  • Amazing, social space for a big gathering. We comfortably had 8 adults and 1 toddler and the big kitchen/dining/living space made our family weekend away really special as we could all be together. Hot tub and it’s view was a bonus! If you’re into good coffee, Spider on a Bicycle in Aboyne is great!

  • Lovely, open space - perfect for a group of friends/couples or an extended family trip. Quick responses from friendly host who greeted us and showed us around when we arrived. Would definitely recommend!

  • Bea’s place in Lumphanan is excellent and has everything you’d need to enjoy a short or long stay near the Cairngorms. The house is fabulous with comfortable bedrooms and social areas, and a fantastic kitchen and dining space to host dinner parties. We would recommend this Airbnb to everyone, you’ll have a great time! Thank you to the hosts for providing everything we needed!

  • We had a lovely time at ‘The Hideaway’. The living space is fantastic for a large family. The hot tub has great views, would be spectacular in summer. Communication with Bea was first class. Would certainly recommend.

  • Immaculate place in a great location. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxed break in the countryside.

  • Beautiful house, all our guests were very comfortable. The place was clean, incredible view from the hot tub and check-in was helpful and pain-free. No complaints, would definitely recommend!

    Andrew2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a weekend at The Hideaway (4 adults, 4 children and 2 toddlers). The house was extremely spacious and perfect for a large group. Living, kitchen, dining area were all open plan and very well designed. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and more. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated and the kids den area was a hit. We planned on seeing the local area but we couldn't bring ourselves to leave the beautiful house so we stayed in and relaxed and watched movies all weekend. The hot tub overlooks a picturesque landscape and kept the kids and adults happy for hours. The hosts were happy to answer any questions and when we had one small issue, it was sorted out immediately. Really pleased with the property and customer care. Thanks again.

  • Had such a lovely stay at lisa’s ‘retreat’ it was very relaxing. The hot tub was amazing even in the freezing weather, we chose to take the good of it, and we weren't disappointed! Lisa was a great host, gave such good recommendations and was very helpful! Will 100% recommend this place to friends and family! X

  • The accommodation is absolutely stunning. Fireplace, comfortable bed, stylish design, lovely garden and amazing jacuzzi! Honestly cannot recommend this venue enough. We were so lucky to have a clear night and we could see the whole sky and stars whilst in the jazuzzi. It was magical. Thank you again Lisa! We will be back :)

  • Lisa and Sacha’s place was a perfect place to stay. It is so peaceful. The rooms are very comfortable. Having our own lounge and dining area was a bonus. Dinner at the nearby pub was delicious. Sacha kindly drove us and it was 10 minute taxi ride home. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Light, airy spacious semi-detached cottage was the first to be built in the oldest village in Royal Deeside, Kincardine O’Neil. It's been lovingly refurbished with a warm & welcoming interior, with white walls offset by tasteful furnishings. A spacious kitchen/dining room & L-shaped living room both give way to a lovely south-facing enclosed garden with sitting-out area & lawn. On street parking, oil central heating. 1 pet allowed.
On the ground floor is the living room with patio doors taking you out into the south facing garden. Airy kitchen and dining area including utility room and toilet. Complimentary tea, coffee and sugar along with high chair and children’s dishes & cutlery supplied. Spare room with sofa bed on the ground floor. Upstairs is the bedrooms and bathroom. Bedroom 1 has king size bed, bedroom 2 has 2 single beds which can be made up to a king size bed. As mentioned, Travel Cot is available along with high chair. Pets - 1 dog is allowed and dog blanket and bowl is provided. The cottage is 45 minute drive from Aberdeen / Dyce Airport. There are many great cycle routes all around this area; cycle or walk to the café in Potarch, 2 miles, along a designated route which hugs the majestic River Dee - a magnet for salmon and trout fishing. Excellent walks abound both from the surrounding countryside and two from the village itself, one taking you around the River Dee and the other takes you towards Kincardine Castle. Royal Deeside is famed for sparkling rivers, wooded hillsides and heather clad moors. Ballater is 30 minute drive, where you can head to Loch Muick for a wonderful walk around the loch. Crathie and Braemar 50 minute drive. Within surrounding area there’s some challenging walks up several munros, including Lochnagar, where you may spot deer, ptarmigans and mountain hares, or if you are really lucky, golden eagles. The burn o vat is between Aboyne and Ballater and worth a visit to see the views and waterfall, depending on season.
The local Village Store is great for breakfast rolls or fresh sandwiches made to order. Gem shop which has beautiful jewellery and gifts. Good variety of local walks within the village. Plenty local coffee shops in Aboyne and Banchory, including pubs for lunch or dinner. There’s a large Garden centre called The Raemoir Garden centre with restaurant and cafe in Banchory. Golf courses nearby, Aboyne, Torphins and Banchory. Local supermarkets, Co op in Aboyne or Tesco and Morrison’s in Banchory. Lovely ice cream and chip shop over looking the green in Aboyne. The local Indian restaurant in Aboyne is a favourite with locals, take away also available.
  • Really well presented accommodation, spacious and clean. The stores opposite great for brekkie and packed lunches Chinese takeaway 2 mins away !

