  • Great place to stay. We were only passing through, so we were at the house less than 12 hours total, but wish we could have stayed longer. There were 3 comfortable rooms with 4 beds. The farm looked like a fun place to explore, but we simply didnt have time but hearing cows give the occasional moo in the morning was great.

  • This farm getaway is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city! The house is so nice and homey, you will want to spend days! It’s spacious, well decorated, and very clean! Alison was very easy to coordinate with and bonus, they have Scottish Highland cows which are adorable! :) The stars are also incredible out in the country! Well worth the drive out!

  • Or stay at your farm could not have been made any more special than it was. The home is so clean and comfortable, the porch and swing make slowing down easy, and the pups greeted us everyday with love and attention. We loved meeting you and your family, and seeing the farm in action. I'm still thinking about your beautiful horse and whether she had her foal yet?

  • Awesome location!! It was so peaceful and beautiful around the house. I would recommend this Ranch house getaway.

  • This is a fabulous cabin on a huge beautiful property. Everything was in ship shape and Mary was very responsive to the individual needs of our group. I can highly recommend this place for anyone seeking to get away into nature and yet have easy access to local culture and amenities. Can't say enough good things about our exceptional host and their lovely home!

  • I highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a serene, cozy stay close to several attractions like the crabtree falls, vineyards and a lavender farm, to name a few. The host kept this place extremely neat and organized. We had fun making s'mores over the firepit too! Definitely a memorable stay.

  • Thank you! The house and location was beautiful . The 2nd night when we came back to the cabin we had several deer in the back yard which throughly delighted my nine year old . The small touches all over the cabin make you feel right at home . We absolutely enjoyed our visit!

  • It was a great place off the beaten path that was just what I was looking for! She had everything there and it was all so neat and kept up. Only stayed one night but if time allowed it would’ve been longer. 10/10 recommend staying here.

    Charlie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amber’s place is a little bit of heaven. Truest a5 Star experience and something I’ll revisit.

    Becca2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This Bnb is great. I highly recommend it

    Timothy2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amber’s place was great! We had a great time staying in her place! Amber had everything we needed, and was very helpful with the check in and check out procedures. Our favorite part of the trip was being greeted by the friendly animals every time we would return back to the b&b! Would definitely stay again sometime soon!

    Alan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A great house with a fantastic view! We loved seeing the cows and the friendly dog who greeted us multiple times. The house was just what we wanted for the weekend and we could tell Amber had put a lot of thought into making sure guests had everything needed to make the stay as comfortable and convenient as possible.

    Jack2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This space was perfect for the two of us. The small things really made our stay that much better. The view is beautiful, and their dog is such a sweetheart!

    Lauren2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Amber’s guest house was one of our favorites yet. We just stayed for one night but wish we were able to stay much longer. Everything about the property was gorgeous and the guest house was perfectly comforting, and we felt more than welcomed. The best part of our stay may be the sweet dog greeting us as we pulled up.

Private bedroom with en suite bath. Quiet, secluded, rural area, equi-distant between Staunton and Lexington. Easy on/off interstate. Close to Blue Ridge Parkway, local vineyard, brewery, historical sites.
Tree lined private yard in quiet neighborhood. Cozy, comfortable room with queen sized bed.
We are easily accessible from I-81 in a rural neighborhood.
  • Tucked away in a beautiful setting, if you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place to come. The room has all of those special touches (chocolates and cookies) that make you feel especially welcome. Pilot and Radar, two very friendly, lovely, and well-behaved dogs made us feel like part of the family. We would recommend Matt and Lynne's place to anyone wanting a quiet, scenic get away.

    Hope2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay when visiting Lexington. Most awesome hosts provided very pleasant conversation and that 1st cup of coffee in the am. Room is spacious and very comfortable, many extra conveniences that were not expected. Highly recommend!

    Don2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place to stay with understanding and respectful owners. I used their place for one night for a friend's wedding in Lexington. Very flexible with my schedule as I was coming down from Arlington Virginia. Would stay again if I needed to!

    Dustin2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated space and very comfortable! Thoughtful touches are found everywhere to make you feel at home.

    Jessica2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Matt and Lynne have lovely home that is easily accessible from the highway. They are communicative and welcoming, and I would be delighted to stay with them again!

    Sarah2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne was a fantastic host. In our situation there was a slight hiccup, and Lynne worked hard to make sure everything went smoothly. Follow the directions carefully! Don't use your GPS to guide you! Lynne warned me, the house is five minutes off the highway, but Google wanted me to add twenty minutes of backroad. Listen to Lynne! There are three cats, and they are pleasant chaps. Not intrusive, and not allowed in the guest rooms, but available for pets. If coming at night, like us, use caution- the roads are dark. Thank you, Lynne and Matt!

    Steven2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Matt and Lynne were amazing hosts. From the very begining, they were quick and thorough communicators who made scheduling and arriving very smooth. The room was very clean and they made sure we had everything we needed from water waiting in the room to chocolates on the nightstand. The location is absolutely beautiful with an amazing view of the mountains from upstairs where they had breakfast and coffee available. We would definitely recommend them.

    Bre2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to stay. Lynne is a gracious host (did not get to meet Matt). There home is very easy to get to off I-81 and about 5 minutes from interstate. The room was very comfortable, clean, and private. As soon as you turn into the driveway, it seems that you are entering a beautiful park. Views are very nice. Fairfield is a nice little town right in between Lexington and Staunton. I highly recommend this airbnb.

Quiet and private barn apartment located less than 10 miles from Lexington, Virginia.
  • Very nice stay

    Sean2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Craig’s place is clean, fully updated, and less than 15 minutes from downtown Lexington. Very private and easy to find (if you’re showing up after dark, let Craig know so he can turn on the porch light!). The host had a great suggestion to head down to the Chessie Nature Trail, so we spent a couple of hours exploring and enjoying our time by the river, even on a brisk February day. Lexington has a lot to offer for a small town, don’t miss out on the VMI Museum or the Chessie Nature Trail, and definitely check out some of the local restaurants! I have celiac disease and I’m gluten free - many restaurants had plenty of options for me, which can be a struggle sometimes in the South and in rural areas. Not here! We loved every second of our stay.

    Alexa2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot in a convenient location. Craig was very helpful with local recommendations and quick responses. Check in was smooth and the place had very thoughtful touches. Very comfortable- felt like home!

    Kelly2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Craig was quick to respond and very local recommendations! We had dinner at the brewery about ten minutes away and it has awesome views. The barn was clean, quiet, and cozy. All of the amenities were great and check in/out was very easy! We had a great stay at the barn!

    Christine2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The space was great! A fantastic weekend getaway.

