  • Absolutely beautiful location and such scenic views from the hot tub. Short taxi into Hilltown. Annette couldn’t have been lovelier and was so helpful with all queries, local tips and useful numbers. She also gave the best directions and instructions. Enjoyed reading through the very comprehensive and informative guest book with even local restaurant menus to peruse! So thoughtful and helpful! We had gone for a late valentines treat and Annette had so thoughtfully left petals and heart shaped cushions on the bed - such a lovely surprise! We both had lovely massages/facials with Siobhan next door and I couldn’t recommend more! Very relaxing and what a nice way to treat yourself before the hot tub! Very thoughtful and kind to leave us milk, eggs and butter for the morning. Albeit brief, it was such a lovely stay and will definitely be back! Thank you Annette! :) xxx

We only stayed for a night so didn’t get to see much of the surroundings but the view from the hot tub was amazing!Annette was very kind to show us around the house and also left some fresh milk etc for breakfast the next morning. Highly recommend!

  • This is a total gem in the Mournes. Annettes place is the perfect place to spend the weekend and indeed even longer. Location is excellent, views of the area are stunning and the apartment is spotless with so many little extras left for guests. The hot tub was a great bonus too after a days walking. Annette is a charming host and we greatly enjoyed our chats with her. I recommend her place 100% to all future Airbnb guests.

A quiet rural retreat, Birch Cottage is off grid and the perfect spot to escape from the world outside. Based on our self sufficient smallholding, you can wake to a view of the beautiful birch woods outside your window, and enjoy the peace and quiet. Walk in the woods, meet the horses and hens, and enjoy fresh produce from our gardens. Some of the most stunning countryside in Northern Ireland is your doorstep. A warm and cosy haven. TNI 4 Star Rated, Green Tourism Gold and Green Key rated.
Birch Cottage sits at the centre of Lackan Cottage Farm, a rural six acre organic smallholding in the heart of the South Down countryside, the home of Steve, Claire and Lyra Golemboski-Byrne. Here we grow our own vegetables, fruit and herbs, keep chickens for eggs, and generate all our own electricity. Our wish is to share the experience of that lifestyle with as many people as possible, and Birch Cottage self catering is an opportunity to do just that. Sleeps 2 – 1 Superking bed or 2 singles. Eco friendly finishes throughout. Heating and hot water is provided by solar panels which power the underfloor heating, supplemented by a cosy woodburner if necessary. The entire farm, including the cottage is off grid - powered entirely by renewable energy on site. We also have our own private woodland for fuel and newly planted willow plantations for basketry and sculpture. We keep two horses on site, which is also home to four cats and lots of chickens. We run courses in various skills such as basket making and greenwoodworking, throughout the year. We also grow plenty of fruit and vegetables, and will let visitors know what is available at the time of their visit. There is: Secure bike store. Drying room, washing machine, dryer. Wifi ****We are unable to accommodate children or pets**** Things to do: Walk around our gardens and woodland. On a clear night, go outside and look at the stars! There are many walks starting from the end of our lane including through Lackan Bog ASSI (which we own a small part of), and which is home to many dragonflies species. We are close to Tollymore and Castlewellan forest parks, Mourne Mountains and the sea. There are lots of maps and guides in the cottage for walking and cycling, and a large rack of many activities from pony trekking to mountain biking to local history such as the Bronte family trail. There are also bird, animal and plant identification books if you spot something interesting. Tourist Board approved 4* accommodation. Green Tourism Gold rated, and the first Green Key approved business in Northern Ireland.
We're based in rural County Down, a short drive away from the Mourne Mountains, Dromara Hills, Slieve Croob, Castlewellan or Tollymore Forest Parks - scene of much of the filming for 'Game of Thrones', and also the beautiful Murlough Bay. Newcastle town and beach are also just 15 minutes drive away.
  • This was a beautiful cottage, great location and hospitality from Claire, would definitely recommend!!

    Rachel2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Claire's place was just the perfect stop for our relaxing evening after spending the day in Belfast. We stayed by the fire drinking wine and played guitar. It was perfect! I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for a relaxing evening away from it all. The bed was so cozy as well and it was very clean. Just 5 stars across the board!

