution so the stars look like you can just pluck them out of the sky. All three of our units are on the same property, they can be booked at the same time for families or groups that want to stay at the same place.

  • Great little cabin. We can’t wait to go back!

  • Beautiful little farm with kind and super sweet animals. Beautiful forest and lake to go for long walks. I think it would be the perfect place for family holidays.

    Aline2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Visiting Wittsend was an all-around wonderful experience for our family. Our children were enthralled by the animals - as were we! - and Connie was such a warm and helpful hostess. My son is scared of dogs, but he even warmed up to the dogs a bit while we were there because everything felt so safe and comfortable. The reservoir is within walking distance, and there is a 7-mile trail for nature enthusiasts, as well as fun stuff to do in town for families with kids. It's worth checking out the Gloucester library! And eat all the eggs. They are worth heating up that hot plate every morning. There was nothing about this trip I disliked. It was all wonderful. We will be back.

    David2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a diamond hidden back in the woods. Yes, it's at the VERY end of the dirt road so you are heading in the right direction when you make that turn in...when you walk in the tiny house, you enter another world....the little noises from the animals relax you, the environment is quaint, the animals tons of fun...and if you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle, this is the place! We enjoyed the trails, took a walk to the waters edge and enjoyed the peace and quiet. I can't wait to go back!

    Tracie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A crazy storm passed through the area the night before our last minute stay. It downed trees and took the power out at Witts End - our trip to the farm has been delayed. But Connie and Allen welcomed us back for a future stay when the weather gets a bit better. They were kind and communicated quickly. We look forward to visiting soon! :)

    Heather And Guy2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to enjoy animals and a secluded atmostphere!

    Brendan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • They were so sweet. It was raining the first day and Connie made sure the animals wee available when the rain stopped. They brought us fresh eggs on the last day for us to make for breakfast. We will definitely be coming back.

    David2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

The house is located right on the water for easy access by land or boat. Upon entering, the house was especially clean and simple. The Boathouse made our weekend perfect.

  • House was spotless and a perfect little “rivah” cottage! Super convenient as a base for a weekend sailing course across the creek at Norton’s. Loved sitting on the deck watching all the boats come in and out of the marinas. Communication was excellent and checkin was easy and convenient. Thanks for being great hosts!

  • Carlton & his team were very responsive to all inquiries and thoughtful in the setup of this home. The details that make the house work so well for travelers where seen throughout. The location is unique & ideal. Our visit was to renew our acquaintances from 10 years of boating in the area, and this location is prize for the Deltaville area! Loved watching the boats and visiting the marinas & old friends.

    Sherry2019-09-26T00:00:00Z

Relax and leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind. We have converted our basement into a cozy efficiency apartment, with views of beaver dam trail. The bathroom has a separate shower and tub. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, tabletop oven and hot plate, a refrigerator with a separate freezer. The rustic decor reflects the farm life that we love so much. There are free range chickens, ducks, and goats. All are friendly and love attention, they love to hang out by the basement.
Our little mini farm is more like a petting zoo with livestock. We have two miniature cows for cuddling, a miniature horse, and lots of other ducks and chickens. Fresh eggs are provided daily. The beaver dam trail comes right behind our house and there are 9 miles of hiking trails along the resavoir. We have space for horse trailers if you want to trail ride.
We are at the very end of a one mile dirt road, definitely off the beaten path, but that is the appeal. The only noises you will hear is the wild geese on the resavoir, the roosters, the woodpeckers and frogs.
  • The apartment was very clean and in a great location. The hosts were very nice.

