  • If you're looking for an authentic, welcoming place to stay with incredible rustic charm, The Mill is where you want to stay. John and his wife could not have been more gracious hosts and went out of their way to make us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The bedroom was warm and cozy and had great ambience from the rushing creek outside. We enjoyed walking around the nearby trails and took several enjoyable day trips to nearby towns and villages, all less than an hour away. If you want to unwind and experience VT as a local for a few days, I would highly recommend The Mill at Lewis Creek.

  • Words can't express how breathtakingly beautiful this location was, how kind and hospitable John and Manjula were, and how simply amazing this experience was. The place was described perfectly; the pictures don't do it justice. John was warm and welcoming, full of stories and laughter, cooked a mean breakfast, and made us feel like we were part of his home. We got to explore what we could and watch amazing shooting stars from the deck (despite the cold) and with awesome recommendations from John, had awesome food and beautiful hikes that we probably wouldn't have found without him. Thank you for everything, John and Manjula! We plan on coming back during all seasons! ❤️

  • Manjula and John were incredible hosts to us. This was the perfect place for our 3 night fall trip to Vermont. It's remote enough to feel like you have your cozy place in the woods but close enough to Burlington, great hikes and restaurants. The place is beautifully decorated and has a great vibe to it all around. John made us an incredible breakfast each morning and made us feel at home the entire time. He gave us great hiking recommendations. The grounds are beautiful. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

  • Actually I’d like to keep this place just for myself. Since I can’t return every week, make certain you reserve this Vermont experience of history, graciousness, generosity, value and pure unmatched hospitality on your next trip to Vermont. We didn’t knowJohn and Manjula on our first trip last year to the Historic Mill on the spectacular River Gorge. This year we returned to our family. And we will every year once again. This is more than an unforgettable place to stay. It’s home.

    Tom2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • John and Manjula are warm kind and gentle people that we are lucky to have met and who we consider friends. Their home is a very special place as well that has been taken care of by passionate and dedicated owners. My wife and I love it here and we highly recommend it to anyone!

    Drew2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • John and Manjula have created a one of a kind experience in their lovely home. The sounds of the rushing river will lull you to sleep (the comfortable warm cozy bed is awesome too). The outside shower is the BEST shower I've had in 63 years. The homemade breakfast tastes as good as it smells. Their home is MORE than a place to stay- it is a total experience for all the senses. We hope to return when we visit Vermont in the future. You NEED to experience this historic bed and breakfast.

    Shannon2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing experience. It was rustic and unique and absolutely fabulous. Such a romantic spot to stay and be welcomed as family. John went out of his way to send us off to see the sights, and enjoy what the area offers. We were there leaf peeping and his advice was spot on. We have fantastic memories and photos of our trip. The hospitality is so welcoming. From breakfast in the great room (the pancakes are fabulous) to winding down in the evening in front of the fire. I can not say enough about this fabulous place and wonderful people. I would definitely do it again!

Private studio apartment in woodland setting with cozy patio located on a dead end dirt road. Steps away from the 836 acre Hinesburg Town Forest, boasting some of the best mountain biking, snowshoeing and hiking trails in the area. Close to many downhill, backcountry and cross country ski areas, including Bolton Valley, Sleepy Hollow, Camel’s Hump, Mad River Glen and Sugarbush. A short 30 minute drive to Burlington for great shopping or a night on the town. Also a wonderful place to just chill.
This is a non-smoking property. We know what we value when we travel away from home and kept that in mind while creating this space. It was our goal to make it inviting and welcoming and we hope you enjoy it. This studio space is accessed by a private entrance. It has “green” cork flooring for comfort and a fully tiled bathroom, with a walk-in shower. The kitchen is simple but has all the equipment you need to make a yummy meal if you just want to stay in and relax with a movie on Netflix or Amazon. Sleep is very important and we are sticklers for good bedding. You won’t be disappointed with all cotton sheets, down pillows and comforters. The main bed has an organic latex mattress and the couch turns into a comfortable queen size bed, key word “comfortable”. This is not your parents fold out mattress. Non-down bedding is available for those who need alternatives. Our outdoor space will be evolving to enhance the now private covered patio adjacent to the entrance. Currently, there are Adirondack chairs to hang out on while enjoying a hot beverage or evening libations. Relax here and take in the star filled sky and listen to the owl calls. If you're lucky one of our resident owls could be seen staring at you from a high branch. No guarantees, but it is something we have experienced.
Our space is in a rural setting at the end of a dead-end dirt road atop a small mountain/hill. There are no street lights and it is quiet and peaceful. We usually hear owls at night and star-gazing is exceptional. In the summer we have a vegetable garden that we welcome guests to share in the bounty. Access to the Hinesburg Town Forest is steps away and a recreational resource beyond compare. This is a non-smoking property.
  • We had a great time. Such a cute apartment!

    Saskia2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a cute place for my boyfriend I to stay for the weekend, Burlington was close and the drive to Stowe was about 45 mins away. Zoe and mark were easy to communicate with, the bed was very comfy and the walk in shower was amazing!!! It was a little bit chilly in the apartment and I’m not sure if the thermostat is controllable downstairs or not but other than that I would 100% stay here again!!

  • Super clean and decorated with good taste. ideal for a couple or someone looking for some rest, time to read, etc. You will need a 4x4 to climb the hill if its a snowy day. And you get a cookies as a welcome treat.

    Edson2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Super cool and stylish space attached to a house that has the sam qualities! Very comfortable, great hosts (the have a cute dog!) and the photos really don’t do it justice!

    Will2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect an adorable small but complete guest house for your stay here. It is in a great location to easily visit ski resorts, restaurants, local activities, or just to stroll in the quiet outdoors. Everything was clean and there were many thoughtful touches included. The hosts are welcoming and offer support if needed, but also were respectful and private. My boyfriend & I came here for a quick snowboarding trip on college break and felt so fortunate to stumble upon a great deal at such a quaint place. You won’t be disappointed!

    Jackie2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a well designed space, our family of 4 had a great time there for a long weekend. Mark + Zoe were great hosts and made sure we had whatever we needed. We have family in the area and will definitely stay here again when we go visit.

    Nathan2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Zoe and Mark are truly “super” hosts. Zoe left note cards for us that she made and treated us to local chocolates for our anniversary. She couldn’t be more sweet. We loved the place and will most certainly continue to make it an annual getaway. Thanks so much for sharing your home! Derek & Ashley

  • Peter's place was gorgeous. The space feel open and grand, while still being extremely warm and cozy. Details are well thought out, so that we were able to arrive and immediately settle in. The location is amazing, beautiful countryside with country walks. Communication was seamless, helpful and friendly. Peter recommended a local event at a maple sugar house that was a highlight of our trip. Definitely would recommend.

  • Very cool space, sparkling clean and well designed. What more can you ask for? Would stay there again

    Christian2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • WOW! This beautiful space in Hinesburg exceeded my already very-high expectations. Pete is a great communicator, and the barn was sparkling clean, comfortable and just all-around lovely. I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a place that is well-located to great breweries, Burlington and Stowe - while also being private and quiet.

    Vaughan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place welcomed us as a safe haven at the end of a rather exhausting ride. The place is very cozy, and full of thoughtful touches and amenities. Peter was very helpful with a comprehensive email including the nearby attractions. Very satisfied, would stay again.

    Candost2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Peter’s space was so beautiful and clean! The apartment is very aesthetically pleasing and provided a very cozy atmosphere. Peter was very pleasant to communicate with and he sent a detailed email with directions, check-in information, apartment details, and local recommendations prior to our stay. Anyone interested in cooking- please note that this apartment does not have a kitchen, but has a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, and keurig. I would highly recommend this apartment and Peter as a host!

    Brittany2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really nice place with thoughtful details. Peter was welcoming and helpful.

    Dilaver2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful quaint apartment with thoughtful touches throughout. Loved that there was no TV, a break from the norm. A selection of awesome CD’s in my opinion was available, which we enjoyed. Location is great and easy to get to. Peter is a wonderful host and was always respectful and responsive when needed. I’d definitely recommend to others looking to getaway!