    Mike2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Complete peace in a cosy, country retreat. Stunning sunrise against mountains in the morning. Everything you might need is provided. Would recommend.

    Cat2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Claire and Steve have created a beautiful home away from home. We were there in winter and enjoyed the cosiness of the wood burning stove and the comfortable bed. We cooked nice meals for ourselves - the gas stove was great and we let the peace and quiet soothe us. Lovely part of the world for walks in the Mournes and on the coast. Also wonderful to be off-grid and heated by solar panels and the stove. The cottage has been lovingly constructed with gorgeous wooden worktops and sills and reclaimed rural architecture. Highly recommended!

  • This is one of my favorite new spots. My wife and I couldn’t have settled into Ireland the same way had we not stayed here. Claire suggested so many great things and we ended up doing them all. Just a quick 40 minute drive to Belfast, and an hour from Dublin. You can make this your home base to see some of the best parts of Ireland. Do not hesitate, book this place before I can again!

    Joel2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was lovely, I really thanks Claire for this expérience ! I recommand!

Cara Cottage is located on the outskirts of the village of Kilcoo in the heart of Mourne. In an idyllic quiet setting, there are breath-taking views and easy access to walking and biking trails nearby. A cosy one-bedroom detached cottage, sleeping 2 adults + 2 children or 4 adults, this is a perfect rural retreat for relaxation or a base to explore everything the local area has to offer. https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2019/oct/07/mourne-mountains-northern-ireland-adventure-holiday-hiking-k
We’re ideally located for access to the many outdoor activities the Mournes have to offer. Within ten minutes of the cottage you’ll find Game of Thrones filming location Tollymore Forest, the buzzing seaside town of Newcastle, home of Royal County Down Golf Course and Slieve Donard, the highest mountain in Ulster. Cara Cottage has a modern open plan kitchen, dining and living space. The fully equipped kitchen includes lots of storage and surface space, a fridge, oven/hob, microwave, toaster, and kettle. The dining table seats 4, and in the living room along with TV/DVD the multi-fuel stove is ideal for sitting by the fire in the evening. So you don’t have to worry, fuel for the fire is provided for you- enjoy! The living room has a sofa bed which would suit 2 adults/children, and the bedroom has a double bed. A travel cot is available if needed, as well as a high chair/booster seat. The bathroom has a full suite, including bath and separate electric shower and a hairdryer is provided. For laundry, there’s a utility space with storage, access to a clothes horse or outside line for drying and an iron and ironing board. Cara Cottage is situated to the side/rear of our family home, so there’s ample parking at the front, and lots of space on the lawn to the side for a picnic on the grass or for children to safely play outside. The easiest way to get around is by car, but buses run through Kilcoo village connecting us with Newry City, Castlewellan, Newcastle and onwards to Belfast. Kilcoo village is 5 minutes walk from Cara Cottage and has a mini supermarket, a food take-away, petrol station, and church. There are two local pubs which both serve food. Nearby Castlewellan Castle, Lake, Forest Park, Arboretum and bike trail are definitely worth a visit, and don’t miss the Peace Maze, one of the world's largest permanent hedge mazes. If you’re planning on exploring further afield, Downpatrick (burial place of Saint Patrick) is 20 minutes drive, Newry City is 25 minutes away, and Dublin is an hour down the motorway from there. Heading North, Belfast is 50 minutes by car from Cara Cottage. Closer to home, if you’re discovering or revisiting the Mourne Mountains, we personally recommend the stunning Brandy Pad, Hares Gap and Trassey Track. Venture further and take in Spelga Dam and neighbouring Hilltown, only 10 minutes drive from Kilcoo. Onwards towards the beautiful coastal town of Rostrevor and Kilbroney Forest Park for more stunning scenery. We would suggest following the coast road, taking in Greencastle’s 13th Century Norman Castle, Cranfield’s beautiful sandy beach and Kilkeel Harbour. Continue along the coast through Ballymartin, Annalong and back to Newcastle for a bite to eat before heading home to Cara Cottage. There are plenty of fantastic food options for you, such as Kilcoo’s own Greenan’s Steakhouse, as well as Maginns Bar & Restaurant in Castlewellan, and Villa Vinci, Vanilla, Great Jones’, and Brunel’s in Newcastle. Be sure to sample some famous Mourne seafood during your stay in Dundrum’s Mourne Seafood Bar too.
This is a rural location and a close knit community, with lots to do in the surrounding area. https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2019/oct/07/mourne-mountains-northern-ireland-adventure-holiday-hiking-kayaking-cycling?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_WhatsApp

  • Mary and her family are lovely. Always offered to drive us when was raining. The location is great, bus station just down the hill. The cottage was clean and stylish and they had even a welcome pack. Really nice experience.