    Elizabeth2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a great stay! Beautiful place

    Cliff2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Craig's place at the barn was exactly what we were looking for--private, peaceful, and full of perfect touches that made it home, but close to all the restaurants, shops, and locations that Lexington has to offer. We were just minutes away from everything we wanted to do during our stay, but Craig's little home-away-from-home was so well-appointed, accessible, and peaceful that we found ourselves staying in more than we had planned. It was exactly what we were looking for, and we both recommend it and will look to utilize it again in the future!

    Tony2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the barn apartment was so relaxing. What a great stay for a romantic weekend getaway. We were close to everything we needed/wanted, and felt so cozy in the space.

  • This place is super cute! The tipi is a unique blend of cozy, private yet accessible. It was fun hanging out with the furry friends. Sara and Jeremiah are friendly hosts and it was a pleasure meeting them. Highly recommend checking it out!

    Faraz2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I spent two nights in this amazing tipi, and we could not have asked for a better trip. The land was gorgeous and full of amazing farm animals. Sara and Jeremiah were both so welcoming. We will definitely be back and hopefully keep this beautiful tipi as our anniversary spot.

    Kathryn2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • A magical time with so many thoughtful and creative touches. Don’t miss this alluring experience. 🌙

    Lisa2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a must see. It’s one of the best hidden gems we’ve ever encountered. Amazing bang for the buck and Sara, Jeremiah, Papa Beebes and all the “fury loved ones” treated us like a king and queen. Do not hesitate to check this place out.

    Allen2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect getaway for a night. Sara and Jeremiah were wonderful hosts — kind, helpful, and welcoming. It was a cold night, but the teepee was warm and cozy with plenty of blankets and a heater. There’s also a deck with seating and a nice chiminea for a fire (they provide all you need to start it). The stars were incredible. In the morning, we woke up to a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge mountains. The entire property is breathtaking. We will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a unique experience and/or an escape.

    Micah2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We HIGHLY recommend this sweet little place. It is cozy, peaceful, and a one of a kind experience. The mountain views, farm animals, hosts, family pets, greenhouse, and of course the tipi all made our stay unlike anything we could experience anywhere else. It was a really special trip :) Don’t miss out!

    Jenny2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ethan and I had an amazing stay here! Sara and Jeremiah went above and beyond to make us feel at home and we absolutely loved all their animals and their property is gorgeous. We had a campfire and made burgers on the grill our first night and took Sara’s suggestion and hiked the beautiful Crab Tree Falls the next day. The tipi itself was amazing - it was so clean and super cozy and even though it was cold and windy outside we stayed nice and toasty. We both would love to come back again!

    Samantha2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in the Tipi was so fun and whimsical. The sleep number bed was a great bonus. The campfire area was perfect for a night to sit outside. The host was so inviting and made us feel welcome

  • The hobbit home is beautiful, Randy and Linda are both very kind and helpful. It was a perfect little getaway!

    Danielle2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • If you're a lord of the rings fan, you're doing yourself a disservice if you've never gone here. The hobbit home is authentic and beautiful with so many tiny details you will spend hours discovering for yourself. The owners warmly greet you and immediately make you feel like family. You get a wonderful tour of everything once you arrive by the owner/wizard himself. The outside of Hobbiton was just as beautiful and fun to explore especially at night sitting on the romantically candle lit floating ferry with your loved one. After our check out the owner invited us to his woodshop to see how all the magic is made. He was as humble and delightful as he was a master at his craft, showing us some of his wood carving techniques. I highly recommend taking one of the wood classes he offers, but there is no pressure to do so by any means. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our experience there. My wife and I are already planning another journey :). You will not meet friendlier B&B owners, at least in my own experience. Do not hesitate on this experience, you will NOT be disappointed. Also the complimentary seed cake the owners wife makes is amazing!

    Morla2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Randy and Linda’s hobbit dream house was dream! All the details that they put into the house truly blew our minds. We attended Randy’s wood workshop which was such a fun experience! Already looking to book next years visit. Thanks Randy and Linda for such an amazing experience!

    Virginia2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Randy and Linda are absolutely delightful hosts. With a space as beautiful and unique as theirs is it would be so easy to rest on that and have minimal contact with guests. However they really go the extra mile to make sure that your stay feels like an extension of home. Both in the initial greeting, down to check ins and recommendations to make sure you are doing okay. We participated in the pipe and broom making workshops - an absolutely great investment of our time on our honeymoon. It was so great to be able to make things together and was a great value for the length of time that randy spent with us. Not only on our specific projects - but just showing us what they do and how. Never felt pressured or inept while working with someone so skilled. Cannot recommend this stay enough!!!

    Amanda2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say, "A Hobbit's Dream" was a literal dream - and this is coming from someone who has not read the books nor watched the movies. I snatched this place up when I saw a rare opening that fit with my schedule because my significant other is a huge LOTR fan. Although it was one night, I figured one night was better than never experiencing this AirBnB and I'm so glad we went all in. Randy and Linda are a delight - they met us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the location. We were treated to little gifts, the most delicious seed cake, and complimentary red wine. The amount of props and history in this little hobbit hole is unfathomable, but what touched me greatly was the amount of love and work put into this spectacular living space. We had a wonderful time playing dress up, enjoying the solitude of the property, and (at least for me) learning more about the world JRR Tolkien created. It was also wonderful that Lexington was just a short 15 minute drive away so that we could step out and enjoy the small town and dinner before heading back. My significant other also participated in the pipe-making class and Randy went above and beyond gently guiding him through the process, never making us feel rushed or unwanted. We enjoyed listening to his tidbits and motivation behind the Hobbit house and we were pleased with the generous hospitality. We would absolutely book this place again in a heartbeat (if we can ever find an opening!) - it is a great escape and a must-do for anyone, Hobbit fan or not. You will not be disappointed - thank you, Randy and Linda for creating such a magical space!

    Anantha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment I booked until the time we checked out, Randy and Linda were attentive, responsive, and exceptional hosts! I booked this trip as a Christmas gift for my husband, who is a huge hobbit fan, and it exceeded every single one of our expectations. The property and the hobbit house are both equally breathtaking. We took a class with Randy on one of our last days, where my husband built a pipe, and I made a broom, and Randy was so accommodating, patient, and kind. Even if you are not a hobbit fan, the time and care Randy and Linda put into creating a one of a kind adventure is unparalleled; from the personalized invitations and warm welcome upon arriving, to the most delicious homemade seed bread and complimentary wine, to every single thoughtful detail put into the home, to the warm goodbye as we checked out, I cannot say enough about our stay. We cannot wait to come back!

    Melissa2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Randy and Linda have put together an astonishing and wonderful experience! From the moment we opened the mailbox at the Hobbit Hole, we were immersed in Tolkien’s world. The property is gorgeous and the landscaping is stunning. Every nook and cranny had a new treasure to find inside the Hobbit Hole. And we had all the comforts of home! When you visit, do not miss Randy’s workshops! We had the best time learning from him and making things with our own hands. He is the best teacher! We are already planning our next trip to the Hobbit Hole and can not wait!

