Places to stay in Randwick
This is a beautiful space with stunning views over the fields towards stroud. It is very simply decorated inside with lovely oak beams and staircase. There is also a wood burning stove for extra warmth in the winter months. From the outside it almost looks like a swiss chalet, and upstairs on the mezzanine floor you will find traditional Japanese Tatami mats and futon beds. There are currently no kitchen facilities apart from a kettle, fridge and microwave.
The Annexe is clad in beautiful Larch wood which gives it a lovely warm glowing look, the floor, doors and stairs are all warm wood too. The Tatami mats and Futon beds are genuine traditional Japanese pieces.
The surrounding area is great for walking and cycling, not far from the town of stroud too which has an award winning farmers market every Saturday which has amazing local produce. Stroud is nestled in the 5 valleys in the heart of the Cotswolds with beautiful countryside all round.
  • Such a lovely space! Beautifully decorated and very cozy. If you don't like a thinner, more firm mattress you may want to steer clear; personally I liked the traditional tatami mats.

  • A beautiful, peaceful space. It was a shame to only spend one night here but we had a great time. Love the Japanese theme!

The Five Valleys converge on Stroud and contain some of the most beautiful countryside Britain has to offer. Butterrow Gate is also well placed for exploring further afield, with the spa towns of Bath and Cheltenham both within easy reach. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
The green front door opens into an entrance hall which houses the washing machine/tumble dryer, and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Living/dining room: Laid with beautiful flagstone flooring, this uniquely shaped room features original Cotswold stone walls, pretty stone mullion windows and a cosy wood burning stove. Tastefully decorated, this room contains a sofa, a footstool and an armchair, along with a Freesat TV with DVD player and a small dining table with drop down leaves which comfortably seats two; Kitchen: This compact yet well-equipped space contains an electric oven with four ring-induction hob, a dishwasher, Morphy Richards coffee machine, a fridge with a small freezer compartment, a kettle and toaster; Family bathroom: Located off the entrance hall, this room contains a walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin. There is a pretty wrought iron double bed and two occasional chairs, as well an ornamental stone fireplace and a double wardrobe. The stable door from the bedroom opens onto the outside patio area decorated with pretty pots and featuring the walk-on glass area directly above the kitchen. Three steps lead up to a larger patio area with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the market town of Stroud. This private, sunny space has an outdoor table, two chairs and a wooden bench, perfect for relaxing on warm summer days. Encircled by five sweeping valleys opening out to the River Severn and made famous by Laurie Lee's novel "Cider with Rosie", the scenery is dramatic around Stroud. The town and its surrounding villages provide a great base from which to explore the undiscovered south Cotswolds, as well as for day trips to Bristol and Bath. London is just a 90 minute direct train away. At a time when the prevalence of chain stores has turned many of Britain's High Streets into copies of each other, Stroud is a welcome relief. With a bohemian vibe and an enviable array of independent shops, Stroud offers a unique shopping experience unrivalled by any town or city in the locality. Brimming with character and standing amidst the dramatic backdrop of the Five Valleys, Stroud has an eclectic mix of shops in the most beautiful of settings. The award-winning Farmers' Market is held each Saturday and is one of the best in the country, described by Jasper Conran as "the Covent Garden of the Cotswolds". Throughout the summer months, street performers will entertain you every Saturday morning and there is a full programme of music and theatre throughout the year – a true hub of cultural events. Stroud is a place that repays investigation, especially for the quality and variety of artists at work in the area – you could also choose to take part in one of the many traditional workshops! Food & Drink Stroud has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: JRooL Bistro (www.jrool.co.uk): JRooL Bistro is a fine example of the sum of its parts being greater than the whole. The team has a passion for food and wine, such that the end result is an experience of food, wine and service that is, simply, award winning. The flexibility of the dining room encourages leisurely family lunches, business dining, appetisers and drinks at the bar, pre-theatre dinners or a full gastronomic experience; No 23 Bar & Bistro: No 23 is a popular, independent Stroud Bar, Café and Restaurant, specialising in tapas and Mediterranean fare. The fully stocked bar serves choice wines, beers and aperitifs to complement the extensive menu; Sorrento Italian Restaurant (www.sorrentostroud.co.uk): The menu offers superb presentations of traditional favourites, such as pizzas, pasta, succulent steaks, chicken and fish dishes, all served in a relaxing, friendly environment. Stroud also has a wide range of food retailers, including an award winning Farmers' Market, held every Saturday.
  • Full of character, had everything we needed.

    Jessica2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great, special and quirky space. Amenities were great and the place was sparkling clean, would definitely recommend and stay again. I imagine it would be spectacular in the summer. Jut watch out for stepping right onto quite a busy road where traffic comes roaring past. Parking was also tricky.

    Lou2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Property was lovely and perfect for a few days away. Tip: don't park opposite the property as you will get a note from one of the neighbours, also take your own milk as this isn't provided. Great stay and great location.

    Joanne2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated, great homely feel and everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

    Anna2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at the cottage and it’s more beautiful in real life with an amazing view. Would definitely recommend and return. Not much off street parking but we didn’t mind parking down the hill and walking up. Worth a visit for sure!

    Eleanor2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful winter break at Butterrow gate. The property is gorgeous, very quirky and has everything you need. It is also clean and well presented. The location is great for exploring Stroud and other local villages. The tips provided by the host were perfect. We loved the farmer’s market, the antiques mill and local walks. It is worth noting that the property is on a busy road and you may be kept awake by traffic if you are a light sleeper. We slept like logs from all of the walking! Xx

    Lucy2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed at the cottage for a week while exploring the Cotswolds. It was such a lovely place to stay. It is exactly as it looks in the pictures small and super cozy and wonderful. We had a really good time. The place was in a good location if you had a car to explore all the surrounding towns. Without a car the cottage it a little but above the town and therefore is a bit less accessible. Contact with character cottages was easy, check in and out was no issue. The only negative feedback is that the place was a little low on essentials. When we arrived there wasn’t any coffee for the coffee machine and there were no other supplies for cooking other than olive oil. However the kitchen is very sweet and easy to use for home cooked meals. We also weren’t informed beforehand that the washer and dryer machine didn’t work and didn’t find this out till arriving, I thought this would have been great to be told earlier in order to organise our washing. Otherwise the place was the picture perfect cottage and we would definitely stay there again. I would definitely recommend a visit for anyone considering it.