  • This was the perfect place to stay for a quiet weekend away. The cottage is so cosy and quaint and my kids loved being next door to the sheep :) Such a peaceful place with only the sound of bleating when you open the door. The hosts were so warm and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and having the fire lit for us too :) The cottage had everything we needed inside. We didn’t want to leave!

  • A wonderful place to stay and to get to know the landscape, Mary's cottage was very clean and nicely decorated, communication with the hosts was perfect. I can only recommend it. Many thanks.

    Thorsten2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely spotless, toasty warm and plenty of space for a couple or small family. The views are truly unbelievable, views are constantly changing due to the clouds, and the loudest thing around the area is the occasional passing tractor bringing bales of hay to the fields. Blissful! This was our second visit to Cara Cottage which says it all, we had actually forgotten just how fresh the air is there! My partner was genuinely upset to be leaving. Thank you so much Mary, we will definitely be back as soon as possible :)

    MONICA2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lada’s place was very clean and tidy. Facilities provided were all there, the little kitchen was a good touch. The shower room/ toilet and bedroom was massive. You have a lot of space to relax and it was a great stay for visiting the Mournes. After walking all day it was great to come back to a hot shower and hot tea. I definitely recommend for anyone wanting to visit around Newry. Lada definitely went the extra mile to make sure there was everything you need to feel at home :)

Unplug and unwind in our off-grid horsebox here at Lackan Cottage Farm, in the beautiful County Down countryside with great views of the Mourne Mountains. Tucked away in a private corner of our smallholding, this truck - once our home - has been lovingly refurbished with recycled and local materials. A cosy, comfy hideaway you won't want to leave. This is proper off grid life, so NO mains power, NO wifi and an OUTSIDE composting toilet, so not for everyone, but a real escape.
The truck has a well equipped kitchen, full size gas cooker and large dining area with plenty of storage, as well as a wood or gas heated shower. The cosy living room has a woodburning stove, and the box bed looks out of a large circular window with views of the fields and mountains beyond. Please note, in winter, the temperature outside can go as low as minus 9 degrees centrigrade. There are LED lights throughout, powered by solar panels - this is true off-grid living. Even the outdoor compost toilet - a few yards from the truck, had a great view. The truck has 12volt sockets for phone charging, but this is a proper off-grid getaway and you won't find wifi or mains electricity. There is also no fridge, but we provide a cool box which can be plugged into the truck, and ice packs can be changed daily.
We're situated in rural County Down, just a few miles from nearby forest parks, the amazing Mourne Mountains, and of course, the sea. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility of our own birch woods, and walk in the gardens. There are also a number of great local walks, one through the Lackan Bog Area of Special Scientific Interest where you will find the highest number of dragonfly species anywhere in Ireland.

  • Great little cottage tucked away in the country. Geraldine was really friendly and helpful and had the stove lit for our arrival with some cookies to indulge in. The photos don’t do the cottage justice.

    James2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Geraldine’s place provides quality accommodation of the highest standard and pristinely clean with stunning views over the countryside from every window and a fabulous secure garden suitable for dog or kids. My border collie loved chasing his ball. Within minutes, you have settled in and are relaxing. Geraldine is so wonderfully welcoming providing helpful tips and local advice. She even left a delicious apple pie! . I would love to return and have already told a friend about it. Thank you.

    Karen2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautifull place to stay for New Years Eve. Stove blazing away and a beautiful Christmas tree greeted us upon arrival. Geraldine was and is a wonderful host and had left us a fresh apple pie and drinks for us to enjoy. The house is fantastic and it's something special to behold. Warm snug, great Wi-Fi and satellite tv too. Peacefull and hilly countryside but with some lovely and lively villages a few kilometres away. Great food in Rostrevor and then the beautifull drives along the coastline and up into the mountains too. We will be back for sure.