    Anna2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Randy and Linda have created a fabulous version of a Hobbit abode. From the moment you get out of your car you begin to experience a visit to Hobbiton: the pond out front, the tobacco stick fence, the gravel path flanked by vegetable boxes and bee-hives - even the laundry hanging on the line - build up to opening the door into “a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.” Beautifully built by Randy, Hobbit’s Dream is spotlessly clean, cozy and comfortable. Your hosts have gone to great lengths to provide you a great experience and will be glad to engage with you through crafts classes (Randy is amazingly creative) or let you go your way undisturbed. We have visited Hobbiton in New Zealand and were even more delighted with our experience here in Virginia. We’re already looking at the calendar to find another time for a trip to Middle Earth.

Dad's House is a comfy home that has a cabin-like feel. Tucked away in the Shenandoah valley, our 305 acre property is a quiet, remote, and relaxing area that looks over the blue ridge mountains and hills. As you can see in the pictures the kitchen, living room-dining room area, and the enclosed porch are in an open arrangement. Master and second bedrooms are 20 feet down the hall plus the 2 baths. Downstairs is a clean working basement with an attached double-twin bedroom.
Dad's House is immediately comforting. Our guests say they can breathe here. We believe it's a great place for a single-person to find solitude and inspiration, a couple to find sacred time together, and a family to find memories together that will last.
Dad's House is perfect for just relaxing, hiking, or going to many local sites of interest. The town of Staunton is 20 miles north and 15 minutes East of there is Shenandoah National Park. • A great gathering place for family or quiet respite for couples. Hiking & views were beautiful! Theresa has everything you need for a home away from home. The enclosed breakfast room is relaxing & affords beautiful panorama views through large size windows! Well kept & super clean 🙂

  • Teresa was so thoughtful during our entire stay. What really stood out to me was her asking what time we expected to arrive so she could turn the lights on for us.

    Sharon2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Nestled in a beautiful farm - Dads House awaits. We loved being welcomed by Teresa and all the touches to make us feel at home. The beauty of the morning sunrise is something we will always remember.

    Sharon2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • If you plan to cook, Dad’s house is a haven! You won’t need to pack a crockpot, any special sized pot or pan, or any utensil. Dad’s kitchen has it all! If you plan to hike one of the farm’s trails, take the paper map, and be patient. The one we took along the creek had several challenges, and would be recommended for experienced hikers. It’s possible, though, that we may have accidentally lost the trail. Dad’s house is clean and spacious, with room for everyone. The hosts are responsive, but leave you alone unless you need them.

This house was built over 200 years ago as a dowry for the Mitchel's parents! Both of the girls were teacher at the school just a little ways across the road which neither ever married. My husband and I did most of the renovations to get it updated. It was our starter home and remains to have a very special place in our hearts! We love entertaining and welcoming new people to our area!

  • Delbert is a kind man with a lovely home. We were quickly greeted upon arrival and assisted to our rooms. We had both bedrooms which shared a bathroom, the beds were comfy and the rooms spacious. Nature lovers paradise! Named "The Sanctuary" for the place you can UNPLUG, unwind & find your peace! Perched up high on nearly 60 acres- you are sure to get fresh air & the rest you are searching for! Only 4 miles to Wintergreen, 6 miles to Sherando lake and backs up to the Blue Ridge Parkway there are plenty of things to do OR just relax and enjoy the crickets & stars! With crazy careers, growing kids & constant hustle- everyone needs a hide out like this every now and then!
This cabin was an 1800s cabin in terrible shape. With the help of Elk Mountain log homes, we moved it from another location and rebuilt it in new form BUT used the logs, flooring, even the stone for the fireplace! It is loaded with character, very unique space! The wrap around porch offers amazing views, super private setting for the quiet you desire!
Peace and quiet is key.... only nature, bears, squirrels, deer... Bike, hike, ski, swim, fish, or just relax. Put down the phone and play UNO with your kids. Grill out, make smores, enjoy life!
  • This was my second time staying here and of course it was amazing as the first time. We will definitely be back again. We love everything about this house and I highly recommend this to everyone I tell. Thank you again

    Maria2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Would recommend Charitie's place to anyone who loves the outdoors and open spaces. Along with privacy and quite. Our group of 7 guys wanted to stay …..for a long time.

    Ruth2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I were looking for a peaceful respite with breathtaking views and comfortable accommodations. Charity’s beautiful cabin more than met our expectations. The house is thoughtfully designed with themed and detailed touches. There were games and activities (board games, fusbol, frisbee, bean bag toss, movies) for our kids to be entertained with as well as a fire pit to enjoy s’mores. The host was quick to answer all of my questions before and during our stay. I look forward to coming back!

    Geraldine2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful inside and out! A wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. Highly recommend!

    Ashley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely spot for a get away. Beautiful setting, clean home and well thought out details. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time in Charity's home.

    Wesley2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Charity is a wonderful host and her house is absolutely amazing. Get ready to “unplug” and enjoy the time with your company. The house has a lot to offer for everyone. With 4 teenagers who are used to their gadgets and gaming, no one was bored with the foosball table, card/board games, walking around the property, and just chatting with the adults. There are a lot of movies you can choose from if you want to still watch some TV. Bring snacks and just kick back and relax. My only advice would be to have Charity’s directions on hand (print or screenshot) in case you lose service on the drive to the house, especially if you’re not used to mountain driving. We have a CR-V and it made it up there, even with the snow that came down on our visit, but that’s because my husband is a better driver than me so I’ll probably need a 4WD. My little civic will definitely not make it up there. Anyhooo, book this place. It’s super worth it! Enjoy your stay!

Mountain chalet getaway! This peaceful Shenandoah Valley home provides breathtaking views of the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountain ranges. Only 20min drive into the town of Lexington, VA, and short drive to outstanding local winery and one of the country’s only working grain mills.
Guests have the main level of the chalet, the loft and the basement are closed off with the owners personal belongings. Also, the basement has a long-term renter in it, who is rarely on the premises.
  • Amazing view! Very quiet and peaceful. Great location right off the interstate. Would stay again!

  • Morgan's place is great. The location is gorgeous - perfectly rural, stunning views, peaceful. The chalet itself is well-appointed and has everything you'd need. We had the most relaxing weekend cooking in the well-stocked kitchen and cozying up with board games in front of a roaring fire. Will absolutely be back!

  • This property is gorgeous. The tree outside was in bloom and full of hummingbirds. The view is outstanding and the sunsets just amazing. The property is so warm and welcoming, lots of good coffee, shampoo, conditioner, a fireplace for cozy evenings. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return.