Lovely little quiet open plan cottage on the Corrotoman. Great views out to the Rappahannock. Wonderful private dock for crabbing, fishing, birdwatching or just relaxing. Nice little sand beach to get into the water and swim, kayak or float. Unplug and unwind on the porch, in a hammock or on the water.
Shaq-ri-la is right on the Corrotoman near Yankee Point Marina and the Merry Point Ferry. You probably won’t want to go anywhere once you settled into the porch and hung out on the dock. Belle Island State Park is nearby and it’s not too far a drive to Kilmarnock.
Yankee Point Marina with boat ramp, store, cafe & pool. Merry Point Ferry, free cable ferry that takes you across the Corrotoman for a shortcut to Kilmarnock & Irvington. Belle Isle State Park is just a few miles up the road.
  • It’s a great house, Beautiful Sunrise very comfortable bed. Very secluded and no WiFi really helps you reconnect with your significant other. We had a great time. Would visit the house again

    Maureen2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were in the area for a family wedding. Everything was perfect. Loved the enclosed porch and the fireplace! The “unplugged” aspect of the home also allowed us to take advantage of spending more quality time with each other away from our devices. The bikes were a great added touch as well! We enjoyed a nice morning bike ride. Would definitely recommend this spot for a nice secluded get away.

  • Beautiful location! Things we clean and neat and the home’s layout made for a very comfortable stay for my boyfriend and I. There was the perfect amount of amenities and the view from the house was gorgeous. Amanda was super easy to get ahold of and communicate with. We are excited to hopefully stay there again in the future! Everything was perfect.

    Kylie2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing getaway destination. I was planning on just taking it easy and enjoying a nice view while reading books or playing games, but we ended up having so much fun I didn't read at all on this trip. Amanda suggested a local moonlight canoe tour at the nearby state park the first night and it was just lovely. Amanda also had crab pots available and kayaks and the next day we spent crabbing and kayaking the river right there. There weren't many boats on the water and it was such a joy to be out kayaking. We actually went pretty far. She had lifevests available in each kayak so you don't have to worry about safety. There was also bottled waters available for drinking (not because the local water is bad, but just different.) The porch was one of my favorite features. We enjoyed our crabs out there and could see the moon and water easily. This is a remarkable little getaway and I cannot wait to visit again!!! I highly recommend it. You will NOT be disappointed!!!!

Cozy warm cabin! Large kitchen with eating area, bath with tub/shower, bedroom with queen bed, family room with a queen pull out sofa. Large screened in porch with wonderful views of the Bay. This property is located in Cross Rip campground. Guests of the cabin have access to the beach and pier. This cabin also has an adjoining cabin (like at a hotel) that will sleep an additional 4. Please see our listing for The Stateroom.
  • Cabin is very charming and easy to be in. Bay was beautiful. Bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the spacious kitchen, the games, and the quiet of the winter visit. The well water is a bit mineraly and you may want to pack a lemon or lime to enjoy your water better if you’re finicky like me.

  • Loved staying at the cottage. It was just so perfect, beautiful and peaceful during our weekday getaway! Rebecca was so fun and lovely, and we just fell in love with the place. We will be back for sure!!

  • This cabin is a "hidden gem" on the Chesapeake Bay! It is such an inviting space - tastefully decorated with lots of charm! The sheets were soft & the beds slept great! The kitchen is well stocked with all kinds of spices and essentials and a great size for cooking! The screen porch is large and has wonderful views of the Bay! We enjoyed fishing on the pier, riding bikes, relaxing by the water and exploring the area; especially, the Deltaville Maritime Museum which is just a couple of miles away, and the towns of Mathews and Gloucester! We found the hosts to be so hospitable and they really pay attention to all the details that make your stay enjoyable! There were only a few other cabins/campsites in use during our stay and we found the campground to be quiet and relaxing; and the other visitors very friendly. We will definitely plan to visit again! We really enjoyed it as a family and wished we had booked more nights to stay!

  • Book it, you won't regret it! Very well stocked with little extras. A great setting for families, couples, or individuals. We saw a beautiful sunrise over the bay, and they have gear and things to do at the campgrounds for a full day (or more) of fun.

  • It was our anniversary and Rebecca left us a chilled bottle of champagne.

    Roger2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot near the end of the peninsula. The cabin was comfortable and cozy. Great kitchen and separate living room to relax in. The sunrise over the water was beautiful.

  • I felt like I was coming home from the moment I walked in the door. The space is so cozy and inviting and there are so many special little touches that made my stay even better than I could have imagined. The views are amazing and it is so peaceful and quiet. This was the perfect getaway for me and I honestly didn't want to leave. After showing off all my photos and talking about my stay, my friends and I are already planning a girl's trip!!