Sunny, double room in a tall Victorian end of terrace. Perfect for those who want a cosy base right in the centre of Stroud. Breakfast is 'help yourself'. In a big busy, friendly, family, cosy home, with kids, 2 lodgers, cats and fish. Warm welcome assured
Small sunny double bedroom This room on the 3rd floor contains a 4ft 6" double bed, bedside shelves, a hanging rail, a corner desk with lamp and a stool. There is an eco radiator or fan depending on time of year. The shared bathroom is a half landing away with a bath, electric shower, loo and sink. There's another loo next door to the bathroom too. A breakfast of tea/coffee, cereal, toast and fruit juice is included in the price if you stay less than a week (you help yourself). If you're here longer then please provide your own food (our generous discount reflects this). You are welcome to use the kitchen for cooking. We have WIFI which you are welcome to use. The house is a large family and shared 'end of terrace Victorian' home. Its a mixture of classic, contemporary and growing children style. We have 3 cats, lots of fish, several children/young adults and lodgers. The house is by no means 'perfect' - guests can expect a clean and tidy room, with the rest of the house cleaned professionally weekly and kitchen/bathrooms attended to more often. We pride ourselves on a warm relaxed atmosphere for both family and guests which doesn't equate to minimalist immaculate surroundings. Please note there are lots of stairs, so the kitchen is in the basement and the bedroom is 3 floors above.. We're right in central Stroud, minutes from the station and all the shops and restaurants. Parking is available behind the house or on street in front of the house (visitors permit needed except in the evenings and on Sundays). We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
Stroud is an 'alternative' town with interesting shops and cafes, alongside some of the usual high street shops. The countryside round about is particularly lovely and there are many walks that can be done from the house. We're ideally placed for the award winning Saturday farmers market, Stroud Subscription Rooms, Centre of Arts and Science and Lansdown Hall (all within 3-7 minutes walk).
  • Really lovely room and Natasha was really welcoming.

  • Nice and clean room, and Natasha is a super host. Highly recommended...

    Florian2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Natasha's house has a lovely lived-in feeling and is full of character and I loved looking at all her artwork on the walls. While there were several people in the house (as well as cats, fish and the newest addition to the family, a cute labradoodle puppy!), it is big enough for you to find a quiet space when you want it. The bedroom while small was adequate for my needs and the comfortable bed gave me a good night's sleep. The location of her house is great, only a minute's walk to the town centre on a fairly quiet road. Stroud is lovely with lots of quirky and creative shops to browse and lots of friendly people to help you on your way - a great community spirit!

Great getaway cabin on the side of a beautiful valley overlooking the Gloucestershire countryside. A perfect base for enjoying hill walks, exploring the Cotswolds or taking a relaxing break . It is 5 minutes walk to the local pub, 30 minutes walk to the market town of Stroud or 30 minutes drive to the popular Spa town of Cheltenham. It is situated next to one of the most beautiful woods around Stroud, renowned for its wildlife, the 'Bluebell experience' and its part in 'The Cotswold Way'.
There is access to a barbecue and hot tub. The cabin is in the garden of our family home and in close proximity of the main property. Continental breakfast included.
This Cabin is located in Randwick. Randwick, is a village bordering the market town of Stroud in Gloucestershire. It is known locally for its folk traditions such as the Randwick Wap, a celebration of May Day, and its annual pantomime. Randwick is well situated and is a great base from which to explore the Cotswolds. It is also a short (30 minute drive) from Randwick to Cheltenham. Cheltenham is a large spa town on the edge of the Cotswolds in the county of Gloucestershire. Cheltenham became known as a health and holiday spa town resort following the discovery of mineral springs in 1716. The town hosts several festivals of culture, often featuring nationally and internationally famous contributors and attendees, including the Cheltenham Literature Festival, the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, the Cheltenham Science Festival, the Cheltenham Music Festival, the Cheltenham Cricket Festival, and the Cheltenham Food & Drink Festival. In steeplechase horse racing, the Gold Cup is the main event of the Cheltenham Festival, held every March.
  • A delightful weekend retreat with a gorgeous view of what the Cotswold has to offer. As we arrived at the Cotswold Cabin, we were warmly greeted by the hosts, Jo and Charlie who very kindly showed us around the cabin. My first impression walking in is how peaceful and cozy it was. Decorated with comfortable furnishings with small references to their adorable furry friend, Blue the dog. A sure bonus for all the dog lovers. The double bed faces the breath-taking view of the valleys of Stroud. Waking up to such scenery is sure to relieve all the stresses in life. I highly recommend sitting on the porch for morning breakfast, a great way to kickstart the day. For all the strong coffee lovers, the Cabin had all the essential amenities for that vital morning coffee such as Kettle, China and coffee machine. A mini fridge is also included with light beverages. The en-suite includes an efficient power shower with hooks behind the door for clothes and towels. A small amenities rack is located next to the sink, in which you can conveniently place all your skincare essentials. Just like the french saying, 'La vie est faite de petits bonheurs' - Life is full of little pleasures. End the day with a dip in the hottub and admire the sunset gradually fade into darkness. Overall, a refreshing stay at the Cotsworld Cabin. It was a pleasure to meet Jo, a fabulous host with the warmest smile. She surely made us feel at home. Highly recommend for all those who are looking for a break away from the city.

Welcome to Little Culver, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Little Culver is a stunning and unique Cotswold stone property, built in 1821. The cottage forms the right hand half of a beautiful castellated Grade II listed building, Culver Cottage. Minchinhampton is a very attractive, thriving hilltop town, situated on a tongue of high land between the Golden Valley and the Nailsworth Valley, 1.5 miles north east of Nailsworth. The town also sits on the eastern fringes of Minchinhampton Common, high above the valleys that were once prosperous with the production of cloth. The centre of Minchinhampton is a picture-postcard image of what people expect of a small Cotswold town, with a selection of nice shops and places to eat. The town is centred on its High Street and old Market Square, the main feature of which is the late 17th century Market House, supported on stone columns. The interesting Holy Trinity Church dates from the 12th century and has a truncated spire looking over the Market Square. The church was given to Caen's Abbaye aux Dames by William the Conqueror and then in 1415 passed to Syon Abbey, in whose hands it remained until the Dissolution. Minchinhampton Common is a large area of open grassland with spectacular views over the Stroud and Nailsworth valleys. The area is owned by National Trust and is an important archaeological landscape, with prehistoric field systems, burial mounds and the remains of a defensive earthwork, known as The Bulwarks. In the summer the Commons are grazed by local commoners' cattle. The area covers 635 acres and is renowned for its colourful array of wild flowers and butterflies. Food & Drink For a small market town, Minchinhampton is fortunate to be blessed with a number of good places to eat and drink: The Crown Inn (https://www.thecrown-minchinhampton.com/): Roaring fires, a restaurant serving up locally inspired flavours, and a cellar stocked full of craft ales, fine wines, and fizz - when it comes to Cotswold country pubs, The Crown Inn is the perfect place to meet, eat, and make great memories. The Ragged Cot (www.theraggedcot.co.uk): Perched high on the Cotswolds outside the ancient market town of Minchinhampton sits the Ragged Cot, a country inn getaway created for serious pleasure seekers. Born of a 17th century coaching house inn set beside six hundred acres of National Trust common land the Ragged Cot is a pretty special place with an intriguing history of highwaymen and pilferage. The proprietors of the Ragged Cot take pride in their professional approach to food and service, with the seasonal menu offering great British food sourced from local farmers and even their own vegetable garden. With dishes such as seared ox tongue with pickled red cabbage, pheasant with braised leeks and artichoke puree or just simply ham, eggs with triple cooked chips you will always find a dish to fit; The Kitchen (www.thekitchenminchinhampton.co.uk): Choose a seat by the beautiful bay window and watch for riders trotting by on horseback or perhaps the occasional herd of cows strolling down from the Common. Serving delicious breakfasts, morning and afternoon teas, and lunches, all the locally sourced food is prepared fresh daily; The Old Lodge, Minchinhampton Common (www.food-club.com/old-lodge.htm): The Old Lodge is beautifully located in the centre of Minchinhampton Common. With unrivalled views of the Cotswolds, this 400 year old hunting lodge is the perfect place to escape the rush. Enjoy quality, locally sourced food served in the restaurant, the bar area, one of the smaller dining rooms or al fresco in the spacious garden. The stunning restaurant accommodates parties of up to 85 people seated and has floor to ceiling windows that look directly onto Minchinhampton Common. Minchinhampton also has an excellent butcher's shop and an organic cheese shop: L Taylor & Sons (www.taylorsminchinhampton.com): For nearly a century L Taylor and Sons has been supplying the highest quality meat to discerning customers. The quality of the shop has been recognised with a Cotswold Life Butcher of the year award; Woefuldane Organic Dairy (www.woefuldanedairy.co.uk): All the products are made by hand in the farm dairy in time honoured ways. The unpasteurised cheeses change throughout the seasons as the milk varies depending on what the cows are eating.