  • This was our second stay at The Grove and it was just as great as the first. If there's a better value Airbnb out there I'd be amazed. The house is excellent and superbly kitted out. Lots of nice touches that set it apart from usual holiday let's. Most definitely will stay again when visiting the area.

  • This was a very comfortable and clean home. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Jennifer2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful cottage - surprisingly spacious, very clean and warm and excellent equipped. Great location with walks, shops and a decent Chinese take away just across the road.

    David2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is deceptively large inside and was clean and warm. Suzanne had provided not only a travel cot and highchair for my young children, but there was also plastic cutlery and plates provided which was unexpected and a pleasant surprise. Kincardine O'Neil is pretty quiet but you are only 5 minutes away from the larger Aboyne and we had a very tasty fish supper from the chip shop there!

    Francesca2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was spotless and Suzanne was a great host with lots of great tips for places to go/things to see.

    Kincardine O'Neil, Scotland, United Kingdom

Rural property , with views over Deeside, Lochnagar and the Cairngorms. On a good route to both Aberdeen and the Cairngorm Mountains. Ideal for outdoor folk, who either need a night or two to ‘catch up ‘ and are looking for a warm bed, hot shower, use of a well equipped kitchen, a washing machine or for somewhere a bit longer, there are facilities to sort and store outdoor gear The cottage is not posh, a little dated and in need of decorating, but it is clean, warm, relaxed and comfortable
The house is a traditional one and a half storey Aberdeenshire granite house built around 1800 on one of the old military roads. We are the last property before the lane becomes an old drove that leads down to Lumphanan village or up through woods and open moor. I offer a reasonably priced room for travellers who don’t need a ‘homes and garden’ type accommodation as I enjoy meeting new people. I’m easy going and find my guests accept the hospitality the way in which it is offered We have the original fireplace with a swing arm that used to used for cooking, we now have an Aga in the kitchen for you to cook on and a wood burner you are welcome to chill out or warm up in front of. For a single traveler or a couple you have your double bedroom and the use of a small sitting room, both with amazing views. Or you are welcome to share my space. For those wanting the use of two beds - if not a couple, you have the two upstairs bedrooms with fabulous views. My kitchen is a reasonable size with everything you should need, and a dining table. you are welcome to sit in the conservatory or out in the garden (possibly with the two pet sheep!)
We are on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park and within easy distance of it and Royal Deeside. Aboyne is a picturesque small town 10 miles away with everything you could need and a few village shops and pubs within easy reach. Aberdeen is just 30 miles away, yet we really feel remote and secluded There are no close neighbours. The nearest is 100m or more away. Only 3 houses in our 400m unmade private track ( we are the last house before the road becomes a walk to the village) The small quiet hamlet of tulluchvenus is at the junction with the main road. The views from the bedrooms are a bit special.
  • Great place to stay, I’m a beautiful and rural part of Scotland. Although my stay was brief, Jo was very accommodating and it was really a pleasure staying in her lovely cottage. The room was super cozy with a great view of the surrounding hills. I highly recommend!