    Lexie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a little piece of Heaven. AMAZING view! I came to have some alone time with myself and nature. The room is big enough for one person or two really close people. Not much space for meal prep or storage. Although, there is a grill just outside. What sold me about this space is the peace and quiet, wood burning fireplace, a swing hanging between 2 big trees, and the pier. Carol was welcoming and attentive to my needs.

    Stacey2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • wow, what a spot! if you are looking for privacy, nature, water, seclusion, and a perfect little spot - book this place now. private entrance to the downstairs in-law suite, it opens up right to the most gorgeous water view. we were here in frigid january, but i can only imagine the fun we would have in the warmer months with our kayaks and fishing poles. the selling point for us was the water, but also the the wood burning fireplace. carol and john supply the wood and we just loved it. you sit in front of the fire, and if you turn around you are looking at the water - could not be a more perfect set up. we made a fire both nights and sat in front of it talking and drinking wine for hours. we never even turned on the TV, which tells you something. we had planned to spend our 3 day weekend searching the areas for a future property purchase, but we barely left this place - we just loved it so much. also, if you are an animal person - don't miss meeting their greyhound RJ. the world's most perfect dog, we fell in love. carol was such a great host - every helpful touch is premeditated and ready for your arrival. excellent communication, and we very much enjoyed our chats with her. you'll love it.

    Chris2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Carol and John’s place was exactly what we needed for a weekend of peace, quiet, and a return to nature. Carol was beyond hospitable and so communicative as we had questions prior to staying about the fireplace and fire pit (both of which were so relaxing and cozy) and the dinghy (which we took out on the calm and beautiful water). There’s no kitchen but there’s a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and a griddle/grill combo outside which you can easily cook on (we made eggs with potatoes, onions, and peppers with no trouble and in fact quite lovely to cook outside there). Carol was kind enough to give us the tour when we arrived and explained everything and everything was carefully labeled with instructions which was very appreciated. She provided so many little touches we didn’t expect that made the stay stress-free and so easy. Not even going to try and do the view justice. I just have a few words: calm waters, beautiful trees, amazing wildlife including all kinds of birds to watch, a porch swing and a real swing which is a must do, a private dock, and a private solitude that can’t be beat. We didn’t want to leave! Do yourself a favor and book this place! We got lucky and booked on a weekend with freakishly good weather but even so, we will be back in the summer or fall for the changing leaves and breeze :)

    Patrick2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend this unit for two adults. It was charming, clean and everything we had hoped it would be given the information shared on the Airbnb site. You can’t go wrong with this rental. Carol, the hostess was a great communicator and very helpful with being available upon our arrival. A very private and very convenient location. We will rent the space again in the future.

    Christine2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Mary’s place was amazing! The place is a bit secluded which is perfect for if you want to just get away from society. It is really beautiful on the inside, just know that there is no WiFi like she stated so you better have either unlimited data or a hotspot. The amenities she offered catered to all of our needs. Mary is very prompt when responding and I can definitely see us returning.