  • Had a lovely stay in Little Culver. All was as advertised - plenty of space for 5 people, very comfortable and stylish. Loved the original features of the house. Thoughtful touches like chocolates and biscuits on arrival were appreciated and the key safe made our arrival stress-free as travelling from London. Would definitely stay again if travelling to the Cotswolds.

  • The perfect pad to explore the Cotswolds, set in a cute little village. Loved the treats and the garden was so beautiful to sit in and enjoy the rest of the British summer.

  • A beautiful house In the quiet quintessential English village of Minchinhampton. We rocked up with 5 people and found there to be plenty of room for everyone. The Garden was well kept and a really chilled out place to hangout in the sunshine. No negative comments here! The one thing I would say is to bring cash with you because many of the local establishments don’t take cards.

  • Lovely house near Stroud and the beautiful  countryside. Easy to find. Clean, spotless, neat and quiet!!!!  Heating system and hot water awesome, a pleasure arriving home after driving around on winter.  Located in a strategic zone to explore the entire Cotswolds. Maximum 1 hour driving to the farthest town of this area.  Bread and milk at arriving and thanks for letting us check in earlier just to arrive home with light. It has all kinds of elements that make it a complete house.  100% recommended. We will come back soon for sure!!!!!!

  • We loved our stay here. It was really cosy with lovely underfloor heating. It had everything we needed for a New Year getaway. We cooked a couple of meals: the oven was good and a double hob and decent-sized kitchen was handy. There’s a pub virtually at the end of the drive, and a corner shop open until 9pm. We can also recommend the Jolly Fryer chippy half a mile away!

  • The Cedars Retreat is a lovely, comfortable and independent apartment for staying in the Cotswolds. Karen is very responsive and has made a very welcoming place to stay. The apartment is clean, has just about everything you’d need and the location is great too. I highly recommend staying here.

  • Cedars retreat was a lovely, peaceful stay for me and my small family whilst on a work course nearby. It’s a lovely hideaway from the main roads whilst still being in a great location to local amenities and walks. We had a lovely comfortable stay and enjoyed the space. It had everything we would need and will definitely recommend to friends and family when in the area.

Private room in Cotswold stone house in quiet cul- de-sac. Double bed, tv, tea and coffee facilities in room. Parking. On the Cotswold Way.
Three storey Cotswold stone house built in 1734. The guests' room is on the first floor and has double bed, TV and tea/coffee making facilities and their private bathroom is on the floor above. So two flights of stairs.
The house is in a quiet cul de sac with views out the front of Selsley Common which is National Trust land where the cows have priority. Walk up to the top and you can see right across the valley to the River Severn and the Forest of Dean beyond. There are plenty of local walks through ancient beechwoods and the Cotswold Way is just a hop, skip and a jump away. The village is a short walk down the hill where there is a pub, coffee shop, hairdressers, post office and corner shop. There is an award-winning pub up the hill which is highly recommended and has great views across the valley. a short walk from the pub on to the common and you can see right across the River Severn and the chance of a good stunning sunset. This place is ideally situated for walkers on the Cotswold Way or for holiday makers touring the Cotswolds.
  • Gill's house is very cozy, warm and clean, and makes you feel at home. Tea, coffee and an electric kettle are provided in the room, and you can also nibble some biscuits when you feel peckish. You will be impressed with her hospitality. I think very friendly and beautiful dog would heal the fatigue of visitors. You will be absorbed in taking pictures of the wonderful scenery around the house. I would revisit during the warm months! *Sometimes, Google map doesn't show the correct place so before visiting, I recommend asking her about the correct place.

  • Situated beautifully near the cotswold paths Gill’s home is a wonderful example of a traditional country stone cottage. Gill was the perfect host, and Lottie made for an affectionate four-legged co-host. Nothing was too much for Gill and she had some great recommendations for the area. I felt welcomed, looked after and at home. And the best bit; I slept like a log! (which I find hard to do away from my own bed!) The room was clean, well-presented and had plentiful amenities for my stay. The private bathroom was stunning with both shower and bath, and was a sheer luxury to have during my stay. I would thoroughly recommend Gill’s home and will definitely stay again when I’m in the area! Thank you Gill!

    Robert2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely room and bathroom in a peaceful location. Gill is a superb host and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

    Beth2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were fascinated to learn that Gill's home was a pub years ago. It is a beautiful building, very characteristic of the area, and quite a privilege to stay in it. Gill is very welcoming, and we enjoyed our stay there. Lottie the dog is very friendly too!

    Deborah2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a charming cottage and so spacious, too! Very well appointed. Cosy and comfortable . Gill is the perfect host. I wanted for nothing. Would definitely recommend and return.

    Susan2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Only a few steps from Cotswold Way (although don't trust Google maps! It will take past and up the hill) A really comfortable bedroom, lots of room and a welcoming bathroom with bath. Sunday means nowhere to eat so bring provisions. Breakfast was great, and Gill kindly set everything out for me so I could make an early start. An old house with character, I loved it.

    Eliza2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely room in a lovely house with one of the most welcoming hosts we've encountered. Gill was fantastic and the room was exactly as described with everything we needed for a comfortable stay whilst visiting family. Would highly recommend to anyone needing to stay in the area!