    Pat2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Best accodomation ever. And Geraldine was so nice! Beautiful. This is the perfect airbnb, you will feel like you're at home.

    Peter2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • However good the accommodation looks in the pictures, this is one of those rare occasions that everything upon arrival is just so much better. Also, the apple pie upon arrival is spectacularly good :)

    Steve2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful house in a beautiful area. The house had everything you could need, was clean, spacious and stylish. We loved it. There is so much to do in the area if you're outdoorsy- including activities for kids. (The house even had donkeys to pet - which my daughter loved). I would definitely recommend this house.

  • This is the perfect choice if you want to get away from it all for a bit, while still feeling at home. The house is in a very quiet spot with great views of the Mourne mountains, and it's an excellent base for walking and exploring the area - or just relaxing in the sun in front of the house. The room is spacious and has a private bathroom. Chris and Mike were great hosts, making us feel very much at home and supplying us with maps and guidebooks for the area. We shared some lovely moments together and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay here again! Almost forgot to mention: it's also great value for money.

  • This is a spacious, very clean room with a great view. Beautiful and quiet place to catch up on sleep. Apart of this it is a fantastic mountain area to explore: numerous parks, lakes, tracking paths. A seashore with a few picturesque towns is only 15-20 min to drive. We loved our hosts Chris and Mike for their hospitality and help in any aspect. We plan to return and highly recommend as a place to anyone to have a break from busy modern life.

    Denys2019-08-26T00:00:00Z

  • I can only speak in superlatives describing this experience. Chris and Mike were the most wonderful hosts, their house was amazing and the views absolutely stunning! Everything went great and we felt extremely welcome and cared for. The location is isolated, so perfect for people looking for peace and tranquility, but easily accessible by car. I heartily recommend this to anyone!

3 star, self catering accommodation,2 bedroom, sleeps 4. The rathbarn is situated on a small farm, half a mile off the main Newry/Hilltown road (B8) the Mourne inland scenic route in the foothills of the Mourne mountain range. It is 4 miles from Newry, 5 miles to Warrenpoint and 2 miles from the village of Mayobridge. Approximately 1 hour 20 minutes from Dublin airport and 45 to 60 minutes from Belfast airports.
Situated inside an Ancient Rath. This location endeared itself to the first settlers who came to Ireland centuries ago. The area abounds in ancient remains, forts, cashels and raths. Indeed the cottage itself is situated right in the middle of what was once an ancient ring fort with a nearby souterrain, which has never been explored.
A rural setting but with many amenities nearby: Golf is available in nearby Mayobridge and Warrenpoint, Walking/Hiking in the Mournes, swimming pool in Newry, watersports in Warrenpoint, pony trekking in Castlewellan/Mournes area and close to entertainment centers in Newry and Warrenpoint.
  • A sweet home in the middle of a large green area, close to the water. In summer must be a nice place to wake up in and have a breakfast with beautiful sights of the shore. In winter, the home is goof to stay with the family, and the fireplace. To recommend

  • We had a wonderful stay and the owners were very helpful

  • If airb&b had a * rating, this would definitely be a 5. The most fantastic little cottage & even better hosts. Meticulously clean & the decor was cottage perfect. Scenery was amazing. Hot water in abundance & great shower. Fabulously cozy little bolt hole in the Mournes. The best part however....the hosts, Valerie & John were just superb. Extremely friendly & helpful. Fresh baked scones & coffee on arrival & a superb breakfast, which to be honest was a real bonus, as many hosts don’t do this. The best little secret on airb&b, you’ve got to go & experience it for yourself. We WILL be back, maybe not with Storm Dennis though. 😁

This picturesque rural nature retreat is really one of a kind. The property overlooks the mourne mountains and amazing views of Derryleckagh lake. It has fantastic walking trails and is located five minutes from Newry city centre. It is also close to shops, restaurants and the cinema. There is a ten minute drive to the gorgeous coastal town of Warrenpoint, Rostrevor and Carlingford. The forest park caters for mountain bikes, hiking and kids play.
The house is built overlooking a gorgeous lake and mountains of mourne. The exquisite gardens are matured and well maintained with outside seating areas and walks to the lake just a stone throw away . This is a real hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
Rural green nature retreat is the best way to describe this lovely location.