    Sandy2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a place of great beauty! The photos on the site cannot capture all the beauty offered here. The fields and mountains are picturesque with birds singing in every direction and an occasional deer passing through. Any issues we encountered were extremely minor and handled within minutes (not hours). The responsiveness of the host was near-immediate in every case, day or night. She was entirely professional and more than willing to come to our aid regardless of the need. We felt assured we shared the same goal - an enjoyable stay. We got it! If you are looking for a well-kept & highly scenic place to escape to, this is the place to go. It was a very relaxing, comfortable & safe experience.

    Mark2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very special place. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Morgan's modern cabin. I can't even describe the beautiful views of mountains, rolling hills and quaint farmhouses in the distance. All of your troubles seem to melt away while watching the sunrise on the wrap around porch with a coffee, or laying beneath the sky full of stars at night. The home was a perfect size for 4 people, extremely clean and had everything we needed. Morgan was a great host and sent a number of recommendations for dining and hiking around the area. Check-in and check-out could not have been easier. I am sure we will be back very soon.

  • Leah’s space was awesome! We loved the cozy fireplace and how dog friendly it was- but best of all was the views! It was pretty cold when we went so we didn’t spend a ton of time outside, but even sitting on the couch you can look outside and see the countryside and mountains. Our dog enjoyed barking at the cows in the morning and the basket of dog toys she kindly shares. We’d love to go back sometime when it’s a bit warmer and I highly recommend!

    Jessica2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Charming cabin that beautifully mixes old and new. Leah's communication and hospitality were excellent. We stayed over Valentine's Day weekend and she thoughtfully left out champagne flutes. She responded to questions quickly and was generally a pleasure to communicate with. I would happily stay there again. Also, a great place for dogs!

  • We came to Leah's cabin for a weekend get-away from DC and absolutely loved our stay! It way exceeded our expectations. The cabin is so cozy, adorably decorated, and filled with thoughtful touches. You have a fabulous view of countryside and mountains from the porch and during the night you can soak in the stars on the patio. Very close to hiking in Goshen and access to local vineyards. Leah was easy to communicate with and made every effort to make sure we enjoyed our stay (and got there safely when weather was poor). Highly recommend!

    Anisha2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Leah was the perfect host. She made her adorable cabin so inviting with so many holiday touches. Our New Year's stay in the mountains was perfect with a cozy cabin, fire, lots of local hiking trails, gorgeous stars, comfy couches, local vineyard, and best of all, letting our dog enjoy cabin life with us. Leah was very communicative and willing to share local tips. We had nothing more to wish for except to stay longer.

    Shelley2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at Leah’s cabin with my boyfriend and our puppy Dottie. It was a super cozy stay with thoughtful touches and all the amenities we could want. We had a blast visiting nearby Rockbridge Vineyards and Devils Backbone brewery. Very dog friendly and Dottie had so much fun exploring and sitting by the fire! Thank you Leah for a fantastic weekend getaway.

Due to the current global pandemic, reservation procedures have been altered. There must now be 5 days between bookings to allow time for the cabin to the aired, disinfected and cleaned. Our cabins are secluded and not near anyone else. Nestled in the forest with a small stream, privacy and seclusion from reality is yours to have in this custom made tree to cabin gem. Wildflowers, wildlife, hiking trails and trout fishing are waiting for you to explore.
A large wraparound porch and ceiling fans in each room provide air condition by nature.
The mountains, rivers, and wildlife make this place unique and a treasure to visit. Crabtree Falls and the Appalachian Trail are very close. For libations, the wineries and breweries are 10-15 minutes away.
  • Very clean home. Location is beautiful. Cabin is perfect.

  • Our group of 2 adult couples had a lovely stay at the Higher Ground cabin. The cabin is rustic, but comfortable. We enjoyed our evenings in front of a fire and really enjoyed uplugging from our devices for a few days. There is no cell service and no wifi. Beverly was a wonderful hostess and gave us some great tips about local things to do. I highly recommend the hike to Crabtree Falls and a tasting at Bold Rock Cider Barn! If we are ever in the area again, this is where we will stay!

    Calley2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beverly & her cabin were great. The cabin is secluded, but still right up the hill from her home in case you need anything (because you aren’t calling or texting anyone- there is NO service). We had everything we needed inside the cabin. It was a beautiful place. I would recommend, & want to return in the fall!

  • A great place to stay. Close to Wintergreen Resort. Beautiful mountain home. Beverly welcomed us and gave us a few pointers. Will stay again.

  • This was a perfect getaway for some quiet time close to vineyards, breweries, and nice hikes!! We also got very lucky with sunny, warm weather in December. A great place to make breakfast, pack up the dog for a day of hiking and going to many of the dog friendly vineyards and breweries, and coming back to build a fire and play an endless game of cards. It’s a nice cabin with all the basics you need for a simple weekend. We loved that there was no WiFi, tv, or cell service to unplug and focus on spending time together.

    Tracey2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to get away. Beverly was so nice and helpful! We were even able to cook Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen. The best part was the goat who showed up in our back yard! Would love to come back in the summer.

  • Had such a wonderful time in this beautiful home, it was more than I expected and Brendan was there to tend to our needs with fast responses. I can’t wait to come back!

  • This is the perfect place to come together with loved ones and spend time together in a beautiful settings in a great home. Brendan made sure everything was perfect. We will be back!

    Leigh2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent little hidden gem near everything fun along 81 and the Blueridge Parkway! Very cute older farmhouse on lovely grounds. Thoughtful touches and the best part is it is dog-friendly so we were able to bring the pup on our hikes!

    James2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Brendan's home was charming, adorable, and cozy! Being fur parents, it was great that we were able to bring our dogs along. We loved the spacious back yard and picturesque scenery. Brendan was very helpful, and easy to communicate with. Look forward to future stays!

  • Bucolic setting, wish we could have stayed longer but we had a seminar in Lexington to attend. Very responsive host.

    Bob2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming cottage tucked away in the country. A great place to unplug and unwind and get outside to explore. Yet, it is less than 30 minutes to Lexington or Staunton for restaurants and grocery stores. The beds are comfortable and Brendan is a gracious host. Wifi and Netflix are accessible if needed, but the treasure is the escape from the day to day grind and embracing the great outdoors. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting down by the creek around the fire pit, just visiting and listening to the nearby cows grazing. I highly recommend you stay at Far Country!

    Abigail2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was my boyfriend’s & my second stay at Brendan’s place and we are already ready to go back! It’s a perfect long weekend getaway, especially because we live in a busy city and don’t get much peace and quiet. The house is cute and cozy and I love how there is personality in each detail throughout. It’s the perfect mix of modern and rustic — love the Edison bulbs! He had also just installed brand new kitchen appliances which worked great. The property is lush and tranquil; highly recommend lounging in the hammock, reading a book, while listening to the trickling of the creek. We made a fire outside at night and I’m pretty sure I could see every single star in the sky — something you never get to see in the city! Our dog also had a blast romping around the property :) I don’t think you will find a more communicative, friendly, and reasonable host than Brendan. We felt like we had everything we needed and we appreciated how flexible he was about checking in a little early. We adore this place & can’t wait to return!