    James2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Gill is a wonderful host - we spent a great weekend in her lovely home in the heart of the cotswolds, and meeting Lottie (the bestest of doggos) was an added bonus! Recommended :)

Welcome to Grange Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Grange Cottage is a stunning Cotswold stone cottage, which enjoys an idyllic rural location, with spectacular views across a valley to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard. The cottage is on the edge of the village of Amberley, which although small, has two well regarded pubs. Amberley backs onto the National Trust common land of Minchinhampton Common, a unique 600 acre open space with far reaching views, which offers walking, kite flying and an 18-hole golf course. The larger towns of Nailsworth and Stroud are close by, offering a vibrant selection of restaurants, shops and award-winning farmers markets. Grange Cottage is an ideal base for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling, as well as for exploring the wider Cotswolds region and further afield places, such as Bath, Oxford and even day trips into London. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Grange Cottage is a large semi-detached Cotswold stone cottage, which sits on a steep slope at the top of a rural lane, and benefits from stunning views. The front door opens into the conservatory, which leads through to a well laid out ground floor area: Conservatory: This room enjoys lovely views over the garden to Woodchester and beyond, and has two wicker chairs; Living room: From the conservatory, a step leads into the characterful living room, which has an exposed Cotswold stone fireplace with a wood burning stove, oak beams, and alcove shelving with a selection of local books. There are two two-seater sofas, a small arm chair and a window seat that looks out over the valley. There is also a SMART TV with a DVD player; Reading room: The living room adjoins this pretty room, which has French doors opening out to the garden. There is a small writing bureau, two chairs and a hamper of games; Kitchen/dining room: Steps lead up from the living room to the kitchen, a spacious room with a wooden dining table and seating for six. The well-equipped kitchen has a double electric oven, a six-ring gas hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and a hand blender; Utility room: A convenient space for boots and coats, which contains a washing machine/tumble dryer and a freezer; Cloakroom: Contains a toilet and a wash basin. Stairs lead up from the living room to the first-floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: A lovely eaves room, with high ceilings and exposed oak beams, which contains a king size bed and fitted wardrobe, and has nice views of the woodland behind the cottage; Bedroom 2; This bright room enjoys a sunny aspect, with views across to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard, and contains a large single bed; Bedroom 3: Contains a day bed, which is made up as a single bed. The window seat is perfect for watching the sun set; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with an overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. Steep spiral stairs, without a handrail, lead up from the first floor landing to: Bedroom 4: Another lovely eaves rooms, with exposed beams and panoramic views over the Woodchester Valley Vineyard and beyond. There is a double bed, fitted wardrobes and a free-standing flatscreen TV. The door to this bedroom is at the bottom of the stairs and it is not possible to put a stair gate at the top of the stairs, so this room may not be suitable for young children. The main garden area is at the front of the cottage, enclosed by Cotswold stone walls, and is mostly laid to lawn, with traditionally planted cottage garden borders and a variety of mature shrubs and trees. There is a patio area outside the conservatory, with an outdoor table and seating for six, which provides spectacular views across the valley to Woodchester and benefits from glorious sunsets. A lockable shed is available upon request to store bikes and other outdoor equipment. Steps from the back door lead up to a gravelled parking area, with space for two cars.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • The cottage was very comfortable and cosy with everything we needed for a lovely weekend break.

    Fiona2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous cottage with lots of character and stunning views. We had a lovely cosy weekend with fires (make sure you pick up enough kindling from the local supermarket) and walks through the woods (wellies necessary!) to the pub, finished off with brunch in the well set up kitchen. Be prepared to climb a very steep hill if your car can’t make it up!

    Laura2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Grange Cottage is very comfortable, warm and cosy. It is a classic Cotswolds cottage with great views over the valley opposite. The location, while up a very steep hill, was excellent - - a short walk through the wood to the fantastic Amberley Inn - - and no issue with access with our car. The log burner was a welcome addition on the cold evenings we spent there.

    David2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in your fabulous cottage. It was a beautiful warm, cosy and very clean property with views to die for! I cannot thank you enough for sending back our Google Chromecast so quickly after we left it behind in the property, it arrived in the post today. That is what I call a first class service! Funny thing was that we didn’t even need it as Netflix was already provided. I would like to highly recommend Character Cottages for anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway.

    Sachin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage had everything you could ask for - 4 beautiful bedrooms with lovely clean bed linen and comfortable beds. Fantastic views and a cosy log fire with idyllic walks around the area. It was very quiet and peaceful and just what we needed as four mums trying to get some relaxation time away from hectic lives and young children. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you!

    Caroline2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house located on a serene hill. Quaint details were added throughout the house which made the experience all the more wonderful. The place was super clean! The only downside is that it is located on a very steep hill & a bit too narrow & difficult to drive up. It was a very good stay regardless :)

    Maznan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Fantastic views. Cottage up a steep hill. Pleasant walks from the cottage. Low ceilings but that's to be expected when you consider when it was built.

    Mark2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant cottage, all as described! Even though it rained quite literally the ENTIRE stay, we didn’t really notice because the house was so nice and had everything we needed! Thank you!

Great views, walks and cycle rides in nearby AONB fields & woods, the 'Cotswold Way' long distance path, old Randwick village, Stroud town & the River Severn. This newly-built annex is light, warm, has high ceilings, comfortable bed and a very adequate kitchen for self-catering. Good for singles or couples, we could also accommodate a child or dog.
Built-up area below the annex, AONB above, in the form of fields & woods. Be prepared for some slopes & small hills if you walk in these areas. Premier stores half a mile away, Co-op supermarket a mile. Vine Tree pub is near at hand & does decent food.
  • Great spot and perfect little place to stay with great host.

  • Lovely location and lovely annex to stay in. Vernon was very welcoming and showed us a local dog walk when we arrived. Perfect for our springer to stretch his legs after a few hours in the car. The annex is fully equipped with everything we needed for a peaceful few days away.

    Jenny2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice place, Vernon was very fast at communicating and very helpful with timings. The house was clean and perfect for a couple with dogs. It is a really scenic place and the snowdrops only the room were a really nice touch.

    Henry2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great value for money, everything you need as a bolt hole. Lovely views. Pub 2 min walk up the road, not far out of Stroud, but roads a windy and can be a bit tight. Only thing to note that there are about 8 steps down to the Annex. I was recovering from an Op, vernon and his wife Betsy kindly helped me with my belongings. Vernon even brought some fresh eggs from their chickens which are just in front of the Annex.

    Amanda2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Rapid response to enquiries, warm and helpful welcome. Plenty of advice on local walks/pubs/lots of local guidance. The Annex is a separate independent building with all that you would need for a few days quiet break. There is an excellent pub a few minutes walk away with good food ,beer and welcoming owner.

Your accommodation is a single storey extension, to the side of my home, which I have completely modernised and refurbished. You have your own entrance via the back garden and the guest area is locked off from the rest of the house, to ensure guests' privacy. Self service breakfast of cereals and milk available plus tea and coffee facilities in your kitchenette. Own fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee maker and toaster, washing machine. Shared garden and patio with table and chairs.
This little guest suite consists of a double bedroom with double bed (mattress is memory foam, medium firm), laptop desk and clothes hanging rail and drawers. You also have your own kitchenette containing fridge with ice box, microwave, kettle, toaster, cafetiere and crockery etc. There is also a washing machine you are welcome to use. Finally, you have your own newly fitted shower room with large shower, basin and toilet. Please note: I have made the additional guest option available at a surcharge of £10/night. Please note that the kitchenette only has a small breakfast bar and stool to seat one person. The accomodation is therefore only really suitable for two people if you just want a place to sleep.
We live in a quiet, residential area surrounded by a wealth of footpaths which lead you through fields with wonderful views. You can walk into Stroud via various shortcuts, or up the hill into the village of Whiteshill where you will find a lovely pub called The Star and also a village shop (commuity run). Stroud itself is famous for it's Saturday morning farmers market and it's arty, crafty vibe with plenty happening in the local area and a good selection of restaurants, pubs and cafes. The Cotswold Way is, of course, also on the doorstep.
  • Stylish accommodation with everything you need to spend a few days. Everything very new and in a good location. Very clean and with a comfortable bed. Totally recommendable.