Google maps led us to wrong property.. It should have been the next entrance off the road. There is a rough lane with potholes leading to the cottage.

  • Fantastic hospitality from booking through to the end of our stay. Carmel went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable from getting a festival programme of the event we were coming to Newry to see to getting a shower seat for one of our group who is wheelchair bound. On a note of accessibility the cottage is perfectly suited for manual wheelchair users, large bathroom, room in the bedrooms and level throughout. The accommodation was in a fantastic setting on their farm with a stunning view, very clean and the beds very comfortable. It's the perfect place to stay if visiting the Newry area, 100% recommended without hesitation :)

  • We enjoyed our stay, Holly Cottage was easy to find with the directions we were given, everything worked perfectly and we enjoyed the hospitality of eggs, bread and biscuits, one of the nicest accommodations we have stayed at. Highly recommended

  • This is a very pleasant and cozy space in the beautiful surroundings of a working farm. It's close to Mayobridge town, which has a big playground that our children loved.

  • EXCELLENT COTTAGE IN A LOVELY AREA,VERY PEACEFUL,BUT NEAR TO VILLAGE. THE COTTAGE IS EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN,WELL STOCKED WITH EVERYTHING YOU WOULD NEED,PROPER HOME FROM HOME. CARMEL WAS VERY WELCOMING AND A LOVELY HOST. SHE ORGANISED LIFT FOR US TO A FAMILY WEDDING. THERE WAS A WELCOME PACK WHICH INCLUDED EGGS,MILK,TEA,COFFEE, ORANGE JUICE, SUGAR,BREAD,BUTTER AND AN ASSORTMENT OF CEREALS. WOULD DEFINATELY VISIT AGAIN.

    Gail2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Holly Cottage for my Brother and their friends coming to visit from America. Once booked we received great directions to the location of the cottage and check in details. We received a great welcome from Carmel upon arrival who showed us around the place. The Cottage was perfect for what we were looking a warm Irish Cottage in the countryside. Carmel had some lovely little touches with milk, tea, coffee, already in the cupboards so we could have Tea and Coffee. Other nice touches was the board games which would come in hand on a wet evening. The Location was perfect close to Newry City with smaller towns nearby or everyday shopping and needs also only 90 mins to both Dublin Airport or Belfast International. If we have these visitors back again I would most definitely book Holly Cottage again.

  • Great comfortable home. I was a little hesitant to book this home because of the limited number of reviews. Don't let that dissuade you. Great rural location and the home had everything we needed. Carmel was a great help in getting a bus schedule and telling us where to go to catch it so we didn't have to drive into Belfast. Made for a very relaxing stay.

  • Very nice place and very nice host

    Ali2019-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • A real home from home. Set out well for both young children and people with limited mobility. Having WiFi and Netflix was a bonus which was great in the evenings. Location is rural but only 5mins by car for all amenities. Great base to have while discovering Northern Island. Carmel was a wonderful hostess and would recommend Holly Cottage to anyone who wants to experience real Ireland hospitality.

We're situated in a rural, scenic area of Co Down, 10 minutes drive from Newcastle/Castlewellan and 45 minutes drive to Belfast. The nearby, scenic Mourne mountains are home to many popular tourist attractions, namely Tollymore and Castlewellan forest parks, the world famous Royal County Down golf course and Down Royal racecourse. The new mountain bike trail in the beautiful Kilbroney forest park in Restrevor is also on our doorstep while the famous Silent Valley and Spelga Dam are closeby
This is a large, spacious, two storey farmhouse. We warmly welcome couples, families, solo adventurers and business travellers.
The beautiful and spectacular Mourne Mountains are a 5 min drive from the house - Popular to walkers and hikers. There, the Slieve Donard Mountain stands at over 800 metres high and is N.Ireland's highest point. It's views are breathtaking. At the foot of the mournes we have the equally beautiful Tollymore Forest park where they recently filmed Game Of Thrones.
  • During our short stay (1 night) we slept in a cozy room which had everything we needed. Colm welcomed us and made us tea. The bed was comfortable.