Open, spacious 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen, close to great hiking, skiing and biking. Mad River Glen, Sugarbush, Waitsfield and Bristol are all within a ten to fifteen mile drive. Hiking on the Long Trail or Camels Hump? Trailheads are within 10 miles or walk out your door to bike the gap. Burlington is 25 miles away. Family friendly property with plenty of yard for everyone to enjoy! More than 4 guests? Private bed-bathroom also available on same property- contact host for information
While we call it an "apartment", it's not your typical apartment. There's something magical about the space. It could be the charming cupola, gleaming wood floors, high ceilings or the open and light feeling you get when you walk in the door. The space is in it's own building with no other living space, so you'll have complete privacy. While there is no cell phone coverage at the location, you can still stay connected through Wi-Fi or use the time as an opportunity to go unplugged (isn't that what getaways are for!)
Conveniently located near Route 17, you'll have quick and easy access for when you are traveling. There is occasional road noise during motorcycle season as it's a popular route to ride over the Appalachian Gap. If you are traveling from the Waitsfield-Warren-Fayston area on Route 17 W the road going over the mountain is a bit twisty and as with all Vermont roads, winter tires are recommended. You never know when the weather is going to change on the mountain!
  • Had another great time at Julie and Bill's! On point as always :)

    Clint2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at Julie and Bill's for a short ski vacation. The space is beautiful, in a gorgeous location, with everything we needed and more. We loved the large, bright living space and cozy bedrooms. Clean as can be, check-in was a breeze, and communications were swift and helpful. Clear instructions, with lots of local information and suggestions for exploring. Our stay could not have been better, and we hope we're able to return.

Our 1810 farmhouse is beautifully situated in a picturesque Vermont valley, with long views of the Green Mountains. Surrounded by hundreds of acres of fields and woodlands, the house is completely solar powered (you are welcome to charge your electric car if you have one). Wide paths into the woodlands are just beyond the barn. The house is about 20 miles from Mad River Glen, Burlington, and Middlebury and close to Bristol and Hinesburg.
Sit and relax on the back porch, in the yard, or laze in the hammock surrounded by fields and mountains. Sometimes the neighbor's cows will be grazing in the pasture next door. Close to great skiing and hiking in the Green Mountains, the three-bedroom house is full of light, fully furnished, with a fully equipped kitchen, library, three baths, WiFi, flat-screen TV with Apple TV, and fresh linens. Two queen-size beds and a queen futon sleep up to six. Love privacy? The house is on a dirt road, and your nearest neighbors will be donkeys, cows, and our nice neighbors who tend them. Depending on the season, bluebirds, swallows, orioles, phoebes and flycatchers will visit. White-tailed deer, wild turkeys, ravens, and the occasional moose, hawk, bald eagle, or bear are sometimes seen across the fields.
Peaceful, quiet, owls calling, fantastic night sky, spring peepers, fireflies in summer. Cows sometimes grazing in the fields around the house from spring to fall.
  • Laura's place is warm and charming and Laura is a very responsive hostess. We went there with 2 other couples and it was adequately spacious and private. We enjoyed the surrounding area for x country skiing and the short drive to great hikes.

    Sylvie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Laura's farmhouse is wonderful! It was clean and nicely decorated and my favorite was the sunlight pouring through all the windows. Laura took a lot of time to give us thoughtful and detailed suggestions for restaurants, cafes, and activities to do with our 2 kids. She was quick to respond and very helpful. If we ever end of in that area we would definitely go back to Laura's place!!

    Julia2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful historic farmhouse is full of character and well located for winter activities. We had President's weekend skiing at Mad River Glen and Sugarbush, hiking and sledding at Mt. Philo, skating in Waitsfield and great food/drink in Bristol and Vergennes. Laura's recommendations for things to do and places to go were very comprehensive and she was super helpful for any questions we had before or during the trip, really making us feel welcome and at home. The house is bigger than we imagined from photos yet still warm and cosy and great to come home to. You could spend a long time exploring the library before sleeping in the comfy beds. Everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen had all we needed to cook a few meals. Plenty of room outside for kids to play, build snowforts and have fun. Quiet location but easily accessible on a well maintained road. A perfect family winter break!

    Feilim2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely vacation spot!

    Lisa2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Laura’s place is perfect if you’re looking for a spacious and quiet place in the country. We really enjoyed the fireplace in the evening and going on short winter hikes in the area. The place is well equipped in terms of basic cooking ingredients and cookware which was very helpful for us.

    Audrey2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Laura is a great host and this place was amazing. We went for a ski trip, and it was only 30 minutes to the closest mountain and 30 minutes to Burlington. Great location, great everything else too! The house is very spacious and so aesthetically pleasing. So peaceful here!! Laura is also a great communicator and has quick responses in case we needed anything. Would love to come back!

    Marina2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Laura's farmhouse was a warm, welcoming place for us to spend the Christmas holiday and celebrate two birthdays. The house is even more charming and well-appointed than the listing reveals -- it feels like a real home, not a rental house. It is surprisingly spacious, yet still feels cozy, it was extremely clean and has absolutely everything you could need! The kitchen is perfectly equipped (we whipped up a festive Christmas dinner, a cake, and gingerbread cookies all at the same time -- and didn't feel like the four of us were standing on top of each other!) Coffee, teas, and basic cooking needs (salts, oils, vinegars, butter, maple syrup) made it easy to put meals together. The surrounding area is idyllic, it feels very remote, yet it's a short drive to Monkton for provisions. There's plenty of space to take some beautiful walks outside the house, while only a short (10 minute) drive to mountain hikes. Laura is a phenomenal host (the best I've ever encountered on Airbnb!) She had excellent suggestions for dining and outdoor activities in the area and was all-around amazing at prompt and thorough communication from before booking to the last day of our stay. I'm definitely going to be recommending this place to all my friends and family who are looking for a quiet and relaxing place in Vermont!

    Elisabeth2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a wonderfully restful time in this beautiful Vermont Farmhouse. Laura was incredibly helpful and thoughtful! I hope to get to stay here again soon!

    Austin2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a place to stay near Bristol, then look no more. Joanne and Greg’s place exceeded our expectations. Other reviewers have written this, but it is absolutely true- The place is so wonderfully picturesque and perfect, the photos do not do it justice. The property has amazing panoramic views of the mountains and the grounds are so beautiful that you will hate leaving the property. The guest suite is cozy and warm and the bed was super comfortable. Joanne and Gary were super hosts who have painstakingly thought of every last detail to make your stay amazing. Thanks for letting us hang out at the fire pit! This was by far our favorite Airbnb stay!

    Leon2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Joanne and Greg's home is inviting and even more magical than the pictures and reviews suggest. We stayed for a long weekend and were able to relax in nature at this gorgeous home base, while still being just a short car ride from Burlington and other small towns to explore. If you're looking for a relaxing and lovely stay in a central location that's just far enough off the 'beaten path, then look no further! Would definitely stay here again if we're back in the area (which we plan to be)!

    Nina2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • I knew immediately upon seeing this property's listing, that we would enjoy staying here, but it wasn't until we arrived that i knew just how much. Joanne greeted us upon arrival and we immediately felt like we had known her all our lives...she has such a warm and friendly. Upon entering the guesthouse, it was clear that she had thought of every detail to make you feel like you were staying in a luxurious, five star hotel with the warmth of a bed and breakfast. We looked forward to coming "home" to it in the evenings and couldn't wait to enjoy the breathtaking views in the morning while sipping our coffee and lounging on the sofa. You should not pass up an opportunity to stay here.

  • We are in love with this little oasis in the woods! This place is special, don’t miss out on it. We stayed for three nights to attend a local wedding and it was everything we hoped it would be. The property is beyond beautiful, the loft is super cozy and the hosts are wonderful. I wish we had a reason to visit every year and experience all the seasons. I know we will be back at some point! The location is serene and helps you instantly relax. The proximity to Burlington, Lake Champlain and Sugarbush is perfect if you are looking for more activities. I highly recommend to anyone coming to the area!