    Hannah2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was a delight to stay with Jo (and her dogs 😊). The true spirit of Airbnb, really sharing the spaces and having good conversations. I even learnt how to cook on an Aga! The cottage is wonderfully remote too, the silence is beautiful

    Roy2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jo’s house is like a home from home! We were made to feel very welcome (even offered a lovely cup of tea when arriving!) and everything was very homely. Great value for money and a perfect place to stay in a beautiful location!

    Linda2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Jo's place. She was very welcoming and easy to get along. You must like dogs if you stay there but the animals are really cute. The location is ideal as a starting point for hikes in the Cairngorms National Park or to visit some of the pretty castles in the area.

    Inka2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jo is a lovely person. We enjoyed our time there. Beautiful views!

    Ella & John-Henry2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were very happy with our brief stay in Jo's 'Cosy Cottage'! The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and Jo was a very friendly and helpful host - especially with our 2 slightly anti-social dogs... It was amazingly good value, and we highly recommend it!

    Sue2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jo is very welcoming. Our stay was perfect during our road trip. Beds were really comfy.

Close to great views and hikes, quiet and peaceful, this self-contained mini chalet is great for solo or couple adventurers, and those seeking a peaceful retreat. Glamping at its best, its not for the 5-star brigade. Clean + cosy with its own kitchen and bathroom – accessible from outside, adding to a feeling of being in the wild, yet retaining modern comforts you’re sure to enjoy your stay in this one-of-a-kind home. Rentals of one month or more from £495-£895 pcm!
Den of Allachlade (or Den of Marmalade as we like to call it - long story) has been "mine" (Vicki) since 1993 when I was pregnant with my daughter, Jessica. It has morphed through several stages, survived divorce, accommodated therapy, workshops, all sorts of weird and wonderful events and has seen the transformation of many beautiful folk. It really has a special vibe to it, a Scottish twist on a Laurel Canyon type commune! It somehow manages to be family home, therapy center and base for travelers, professional nomads, volunteers, holidaymakers, spiritual seekers... all in one go. Regular guests are my daughter Jessica when she is home from Glasgow, Kacper, provider of scrumptious food, blogger and intrepid digi nomad. Last but not least Felix the cat. And… my fingers are crossed as I write this, a Mummy deer took rest at the bottom of the garden when giving birth in the summer of 2018 and she and the baby are still regular visitors, it is quite lovely to see them so close. As for me, I am an author - 2nd book coming up! Hypnotherapist, NLP-er, etc, etc. I am an active meditator and Sanyasin. I work mostly from home and as little as possible in Aberdeen :) If you would like to join our motley crew, we take paying guests, part paying guests (house-sitters), karmic yogis and woofers, just get in touch! When we are at home, we love to provide therapy and teaching as optional extras go ahead and enquire if you’d like to know more. We do our best to make your stay special without getting in your face - tell us what you need. In the Fairy Penthouse you benefit from being totally detached from the main house and having your own access to the bedroom via the garden. The room has a super comfy double cabin bed and TV. In the nice weather you can lie in bed looking on to the garden and eat dinner on your own wee balcony The shower room and kitchen are downstairs accessed via outside from the drive of the main house. Kitchen has a mini fridge, microwave, 4 plate hob, George Foreman Grill, washing machine (shared with the main house), kettle and toaster. Let me know if you want a table and chairs for outside.
There are river walks a stones throw from the property, and plenty of longer woodland and hill walks and stone circles to see in the area. For the sporty, golf courses abound, and water skiing is about a 5 minute drive away. Alternatively pop along to the new outdoor swimming pool at Stonehaven, a beautiful harbour town along the East coast not far from Dunnotar Castle. In August and September there are several highland games taking place in the area.

    Luzelle2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • I came here in the middle of November after an impulse booking, and absolutely loved it. It was freezing outside, but the cabin was nice and toasty, had all facilities for showering and cooking, and was very quiet. There are some cute cafes around Aboyne too, and lots of nice walking trails. Very nice for a quick getaway when you need a moment to yourself! Thank you!

    Toni2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place to stay in a very peaceful part of Aboyne. We stayed there for one night as a short stopover and Vicki's place was everything we expected. Very comfy and cosy. 5 minutes walk from the town.

    Murray2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at Vicki's place, even though we were only there for a short period of time. It was super clean, well equipped and had literally the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. Also loved all the personal touches.