Mad Calf Cottage is a lovely destination for a romantic getaway. From the plush linens to the soft lighting to the generous master shower for two, this quaint cottage in the heart of Irvington is good for the soul(s). The photographs tell most of the story, but not all. Here you are a short bike ride away from the iconic Tides Inn resort as well as Irvington’s own vineyard for wine tastings, the Local coffee shop, the Steamboat Era museum, The Vine Wine Bar, Trick Dog Café and many more shops and attractions. Irvington is a historic town on the Chesapeake Bay, home to sea captains and watermen who defined an era that lives on in the architecture and streets and, of course, the menus of the town. Or you can stay home. Mad Calf Cottage includes a luxurious Master Bedroom with a King size bed, exquisite linens and down pillows. The en suite bath boasts a double vanity complete with all amenities you would expect to find in an upscale resort. The romantic shower for two is all tile with shower head, rain head and a convenient hand-held shower wand. There is also an outdoor shower for those preferring to be with mother nature. The over-sized porch is a delightful place for your morning coffee and for your evening sunsets. If your visit is during the cooler months, curl up next to the outdoor fireplace with a glass of wine and turn on some romantic music and, well, see where that goes. The kitchen is equipped with a full-size fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher. All dishes, pots and pans and cutlery as well as other small appliances are there for your added convenience. Bicycles and tennis racquets (tennis courts in town) are complimentary. Kayaks and paddle boards are available for a small fee. Mad Calf Cottage awaits. Make your reservation today.
  • Mad Calf Cottage is perfection! Lara and David are wonderful, thoughtful hosts. We spent the weekend there for my 40th birthday and it was so lovely. The cottage is exactly as pictured. It was stylish yet homey, comfortable, exceptionally clean and well appointed. It is clear that Lara and David took great care in not only decorating but also in the special touches throughout. Knowing it was my birthday, they left a bottle of prosecco on ice (in addition to snacks and chocolates) for us to enjoy upon our arrival which was a delightful surprise. Lara gave me detailed information on the area and advice on restaurants. Taking her up on her suggestion, we ate at Adrift on Friday night. It was so good! But the show stopper was our dinner at the Hope and Glory Inn. Delicious is an insufficient descriptor. It was a meal I will not soon forget! There's nothing like having a cozy place to relax after we went on our adventures in the area and Mad Calf Cottage was exactly what we needed. It couldn't have been better. We hope to be back soon!

    Sherry2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mad Calf Cottage is amazing!! Sparkling clean and comfortable from the couches to the bed and pillows! We loved enjoying a glass of wine on the dock! We would definitely recommend this cozy spot and we will be back!!

    Ann2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our romantic weekend. The cottage is above par, beautifully decorated, and immaculate. We utilized the bikes for a nice ride through town to visit the local winery. The dock was an added plus to sit just before sunset. We certainly plan on booking another stay!

    Janine2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Well, here’s the thing—you won’t want to leave. Lara has created a stunning oasis by the water in the sweet small town of Irvington. The finishes are modern and comfortable, including gleaming hardwood floors and plenty of comfortable outdoor seating spots. While certainly perfect for a romantic getaway, you’d find it an equally ideal spot for a creative retreat. Even before I arrived, I felt I was visiting a friend who included thoughtful touches like great dining recommendations, a hand written welcome, custom security code (no keys needed), and even a surprise toast for the New Year. Walk, bike, sit by the fire, swing on the porch, take yourself down to the dock and soak in the natural tranquility and beauty of this southern Virginia town. You’ll be glad you did, any time of year.

    Patricia2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a great Airbnb! Lara's cottage is beautiful and conveniently located with just about everything you could need (including a very detailed recommendations list that came in very handy). Great amenities and all of the birthday-specific touches were really thoughtful! Being the middle of December it was a bit too cold to enjoy all the fun water activities/dock - we'll definitely be back in the warmer months!

    Ericka2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a delightful stay and the mad calf. The pictures are accurate but still do not seem to do the place justice. It is a fantastic space, cozy, and with anything you could possibly need while away from home. This will be my first choice place to stay when I come back.

    Chris2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Hands down the nicest, cleanest Airbnb I have ever stayed in (and I've stayed in a lot of them!). We went down to Irvington for the weekend, as I had reserved for us to go on the nearby Tides Inn's Oyster Academy experience as a surprise birthday gift for my husband. The night before we checked into Lara's Airbnb, the Inn abruptly emailed to tell me Oyster Academy was canceled. Huge bummer! We made the trip down anyway and we are so glad we did. The spacious and luxe Mad Calf cottage was enough to make the 5 hour drive worth it! It was a much needed getaway for us and I am so thankful I booked Mad Calf and didn't book a room at the Inn instead. Upon hearing about our misfortune, Lara told me about a wine and oyster crawl in the nearby wineries, so we did have something to do, in addition to the suggestions she has neatly laid out in the cottage binder. When we arrived, there was a bottle of chilled wine and snacks for us to enjoy. We made a fire in the pit and relaxed with some wine. Thank you Lara! We will return!