Our cozy cabin in the woods of the Green Mountains is waiting for you! Located on a dead end, dirt road, on the side of a mountain, the house provides silence and privacy. The house features a hot tub for the right finale after an adventurous day. Iconic VT landmarks such as the Camel's Hump, Bristol Falls, and the Huntington Gorge can be found in the home's close proximity, inviting for swimming, hiking and biking. Also has a beautiful kitchen to cook in!
The house is a very unique, special place! It has just undergone another renovation, newly vaulted living room ceiling, with pine tongue & groove in the living room and fireplace den. New huge sectional, and a leather in front of the fireplace. All new touch-pad remote lighting, new bathroom, and all new paint. The kitchen was remodeled a few years ago with hickory cabinets, butcher block counter tops, and cherry trim. The rest was built in 6 sections, continually being added onto over the years. It has Cherry hardwood floors throughout the house, and natural slate in the kitchen,. The deck is huge! Its around 25' long and tapered to match the hill side, looking up at the fire-pit. The yard is .5 acres, with plenty of room to play with the dogs or have a picnic. The yard is now fully fenced in for the woofs, with a nice driveway gate.
Its very remote, yet close enough to town. Its located on a dead end dirt road. The neighbors are all classic Vermonters, and great people. -There is a huge fence for privacy
  • This is the perfect spot for a quiet escape in rural Vermont. The bedrooms are super comfy, the kitchen is great for creating shared meals, and the hot tub is an amazing oasis. Special bonus: relaxing by the wood stove.

  • Inside of the Cabin has been renovated very nicely with attention to detail. Hot tub is an excellent way to relax and was enjoyed many times throughout the stay.

  • My fiance and I stayed here with our dog, Merlin. We had a great time and absolutely loved the place. It was such a fantastic spot for a secluded winter getaway. I would definitely love to do this again. My only downside was only mother nature's fault. A huge storm was due to come in on the day were meant to leave. We made the decision because of that to leave a day early so we didn't have to complete the long drive in a storm. Wish we didn't have to cut our trip short but other than that I would definitely recommend this place.

    Kathryn2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a lovely stay in Rob's home. The location is beautiful and quiet, but close to Burlington. We loved the hot tub and the wood-fired stove! Wonderfully cozy in the winter.

    Alexandra2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Cute place and everything was as expected. Bolton Valley is the closest ski mountain (35-40 min)

  • This was our second stay with our dogs at the cabin and we loved it! Our favorite spot to spend the new year by far. Close to Burlington and Smuggs for skiing and beautiful in the snow.

Sentinel Farms is a working beef cattle farm & equestrian haven in the beautiful Green Mountains. You’ll love it as we have horse riding trails, an outdoor arena and a large barn for events. Enjoy nearby off-road bike trails, x-country skiing, a multitude of golf courses, and unparalleled views/hiking on the valley floor. There are two spacious and private guest rooms, newly renovated for 2016. cozy by a wood stove and enjoy local, Vermont-harvested beef, or vegetarian fare.
Timber frame, wood floors and gorgeous scenery with plenty of walking trails invites you to slow down and reconnect to nature. An active beaver pond in the north east corner of the farm is a wonderful place to sit and paint or write or simply catch your breath. If you have interest in learning the ways of a working farm there are opportunities to learn how to use some tools and enjoy learning from the animals. A repeated comment is, the farm is naturally healing and invites restoration and relaxation. Your host, Kerry Kurt, has been running the farm since 2008, and welcomes you.
Starksboro is nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountains. Time to think Ski! Mad River Glen is 18 miles and Sugarbush around the corner! Commutable and take in plenty of fine dining in every direction while enjoying the wood stove and plenty of space to relax. At Sentinel Farms you enjoy rural country side within minutes of wonderful restaurants, parks, hiking trails, skiing, and local shopping. Only 30 minutes from Burlington, Middlebury, or Warren/Waitsfield. Burlington is Vermont's largest city and home to the University of Vermont.
  • Great place for a Vermont getaway in all-seasons. Kerry is a very kind and thoughtful host and I would definitely stay here again. Location is great for access to hiking and ski areas in north-central Vermont while still being in easy driving distance of Burlington, Middlebury, and Bristol. The farm itself is also a lovely spot with a mission you will be happy to support.

  • This place was such a great find! What a unique space, and Kerry was an amazing host - always available and hospitable. The space was clean and so cozy, the wood burning stove kept it toasty warm while it was single digits outside, the beds were super comfortable with extra padding and flannel sheets, and we loved meeting all the animals that lived on the farm. We had a great experience!

    Michelle2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place is clean, spacious with a wood stove. Kerry is a great host. She provided clear check-in instruction, stock the kitchen, provided some breakfast grocery items, cleaned and set up fire for us during the day. Next to a road but pretty quiet at night. The location was northwest from Sugarbush, about 40-minute drive; and 1-hour to Killington when not snowing. Grocery stores are about 10-min drive away.

    Ye2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy, wood stove and many rocking chairs. Kitchen worked great to cook our Thanksgiving dinner. Kerry was 100% as available as needed - which wasn't much as everything was in working order and her directions about light switches and wood stove operation were great. Staying on a working horse and cattle farm was a shared family adventure.

    Matt2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay with Kerry, who was super welcoming and trusting and clearly wants her guests to enjoy their stay and get as much from it as they can. To that end, we specifically picked Kerry's home because it seemed to offer something different, the chance to dig a little further into farm and equestrian life then we normally have - and Kerry made that so easy - brought us in to meet her horse family, and let us walk anywhere we wanted around the barn and farm - we really enjoyed meeting all her horses, and grew some smiles as they trotted over to say hello to us when we approached them. We had a great experience and would recommend Kerry's place to others. Thanks!

    David2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great resting place where we spent three nights after a long drive from Brooklyn. The girls loved their horse riding experience and we enjoyed Kerry‘s warm welcome!

    Edi2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Kerry was fantastic, always quick to get back to us, very kind sharing tips and advice, fascinating and remarkable woman!! Her fame is spectacular and the living space was beautifully furnished, warm and charming, and exactly what we needed

    Christina2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Do yourself - and your well-being - a great favor and book a few days here. Kerry is an incredible host, and the location is in one of the most beautiful spots in the country.

Come and stay at our farm for a friendly, fun stay. If you love animals and want an interactive stay, this is the place for you!
Although it feels like the middle of nowhere, our house is actually very centrally located! We are 15 minutes from downtown Burlington, 20 minutes from Bolton Valley ski area, 45 minutes from either Sugarbush Resort or Stowe Mountain Resort. We also have many varied Nordic trails all within a couple of miles from our house. In summer, we are less than a mile from the Winooski River, and a short drive to some beautiful swimming holes. We also have some of the best mountain biking literally right in our back yard! We are a short drive or a long hike to the Long Trail and also to Vermont’s best rock climbs. Lake Champlain is only about a 20 minute drive as well.
The town of Richmond is down the road one way, and Williston is down the road the other way. Both towns offer good restaurants, cafes and shopping, and there is a movie theatre in Williston.
  • Great Host! Great breakfast!

    Robert2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a couple of nights and found the location perfect if you wish to explore both Burlington and Stowe/Waterbury. We spent almost half the day trekking around on the amazing property and enjoyed the breakfast very much. Hope to be back soon!

  • Jill’s place was the perfect stop on our way to Montreal. We wanted to get the views of Vermont in a short amount of time and this place was stunning. A beautiful snow covered farm with awesome dogs and sheep and a comfortable bed as well. Breakfast was amazing and it was so nice to meet the other people staying with Jill and everything was really just perfect for our short stay. Jills husband also suggested a stop at Cheese Traders down the road and it was such a cool store. Thank you Jill for making our first trip to Vermont so memorable!

  • Bob was a great host and the house/room was very pleasant. He was super friendly and had great suggestions for local restaurants. This was a great place to stay to ski sugarbush for the weekend—the drive to the mountain is windy and hilly, but very beautiful, so as long as winter weather isn’t too extreme it’s fine.

  • My apprehensions about staying in a room within a home were immediately allayed as Bob and Phoebe greeted me warmly, explained the particulars of the house, and then left me to the privacy of my own room with a private bath. As the only occupant of the entire upstairs I had complete privacy, and didn't hear a peep throughout the house. I highly recommend Bob and Phoebe's place and will definitely stay there again!