Our traditional property looks out onto the beautiful countryside of Aberdeenshire. It is lovely property with a matured peaceful garden. A warm welcome awaits you with peace and quiet, stunning views and wildlife.
Stunning countryside location. Beautiful old granite school house with an exceptional view of the landscape and mountains. With lots to discover and plenty of clean fresh air in the highlands which is on the outskirts of the Cairngorms National Park, peace and tranquility await you here upon your return at the end of each exciting day. Nice living space, well equipped kitchen area and bathroom with a bath and shower. The property features tiled flooring in the kitchen with underfloor heating and carpets in the rest of the house apart from the bathroom. The property is centrally heated by our wood burning stove. There is a big space for parking at the side of the property and many places to go on walks or bike rides. If your stay is in term time, depending on how many guests are living here, myself and my son will be staying up in our converted loft space and would share the living spaces.
Set in the beautiful countryside 2 miles from the small village of Tarland, 3 miles from Aboyne which is the nearest town and approximately 30 miles from the city of Aberdeen. Aberdeen city, Westhill and Banchory are all commuting distance which lead to some of the North Easts finest tourist destinations. We live in the countryside and there are fantastic walks from our back door including the Aboyne to Tarland cycle/walk way which is ideal for walkers, runners, horse riders and cyclists and there are many places for golfing enthusiasts. We are also very near to many mountains including Morven, Press and Dye, Lochnagar and Clachnaben. We are very close to many natural trails such a lochs, rivers, streams, waterfalls, mountain bike trails. The main reasons most people come here are the peace & quiet, stunning views and wildlife. We do have neighbours who live in the converted School and are extremely friendly and kind and can help you if I am not available if issues arise.

  • Gayl's place was really warm & welcoming....truly 'snug' ....she is a great host

    Ann2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a find! Truly the best Airbnb we've ever stayed in. Such a friendly arrival we were welcomed into the cosy home away from home with a comfy bed, lovely styling and best of all a logburner. It was a wild night outside but we were snug as a bug. There is a wee annexe private kitchen stocked with goodies and bathroom with a great shower. The loveliest touches such as home made bread with marmalade just made our stay all better. The little touches made our stay all the better and we shall definitely make a special trip to return. I could not recommend Gayl and her family high enough. Thank you!

    Ashe2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such a fantastic stay! Gayl, Pete and Thomas made sure we felt right at home. Also went out of the way to make sure we had everything we needed for our 9 month old baby - couldn't be happier! Clean, cosy place, and a great mix of homeliness and independence. And big kudos for Thomas and his rubbish club - inspirational work!!

  • This is a great place to stay if you like peace and quiet but not be to remote, May is a fabulous host always helpful and cheerful. Everything needed for a long stay is included too and the log burner was brilliant, we stayed from early Dec 2019 to the end of Jan 2020 and never used the electric heaters as the fire put out so much heat. Overall cosy clean and tidy we could not fault anything.

    Michael2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • May's cottage was amazing! It is a great location to explore the highlands especially the Cairngorm national forest which is exceptionally beautiful. The cottage is cozy and quaint exactly what I was looking for. May is an amazing host very responsive and flexible. Highly recommend.

  • The Croft is extremely cosy and well situated for the Aberdeenshire region. Ample parking space and nearby pub make it excellent. Fireplace and other amenities all in working order. May is also an excellent host and replies and responded quickly to all our queries! Strong recommendation!