The area surrounding the cottage is quiet and very beautiful. I would encourage anyone looking for a break to stay here as there is much to do and see.

  • Marion is a super host. This was my second stay and I'm looking forward to arriving for my third stay this very evening. Gorgeous place, fantastic views from the little living room window. A lovely comfy bed and a hot shower awaits. I also got to enjoy some of Marion's home grown fruit and veggies...lovely.

    Tania2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Marion's home is ideally located with great views of the rolling hills of Cotswolds. The home is very comfortable and quaint, all well-equipped and clean. We really enjoyed lounging in the living room space upstairs where we had a window overlooking the valley and cottages. There are many charming towns and pubs locally which are easily accessible by car. Marion was a fabulous host and generously offered to drive us to a few spots - the public transport around most of the Cotswolds is quite limited so best to bring your own car. Otherwise, there is plenty to see in the area and we will be back at Marion's again for another wonderful airbnb experience. Thanks Marion!!

The house is close to bus routes to Gloucester, Stroud and the Cotswolds. It is also within a five minute walk of a local 'One Stop' shop (open 7-11), and a mile from two large supermarkets. Restaurants and pubs are within walking distance.
The room is a compact double bedroom - recently re-decorated - on the first floor of a detached family house. It provides a wardrobe and drawers, bedside tables with lamps. The new private bathroom at the end of the landing includes a bath as well as a separate electric shower. Towels, bedding, soap and shampoo are provided. The house is centrally heated and double glazed, so warm in winter. An electric fan is available in hot weather. A 'help yourself' breakfast is provided in the kitchen/open-plan dining room, including cereal and toast. Tea, coffee and water are available in the kitchen at all times. Guests are welcome to eat ready prepared/take away meals in the dining room, including using the microwave if required. Free Wi-Fi is available, along with driveway parking on request.
The house is in a quiet residential area. The Gloucester-Sharpness canal is 15 minutes walk away, next to the nearest pub. We are close to bus routes, with regular bus services to Gloucester (or a 4.5 mile walk along the canal if you prefer), Stroud and the Cotswolds. A One Stop shop (including post office) is a five minute walk, alongside a fish and chip takeaway. A number of restaurants are within a 15-20 minute walk. Two major supermarkets are one mile away.

This is a newly completed studio in the centre of Ranwick village, few minutes walk off the Cotswold Way. The studio is a cotwold stone sunny 24m2 annex room. With a fold down bed, kitchenette, dining table and ensuite shower room. All furnished to neutral tastes and finished to a high standard. A large terrace faces SouthWest, with sunset views of the National trust woodland. With a seperate entrance and parking. This is a smashing compact yet complete space.
Randwick has a good pub, beautiful walks and is said to be the only south facing village in the cotswolds.
There is a pleasant feel to the village, it can be busy during school drop off and pick up but is otherwise very quiet.
  • Lovely little spot with incredible views - couldn’t fault anything about the place whatsoever

    Callum2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • very relaxing location with lovely views and good local walk nearby. teas and coffee + towels provided. great shower

    Niall2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Storm Dennis couldn't stop our stay being a happy experience. Through the wind and rain we could see some of the Stroud Valleys, and can imagine how amazing the view would be in the height of summer. Communication was excellent, and Perry made sure responses were sent quickly. Lots of opportunities to get out and about locally, with plenty of places to stop for food and drink. Thank you!!!

    Patrick2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Perry's place was easy to find; the lanes were narrow but his instructions were spot on in finding out. There was parking for 1 car. Those with mobility issues should be aware that there are several steps down to the accommodation, but it is well lit and a good handrail. I slept very well in a comfortable bed and very much enjoyed the homemade bread for breakfast. I only spent the night but you could easily be yourself here for a few days to explore the great scenery. The Vine Tree Inn, about a 5 minute walk is recommended.

    Christopher2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The place itself was spotless and homely. It has brilliant views over the fields out the front and the fresh milk, bread, butter, jam, tea, coffee and cereals was a really nice touch. Super comfy bed and nice hot shower, gives you everything you need for a few days away. Perry and his wife were brilliant hosts, we bought pizza hoping to cook it for dinner but I stupidly didn't check if there was an oven in the apartment! Perry offered to cook it for us in his house next door and I met his kids round a homemade fire in the garden while waiting for them to cook. Such a lovely family. Would love to go back one day and explore the Cotswolds some more, highly recommend.

    Scott2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place, stunning views, we had a wonderful time.

    Lucy2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here, in a very private annex next to the main house. We especially enjoyed the fresh bread for breakfast! Very handy for the Cotswold Way.

    Jenny2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place, and great value close to where our friend held their 40th birthday party at Randwick hall. Really welcomed the fast responses to quieries and the fresh bread and milk was a nice surprise and was greatly appreciated. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Quiet, secluded location very close to the centre of Stroud. 5 minutes walk to railway station with links to Cheltenham, Bath, Bristol, London. Many interesting cafes, restaurants and pubs are within easy walking distance in addition to a major supermarket and a local convenience store. Not to be missed is the Saturday Farmers' Market, the first of its kind in Britain and only a few minutes walk away. We enjoy meeting people from all over the world as we ourselves are well travelled.
The double bedroom is on the first floor of our split level, modern detached property and is situated next to the bathroom which is yours to use exclusively. If there are 3 people travelling together ( 3 adults or 2 adults and a child over 5) then we are happy to make a second single room available at an additional cost. This is next to the double room and you would all have use of the same bathroom. There are beautiful views from both rooms along one of Stroud's Five Valleys and across to Rodborough Fort which is situated on the edge of National Trust common land. The bed is suitable for one or two adults. We can also accommodate a baby of up to eighteen months in a travel cot in the same room. Tea and coffee making facilities are in the room. We are a non-smoking household. Breakfast is provided in the form of tea, coffee, orange juice, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, home-made muffins and bread etc. Advance notice of any allergies is required.
As well as being close to the town centre we are also a 5 minute walk from the beautifully restored Cotswold Canals. The towpath gives you access to a variety of unique pubs and cafes.

Hi!, If you stay at Far View I can show you around, take you to the brilliant local pub (3 minute walk) The Prince Albert to see sone live music. Or maybe mountain biking... perhaps come tandem paragliding with me or wild swimming (before the pub not after!) Of course, instead, be relaxed and private, it's up to you. The house has a very large garden, and BBQ with beautiful views across Stroud and the river Severn, so there's a possibility for camping. Town and train 🚂 is a short walk away.
There's the newly refurbished canal (walk down to the stroud brewery for fresh organic local ales and homemade pizza, the river Frome that wind up the Golden valley together, or woodchester lakes, and of course Rodborough common with its fantastic views.