  • We had a great time! Everything was perfect. The check in was easy. The suite was well decorated and very clean. We did not want to leave. The whole trip I kept thinking about how much better this is than a hotel.

  • Great place, great setting, great people. The owners also life in the in the home (other side, not with you) so you get the personal touch of people who care. A definite do-again.

  • We found every thing pristine ,when we opened the door we said wow! It lives up to its name ,as Cozy Hollow. Kesta and Mark are truly Super host!

    Samuel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mark & Kesta’s place was phenomenal!!! Cute space perfect for mine and my fiancé’s anniversary getaway! Everything was spotless and perfect no complaints at all and definitely will be coming back!

    Alyssa2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Kesta are incredible hosts! Definitely would recommend to anyone to book your stay at Cozy Hollow! They have everything that you can possibly think of and more! The hot tub was the cherry on top to an incredible Valentines Day weekend.

    Gare2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Mark & Kesta’s place is such a beautiful spot. They are perfectly centralized to so many great locations in Vermont, and they are only about 20-30 minutes from all of them. They went above and beyond making sure to clear the snow when we came. They are extremely friendly and thoughtful. You won’t regret staying here.

    Regan2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Mark & Kesta’s place was perfect! Really cozy and exactly as listed. They were very responsive and gave us lots of good tips for experiencing the area. Would definitely recommend.

    Lane2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Kesta’s place was lovely. The space was better than described/pictured - it’s obvious a lot of time, care, and creativity went into making the suite what it is today. We appreciated all of the little touches - from the artwork to the popcorn maker, French press, and bottled of water waiting for us when we got in. All of their instructions were super clear, and the notes around the suite were helpful as well. Mark and Kesta provided a bunch of great recommendations for our trip (snowshoeing at Sleepy Hollow, breakfast at Parkside, etc). And to top it all off, the hot tub was AMAZING (especially after a long cold day outside). Mark and Kesta were extremely accommodating and responsive. They made us feel very welcome and our only regret was not booking a longer stay! We’ve already recommended this space to a bunch of our friends, and we will be back in the spring once the weather is a bit warmer!

The sky dome floods the yurt with natural light. Bird songs drift in through the screened windows. Wooded trails outside your door. Close to town yet private. Fire pit for sitting out under the stars. double sized bed in loft with memory foam topper makes it very comfy. This is a rustic yet elegant stay. Cooled by fans and heated by wood pellet stove. It is not a good fit for very young children due to the stairs, hot wood stove and rough lumber flooring.
Songbird Sangha is a unique place which has been thoughtfully placed amongst the trees. It's unique design gives you a spaceous and airy feel of being outdoors. The sounds of the birds , peepers and owl's, drift in through the screens. Moonlight streams in through the dome or you can look at the stars while laying in bed. It is heavenly for lover's of the outdoors.
We cannot see other houses from our property. It is quiet, has lovely views and privacy. The village has a book store, several bakery's, art gallery, jewelry store, brewery/bistro, pizza, concerts on the green, farmer's market, hiking and more.
  • The place is incredibly beautiful, very clean, and has everything you need. And Ellen is a wonderful host!

    Jennifer2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely everything about our stay at Ellen and Jay’s yurt was wonderful. We were expecting it to be cute and fun but it far exceeded all our expectations. It’s incredibly comfortable and cosy, charming and romantic. We had our coffee outside on sunny mornings and enjoyed the warmth of the stove and sound of the rain on the yurt on the couple of rainy evenings we had while enjoying home cooked dinners. Have I mentioned falling asleep under the stars and waking up to the birds, the horses, the views, the peace? This is a truly magical place.

    Geraldine2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Ellen and Jay were perfect hosts and their yurt provided a comfortable and cozy space for our stay. We would not hesitate to return. Lovely private setting.

    Lester2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely peaceful no fuss place to stay. The bed was comfortable and downstairs was perfect, there is no microwave so bring food that you can only cook on the stove or toaster oven. Alexa was a good addition to the yurt. We loved having a fire in the fire pit at night then moved into the yurt at night then enjoyed the pellet stove.

    Joanna2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in the yurt was so serene. What a great space Ellen has created, with all the amenities needed to be cozy and comfortable! The animals were a sweet bonus. Ellen and Jay are great people. We would love to return and spend more time checking out Ellen's suggestions. We got some great food at Snaps in Bristol and also stopped at the local market to get ingredients to cook dinner in the yurt too. (Be patient using the pellet stove, it takes a few minutes to get ignited.)

  • Very comfortable stay, and convenient location a few minutes from the airport.

    Ed2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very lovely place in a convenient location- walking distance to the airport! The stairs leading to the room are a bit steep, not really suited for big luggage. Except for towels, it has pretty much everything one could need. Highly recommended!!

  • We were happy to find a great location at a great price. Everything was very clean, and the bed was super comfortable. The coffee, we don't know what it was, was fabulous. Jackie provided us with coffee, water, linens, toiletries, and clean, warm bedding. We would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the Burlington area.

    Alexander2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable and convenient location. Jackie's communication was excellent. Really appreciate that the price was the price -- not a lot of expensive extra costs that too many other folks add on. Great value!

The Red House built in 1850 by the Lafayette family. It rests at the top of a hill, on a dead-end gravel road, at approximately 1600 feet above sea level...very private and quiet. The spectacular views are of the back-side of Mad River Glen and Sugarbush ski areas. The most prominent vistas are of Mt. Lincoln, Mt Abraham, Stark Mt., and Mt. Ellen. This is Vermont country living at its best, with easy year-round access to all the appealing outdoor activities that our state has to offer.
The house is approximately 1450 sq.ft. The dining, kitchen, and family room space are all open to each other, providing a more spacious feeling than the 1850 layout would have allowed. A comfortable living room offers a quiet retreat from the active living space. The three bedrooms are located on the 2nd floor for privacy and quiet. There is a 1/2...more like a 1/4 bathroom or a "micro" bathroomon the 2nd floor, convenient for quick trips in the middle of the night. One large and two small bedrooms provide the sleeping space in this house. Two of the bedrooms have sufficient walk-in closet space, but in 1850 they thought two out of three wasn't bad. Someone may have to share. But, all 3 of the bedrooms have dressers. They also thought that it was okay to walk through one bedroom to get to the other. The two smaller bedrooms are perfect for kids to share or nice for parents who want to be close to their small children. All bedrooms are equipped with overhead fans for comfort and should be sufficient for cooling throughout the summers in the Vermont mountains. The full bath is on the 1st floor. There is a full tub and shower. Towels, hairdryer, first aid, shampoo, and body wash is provided. Enjoy amazing views from the wrap-around deck! The deck is present on all four sides of the home and provides a substantial space for relaxing, entertaining, or simply watching the seasons change. There is a sliding door from the family room to a dining area on the back of the deck and from there, easy access to the naturally landscaped yard. There is a 1.25-acre lawn fully landscaped. A large flat area for outdoor games, and a great hill out front for rolling down or sledding. There are fun large rocks scattered throughout the property to climb or take a rest upon in the sun. There is also a picnic table for 6 in the yard to enjoy meals outside while gazing at the views or night sky. You may take walks or bike rides down the quiet dirt roads or venture out into the woods where there are 100's of acres to enjoy hiking, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing. You will also find wild apples, raspberries, and black raspberries on the property when in season. The Red House looks at the backside of Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. You can see the chairlifts on the peaks of Lincoln and Ellen during the day and the snowcats at night from the house. The house is on a quiet dead-end dirt road in South Starksboro, which is off the App Gap/RT 17. The App Gap is a twisty-turny paved pass through the mountains. You need to go over the App Gap and past Mad River Glen to get to Sugarbush Mountain Resort which is about 15 miles from the house and takes from 20-30 minutes depending on the weather. Even though the App Gap is a state road and is very well maintained, it is recommended you have 4 wheel drive and/or snow tires to make the trip. There is a convenient store (Jerusalem General Store) also with gas, pizza, sandwiches, and quick breakfast items a little over a mile away. And, the town of Bristol is 6.5 miles away... about a 15-minute ride...with a grocery store, pharmacy, bakery, and several restaurants and shops.
Quiet friendly family neighborhood. Please drive safely on the road. There are kids and pets playing and people walking, running, and biking. Some dogs in the area roam and visit, but all are friendly. You may see and hear wildlife during your stay. There are deer, moose, coyote, bear, fox, rabbit, hawks, groundhogs... Please do not leave food outside near the house or try and feed them. This will attract them. They are typically not aggressive and can be scared away with noise, but do not try and approach them...keep them wild. You may hear the coyotes howling at night or owls hooting.
  • Nice old house. Comfy for four!