    Grace2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved loved Brendan's place. It was such a great getaway and we enjoyed the house and especially the outdoor space. We loved walking through the grassy areas and along the creek behind the house. We started a fire in the firepit and had the best grilled steaks. The kitchen had everything we needed. Lastly, the outdoor shower was fun and refreshing to use. Kind of nice to shower and look up at the sky. We hope to stay at his place again.

750 sq. ft. with 1 bedrm & 1 sleeping loft on isolated road .7 mile from Blue Ridge Parkway. Four miles from Wintergreen Resort entrance (a few more miles if Parkway closed due to ice.) We unplug here as there is no cell service or television. Satellite internet. Great hiking, biking near house.
This is our 6 year-old vacation cottage. It is on 5 acres just outside the George Washington National Forest near the Blue Ridge Parkway on an isolated gravel-dirt road. The cottage has high ceilings and is sun-filled and spacious for 4-5 people. The bathroom has a bath/shower combination. There is one full bed and one twin bed in the open sleeping loft and one full bed in the bedroom. A 5th person could sleep on the pull-out loveseat. Extra sheets and towels are available in the drawers under both sides of the bed (downstairs) or in the dresser in the loft. Extra pillows and blankets are across from the washer/dryer. There are huge windows in the downstairs bedroom so if you are light-sensitive, you may want to bring a sleeping mask.
There are a couple of other cottages nearby, but only a few full-time residents in Chicken Hollow. A walk through our woods will reveal a tree house, swings, hammock, picnic table, swinging chairs and a lovely creek near the bottom edge of the property. Guests are welcome to use these at their own risk. The cottage is only 4 mountainous miles from the entrance to Wintergreen Resort's seasonal skiing and golfing (another 3 miles up the mountain to get to activities). It is about 4 miles from beautiful Sherando Lake where we often swim and hike. There is a nearby wilderness area in the Jefferson National Forest, the Appalachian Trail, and plenty of places to hike, road bike and mountain bike. Nelson county is becoming well known for its micro-breweries, wineries and even a cidery. These are about ten miles away.
  • Such a beautiful place the location was perfect and convenient to wintergreen. It was nice to disconnect for a few days.

    Aaron2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's cottage is the perfect mountain getaway! It is right off of the Blue Ridge Parkway and close to both Route 151 and multiple hikes. There is no shortage of things to do both on and off the property. Very nice place!

    Emily2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was absolutely perfect. The proximity to Wintergreen is great and I was able to take a beautiful hike while the guys were off snowboarding.

    Summer2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, quiet spot with plenty to do right on the property - we loved the treehouse, swings, and trails. We enjoyed many cozy fires and found absolutely everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay. Our kids were thrilled to discover the bin full of Legos, the board games, and lots of kid-friendly books. Check-in and -out were super simple, and the house manual was very comprehensive. It was GREAT to be totally “unplugged” from WiFi and cell service! Can’t wait to stay again!

    Lisa2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to connect with nature.

  • Great place exactly as described. Perfect get away!

    Marie2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a nice place with something that everyone will love. Our kids loved the swing and swerfer and playing the creek. We actually loved the treehouse for reading. And we all loved coming in and warming up by the wood stove.

    Kyle2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect. The directions were easy to follow, the space is adorable (even better in person) and the location was exactly what we were looking for. The cabin had everything we needed and was very clean. It's located near great wineries, breweries, and hiking but the cabin itself is private. Can't wait to visit again!

  • Our weekend at Rock-N-Creek was fabulous - wish we had been able to stay longer! Richard is a genuine and welcoming super-host. And, an incredible chef:) The cabin is very comfortable & is great to come 'home' to after exploring the parkway. What a fantastic place to frequent!

    Sheri2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Richard was a wonderful host and was super responsive with all communication which is always appreciated. Anyone who loves the outdoors and an opportunity to become "unplugged" for a bit would love his place!

    Jerry2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great get away, quiet and serine!

    Evelyn2019-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • We decided to stay in Richard's cabin because it seemed like a unique place to stay while we pursued the Antique Mall in Verona. The mall is so large that it takes days to see everything, and even then, you don't. My husband and daughter and I enjoy antiques and thought it would be a great solution to stay in a rustic cabin over the weekend, which gave us a couple days to shop. The cabin is much larger than the pictures demonstrate, with a ton of beds for many guests. The land is beautiful, even in the dead of winter. We explored the property that includes a creek and several ponds and of course, lots of trees. Richard also has an ABC license and sells some very good wine! A couple things to keep in mind: 1. If you're staying in winter, the cabin is very drafty. It's an older structure that Richard told us was originally a hunting lodge. There wasn't any heat, so he added heating and cooling when he bought the place. Despite the heat that does work, a fire is very necessary to keep the place warm. If you're prone to being cold, bring layers! 2. This is a true getaway - no wifi is available. Our Verizon Hotspot didn't work either. Of course this is not a deterrent, just something to keep remember. Don't expect to be able to check in with the world! 3. This place is a good 30 minutes or more from the nearest town, so if you don't want to go anywhere, come prepared. 4. We've stayed in many Airbnbs, and most hosts have stocked fridges and pantries. This is not the case here. Again, this wasn't a problem, and it is not a bad thing. But keep that in mind when packing. There is coffee available, however. But I didn't see any sugar, though there was a flavored creamer in the fridge. 5. There is only one TV, and it's upstairs, away from the fireplace. So if you enjoy watching TV in the evenings, it makes it is a bit inconvenient to keep the fire going AND watch TV. I cannot iterate enough how wonderful and quiet this place was! Richard is a very gracious host, eager to make sure his guests are happy and comfortable. He's also a people person with great stories! Oh, and the showers have a lot of hot water and really great water pressure! Sometimes, cabins don't really have either of those things, so it was much appreciated!

    Mike2019-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Richard's place was the perfect winter get-away to ring in the new year. The cabin is spacious, well-stocked with essentials, and ideal for unplugging from daily life to spend time with loved ones. Communication was fast and easy, check-in/out were a breeze, and Richard himself was welcoming and kind. Will definitely be back here soon!

    Aras2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • An idyllic retreat with ponds and a babbling brook in front of the house. Probably 10 cars pass per day, so this is a quiet area. Also with no internet and no cell reception, you will enjoy the required relaxation. Climb the nearby waterfalls hike, or tour the Blue Ridge Parkway from this gem. See millions of stars on a clear night. We loved the fireplace and amazing kitchen. Note the add on costs for taxes, extra persons, wood, etc., all reasonable. Third bedroom is accessible only via outside or via the second bedroom downstairs. Richard is an amazing host, very caring, helpful, and friendly. Give it a try!