This beautiful self-contained annex has been described as a small hotel. Creatively designed to give its narrow shape a ship like quality it is clean, cosy & close to great views & hikes, offering a peaceful retreat for quiet souls & country lovers. Ideal for 2, with potential to sleep 3 - a couple & child or 3 close friends (the shower is inside the bedroom) & the 3-bed set up inhibits the living space. Kitchen is & fully equipped & there's lots of choice for eating out. Enquire for long term.
It somehow manages to be family home, therapy centre and base for travellers, professional nomads, volunteers, holidaymakers, spiritual seekers... all in one go. Regular guests are my daughter Jessica when she is home from Glasgow, Kacper, provider of scrumptious food, blogger and intrepid digi nomad and… my fingers are crossed as I write this, a Mummy deer took rest at the bottom of the garden when giving birth in the summer of 2018 and she and the baby are still regular visitors, it is quite lovely to see them so close. As for me, I am an author - 2nd book coming up! Hypnotherapist, NLP-er, etc, etc. I am an active meditator and Sanyasin. I work mostly from home and as little as possible in Aberdeen :) If you would like to join our motley crew, we take paying guests, part paying guests, house-sitters, karmic yogis and woofers, just get in touch! When we are at home, we love to provide therapy and teaching as optional extras go ahead and enquire if you’d like to know more. We do our best to make your stay special without getting in your face - tell us what you need. In the East Annex you benefit from your personal porch with a small table and chairs which opens into a lovely seating area, which leads into the well-equipped kitchen. There's a lovely sunroom with a window-seat, strewn with comfy cushions and the double bedroom has en-suite shower inside on open plan. The window-seat area can work as a make-up single bedroom, and we can also put up a fold-down bed in the porch seating area or you can use the red chaise lounge, however, we have no window covering there, so a no-no for anyone who needs blackout! Please be aware that the main house will be rented out over Winter to guests also, so please be aware of noise levels so as not to disturb other guests.
Aboyne is a quiet village. Enough so that in the morning it's quite common to see grazing deer in the fields or even in our garden. Have a look at the guide to see the local points of interest (there's way more than in here). It's a great place to come and relax, far away from the hustle and bustle of cities. Aboyne (Scots: Abyne, Scottish Gaelic: Abèidh) is a village on the edge of the Highlands in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on the River Dee, approximately 26 miles (42 km) west of Aberdeen. It has a swimming pool at Aboyne Academy, all-weather tennis courts, a bowling green and is home to the oldest 18 hole Golf course on Royal Deeside. Aboyne Castle and the Loch of Aboyne are nearby. Outdoor pursuits include golf, walking, cycling, and gliding from the airfield just outside the village. Aboyne has become popular with gliding enthusiasts from Britain and Europe due to its suitable air currents (due to the surrounding terrain). The airfield has two parallel tarmac runways running east-west, a webcam and small weather-monitoring centre on its premises.
  • Great location; very nice and helpful host: great and clean accommodation.

  • Vicki is a warm and welcoming host and will give you local tips for things like places to eat if needed. The accommodation is the perfect size for two and has all the facilities that you could need! Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • A very good value stay in Aboyne. We slept two adults comfortably, one on the double bed and one on the couch with a mattress in the front room.

    Howard2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Hospitable host, quiet and private annex to the host's house. The host is welcoming and has a set of strict houserules that work very well to make everyone's life easy. The sitting area of the annex has a window to the host's lounge, so that area is not completely private. Be aware that the host occasionally needs access to use the washing machine in the annex. Good value for money for a stay in Aboyne.

  • Amazing place, cosy and lovely perfect for solo travelers exploring around Aberdeenshire nice places from castles and Lochs. Vicki is amazing host and her place super cool. To all my friends and those who like to visit Aboyne and discover tremendous places in Aberdeenshire, Vicki’s place is highly recommended.

  • We had everything we needed and felt right at home. We were unsure about getting around by public transport, so we were pleasantly surprised to find the bus stops right out front! Some walks nearby would be easier to access by car, but we found plenty to explore. We would absolutely recommend staying here.

    Lydia2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed overnight for a wedding. The east annex is a lovely little space. Everything you could want and we’ll thought out. Vicki is a warm and welcoming host.

  • The small appartment next to Vicki’s house was exactly what we expected : clean, cosy and comfy ! Vicki was very helpful and she even made a table appear just like magic. Perfect to explore this side of Cairngorms !

  • Very cosy cottage with beautiful decor and it had all the essential facilities

    Laura2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • After a very cold day walking, we arrived at Emily’s cottage tired and chilly. We soon relaxed in the beautiful living room in front of a fantastic wood burner that gave off a lovely cosy heat. Our host popped in with extra washing up liquid and to make sure we were ok which was a really kind touch. We were too tired to go out to have something to eat but with the well equipped dining kitchen we were able to sit down to a nice meal that was easy to cook. Playing a few games and watching a bit of telly before making use of the beautifully decorated bedrooms was very relaxing. Emily accommodated our later check out request which meant our teenage daughters got an extra lie in and we were all able to use the lovely bathroom and fantastic shower before leaving. Although we were only there one night we felt like we really had a good break away and would love to come back to explore the area more perhaps in some nice hot sunny weather! Thanks so much for being a great host. X

  • I loved this cottage. It was so cozy in front of the fire. It was very relaxing waking up to that sunlight and having a coffee in the window seat. Spacious kitchen. Best water pressure in the shower I have come across in Scotland. I would highly recommend this place to stay if you want to wind down.