  • Charming, cozy house in a breathtaking location - this house is the home away from home I wish I had!

  • Perfect house in a great location for skiing at mad river glen. My family of six fit comfortably in the home, and we all enjoyed sitting around playing board games in the kitchen/dining area with warm blankets wrapped around us. Yes, the first floor is chilly bc it’s an old house and it’s Vermont winter... but the location is outstanding for the price and we were all comfortable! Highly recommend for an affordable mad river family ski trip.

    Rebecca2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The red house was a perfect place for us to stay. It was a perfect location to ski at Mad River Glen and to visit our relatives in Hinesburg. Bristol is a short distance away with a grocery store and restaurants and it's an adorable town. The house worked well for the five of us to stay. I only suggest to bring slippers and a warm sweater if your staying in the colder months, the floor is chilly! :)

    Tina2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jenn's place was above expectations. My two children loved all the toys and my four year old enjoyed skiing down the hill and seeing the chickens down the street. For anyone interested in skiing sugarbush you cant beat the value but you definitely want 4WD minimum in bad weather to get over the mountain pass on the way there. A very special thank you to our hostess for offering to pick up a family member who couldn't make it out of Mad River Glenn in the middle of a major snow storm

    Darren2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • House was great. Included everything we needed and I found it to be exactly as advertised. Would definitely stay at Jenn's again.

  • My sons and I enjoyed staying at The Red House. Quintessential Vermont Country House! Close to Mad River and Sugarbush which we enjoyed. I would encourage folks from away to ensure the car they have has 4x4/snow tires. Very clean house and nicely decorated. I would stay here again.

Two bedrooms & one private bath in our beautiful country home on 23 acres. We have two cats. Each room has a queen platform bed w/ memory foam mattress. Lovely walking trails along Baldwin Creek. Three miles to Bristol Village. Easy commute to Sugarbush Ski Resort. Breakfast included. We kindly request limited use of common spaces in the house, such as the living room, TV room, and kitchen. If your party would prefer a full house option, try our other listing, Holiday Retreat.
This space can comfortably accommodate two couples or a family. Pets are welcome. While we do not offer evening kitchen privileges for cooking or dining, it is fine to leave perishable items in our fridge or bring coolers up into the rooms.
Near to Bartlett Falls swimming hole and Mad River Glen/ Sugarbush Ski Resorts.
  • Elaine, is a great host, welcoming and accommodating. The house is beautiful in a rustic, country setting and an easy drive over to Sugarbush. Rooms were nice and comfortable. The skylight in the shower makes it the coolest we've seen so far. Breakfast was tasty. Just be aware that there are two cats in the house in case you might be allergic. Was not a major issue for us, but was a surprise for my wife who has allergies. Overall it was an easy stay and a positive experience that I recommend to anyone who wants to get away for some peace and quiet in the Vermont countryside.

Our cozy, private, rustic mountain yurt is a 30’ foot space located in an upper field tucked into a wooded hillside. Views facing east are great for watching the sunrise and a kitchen and outhouse mean you’ve got everything you need to get out of town for a few days.* The location provides a serene, intimate getaway for couples, artists or anyone looking for a bit of mindful downtime and introspection. The yurt is insulated and can be heated by a wood stove. * Solar shower available upon request
Surrounding fields are available for tent camping should you want to host a larger event and use the yurt for its kitchen and gathering space (the furniture can be removed). The yurt and its verdant surroundings are great for day-long wellness retreats, sound baths, yoga workshops, art classes and more. A recently renovated barn is also available to rent for events, and package deals with the yurt, catering and/or floral services are available. A fully equipped, indoor kitchen is located just a few feet outside the yurt. A drop-toilet outhouse is also nearby. Farm tours, floral workshops and personalized catered meals by Blossom Kitchen and Catering, the on-site vegetarian kitchen, are available upon request for delivery to the yurt with at least two days’ notice. The yurt has a queen-sized bed, dresser, two night tables, and two couches and the kitchen has a breakfast table with four chairs. Linens included.
This is a perfect relaxation spot for bikers and hikers - just beyond the yurt you can enjoy, or even help to improve, newly constructed mountain biking trails Addison County Bike Club’s members have been working on. Rivers and lakes with swimming holes are an easy drive away, as is the charming mountain village of Bristol, with a fully stocked supermarket, two breweries, restaurants of all price ranges, shops and more. Our farmstand is across the street and will be fully stocked in the spring and summer with local food producers' products.

We opted for dinner and breakfast to be brought to the yurt and it was delicious! We will certainly be back again.

This small cottage is nestled in a professionally landscaped garden 1.5 miles north of Bristol village. Cozy double bed, dresser, ceiling fan with vaulted ceiling make it a sweet destination. Very private outdoor shower with hot/cold water, outdoor sink, and a flushable toilet within a separate "outhouse".
The cottage does not have heat which makes this a seasonal rental only. In cool weather, an electric space heater works great. The double sized bed makes this a cozy fit for two.
Bristol is a charming village nestled on the western side of the Green Mountains and surrounded by farmland. Hiking trails start from the village or are within a short drive. On hot summer days, check out Bartlett Falls and other swimming holes in the New Haven River. There are miles of cycling on paved or dirt roads in any direction. The famous App Gap or Lincoln Gap challenges start/end here. 20 minutes from Middlebury College; 30 minutes to Kingsland Bay State Park on Lake Champlain; 45 minutes to Burlington. There are plenty of restaurants, from gourmet to casual, serving locally sourced food and craft brews. Our downtown is one block long with an interesting mix of stores and friendly shopkeepers. Honey Lights, a charming beeswax candle shop, makes great gifts. Art on Main features local artists of all genres. Rocky Dale Gardens is a treasure. Music, farmer’s markets, food and brew tours and berry picking are just a few options for local summer experiences within Addison County.
  • Gorgeous little cottage. It was like a dream. My boyfriend and I stayed one night and hope to come back again next year for even longer. Very cozy with a nice little town center.

  • Amazing

    Kyle2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Much cozier than expected. The outside shower was perfect after a long day of hiking. The bed was so, so comfortable. Marianne was an absolute delight, and she had her kitty in her arms when she met us!! If you need a small, comfortable spot to rest your head, this is the place!

    Gigi2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Marianne’s place is such a perfect, sweet, amazing little gem, nestled in the gorgeous hills of Vermont. Absolutely fell in love with the outdoor shower (in October!) which affords plenty of privacy and hot water. Temperatures were dipping into the low 40’s at night and we were plenty warm with the cabin’s little heater and blankets. Marianne is kind, helpful and allows her guests the space to relax and unwind. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and nearby downtown Bristol is all that you could wish for in rural VT with a grocery store, cafes, restaurants and shops with local crafts. You’re gonna love it so much!

    Theresa2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint little cabin in the woods! Definitely a fun experience

    Liz2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The location was lovely, the grounds well maintained. The cabin is very clean and the outdoor facilities private. The patio perfect for wine, cheese and a fresh salad from the local pizzeria in Bristol.

    Laura2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is absolutely adorable- the perfect weekend getaway for someone who’s looking to have a rustic experience! We loved the outdoor shower and the decor, as well as the amazing coffee that Marianne provided! The downstairs was nice and cozy with a fireplace and large windows that overlooked the beautiful Vermont countryside. We had breakfast ready for us each morning complete with got coffee and tea. There were plenty of sheets and blankets available in our charming private room. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to the Bristol or Burlington area!