We have direct access to footpaths through a nature reserve behind the house (endangered bush crickets!) up to Amberley village and beautiful Minchinhampton Common with its free ranging cows and ponies, ice cream factory, visiting circus, pubs, golf course, great views and kite flying. Or use the footpath down to the Nailsworth/Stroud cycle path, which in turn leads into the lovely canal tow paths. Great for mountain biking pretty much anywhere; golfing at Minchinhampton; walking & trees at Westonbirt; birds & nature at Slimbridge, horses at Gatcombe & Badminton; culture & shopping at Bath, Cheltenham and Cirencester. Or go large in Bristol! Last, but not least we are within walking distance of the mysterious Woodchester Park; or even up to spooky Hetty Pegler’s Tump....
  • Great little space for a weekend away, in walking distance of Stroud and other villages, and the shower was amazing!

  • Very nice area and room. The wee breakfast they left out was beaut

  • Great place to stay. Lovely little touches in the studio. Excellent location for exploring the local area with good pubs/restaurants in walking distance.

    Laurence2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay here in this cosy, comfortable space. The location is stunning also. The bed was really comfy and we loved the gorgeous chesterfield sofa! I will say that it is worth taking a shower cap if you have long hair and won’t be washing it every time you shower. The shower is an exceptionally powerful monsoon type and it was tough to keep my hair dry! We were out for most of our stay so never met the hosts, but Tom was always on hand via text - I asked to borrow the iron and it was in the room by the time we’d returned from our walk. The breakfast touches were delicious and having a mini fridge was very useful. We had a very pleasant stay and hope to return! Thank you.

  • Lovely and luxurious studio flat.Very cosy, clean and tidy ...I will recommend to anyone as they are indeed super hosts.

    Chukwuemeka2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Not a single negative point to make from our 3 night stay. The accommodation is larger than it looks in the pictures, but remains a cosy hideaway for chilly evenings. It's full of interesting bits n bobs whilst the bathroom is more than adequate inclusive of a powerful shower. Comfy bed, comfy sofa, comfy table and chairs at which to eat your provided breakfast whilst watching the birds at the feeder opposite. The hosts provided tips about the area which we utilised, however there is so much within walking, hiking, or short driving distance we were spoilt for choice. Loved it.

    Marc2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very stylish and spacious studio - the interesting furnishings make it feel particularly comfortable and relaxing. It is in a great location for walks and places of interest. The breakfasts and excellent shower are real treats. Daisy and Tom are very friendly and helpful .

    Kate2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay with Daisy & Tom! I loved the space, the location for walks, the privacy, and a fantastic pub close by! (The Black Horse, Amberley). I certainly hope to return.

  • Caroline and Simon’s place is lovely and comfortable and is in a beautiful location, with some incredible views. Getting there is straight forward thanks to the helpful directions sent before our arrival. When we arrived we were welcomed by Simon and the their two very friendly dogs. Simon also gave us some great suggestions of walks in the local area. Checking in and out is simple and straightforward. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit the Cotswolds.

    Amena2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline and Simon are lovely Hosts. Both myself and my partner were made to feel completely welcome from the beginning of the trip. Really nice touches and very clean space, nice walks nearby and we were recommended the Woolpack where we had a lovely lunch. Thanks again

    Christopher2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful space, really cozy and location was perfect to explore the local area. Lovley pub only 15 mins walk away and perfect place for country walks.

    Eimear2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely detached space above the owner's garage in a quiet, scenic valley. We agree with all the reviews- it was spotlessly clean. We appreciated the thoughtful touches, including breakfast items and some delicious snacks, as well as a basket full of maps and local guides. It was an easy drive to Stroud, Gloucester and many pretty villages. Some great local pubs- we particularly enjoyed meals at the Butcher's Arms; and we also had a fantastic lunch at The Hive in Stow-on-the-Wold. We managed to arrive on the first day of Storm Dennis, and can confirm Caroline and Simon are far enough up the valley to be flood-proof! Despite the storm we had a peaceful stay and were very cosy there.

    Paula2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely loft, clean, quiet and nicely furnished. We felt very cosy and enjoyed all the local walks and visiting The Woolpack. Will definitely stay again!

    Jude2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline's place is exactly what you want for a break from London. Full of walks and country side. The little bits of breakfast stuff Caroline provides is a real life saver and Simon was kind enough to drop us off at the train station on the day we checked out. It gets real dark on the country paths so it's great if you know what you are doing. Stroud has it's own character and culture of friendliness. The pubs and independent cafes are real gems and sadly you can start to see how the chains are replacing them so hurry up to Stroud before its too late!

    Cheryl2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Superb cottage, in a great location for enjoyable cotswold country walking.

    Ian2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline's cabin is set in the beautiful Slad Valley and provides a welcoming base to the incredibly scenic surroundings. The cabin is clean, airy and light, the bed and sofa comfortable and the DVD's provided a nice touch also. We had a lovely stay and found Caroline and Simon to be friendly, helpful and responsive whilst we took off for local walks. The Woolpack comes highly recommended for locally sourced food and ales and is within walking distance of the cabin, although a torch should be remembered if trekking back at night. Thoughtfully one was provided! We would highly recommend the cabin to anyone wanting to check out the natural beauty of the Cotswolds and seeking a secluded, but welcoming Airbnb. Thanks Caroline and Simon!

The Retreat is situated on Woodchester Valley Vineyard in the Cotswolds, close to Stroud and 1 mile from Nailsworth town with many restaurants, walks, shops and supermarkets. It offers spacious accommodation with stunning views over the valley, a fully equipped kitchen, log burners in both the kitchen and sitting rooms as well as the full sky TV package in 2 separate rooms. As this is adjacent to a working vineyard, regrettably no children under the age of 12 can be accommodated.
The master bedroom offers a super king size bed which can be made into twin beds upon request.
We are located 1.5 miles from the bustling town of Nailsworth, which has an abundance of restaurants, cafés and pubs for breakfast, brunch and dinner options. We are 3.5 miles from the market town of Stroud which boasts one of the best farmers markets in the country every Saturday. The spa towns of Cheltenham and Bath are within 45 minutes, and the area is very popular with walkers, cyclists and those looking for a base from which to explore the South Cotswolds.
  • We had such a wonderful stay here. Although there are only two bedrooms the communal space feels like the house is much larger. There are gorgeous log burners and the house is lovely and warm. We stayed for Christmas and the host had set up a beautiful Christmas tree with lights for us, and couldn't have been more helpful with various changes and questions we had in the run up. Thanks to you all and we hope to come again this year!

  • Second time staying at this Cotswold haven! Can not recommend this place enough, really is a home away from home with views for days! Such good value for money also! Cannot wait to come back again. Thank you to Gail & Carol for being such wonderful hosts!

  • What a magic spot. A must stay if you are staying in the Cotswolds area. A great location, lovely hosts, gorgeous house. Thank you for the welcome treat, it was appreciated. Definitely try the wine it was lovely. We would definitely stay again

  • A beutiful house with outstanding views. Well equiped, cozy and clean.