  • It was good to meet and chat to Colm who was welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed the Mourne mountain view and a comfortable night's sleep. The house is clean and had everything I needed. Quiet countryside location close to amenities.

  • Colm is a very hospitable host and immediately made us feel at home in his farmhouse. Our room was very comfortable with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Two climbers were also staying there as the location provides easy access for exploring the Mourne Mountain area.

  • My stay Colm's place was just the peaceful night I needed after attending an Irish wedding! Colm was there to greet me and show me around on arrival. The bed was super comfy and the view from the bedroom window was spectacular. Colm also provided me with some local info on gorgeous local sights. I would highly recommend!

  • Catherine's place is beautiful and she is an incredible host! We were greated by a stunning building and Catherine had lit the fire in the lounge and had both coffee and cake ready when we arrived. The rooms are gorgeous and beds are comfy. Catherine gave us loads of tips for exploring the Mournes and helped us decide the best routes and restaurants to visit. Her breakfast is delicious and all your needs catered to. On New Year's Catherine even invited us to join her at the local pub which was a great experience with an amazing atmosphere. There are lots of walks and places to visit, we recommend having a car to drive to all the sites, but even the local walk to the Lake is beautiful and worth a visit. We would have loved to have more time as there are so many places to visit, so long stays are recommended! We definitely recommend Catherine's place and hope to come back sometime!

    Riverside2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in Catherine`s family house was like a little travel in time, where good manners, sense of noble and the perfect cup of tea with milk and home-made lemon pie makes you feel really blessed and royal. House is exceptionally clean and calm, breakfast cooked by Catherine personally and her tips for outdoor activities in Northen Ireland was very useful. Great host, great place.

    Olga2018-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Less than 20 minutes drive from the stunning scenery where 'Game of Thrones' was filmed this lovely old farmhouse retains all the charm of a turn of the century 'Gentleman Farmer's' home. We were welcomed with tea and cake in the 'drawing room' and breakfasted in a dining room which could easily be a set for an Agatha Christie film. While the lovely plaster work, panelled walls and period furniture speak of another age the power shower and internet access bring the modern conveniences we come to expect. Breakfast was great with a range of fresh fruit and berries, granola and a choice of cooked dishes including smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. As a host Catherine was charming and we really enjoyed our chats about life, the universe and everything.

    David2018-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Myself & my son stay one night at Catherine's place. What a wonderful house in a great location total undiscovered so much to see & do. Very easy to access just of the main motorway. Some great walks nearby. The house is amazing, beautiful decor lovely features everywhere. Our bedroom with own private bathroom was large and tasteful decorated. With the best shower ever... Catherine will give great welcome & make you feel right at home. Would highly recommend Catherine's home.

  • Very easy check in and good communication. Stunning peaceful location and the cottage is just beautiful. Very family friendly with lovely enclosed garden and plenty of space for parking.

    Gemma2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Meta's cottage is beautiful. It was spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. The kitchen was well equipped (but we didn't get to do any cooking). Bed was comfortable. Shower, heating and WIFI worked great. There were instructions for everything in the house and also flyers with information of what to do in the area. We stayed there for two nights while hiking around Mourne Mountains. We didn't get to meet the host in person, but communication was prompt. I'd highly recommend Meta's cottage if planning some time in the Mourne Mountains or if you fancy some quiet time in the countryside.

    Neida2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Meta's cottage exceeded our expectations! Everything was perfect and our kids and us enjoyed every minute in this place. The location is just beautiful, you are sourrounded by green fields with a view to the Mourne Mountains, yet you are not far out. You have your own well kept little garden where our kids loved to play. The cottage was sparkling clean, nice new countrystyle furniture, very well equipped. We got welcomed with a basket of crisps and cookies and a ready to go fireplace. There was enough wood available for our stay. Communication with Meta was easy and fast! Can highly recommend Meta's cottage, we would be happy to come back!