    George2018-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Richard met us the first morning and told us some stories about the cabin that helped us to appreciate it even more. He was super flexible with the check in and check out. The location is beautiful, perfect for outdoor activities on the Blue Ridge mountains. The cabin was comfortable and peaceful.

Spring is around the corner! Flowers will bloom & rivers are trout stocked. (Fishing license required for stocked waters) It's prime time for hiking to enjoy the forests and wildflowers. Experience the Blue Ridge Mountains in a 1940’s fishing cabin! Guests adore Parr's Camp-it's rustic outside & restored charm inside. A country kitchen, 3 ½ BR & 1½ baths, makes it perfect. A private pond & the Tye River flows steps away for you to enjoy the ever-changing mountain stream.
Unique features include: Deck over pond in the back (old fashioned pond boats), Grill/fire pit/fireplace/cook stove (starter wood provided). Relax on the screened porch w/picnic table, rockers! While fishing in the pond is not an option (it is more of an aquarium to us), we encourage you to fish in the river in front of the house or anywhere on the Tye River. We also love the Montebello fish pond, just a short jaunt up the road. Located on the North Fork of the Tye River, Tyro, Va. (Nelson,County). Accessed by main Va. State paved roads, the road in and our driveway is gravel. Watch for water bars. Closet airports are Lynchburg and Charlottesville (both 55 minute drive).
Local attractions: Brew Ridge Trail: Wineries, Breweries (Devil’s Backbone), Cideries Lockn’ Festival Crabtree Falls Appalachian Trail Blue Ridge Parkway (milepost 27) Orchards Pharsalia Plantation Trout fishing in the Tye River (popular for fishermen) Montebello fishing pond (pay per catch, bring own fishing supplies) Virginia State Fish Hatchery Spy Rock Wintergreen Resort Hike, explore, discover, enjoy nature, seek adventure, and learn history
  • We enjoyed a lovely winter stay. It was warm, cozy, and perfect. It was sparkling clean, and furnished to be comfortable and cozy. No exaggeration that there is no cell service or internet, so come prepared to unplug! But we were never bored, and there were so many things to do in the area that we did not even miss it! Thank you Beverly for your warm hospitality.

  • Great location, beautiful scenary, and adorable cabin. A perfect spot to unplug with all the comforts of home.

    Stephanie2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect. The cabin is warm and inviting and the pond is so clear you can see all the way to the bottom. You will likely catch a glimpse of their school of fish, which our boys really enjoyed. On the other side of the property is the Tye River, which has natural beauty and the relaxing sound of a running creek. The hostess, Beverly, was extremely warm and welcoming, coming over to introduce herself, give us some veggies out of the garden, and give us some advice and direction. The place is truly unique and really provides peace and quiet. There is no cell service and we all, even the kids, enjoyed being “disconnected” a couple days.

    Matthew2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of those special places that reminds us how to travel and spend time with each other. Beverly is an amazing host and made our arrival and stay very special. Highly recommend this place. We will be back. Michael and group

  • This was our second summer staying here, we love it. The location is perfect. Very private and close to lots of hiking and other activities. The pond makes for a great setting that attracts lots of birds including a heron and kingfisher. Also loved hearing all the frogs. I'm sure we will stay there again.

    Marilee2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is everything and more in terms of what we were looking for. The location is simply idyllic, being on a peaceful pond and the sound of the river on the other side of the cabin. We cooked our dinners over the fire pit both nights and slept soundly with the doors and windows open so we could hear the nighttime sounds. Our kids are begging to go back. I hope we can sometime soon.

    Sara2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • An idyllic retreat. The photos and description don’t do it justice. If you sense that digital life and dependency are dulling the edges of your interior mental life, there may be no better antidote than a few days at Parr’s.

  • We only stayed one night but were very happy with the stay. We arrived about 45 minutes early and Keith was happy to accommodate. The room was cozy and quiet. Extremely convenient to Wintergreen Resort and a great alternative to staying there. Wish we could have stayed longer and had time to build a fire in the fire pit.

    Eli2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin was nice and cozy with all the amenities you could need, including a whirlpool tub (especially great if you plan on hiking a lot). We were so close to several great hiking spots including Three Ridges and Sherando lake, both within 5 minutes of the cabin. Great for anyone looking to have a nice weekend getaway in the middle of nature.

    Ashley2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We so enjoyed our time at Cabin #9 this weekend. Keith and Sharon are excellent hosts. They are super friendly and love to help travelers find unique experiences in the area. We will be back! Tammy and Spencer

  • This is a quaint cabin in the perfect location. A short drive to Devils backbone for a beer and dinner by the fire, a wonderful hike to a gorgeous overlook, and the place was the perfect size and space. In the kitchen we were able to cook breakfast and make coffee, curl up next to the fire for a glass of wine, and enjoy a wonderful cozy weekend together. After visiting the cabin, my boyfriend is sold on small space living, stating that no one needs more than the space of the cabin. Check in was easy, even with our unexpected delays with great communication from the host. We will be back again, I highly recommend for a cozy weekend by the fire in the mountains in Love.

  • Wonderful Cabin, great hosting, and amazing locations. 1/4 mile from Crabtree Falls and about 30min to Wintergreen Resort. Love these cute cabins, will be back!

  • Beth Anne's place is just amazing. I was booking her place late for the day while we were on the blue ridge parkway. Beth Anne just responded timely and we had a place to stay. And it is super clean, cozy and nice. At first, we thought the location is kind of far from the blue ridge but you would definitely enjoy the view of little extra miles. The scene is just beautiful and there is a waterfall nearby. Her bedding is just extra comfortable and the view of the cabin is just so pretty. It is nice, quite and a getaway from the city. Highly recommend this place. Five stars!

    Su2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This little cluster of cabins and houses is a wonderful getaway spot. October must be the ideal time to go, because it was gorgeous, peaceful, comfortable, and the drive to get there was great. Jack's Place was perfectly charming and clean, and it was nice not to have to coordinate with anyone on arrival - just to come in and relax. We didn't have cell service once we got there, and the wifi at the lounge didn't reach this cottage (at least on my older iPhone) - but the Lounge has wifi, and coffee and lots of DVD's. Stopped at Tuckahoe Antiques, Veritas winery, Devils Backbone brewery and hiked up to Crabtree Falls - all worth it.

    Kelley2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for 2 nights at Jacks Place. There were 6 of us and as long as the group is close, the size was perfectly fine. We particularly loved the deck and the small touches around the place with local tips and suggestions. There is one private bedroom with the only bathroom in space. As a guest you also have access to the priests lounge which is a 200 meter walk where you can find movies, coffee, WiFi, and an extra bathroom. Note, there is no service/WiFi in the area minus the lounge. You are less than a 10 min walk to the start of Crabtree falls hike (3.4 miles) and not too far from 151 breweries (closer to 30 than 20 mins). We did have trouble finding a grocery store so make sure to pack food in advance. Would recommend for sure. They also seem to have other nice cabins in their section as well as glamping coming in the future!