  • Had a fantastic stay at the retreat. A beautiful house with lovely views. It was incredibly spacious for just 4 people. The bathrooms and bedrooms are beautifully appointed with large showers and baths. Great enclosed garden for our little dog and also big garden out the front to enjoy. You are literally staying within the vineyards. We did the wine tasting tour at the vineyard, which we thoroughly enjoyed! Woodchester valley wines were superb! The tasting room is next door to the property. There are some great pubs nearby but not within walking distance. A lovely place to stay if you like wine and want a relaxing time! Highly recommend!

    Emily2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, incredible views, great facilities and space. A very quiet and secluded house in a stunning location, with amazing views across the valley. Tremendously peaceful and restorative.

    Alex2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place has the wow factor. The pictures don’t do it justice. The living room and kitchen are both huge and are great entertaining spaces. The kitchen and the living room both open out onto the front garden and drive which was perfect as the weather was so good when we visited! The bedrooms were a great size and exactly what we needed. It is a tad steep if you’re walking up, but it was generally fine and if you can’t be bothered with that then the local taxis were more than happy to take us home. The view over the hills is also fantastic - such a nice view to wake up to. Highly recommended. Gail was really helpful in the lead up to our visit and throughout!

    Peter2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures don’t do this home justice. It is beautiful, luxurious and relaxing. Just what we needed for our home base while walking the Cotswolds way.

Any visitor to Stroud really needs to visit the Farmers Market on Saturday morning for takeaway food/ food stalls. Its been voted the best local market in the UK. Stroud is very much the country version of alternative places such as Camden or Shoreditch- it’s a quirky, quixotic, bohemian town with very strong community roots and local free trade shops including art and vintage shops. It has a HUGE amount of artists living in and around the environs. It was voted as one of Britains best places to live in a recent Sunday times article. Stroud is indeed, incredibly special and definitely embodies the hidden bohemian more authentic experience of the Cotswolds. There are always festivals or events, from literature, art to theatre taking place throughout the year. The many mills are part of Stroud’s Industrial Past and house a bustle of workspace sharing co-operatives, artists studios, vintage shops, upholstery and jewellery making workshops. Many guests visit to take part in these workshops to experience this rich arts and crafts heritage. A short 10 minute walk from the house is a wonderfully authentic real ale typically British pub called ‘The Crown and Sceptre’- call in for a great Sunday roast. Other notable nearby establishments to visit are The Subscription Rooms, Giffords Circus, Westonbirt Arboretum, Stroud Valley Artspace, Pangolin Gallery, Hawkwood College (for workshops). Minchinhampton Common is a beautiful common ground area where cattle roam freely across the roads and amongst golfers There are many walks right from the doorway of the house. The Heavens is one beautiful area to explore as is the Stroud micro Brewery Walks to Rodborough Common across the Valley with great views of the river Severn and Wales and a visit to Winstones Ice Cream factory is a must. The Cotswold Way is near by, as are walks to Slad to visit the Woolpack, frequented by the famous author Laurie Lee. For those requiring a flatter walk – take in the beautifully restored Cotswold Canals with access from the towpath to unique pubs and cafes. Painswick, the queen of the Cotswolds, Tetbury, Cirencester, Cheltenham, Bath and Bristol are also definitely worth a visit and are all within easy driving distance from Stroud.
  • Abi’s place is as lovely as she is, a natural host she makes you welcome from the minute you arrive and provides everything you need in her stylish home. I feel I made a friend as well as a regular place to stay in Bohemian Stroud!

    Lesley2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Abi is amazing- so kind and helpful. I had booked last minute for a lady in distress who turned out to have a lot of problems but Abi offered a safe haven, wonderful deep bath with endless bubbles and popped out to the shop specially to buy her favourite cereal. The place is comfortable and welcoming and of course Berkeley the basset hound is totally adorable!

  • Lovely modern house with old touches. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Abi was a great host - she is highly enthuasiastic about Stroud and the town surprised us with how much it had going on! She had lots of tips on places to visit and had really thought through the extra touches in the room. Nice location with views into the surrounding valley. Plenty to explore in Stroud and the surrounding area. Thank you for a great stay!

    Joseph2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house! Very airy and spacious on a quiet road! Exactly what we needed coming from busy London! Abi has been very helpful and hands on from the beginning of booking, very prompt replies and in great detail! She also provides toiletries and towels as well as some breakfast options, note they are sourced from local farmers, that jam with toast was absolute delight! The house is located up to 20min by walk from Stroud town centre, with markets on hand and also bars and restaurants for the evening. Abi gave us some great local recommendations! Bed is super comfortable and house is very very clean, she also has a lovely and very friendly dog (he never barks) that is more than eager to play :)! Great weekend away and I would definitely recommend staying at Abi's place.

    Ausra2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Abi is a wonderful host. From detailed instructions for locating her place to flexible checking in, she goes out of her way to make her guests feel welcome. The house is spacious, tastefully decorated, and has all the amenities one can ask for. Abi adds a personal touch to the room providing tea/coffee, candies, and even wine. The surroundings are picturesque and it's a perfect retreat for those looking to get away from the bustle of city life. An added bonus is Abi's vast knowledge of the area and her willingness to guide her guests. We will cherish the conversations we had with her. Best wishes, Rashmi and Arnab

Parking is on the road but there are always spaces nearby with no restrictions.
Rodborough is a highly desirable neighbourhood due to its location to the common with the famous Winstons ice cream factory, miles of open parkland and a multitude of Cotswold country pubs. The locals are a very friendly and charming bunch of people! • Ross is always my first choice when I stay in Stroud to visit family. He is a warm host and his home is really beautiful and also historic.

    Susan2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Really charming, historic, compact cottage that is very thoughtfully and tastefully equipped. Loads of information about Stroud and the Cotswolds. Healthy and tasty breakfast options and a very warm and friendly welcome from Ross. A great AirBnB experience

    Dave2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable bed, delicious breakfast and Ross was so welcoming and has a wealth of knowledge about the local area. Location close to town and beautiful views across Rodborough Common and close to a great pub and music venue ‘The Prince Albert.’One of our best Airbnb stays.

    Rosa2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ross' charming cottage is the perfect place to stay when visiting Stroud. It is a short walk from town but directly by the common for excellent walks and scenery. Ross is a fantastic host; very friendly and attentive. He was thoughtful and kept in touch, sharing local tips and advice. He is very knowledgeable about Stroud and passionate about the area - a perfect guide.

  • Best host for a while.

    Ryan2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • My mother in law stayed with Ross for our wedding weekend and she was blown away by the cleanliness, comfortable bed and ease of everything. Thank you Ross for providing such a great place for folk visiting Rodborough to stay in.

    Charlotte2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy and convenient, with the lovely common just up the hill. Ross is a friendly host and makes it very clear and easy how it all works. It’s a good spot if you’re over for a night, but any longer and I think I’d personally need a bit more of my own space. Ultimately though, Ross is opening to his home to perfect strangers which he does so in a very kind and generous way. It’s clear he has made a lot of effort to decorate the house with care, and wants his guests to feel safe and welcome. Thanks again!