    Katharina2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • If you like the pictures of Meta's cottage, you will like the real thing even more. We arrived quite late, it was already pitch dark, but from the moment we crossed the doorstep we immediately loved the place. With many thoughtful touches, like the fireplace ready to go, through small welcome snacks, through everything else that you might need for a stay. Meta also left information regarding anything you might need to know about the house, and with the initial message exchange regarding check-in, we didn't really need anything else. The area is really quiet, and it's absolutely stunning especially on a bright cold morning with a nice hot cup of coffee. All in all, if a relaxing getaway is what you are after, you can't go wrong booking Meta's cottage.

    Peter2018-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Meta's cottage is a wonderfull, cozy place in a beautiful surrounding. Very quiet, clean and well equiped. We enjoyed the evenings around the stove. There's enough wood. Meta is very thoughtful in organising the place. We were often surprised to find the things we needed, like cookies at our arrival, extra tissues, a blanket on the sofa, a prepared stove... We didnt meet Meta but she s present by email and phone and she very friendly. I was here with my three daughters. The place is also suitable for four adults. In the surroundings are many things to see and do. We could have stayed longer and i wish to come again one day.

    Cin2018-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Booked this cottage for colleagues who were working nearby and received very good feedback from them. They thought the place was really quirky and beautiful and would indeed recommend it to others.

    Cliona2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, cosy cottage and so peaceful. Beautiful views. We were visiting family so didn't spend as much time as we could have done to really appreciate the area and comfort of the cottage. Well equipped and welcoming. Meta's communication was always prompt and helpful. Thoroughly recommend.

We built a house in our garden for family and friends whenever they visit. Any time it’s not been used by them we make it available for holiday let’s. The house is newly built and is situated at the end of an cul-de-sac in a typical neighbourhood in Northern Ireland. Hilltown is a lovely village in an area of outstanding beauty at the gateway to the Mourne mountains. It’s a ideal place to relax after a long day being a tourist. We are 8 miles from Newry
The house is new. By the end of spring our lawn should be fully grown. There’s a gate for extra safety at the side. We have high chairs and cribs for younger guests and can child proof the house There’s are four bedrooms available. We rent a minimum of two. We prefer guests smoke outside or if it’s raining in the garage. The house has ample parking, a small garden and patio at the back and garage for extra storage.
Hilltown is a lovely village surrounded by beautiful views of the Mourne mountains. There are lovely walks around the village We have good fishing near by, horse riding and the local GAA grounds. There is two restaurants and a coffee shop, lively bars, small grocery shops one with a post office. When you travel out of Hilltown any direction you will see amazing views of the area. There is a breathtaking drive to the Slient Valley and Newcastle through the mountains. There is a nice drive into Rostrevor and Warrenpoint overlooking Carlingford Lough. We are 8 miles from Newry and Slieve Gullion mountain range
  • Sean and Christina's house is amazing. Very stylish and perfect layout for a big group. The insulation is so well done that even with the heating off the house still stays warm. Christina and Sean left so many things for us, including food, that we really felt like at home. Perfect location to reach the Mournes. Really really really recommended.

  • Jill and Robert’s home was one of the best Air BnB stays myself and my family have had! Location was absolutely stunning, lots to do and the home was well equipped with everything we could ever need. The home was warm, very clean and beautiful to stay in. Jill was an amazing host and provided such warm and kind hospitality. I cannot recommend this home enough...go to Rathfriland!!

    Allison2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Jills wonderful home. The home is tucked away in a lovely quiet part of the countryside yet access to lots of neighbouring villages with good places to eat is very convenient! The house itself definitely has the “wow” factor, classically styled, warm and welcoming. Jill had a little welcome basket for us which is a lovely added extra! Our young family enjoyed all the space on offer including a large garden with plenty of toys around the home to entertain them. When we arrived Jill met us and had the fire set ready to go. A must stay in the area! We will be back!

    Maria2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful house, we had very comfortable stay during a cold winters weekend. The house is very much as described in the pictures, if not more lovely. Great space and spotlessly clean with everything we needed for a lovely weekend getaway.

    Susan2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jill and Robert's house is an amazing place to stay! Warm and welcoming and 5 star in every way! It is a great size but feels warm and homely! All the extra little touches make it even more special. The house is also very stylish..like a small boutique hotel...you will not be disappointed!