Bright and fresh country setting with amazing 360 mountain views located in a professional working horse farm. You will be greeted by our friendly pet goat and her donkey friends and mini horse. We are totally pet friendly, the house is surrounded by a fenced in yard, so your canine friend can run and enjoy the country too. Come relax, enjoy unplug and decompress! Wander over to Rockbridge Vineyards right across the road or explore both Lexington or Staunton only minutes away.
With exceptional views and grazing horses all around you, it is easy to just kick back and enjoy the country air. The pretty and comfortable house has an open floor plan, perfect for larger groups to mingle and enjoy each others company. The outside space is amazing. We have a large back porch just off the dining area. Perfect for dining outside in good weather.
The farm is fairly private. We do not have neighbors very close to the house, however if you want to get out and mingle, Rockbridge Vineyards and their many activities are just across the road.
  • Gammon’s place is as described. It’s secluded, but still only about a mile from interstate 81. It’s a 15 minute drive to Lexington, and there were tons of different hiking trails near by. I would recommend her place.

  • Beautiful property. Horses were very friendly and came right up to say hello. Our dog really enjoyed the fenced in yard. The house is great, the photos don’t do it justice. Has everything you would need in the kitchen, including coffee for the morning. Perfect location for blue ridge parkway access, Shenandoah valley wineries, and breweries.

    Jacob2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, short drive to several hiking spots like Crabtree Falls and Jump Rock Mountain. Short drive from Devil's Backbone Brewery and Seven Arrows. Plenty of space with a open floorplan. Huge deck on the back with a hot tub! Great views of the mountains. Would book again.

    Jonathan2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Gammon's place is beautiful. We enjoyed great sunsets and stargazing is amazing. The horses and the pet goat kept the younger ones in our party entertained, the hot tub was great after coming back from skiing, the kitchen was stocked well enough to prepare dinner, instructions were very clear on how to operate appliances and other amenities, and everything was very clean. Keep in mind that this is the country, so wifi/cell signal may be unreliable, but there is enough nature around to keep you happily disconnected. Blue ridge mountain parkway is very close to the farm, so sightseeing and hiking, are easily reached. We went to Wintergreen for skiing, which is about 50 minutes away by car. I would definitely recommend Gammon's place for a calm and relaxing stay with the comfort of great amenities and a really clean place.

    Fernanda2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful trip! Great hosts and friendly animals! Great space, plenty of room. 360° views of mountains and horses. The fenced in area allowed our dogs to run around without being in danger. And all the animals were so friendly!

    Whitney2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Gammon’s place is a one of a kind experience. Just on the amenities the location is priceless. You get to see and pet the horses, get greeted by their friendly goat and walk around with miniature horse. I can write for hours the amazing experience our kids and family had as they spent day and night enjoying and appreciating the animals. As if this was not enough, the location gives you breathtaking views. You can see the beautiful mountains while enjoying a great cup of coffee without any sound. The house was very cleaned and had everything we needed for the stay and for groceries there is a Walmart only 15 minutes away. We also did the Virginia Safari which we highly recommend and is about a 25 minute drive from the house. Overall a great experience, great location and something our kids will never forget.

    Joe2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • This house was great! Close to Natural Bridge, Lexington, and more! It was perfect for our dog to run around in the huge fenced in yard. Our kids loved the hot tub and the friendly animals. They didn’t want to leave! They are still talking about their new friend Allie (the goat on the property). The house was very clean and had everything we needed to cook. It is also right down the street from Rockbridge Winery.

    Chelsea2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views, beautiful pastures with grazing horses, views of the mountains, quiet and restful, very comfortable house and furnishings.

  • Beth Anne’s place is a wonderful hideaway away from the hustle and bustle of the world. “Tony’s place” was very clean and comfortable. There are stairs to get into the apartment as well as stairs to get up to the bedroom. So make sure you have strong legs. Beth-Anne was a very gracious hostess and helped us get the heat going. There is WiFi available as well.

    Christina2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beth-Anne is as an exceptional host! Recommendations made ahead of time. Very responsive during our stay. We look forward to another stay!

    Michelle2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Tony’s place. Everything is clean and cozy. The host is very responsive and helpful and left helpful guides on local activities.

    Jessica2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • So close to the waterfalls, cabin was great, Beth Anne was an awesome host. Looking foward to returning.

  • Excellent cabin.

    Kris2019-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beth-Anne and her husband were wonderful hosts! They communicated very well, were quick to respond and very welcoming. Their place was very cozy and cute! It had a nice outdoor fire pit area if you wanted to make a campfire! It was nice to be secluded but only a short drive to restaurants/breweries! I had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it!

    Ashley2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Tony’s Place was great! The townhouse is actually huge & the lounge being just downstairs was super convenient! It was nice to be away from everything, but still be close enough have the opportunity to do fun stuff. We hiked Crabtree Falls & the Appalachian Trail with our dogs, explored the local breweries, distilleries, cideries, and went tubing at Wintergreen. All of those adventures are within 40mins of the cabins. Beth-Anne was away during part of our stay, but was still able to be reached & respond to any issues that we had rather quickly, which we appreciated. She also has a super cute puppy! Warning: there is absolutely no cell service on the mountain, but Tony’s has WiFi (!!!!!). We stopped and got groceries on the way, which wasn’t such a hassle, like I thought it would be. I would also recommend getting to the cabins during the daylight. Driving up the mountain in the dark can be terrifying (which we learned).

  • Well this was our second time staying in LOVE and we loved it so much the first time we came back to get married! Keith was wonderful and even officiated our ceremony. The grounds were beautiful as always and provided the best backdrop for our ceremony and pictures. We stayed in the same cabin and enjoyed our cozy space once again. LOVE is now a permanent part of our family and we will be coming back for many years!

  • What an amazing little cabin! It's so close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Wintergreen area with amazing fireworks. Keith was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and gave us advice on great hikes nearby as well as where to find fireworks for the 4th of July. We also loved the Jacuzzi bath to relax after a long day of hiking.

  • What a relaxing retreat! The farm is clean and comfortable , and Deanie answered every question or concern in record time. She gave us great recommendations for places to eat as well as greeting us in person (and we arrived at 8 pm), brought us firewood (we roasted marshmellows both nights), and answering our questions for the best hikes. We fished one night (caught bass and sunfish in record time), and started each day with a delicious hearty breakfast. We shared our s'mores with another couple that we met while there - the entire stay felt like a home away from home. The vibe is friendly and fun. We will be back!

    Jan2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful area to explore and when you are done, rest here at this quiet and peaceful farm. Deanie will serve you a great breakfast to start your day.