John’s place is located in Monkton, Vermont, United States. We are on a dirt road in a country setting with Vineyards, Ski and snowboard, Farms, Downtown Bristol, Downtown Burlington, Downtown Vergens, Downtown Middlebury, Countless Breweries, some of the best food Vermont has to offer and MUCH MUCH more, all just 30 minutes away in every direction!
  • John and Sara were great hosts—super friendly, laid back, and down to earth. Their place was just what we needed for a quick rest between days of skiing. Will aim to stay with them again!

    Eric2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • John & Sara made this trip unforgettable. With Johns amazing fresh baked goods in the morning, and loads of coffee, our days started off great! He even took us to meet his animals, along with his friends farm down the road. And don’t even get me started on their dog Ralph, cutest dog in the world!

    Sarah2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • John and Sara are amazing hosts! John communicated very promptly and with great detail. We felt instantly welcome. Having arrived in the evening from a long ride from the Boston area, we were greeted by John who was very kind to wait for us and make sure we had everything we needed. To our delight he even showed us the pigs and chickens and patiently answered our gazillion questions though it was already dark out. We are not the kind of people who are looking for the Hyatt, so if that’s what you’re looking for then this might not be a match. But for us it’s about the best airbnb experience we’ve had. We feel so fortunate to have stayed here. The other guests seemed very happy as well, and this is a great place to bring a kid! The property is an amazing homestead located in Monkton by the Bristol line, with 10 acres of hard work and a lot of love. They have sheep, pigs, chickens, and an English mastiff named Ralph. (Ralph was definitely one of the highlights of our stay! He must be the original inspiration for Wreck-it Ralph—but fortunately did not wreck anything. Just watch the tail.) Our room was one of the bedrooms on the second floor with access to a full bathroom. The hosts had already placed towels and washcloths in our room before we arrived. There was another half bath downstairs. The kitchen has everything you need, including a full and constant supply of hot coffee! In the morning we also got to have some of the super-delicious eggs by the homestead’s very own chickens! Sara and John are both from Vermont and very knowledgeable of the area as well as all things homestead. The next morning we got to visit all the animals including the magnificent Icelandic sheep. Sara and John also took us on a farm tour of a great farm nearby and introduced us to other local homesteaders. Mentorship is essential for starting a homestead, John mentioned, and was most generous to extend a welcome to us in his circle of acquaintance and be so supportive of our dream. We certainly lucked out having stayed with them and learned a ton of stuff. Had we stayed in Burlington as we originally thought of, we wouldn’t have had such a unique and eye-opening experience. (We did drive to Burlington and spent some time there, which made us only more glad to have stayed in Monkton/Bristol instead.) Last but not least, we got to try the decadent Mangalitsa pork raised on the homestead. If you’ve never had it, or even if you have, this is a must try. One of us had never really liked pork—now love it! This pork has color and texture closer to beef steak yet with a milder scent, and a bursting combination of flavors when Iightly seasoned and pan-seared for less than 15 minutes. We got more to bring home with us, and only wish our home freezer had more space so we could have brought more. We also brought home some of John’s soaps made with homegrown eggs. All in all this is no question one of the best Airbnb stays either of us has ever had. We look forward to staying with Sara and John again hopefully sometime soon. We heartily recommended their place to anyone visiting the area. Note that due to traffic, it’d take you less time to drive from here to Burlington than from say Essex (right next to Burlington).

The charming Village of Bristol is 5 minutes, 20 to the wonderful little City of Vergennes, 30 minutes to Burlington International Airport. Montreal is 2 1/2 hours to the north, Boston 3 hrs. south. We are very close to Lake Champlain for summer water play, as well as world-class skiing at Sugarbush, Madriver, and The Middlebury College Snow Bowl and Reichert Ski Touring Center. Stowe is an hour to the north. Hiking, snowshoeing, serious sledding, secret swimming holes, biking, and cross-country opportunities abound just outside the front door. Numerous great restaurants, artisan cheese and bread makers and several flourishing Farmer's Markets are open year-round. It's a perfect spot for city-dwellers to kick back for a weekend in the country, or for putting up family members during Reunions, Parent's Weekends, Homecoming and Graduations at Middlebury College. Numerous Brides and Grooms have chosen the Apartment for their honeymoons. If you would like to have a Massage, Cooking Class, or an Artisinal Cheese Selection, we would be delighted to arrange it. Flowers for your special event? Please let us know how we can help you plan your perfect get-away. There are plenty of places to get well fed and caffinated nearby. Bristol is home to the incomparable Almost Home Market, the Bristol Cliffs Cafe and Bakery, and Snaps Diner. Dinners out are also a treat: visit with Chef Doug Mack and his wife Linda Harmon of Mary's at Baldwin Creek for fabulous locally grown everything (cooking classes!), or go to the Bobcat for a local Brew and Bistro Fare. Not to be missed either, are the sublimely French Tourterelle (Best Boulliabaise Ever), in New Haven, and the Vergennes Laundry for superb coffee and pastries, fresh oysters and sandwiches. Did I forget to mention Middlebury Chocolates, Daily Chocolate and lu.lu's small-batch ice cream in Vergennes, and all the local brews? So much more great food and drink, so little time!!! We can acommodate two adults in a queen bed, and also have a double-bed as well for an extra couple or child, 35 dollars a night per person in the second bed. Fresh linens, fresh coffee, teas and snacks are provided by us. Canine friends are welcome only downstairs in the barn garage (the floor is heated and the space cozy), and are not allowed in the apartment. Bring kennel and or bed. Please be advised - If your pet cannot be out of your sight, the barn is not going to work for them!
Private, peaceful, beautiful views, convenient to everything you might want to do in our part of the state. Addison County is ideally located between Lake Champlain (summer water games) to the west, the Presidential Range to the east (Mad River Glen, Sugarbush, Stowe Mountain Resort). Quaint, upscale Vergennes is 15 minutes. To the north and south, two College towns: Burlington and Middlebury.
  • We loved our stay! It was so peaceful and a perfect getaway.

  • Truly beautiful, cozy loft apartment. Breathtaking windows looking out to the mountains. Christine and John have a lovely home and were very accommodating. Their directions from the town center are clear - there are dirt roads. In general, we do not recommend driving from 89 up through the Green Mountain National Forest, at night, in the winter, like we did (live and learn and we made it out completely fine!). AWD/4WD vehicle is recommended. The space is incredible! Very well designed, couches to curl up on, and a great selection of tea. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful and the heated floors were a nice touch. We were very comfortable during our quick respite in the mountains. I could not get enough of that view and my boyfriend loved the sunshine in the morning. Loved talking with John and saying hello to their sweet dog Nellie. We want to stay here again in the summer to explore all that the Green Mountains have to offer!! Highly recommend Bobcat Café and the Recycled Reading of Vermont shop (books, art supplies, musical instruments, and more!). Middlebury is also fun to walk through - we enjoyed the Vermont’s Own Products shop there! Overall a real gem. We couldn’t believe our luck in finding this rental and we heartily recommend it.

  • Gorgeous barn with high end amenities. Be warned if you are booking in the winter, it's about a 40-50 minute drive to Sugarbush Resort, as the Lincoln Gap Road is closed in the winters. Very secluded and private.

    Jordan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Christine is a straightforward host with only a few simple rules. The space is tucked away in a beautiful location. Plenty of room to hang out and get your rest. We had a great stay and will certainly look to book with her again.

    Kara2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing gem tucked away in rural VT. I stayed at the end of a warm spell and the beginning of an arctic blast. 10+/- Inches of snow and wet ground that froze underneath. Come with AWD if you are visiting in winter. Christine pointed out the best hikes and snowshoeing opportunities, the latter of which I commenced from out the front door and on snowshoes provided by Christine. Highly and unreservedly recommend it. Hope to return in summer and again in winter!

    Marcus2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend! Great location and comfortable place.

    Shaqed2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Christine was incredibly welcoming and the space was simply amazing. The view from the spacious and beautiful room was absolutely breathtaking. It was like waking up in an enchanted forest each morning with views of snow falling over Mt Abraham. With the lovely town of Bristol only 15 minutes away (we loved the Bristol Cliffs Cafe) where you can find everything you need to enjoy a romantic dinner back at the Barn. We would both love to return for another visit. Thank you Christine!!

    Emily2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Christine was amazing in every aspect. The barn is very comfy and charming with unique details. We loved our stay and hope to come back soon. Above expectations!!!