    Kerry2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Second stay in Cavan House and as per previous review just prior to this, it was great. Zero complaints and we stayed for quite some time where normally you start to notice things in an old house, but that wasn't the case here. Lovely, quiet, warm, cozy home - and massive plus points with the aga, bbq that can be used year round, open fire with plenty of fuel provided, great local supermarket, and beautiful grounds. V relaxing! Thanks again for everything Jill and Robert

    Ronan2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • The house is perfect for family or friends gathering. Very homely.

    Janice2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jill is the best host! Love this place - great space, with absolutely everything you could need or wish for. For longer stays basically having 2 kitchens with an Aga in one and a separate cooker / oven in the other is great. Lots of space, beautifully manicured gardens, and Jill is just so easy to get along with and a great communicator with regard to any issues or questions at all. The house itself has great character, and the location for access to so many different areas around the Mourne Mts is perfect. Highly recommend!

    Ronan2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Cavan House was everything we’d hoped it to be & more! The home is well appointed & has the amenities of a modern home with the quaintness of a historic one. It was perfect sized for dinner our group of 8 & being centrally located Belfast & Dublin was a great home base for our adventures.

  • Gerry was a fantastic host who met us upon arrival and showed us everything about the accommodation and then we talked about areas for hiking and climbing. He was very helpful to us and even apologized for the rain!! Overall a great stay in a lovely location, right on the edge of The Mournes with the occasional sunset to make it even better.

  • This is a great wee spot, equipped with everything you might need. Everything was really clean, all the amenities worked, and the neighbourhood was really quiet. Amazing scenery too!

  • Stunning large house in a quiet neighbourhood. I fell in love with cats and dogs! Huge shower and a bath and large TV too, amazing place would highly recommend.

  • Me, my husband, and our little Jack Russell had a lovely time at El’s. This is definitely a pet lovers dream AirBnb. Mimi & Rolo, the two dogs, are a couple of characters, and Levi the cat was so sweet and friendly. We had a ball interacting with them. Lovely house - loved the telly in the kitchen! Would recommend if you are an animal lover or are bringing your dog/cat with you. The village was a 10 minute walk from the house and the pub and restaurant both had great atmosphere.

    Jana2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spot and greeted by some very friendly furry friends. Great price for a good, central location. El was very helpful and quick to respond with any questions or clarifications. Would definitely visit again!

    Brynn2018-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at El's. Rolo and Mimi, the dogs and the boss cat Levi made the place feel like home (option to not have the pets at home is possible, but we loved their company). The house was spacious, clean and welcoming and El was quick to respond to any queries. The area is stunning and a place we are keen to return to one day... Would strongly recommend a visit!

  • Fantastic house for a bigger group. Very beautiful location- would recommend over and over, thank you Patrick.

  • Exquisite house in a stunning location. We used this as a base for a reunion for a group of 10 adults and 3 under 2s and it was perfect. The hot tub and heated floors were a cosy touch which we really appreciated after a long walk. The dining table was a bit cramped if we all wanted to eat together but otherwise space wasn't an issue.

    Lisa2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with a group of friends after a wedding nearby. A stunning house, highly finished with everything you need for a stay. Wish we had booked it for longer! Close to Newcastle and castlewellan for beautiful walks and tasty food! Would highly recommend.

  • Beautiful house. We loved the hot tub!

    Kirsty2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing. We were in Ireland for a week and this was the last place we stayed. It blew the others away. We didnt want to leave. Very clean. The heated floors came in handy as the weather was a bit cold. The hot tub was an added bonus. Amazing home. Will definately recommend it to everyone who visits the area.

    Jonathan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ivan and Stephanie’s home does not disappoint!! I booked the house a few months ago for a weekend getaway with some friends and I thought it looked amazing but arriving there, it totally surpassed my expectations. The house is so lovely and spotless, the rooms were so comfortable and even though it was so stormy outside, the house was nice and toasty. I would 100% recommend staying here and I’m looking forward to booking again in the summer so we can enjoy the hot tub without the gale force winds!

    Tolayo2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic house with everything as you’d expect. Modern, clean, space, clean towels, even a welcome basket. The hot tub wasn’t heating as much as expected but we were given access to the adjoining property in advance to use which was fine. A great stay with only positives to report.

    Gareth2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