    Gisela2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second stay at Mad Calf Cottage. We were one of the first guests two years ago and I was stunned that nothing has changed. The place is a cozy retreat that has been kept in impeccable condition. Lara has thought of every little detail which makes you feel like you are staying in a high end hotel. Her communication is fantastic and prompt. My husband and I remarked to each other many times during our stay how perfect the cottage was. I really have no suggestions for improvement because IT WAS PERFECT. It is likely we will be back again and again. Thanks again for taking such obvious pride in ownership. It does not go unnoticed!!

"Now this is the life!" "A little piece of paradise!" "Livin the Dream!" "It doesn't get any better than this!" Just a few thoughts that may cross your mind when you come for a stay at The Cottage at Misti Cove. While the name may be simple, don't let that fool you, for so are the best things in life! However, extraordinary amenities run a close second and this cottage offers extra helpings of each for the best of both worlds! Here, you'll enjoy resort-like amenities without resort crowds.
Closest distance from water to actual house you'll find anywhere in the area on AirBnb. So close you could cast a fishing line from the deck into the water. You'll actually need to go further out to catch a fish but the the point is you could.
Small private neighborhood of about 22 homes in a mostly rural area. You might see deer, turkey, and eagles. Marina and grocery nearby though. Our cottage is the only rental. Only about 3 owners live year-round in the neighborhood so you get resort-like amenities without the crowds....... private hot tub, private water access via stairs on property, and a few other amenities only available to owners and guests of owners like outdoor pool, beach area, pier, tennis court, and basketball goal.
  • We had a wonderful stay. The place, view and the furniture are all amazing. We really enjoyed it and planning to come back! Thanks

“Simple elegance to sooth the soul…” Another lovely comment from another happy guest. Mint Julep cottage aspires to be the most beautiful & comfortable - yet pet friendly - cottage in Irvington. Newly constructed and located across from the Tides Inn, it is easy walking distance shopa, restaurants, & retail spaces. Museums, fishing, & boating abound. Stay, Enjoy and Relax... PS... EVERYONE is welcome to Mint Julep. There is a $50, private pay, pet fee. Just leave the money on the table.
"Modern meets Shaker" is how one guest described the vibe.... 1000 sq feet and a huge back porch. Come enjoy!
A rebuilt waterman's cottage across the entrance to the Tides Inn... it doesn't get any better than this.
  • The Mint Julip is a lovely place to stay right in Irvington. Loved the kitchen and the deck!

  • Lillian’s place was ABSOLUTELY perfect! Three of my girlfriends and I came to Irvington for a girls weekend getaway trip from Richmond. We couldn’t be happier with our stay. The house is adorable on the outside and even better on the inside. It was impeccably clean and well-decorated. We kept commenting about how there are little things that really make a difference (hooks in the right places, long mirror in the bathroom, bottle opener by the back deck, etc.). Since it was a chilly January trip, we loved sitting in front of the fireplace at night. And I stayed in the king bed upstairs and it was so comfortable and the sheets were so pretty and soft. We were right next door to the Dog and Oyster vineyard, and loved doing a tasting and eating oysters. We also visited Merroir for lunch, Dredge for dinner, The Local for breakfast (we love the B-Triple-C there!!!), NN Burger for lunch and the Dub Shack for dinner. We drove out to Windmill Point to see the water. We also went to Good Luck Cellar for a wine tasting in Kilmarnock and it was SO good and the staff was awesome. Unfortunately The Tides Inn and Adrift were closed for the season or we could’ve visited those, too. The house is in the perfect location to do all of the above, and it’s so comfortable and welcoming that we enjoyed hanging out around the living room in front of the fire and on the awesome screened-in porch. We would definitely love to visit again!!!

  • Charming, cozy, relaxing, clean , well-appointed, and in a quiet location. This was perfect for our get-a-away this fall. Lillian had the cottage ready for our arrival and provided us with great local info. Check out The Vine for vino and small plates.