Dorothy & Harriett’s Room has been described as: comfortable, cozy, quiet, peaceful and of course whimsical. The room comes with access to the kitchen, Gathering spaces and outdoor porches and patios. Centrally located between Burlington, Middlebury and Vergennes. Also near Ski Resorts; Sugarbush, Mad River and Middlebury Snow Bowl. Yet far enough away tucked up inside the Green Mountain Nat’l Forest for a full rural Vermont experience.
Dorothy & Harriett’s is inside The Old Hotel. A former Hotel on the Coach run to Montpelier. Inside the Room: A very memory foam king bed (less than a year). A small token is also provided (Sweet or savory) and a karaffe of water . The bathroom is stocked with Vermont Soap Co. or Yardley products and Hemp. Co Shampoo. All is organic and animal cruelty free. A/C and Heat is adjustable by a thermostat in the stairwell. (Temp is listed in Celsius) Inside the House, Common areas: You are welcome to use the common spaces and enter through the main house. Inside are two living areas, a foyer and kitchen. Please feel free to use these areas if you wish. One area is the Music Room. There are book cases filled with family books and music, a piano and fireplace to enjoy. The other living area has the kitchen, dining table and gathering area. WiFi is through the House as well. Also pease be aware there is one cat in the House. He is relegated to the gathering room and kitchen and not allowed upstairs. Outside Grounds: The grounds outside are Hotel, in good weather, are full of gardens to enjoy. A fire pit out back is great for evening gatherings. Also in the back is a large patio with tables and chairs. Many paths also wander the gardens. Two very large porches allow for enjoying both sides of the Hotel. The Front enjoys lots of sun and one can enjoy the bustle of a small town. The back is very quiet and looks over all the English Cottage style gardens and an old paddock. Area: Food is plentiful so lets start there. Lots of local options for eating out with award winning options and local hot spots. In town is the General Store. The local Mercantile that sells all the staples as well as a pretty good wine and beer selection. Also delicious sweets, wraps, sandwiches, soups and stews. A great place to catch up on all the local gossip and get a taste of Vermont flavor. Beyond, in Bristol, are the first options for restaurants, and it does not disappoint. The Bobcat Cafe, Snaps, Cubbers Pizza, and several local markets as well as chain pharmacy and supermarket. Also within an Hours Drive are many options and activities. Farms, Middlebury College, Sugarbush, Mad River Glen Ski resorts, Rivers and Creeks for kayaking, white water and fishing. Lake Champlain and its many views, ferry’s and water sports are 20 minutes out. Hiking and Bike are plentiful. We are 5 mins to the Long Trail and can be used as a stop on the way or a staging area. There are also Massage Therapists available upon request. However the real beauty of this place is to just sit and relax and enjoy the community ***Please Note! Your Room and Bathroom are yours and private but the bath is across the hall (2 steps) this is not a Suite
Lincoln is all about community. We are a rural mountain town that enjoys its neighbors and surrounding areas. To find out about the local’s and anything going on its best to stop by the General Store. Like any quintessential Vermont General Store this is the place to catch up on the neighbors, issues, and goings on about town. (They also have great baked goods and wines.). Activities in town require more exertion but are definitely worth the effort. From hiking and biking the many back roads, trails and hikes; to fishing, hunting, skiing, snowshoeing or kayaking. There are plenty of vistas, views and just plain beautiful mountain scenery. But it you need a little more convenience, Bristol is just down the road 10 minutes with town parks, restaurants and storefronts.
  • Quaint, relaxing and comfortable. Our stay was beyond our expectations. Looking forward to returning.

    Nancy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place is awesome if your looking for a much cheaper alternative to staying at a hotel. Great location because its relatively close to the mountains for skiing/snowboarding. Also, there is a small town near by with some great restaurants to check out.

    Artem2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed here twice and absolutely love it! It’s in a beautiful location with access to many popular spots. Accommodating, private and very clean! Thank you again!!

Guest's will enjoy a large private guest room and private bathroom in our personal home where my partner Jay and I live with our friendly dog Riley. We love animals although at this time our dog is not comfortable with other dogs in the house. Guest's will have access to the kitchen for breakfast, the living room, front porch, walking trails, outdoor fire pit complete with star gazing in the warmer months. Please communicate your dinner time if requesting to use the kitchen. Thank you.
Our log cabin is an authentic hand built Vermont home with wood fires and a casual, cozy decor. We have a private master bedroom with bath for our personal use and a large private bedroom and bath for our guest's. The guest room is up stairs and the guest bathroom is downstairs. The stairs are steep but supplied with hand rails on both sides.
Secluded and private yet located close to the village of Bristol, Vergennes, Middlebury and Burlington. Ideal location for enjoying local activities and getting away at the end of the day. Many choices for hiking, biking, shopping, wineries, galleries, museums, and farmer's markets.
  • Amazingly clean and close to so many local towns as well as touristic attractions. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. I was looking at so many places and couldn’t find anything better. Thank you Ellen and Jay!

  • Guests at Ellen & Jay can expect sunsets & solitude, that is great views of starry skies and mountains, quietness while walking their trails or relaxing with a book by the wood stove. Our hosts were present to our needs, although very respectful of our privacy. Highly recommended.

Bristol BNB is located in a working artist's home on a quiet street, one block from town. Located on the second floor, with bedrooms, hall kitchenette, and a full bath. A side porch is included, accessed from the private front entrance. The space is welcoming, quiet, and cozy. Bristol offers great restaurants, a bookshop, gallery, coffee shops and New England charm. Skiing, hiking and swimming holes nearby. Host available for assistance on site or by text. Vermont charm and comfort.
This space is very private and peaceful. It is a five minute walk into town, to the coffee shop on the corner, the river, the library, restaurants and the store. It is close to hiking, Mad River Glen is an easy 1/2 hour drive and Sugar Bush is another five minutes (22 miles) though it is a mountain drive, so snow tires are recommended. Middlebury is eleven miles away(15 minutes) and Burlington is forty minutes.
The neighborhood is charming and a stroll around the village is very enjoyable. Many of the houses have beautiful gardens, porches and the green is a welcoming place to sit and relax.
  • Wonderful trip - Deborah's home is in walking distance to a bunch of restaurants. Home was clean and we had plenty of room.

We are now closed for the winter. We want to thank all our wonderful guests for being a part of a very busy and enjoyable season. We will be opening for the 2020 season on May fifteenth and are looking forward to another season of meeting fun and interesting folks. See you then! Sam and Fran
PLEASE READ THROUGH BEFORE RESERVING. Alder Brook Cabin is a tiny rustic lodge on the edge of the woods. Jericho Road is a main route to the northeast corner of the state and can be busy during morning and evening commute times however, the cabin is secluded from the road. It features a single room with attached screened porch, bunk beds for two, electric lights, a small fridge, coffee maker, microwave and WIFI. Enclosed outdoor hot and cold shower and marine style toilet are located twenty five feet away. These amenities are "open-air" but lattice enclosed for privacy (see photos). The screened porch is a perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee, a glass of wine or a dram of scotch in the evening. Board games are available on request. There is a fire pit with benches outside for cozy evenings by the fireside and marshmallow toasting. Firewood is supplied. This is "Glamping" at its best: almost camping but without sleeping on the hard ground! Instead, be close to the outdoors but enjoy clean, pressed sheets cotton bath linens, and the hottest, strongest shower you've had in years. What more could you ask? We are ten miles from the Burlington waterfront and four miles out of Essex Junction. Stowe and Ben and Jerry's are a forty minute drive. A multiplex theater, grocery and outlet stores, restaurants and mini golf are all found within a mile of the cabin. Parking is a few feet away onsite and we are on a limited bus route. (no weekend service) This is a place for folks who want to "rough it" a bit but still maintain some creature comforts. We have spent many nights in the cabin and we love it but, all the same it's not for everyone. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do. This year the cabin has additional electrical outlets and a station for convenient charging of electronic devices. We're already off to a great season with our usual wonderful late spring weather and lots of new friends lining up to visit the cabin. We're looking forward to meeting and welcoming you to our special little corner of Vermont. To us there are no strangers, just friends we haven't met. See you soon! Check in time is 4:00pm to 9:00pm only. Please be respectful of this. We have very busy lives and much of the time it is just not possible to have the cabin ready for occupancy before 4:00.
The neighborhood is a fairly quiet residential area. Behind the cabin is an extensive forested area with a brook.
  • This is a great option for a one-night stop or for the thrifty traveler who packs light, as the space is very small. The beds are VERY comfortable, and the cabin is quaint and cozy!