    Jeffrey2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • At Penmerryl Farm you will receive exceptional hospitality! Even though our arrival was after 8PM, Deanie greeted us with her warm and friendly smile and showed us to our comfortable and clean room. In the morning she made all the guests feel like family as she engaged us in conversation and offered a scrumptious breakfast. If you want to have a taste of pastoral farm life surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Deanie's is the place to stay! We look forward to a future visit now that we know about this special spot.

    Marianne2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • As much as I enjoyed my time with Hank the horse and Finnegan the donkey, it was time chatting with Mr. Ken that made me feel the most comfortable and welcomed. Top notch hospitality abounds and I am looking forward to another Virginia visit.

    Jill2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! It's the perfect place to bring your dog and easy access to a ton of great hikes. Amazing breakfast too!

    Kyle2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant one-night stay at Penmerryl Farm, as we began our weekend of hiking. The property is lovely with beautiful views on the drive in. Our room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The pool and fire pit looked very inviting, but we did not have time to enjoy them this visit. Breakfast included Peach French Toast and other yummy treats. Thanks to Deanie for a lovely time.

    Tammy2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is our third visit to Penmerryl in as many years, and it, and they continue to not only meet our expectations, but exceed them. We love these people. We love the horses and donkeys and goats and the absolute freedom to enjoy this wonderful piece of heaven. It is a perfect break from our first day out from Fla. to Maine. After a long day of driving, nothing refreshes like a walk in the woods, connection with our furry four-legged friends, and a lovely outdoor gazebo by the pool to relax and enjoy our supper. It heals our souls. And our traveling companion Boykin Spaniel gives it all an enthusiastic 5 paws up!!! She fell in love with Fennigan. Oh, and I cannot forget to once again mention the breakfast. So lovely, so yummy, perfect recharge for the next leg of our journey . We feel so very lucky to have discovered this gem.

  • Awesome cabin, perfect for a quiet getaway! Beautiful property right next to a creek (great for little ones to throw rocks in 😊) and Kendra was super responsive and accommodating. It was so nice to disconnect from the electronics and reconnect with family! Can't wait to visit again!

    Becky2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Bear Necessities was an ideal spot for our group trip. We spent a lot of time outside by the creek, cooking over the fire pit. The bbq from JJ’s was another great touch! Everything was clean and plenty comfortable for our group of 7. Would love to come back.

  • 2nd time staying at this amazing Airbnb. Between the land which back right up to the national forest, the creek, the stars, fire pits, and the amazing cabin we hope to be back again. Thank you again Kendra! Y’all and your place was great.

  • Bare-Necessities is a great place to unwind and enjoy family time. Be sure to take Kendra up on having food delivered from her restaurant ... everything for our Thanksgiving dinner was absolutely amazing. The home was immaculate and extremely cozy and comfortable. We will definitely be back and have already told friends and family to book!

  • We absolutely loved our time at Bear Necessities, and we can’t wait to go back. It is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway with some beautiful overlooks and close to some great hikes. We took advantage of having barbecue and mac and cheese delivered, which was awesome! The cabin was the perfect size for our family of five...oh, and the mattress in the master bedroom was the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. Kendra is very quick to respond to questions. Great stay!! Thanks so much!

  • For a cozy, comfy weekend in the woods, you just can’t do any better than Bear Necessities. The location is great, remote and quiet but close to hikes and shops. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and accessories and there were plenty of beds and living space for our party of 6. The big fire pit down by the creek was a phenomenal hangout spot. Exceeded my expectations and then some!

  • Good location for hiking, decent accommodations. It smelled a little moldy, but not too bad. Keith and family are very helpful. Wifi barely worked, I think it was satellite, and they have a note about only using for basic communications. That didn't bother me, as I was looking to get away.

  • Keith is such an excellent host and his cabins are all you can ask for in the mountains! • Wonderful mountain get-away. Store has items made by local Native-Americans, reasonably priced. Beads in jewelry isn’t plastic. Near Appalachian Trail, and other hiking/nature sites. Use common sense, especially after dark, this does border national forest, and the critters from forest. You might get fury visitors, so follow instructions about food and trash. I came and went to work, day and night, no issues.

    Natalie2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • From the time I reserved until we arrived, Keith was in constant contact and answered any questions that I had almost immediately. When we arrived, we were greeted by Keith at the store where he took out the time to tell us about the cabin and the local attractions. At the store you can also rent out free DVDS and purchase drinks, ice , small necessities and snacks. The cabin which we stayed in (#3) is connected to another cabin, but you have complete privacy. You have your own charcoal grill and parking space as well. Inside you are taken back in time, as it is small and quaint. You do not have any cable, limited cell service and limited WiFi. There is a jucuzzi, wood burning fireplace and a small kitchen. The refrigerator was small but goes far back/deep, so you’re able to fit a lot of food in there. We actually packed a cooler full of Thanksgiving food and was able to fit all of it in there. The freezer has two ice trays, but I would advise to bring a cooler of ice. The kitchen has a two burner stove, but only one got hot and a microwave, no stove. It also has glasses, plates, utensils and a George Foreman grill ( we brought our own) but it was nice to know they had one as well. If you are looking to escape the city life and want to focus on the beauty of the mountains, come here! Keith and his wife treated myself and my boyfriend with hospitality and respect, which is hard to find nowadays. If you want to visit the wineries and breweries and then come back to peace and quiet without a lot of people around, this is definitely the place to go!

  • Old fashioned and charming, exactly what you need in this environment. It was nice to unplug, listen to the crackling of real fire, explore the mountains and local vineyards. Keith was a wonderful host, taking the time to go over the area and answer questions. As my first experience with Airbnb, I couldn't be more pleased. There will definitely be future visits.

  • Spa tub in the living room was quirky and absolutely awesome. The area was and is perfect for a quiet get away from everything. Super relaxing and peaceful. Will 100% be staying here again.

  • Our stay in Cabin #4 at Royal Oaks Resort was wonderful! The Jacuzzi and fireplace were a big perk with the cold weather, and we enjoyed hiking Crabtree Falls closeby. Keith was also very responsive and helpful for pointing out local spots when we stopped by the Old Country Store.

  • Keith is a great host - and cabin 4 was just perfect for our weekend getaway. You could not hear or see anything at night except for the rustling leaves and stars in the sky. Would definitely go back.

  • The cabin was fantastic! I lived the whirlpool tub after a long day of hiking and a fireplace to keep me warm and cozy afterwards. It’s a really great place to go and get away from it all - and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and lots of hiking options!

  • Great retreat cabin with so many things to do around, the cabin itself was very homey and Keith is a great host.

  • After our first plan for camping fell through, we stumble upon this sweet little cabin. We are so glad we did! What a gem, the cabin was very clean, provided everything we could need, pet friendly, and is located in such a beautiful quiet area right off of the blue ridge parkway. Great for a weekend to get away and relax. We can’t wait to book our next trip to cabin #4❤️