  • We loved this little cottage. It was clean, comfortable and cozy! There were so many lovely features like the screened in back porch. Check in and check out was easy and the host had great communication! I would highly recommend!!

  • Lillian's place is picture perfect!! My husband and I rented Etta's place for us and the rest of our wedding party to have brunch, get ready and take pictures before our wedding at my childhood home in the upper part of the county. The "tent" is GORGEOUS and Lillian was very quick to respond to any and all questions we had. I would absolutely recommend a stay a here in sweet little Irvington.

  • The Teenie Weenie Guest House was big on comfort and amenities! In addition the cozy furniture and beautiful decor, my husband and I were so impressed by all of the special touches that Lisa included with the house: coffee, bottled water, candy, games, bedside lamps with USB outlets. . . . She really thought of everything to make our stay perfect. We only wish that we could have stayed longer at this lovely little house.

  • Great River Watch is a beautiful waterfront property. The house is very stylish and nicely decorated. The kitchen is fully supplied. We had great time inside the house and on the dock. We caught many crabs using just crab lines but we didn't catch a single fish. We did catch a few eels though. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would love to come back. Will recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a quality time with families and friends.

    Tochau2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very well decorated. Location on the river was great. We loved that it was snuggled back in the trees away from all the neighbors. The house was stocked with any and all things we could have possibly needed! It was very clean. The only negatives were the jelly fish in the river and 20 minute trek into town.

    Janelle2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This a gorgeous place with a great water view. Tons of good crabbing right off the dock. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway this is for you. Amy has done a great job of making sure everything you need is there. Modern appliances, great deck, grill, seating, etc . We look forward to another visit this fall

This cabin started out as a wheel house from a retired boat and was added on to. It is directly on the water with a large screened in porch. It has a galley kitchen, small bath with a shower. The living room houses the kitchen table, 2 twin beds a twin pull out sofa. The wheel house has a twin bed (best for a child).
The cabin is located in a campground
  • Thank you and we look forward to coming back!

  • We really enjoyed staying in the Virginia Dare. It is a quirky and comfortable little cabin with a wonderful porch with a great view of the bay. Waking up to the sound of the waves and bird was lovely. It, and the whole are, is truly very special. Rebecca and Katherine are great hosts.

    Juliette2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Virginia Dare Cabin is a wonderful space of quiet and contentment.

    Lydia2019-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place (Cross-Rip campground) was AMAZING!! We were greeted on arrival by Rebecca, and it was a wonderful and relaxing stay. The cottage we selected (Virginia Dare cottage) was comfy; quirky (its focal point is an old tug wheelhouse overlooking the Chesapeake Bay); and so relaxing! Our hosts went above and beyond our expectations, providing fresh water for drinking and coffee (as opposed to the local well water), the makings for a good breakfast, and ANYTHING we needed to complete a relaxing few days away from the rat-race. Semi-tame squirrels that will eat from your hand (obligatory disclaimer here...these are wild animals and do not feed them if you are not confident with your abilities to do-so safely), a local pond with turtles that you can safely feed with provided turtle-safe food from a pier, breathtaking views of the Chesapeake bay, fire-pits, swimming areas, crabbing, and SO MUCH more complete the 'back to nature' experience. If you are expecting the Hilton experience - then go to the Hilton. If you want to unwind in a peaceful and relaxing environment, while enjoying the nature around you with super sweet and attentive hosts...then this is the place for you!

  • Great view and Rebecca is a fabulous host. Very unique cabin. Very clean and we love the screened in porch overlooking the water.

    Katherine2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place! The location is amazing you are just feet from the water. The wheelhouse allows for viewing the water in any kind-of weather (great for viewing the full moon) and adds lots of charm. It was perfect for my husband and I, nice and cozy. Our hosts were stellar, very responsive. I'd love to go back.

  • Suzanne’s place is a quaint and charming space. It is in an excellent location which allows easy access to shops and restaurants in Urbana. It also offers the opportunity to visit other towns that are just a short drive away. She was prompt in answering any questions. We had perfect fall weather and just loved sitting and chatting on the porch. We will be back again for sure.