    Katie2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • It is rustic in that the shower truly is outdoors (nice hot water) and the bathroom is a portapotty (spell?). It’s a cute space very accessible to Burlington and a supermarket and restaurants nearby.

    Nina2019-10-05T00:00:00Z

    Drew2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience! Very clean, quaint, and quiet cabin perfect for a secluded getaway. I would recommend this location to any + all folks that enjoy to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life! However, still close enough to spend a day in Burlington.

Oh, and then there are the perfect hosts, John and Manjula. It’s a special experience.

  • As you pull up to the mill, it is immediately apparent you have arrived at a very special place!! John’s hospitality is second to none and his knowledge and passion for this historic site are evident. We so enjoyed camping by the sound of the falling water and the warmth of the fire pit at night. The pancakes and breakfast were delicious and the company was wonderful, as the cozy indoor space lends itself to conversation. Thank you John for your hospitality and we hope to come back and visit again soon. Wahoowa! Brodde & Stefani

    Brodde2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • First and foremost, although the pictures are gorgeous they do not come close to the real thing. From the moment we stepped out of the car the rushing of the waterfall and the peaceful calm of the campsite had us feeling like we walked into a storybook. The view from the tent house is incredible. Not only the falls and the foliage but the mill house itself it something to behold. Everywhere you look new details emerge, crafted lovingly by hands invested in seeing something special last. The tent house itself is well appointed with plenty of places to sit, and small pieces of furniture to rest your belongings. The bed is very comfortable, and sleeping bags provided just the right amount of warmth for a chilly autumn night. Speaking of warmth the fire pit is perfect and the smores (provided) were thoroughly enjoyed. The outdoor shower is a must, with temperature as hot as you could want and enough pressure to wash the day away. The outdoor bathroom is is kept extremely clean, and is located within a separate structure close enough by the campsite to make it easy to get to but not so close that it intrudes on the beauty of the space. The bathroom, campsite, and shower are all well lit (with lighting/flashlights provided). getting around at night is no difficult task. All in all cleanliness and comfort are beyond expectation and EXACTLY as described. The hosts are wonderful people who seem to truly enjoy sharing this special place with others. John gave us a brief but detailed tour when we first arrived that answered any questions before they could be thought of. The hosts provided us privacy but we felt we could ask for or about anything without hesitation. Suggestions for nearby stores and restaurants were appreciated. The hosts have considered EVERYTHING a person might need . During breakfast (delicious) before we left we chatted in the kitchen of the mill, just like we were speaking with friends we have known for years. John graciously answered questions and shared with us some of the history of the mill. Speaking about the people whose vision and hard work have made this place a wonder to stand the test of time. Do yourself and someone you love a favor and spend time in this place, and the sweet towns nearby. I know we will surely be back, this place touched our hearts.

  • John is an outstanding host! He goes above and beyond with his hospitality, yet remains invisible unless you need him. He had some suggestions and advice for us and shared his experiences as well. The site was amazing, the view was incredible, it was perfectly clean and cozy and we highly recommend staying there! We would certainly love to go back and stay there again soon!

  • Definitely one of my best life experiences! The place is beautiful and clean. Exactly likes described (and even prettier). My girlfriend and I felt welcomed as soon as we arrived, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. John also gave us amazing recommendations on what to do in the area and we were not disappointed! If you need a break from the city, this little paradise is your place to go!

    Valérie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great find and a great experience. This is my kind of camping because I own zero gear, and if I did own any, I would hate setting up. Its all done for you! The location is amazing and John is more than happy to help with whatever is needed.

  • What a wonderful weekend stay. Hosts were very friendly, welcoming, had great tips and were just a treat to spend time with. Stay here can be as private as you want it to be. The area by the tent is extremely relaxing with a very nice tent setup. Hosts will provide anything you need during the stay. Oh and great breakfast and coffee every morning! We will be back!

This is a spacious guesthouse/retreat where you can relax and unwind. There are great views and walking down the road is like paradise with open fields bordered by woods and teaming with wildlife. Nestled in the foothills of the green mountains, we’re just 10-15 minutes to restaurants in Bristol or Middlebury and 30-40 minutes to the lake or skiing. Come explore all that Addison County has to offer and you’ll quickly find why so many people choose to stay.
This is a large one bedroom apartment with tall ceilings and great light. It has vintage touches mixed with modern amenities.
Our house is a 1/4 mile from the nearest neighbor, at the end of a dirt road. It is at the top of a hill so it has great views of the foothills and the back side of Mad River Glen through the Bristol gap. The road is great for walks or bike rides and the area is famous for it's great hiking, skiing or sailing.
  • I had a wonderful stay at Ben's! He has tastefully decorated the large apartment above his woodworking shop...giant comfy beds, open kitchen/dining space, lots of hot water, and a separate entrance. Ben is a gracious host and fun to talk with. Stay here if you have the opportunity, highly recommended!

  • Ben keeps a sparkling clean property with plenty of space and lots of cozy touches. Every space includes comfortable seating, sleeping and eating. I think there is a rocking chair in every room! Clutter-free but with everything you need to relax and enjoy time away. Don’t pass up the chance to stay here!

  • Ben's loft is amazing!!! The place is very comfortable and well equipped and has a beautiful view of the mountains. It was private and quiet- a perfect get away from the city. Ben was also quick to respond to us when we had questions. We definitely want to come back!

  • What a picture perfect place nestled in the mountains of Vermont. I’m always looking for the most unique places to stay at and this place did not disappoint. The kitchen was amazing and I had fun making dinner for my family each night. Also taking morning runs on the local roads. Will definitely be coming back.

Our unique home is located at Shelburne Airport on a private grass strip. Pilots and everyone welcome! This 750 square foot private apartment is on the lower level of our newly renovated modern industrial style home. The space contains a large bedroom with Queen bed and adjoining bath, kitchen with all new appliances and a lovely dining area, and living room. Overlooking the Adirondack Mountains and 1 mile from the amenities of the quaint town of Shelburne, this is your home away from home!
The brand new kitchen is fully equipped with five burner gas stove, matching refrigerator and hand crafted butcher block counters. Queen bed in separate bedroom, updated bath with shower, hairdryer, washing machine, soap, shampoo, and conditioner. You can expect the kitchen to have coffee, cream and sugar when you arrive, in case you get in late!
As mentioned above, this is a small grass strip airport with only a few houses along the private dirt road. Houses are not close together, so you will enjoy a fair amount of privacy. As you look out across the field to your west (back side of the house) you will see the Adirondacks beyond with Lake Champlain in front (though the lake is not visible unless you get on the roof and we are not suggesting that!). Also to the west you will see the Agrarian buildings of the Teddy Bear Factory and quite nearby the famous Folinos wood fired pizza along with Fiddlehead Brewing. To your east you will see the Green Mountains of Vermont in the distance! Not as easy to see when the foliage is out, but stunning in the winter. Lovely sunrises and sunsets to be enjoyed as well! Local Shelburne amenities are all a quick drive away: Shelburne Museum, Shelburne Country Store, Shelburne Farms, a local grocery store, coffee and wine shop, Shelburne Orchards and a fine variety of restaurants.
  • Wonderful space. Thoughtful host. Plan to stay again if available on return trip!

  • This BRB has the all the amenities that you can think of, felt like a home away from home. Just 20 minutes away from Burlington, and very close to other places of entertainment such as the Shelburne Museum. The place was immaculately clean and pretty spacious. My daughter and her friend slept in the bedroom, while I was able to sleep on the couch that folds down flat located in the living room, this was very nice for me, since I didn't have to listen to any bickering! 😁. I would definitely go back there! PS, I was also able to cook a couple meals while we we there!!