This fresh, bright, south facing bedroom gives you panoramic views across the Golden Valley to National Trust Rodborough Common. Our Victorian townhouse is ideally situated in the heart of Stroud old town conservation area, within a five minute walk of the award winning Stroud Farmers' Market in the town centre and only ten minutes walk from rolling Cotswold hills and ancient beech woodlands. The market is full of local produce and an international range of delectable street foods.
This old house has been a renovation project. We've used reclaimed doors from an old Victorian orangery, which gives character and light to our spacious hallways and landings. The house is stuffed with weird and wonderful objects: the archives of our lives as art and theatre directors, researcher and book lovers. We prefer to enjoy the good things our neighbourhood has to offer, rather than be too precious about interiors. Our house downstairs has a rough, bohemian feel to it, with the odd bicycle indoors! You'll need shoes for indoors downstairs but please leave muddy ones at the door! Your room and environs, however, have a little more polish applied!
We have extensive local knowledge of the myriad of footpaths, cycle ways and excellent pubs, restaurants and cafes in the vicinity. The town has year round events, festivals and workshops programme which offers all manner of arts activities. It is a charming and magical area in all seasons. We delight in sharing our local knowledge with the many visitors we have had over the years and look forward to meeting you and being able to suggest walking routes to just the right pub or cafe for your mood. For example, The Woolpack pub in Slad village, where Laurie Lee was a regular, now provides excellent cooked food and local ales. Cyclists and their bicycles are also welcome, again with excellent local knowledge of highly scenic circular cycling routes on quiet lanes for you to choose from. There are a wealth of creative arts and cultural festivals hosted in Stroud throughout the year.
  • these hosts are thoughtful and full of information of the locality ,the house is quirky and a real good base in a stunning area, the beds really comfy as well

    Sasha2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Two of the kindest and welcoming hosts you’re likely to meet. Chris and Chris have a beautiful peaceful home and make you feel so welcome. The bed is luxury, so comfortable and views over the valley are stunning to wake up to. Would highly recommend their place to anyone.

    Stephanie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A little sooner than expected, but we had another absolutely wonderful stay with Chris & Chris. Their hospitality is second to none and we felt right at home once again. As before... from the lovely top floor room, to breakfast chats in the warmth of the Aga, it's a friendly and welcoming home and Chris & Chris are fantastic hosts. We'll definitely be back and hopefully next time we'll have more time to explore all the local tips they've passed on too. Thanks so much!

    Alex2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Chris's place is a tall family home, typical of somewhere you might find in Stroud. Chris, the Aga and the dog welcome you in, just as if you were visiting family friend. The room is at the very top of the house so you feel as if you are still in your own area, with a sweet private loo. The room has a view of hills and Stroud, and when looking out on a quiet sunny day you feel as if you were in a book or a song. The room is pretty and clean, and the rest of the house is a rabbit warren kind of woody place, with a charming rustic feel.

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a lovely stay at Chris and Chris's. The room is just gorgeous - so beautifully and sensitively renovated and furnished, and peaceful! - and the house is truly special (I especially loved coming down to breakfast to find Eliot warming himself by the Aga, wagging his tail!). Chris and Chris are so friendly and helpful, and we had lovely chats about Stroud, its people and its history... Thank you both for such a warm welcome to this very special town!

    Andrea2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Chris & Chris are fantastically welcoming and friendly hosts, and their house is packed with character and makes a wonderful place to stay. We loved the upstairs space, which is cosy and comfortable with amazing views out over the valley, and really enjoyed breakfast by the Aga each morning chatting with them - we just wish we'd had a bit more time to do so! Hopefully next time... Thanks very much for everything Chris & Chris!

    Alex2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time and Chris and Chris were so lovely and welcoming - consummate hosts!

    Jim2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Chris’s when I was going to a Ceilidh in Stroud. Chris and Chris were very welcoming and friendly. They were very helpful. The room was very comfortable with a great view and comfortable double bed. It is only a few minutes walk down the hill to the centre of Stroud and very conveniently located.

Very well presented, modern 3 bedroom house in a quiet, private location overlooking a football, basketball & tennis court. The house is always kept to a very high standard of cleanliness and has all it needs to be a comfortable stay. The bedroom has ample storage, an ottoman double bed and two windows bringing in lots of light. There is a shared bathroom next to the room which has a bath and overhead shower. There is parking space to the front of the property.
It has a south facing garden with patio and grass area . Communal use of living areas (kitchen and lounge) welcomed. Each bedroom is fitted with a lock so there should be no concern of privacy or security. We are friendly and enjoy cooking different types of food, watching sports, going to the gym and would be happy to share these interests if you wished to.
The property is in close proximity to a pub restaurant, supermarket (5 mins walk) and gyms. The house is overlooking a football, basketball & tennis court. It is located at the end of a quiet cul de sac in a residential area.

This beautiful, private space will give you the best of both worlds. It’s conveniently located from Stroud town centre with great transport connections, and yet once you enter the garden here you’ll be in a peaceful retreat, surrounded by nature. The little hut is set in our large garden, and overlooks the beautiful Slad Valley. We also have another little hut and a larger cabin and shepherd's hut - these can be found in separate listings.
The little hut is insulated and has a single bed and bedside table, with lamps and a heater to keep you warm. The hut itself is away from the Wifi signal (although you do get phone signal on most networks and 3G) but there is high-speed Wifi in the conservatory. The conservatory is a beautiful, light space where you can sit and relax any time - make yourself a cuppa, listen to the birds or get some work done. Breakfast will also be served in the conservatory at whatever time you’re ready - you don’t need to wake up at a specific time or tell us when you want to eat. We’ll leave homemade bread, tea and coffee etc. for you so that you can help yourself. The bathroom you’ll use is just next to the conservatory by the house. The bathroom has a toilet, shower and sink. It is an out-building rather than part of the house, so there’s a heater that can be turned on to keep it cosy. It’s a short walk up the garden from the hut so be aware that your shower won’t be right next to your sleeping space, it’s actually just next to the conservatory. There’s a beautiful meditation room, which you’re welcome to use.
We are situated at the edge of Stroud, just as the town thins out towards the Slad Valley. Our house is detached and is on a friendly, quiet street with the valley on one side and the woods to the back. There is parking on our private driveway or free parking on the street. You can walk out the front door and just a few minutes walk along our road will take you down a country lane. There are lovely beech woods within a few minutes walk and you can take a longer walk (30 mins +) to the stunning Swifts Hill or to the Woolpack Pub (a local favourite made famous by the Laurie Lee novel ‘Cider with Rosie’). There are plenty of other things to explore, as we’re just a 15-20 minute walk from Stroud town centre, or a short drive from the train station (1.5 hours direct train to London). You can visit the award-winning local farmers market, go to the local pubs (knowing you’re in walking distance!), or go to any of the regular and eclectic cultural events that go on in Stroud. You may want to be here as a springboard to explore Stroud and the surrounding villages, or perhaps you’d rather close the door and use your stay here as more of a retreat - either way is fine, or perhaps a bit of both!