  • Can’t recommend this place enough, excellent accommodation in a beautiful location with amazing hosts, I look forward to our next visit.

  • I have nothing bad to say about our stay at Coull Mill. The place itself was immaculate, warm and so inviting. Our hosts were brilliant and kept us well informed about our stay. Pictures don’t do this wonderful house justice, so much effort has gone into making it a home from home. My family had such a great time here that we are thinking of a summer visit at some point. Great value for money, everything we needed was in the house from extra towels to plenty of kitchen essentials. I can’t recommend this place highly enough, go see for yourself and experience a wonderful house in an amazing part of Scotland. Christine, Martin and family x

  • This was our second visit and the mill was as lovely as we remembered. It was also beautifully warm during a very cold spell.

  • We had a wonderfully relaxing stay in the Mill. Beautifully decorated with everything you could wish for. Delicious scones on arrival, beautiful forest walks & Stuart & Val had put out a Xmas tree for us to decorate as our own Xmas away from home. A great place to stay & explore the Highlands.

  • Great peaceful location ideal to explore Royal Deeside. Lovely welcoming barn conversion with excellent amenities, extremely clean and spacious. Perfect for a family getaway! We would highly recommend Rhys and Rachael’s place, you won’t be disappointed!

    Judith2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Rhys & Rachel's place is beautifly designed and has an aura of warmth and cosiness. We loved the fact that the bedrooms and corresponding bathrooms are on the opposite sides of the cottage and are joined together by a lovely living room/kitchen area. If you love boardgames or dvds - you're all set! If you like cooking and baking, this kitchen is probably best equipped self catering kitchen I've ever seen (I mean really, it even has a scale and a hand mixer! - yes, we made cookies 🍪). I can't say a bad word about the place. As for hosts, we didn't meet them, but the communication was so great! They are VERY helpful (they even received our Tesco delivery, when we were running late). They also bought a new baby bath and a cot with bassinet (we were travellingwith a baby), for which we are so thankful. On arrival we were grated by a lovely bag of fresh coffee and some home grown potatoes and some chocolates 😍 I really can't recommend this place more!

One of the best views you will find on Royal Deeside. Walk into the welcoming kitchen with its dining table for up to 12, the room opens up to an oak floored salon & family room looking on to the fields and valley beyond. Through the patio doors there is a huge area of decking where you can enjoy nature at its best, while turning the BBQ and enjoy your evening G+T. The 2nd public room with office facilities & a comfy bed settee & the master bedroom with patio doors are also south- facing.
The views from this home are unblocked and unrivalled. Hay fields with regular visiting deer and pheasants lead to the River Dee and the hills beyond. The decking area is a superb entertaining space and the garden has a newly built, fairy lit, pergola area to enjoy a fire and a drink in the evening. The main house also has 3 additional self contained units available separately if required for larger group bookings, one which is accessible via a locked door directly from the house please ask for availability.
  • Vicki’s place has stunning views and a very special ‘ambience’. It was spacious and light but also warm and cosy. We found everything we needed, the place was very clean and we had a great holiday in Aboyne. Food at The Boat is recommended!

Handy location for the national park, whisky/ castle tours and Aberdeen festivals. Previously part of a working farm, this rural retreat, provides a quick exit for country pursuits: walking, orienteering, cycling etc. Great for artists too! South- facing surrounded by trees it affords privacy for those wanting to "get away from it all" Although an easy commute into Aberdeen by car - no public transport or industrial traffic to contend with as you start your day in the hills or castles!
Ennets Bothy is a traditional wood- lined bothy which has been upgraded to meet modern standards of comfortable living without sacrificing character. One room living can be awkward, but clever use of space makes for an interesting ambience. Ennets Bistro- situated just under your bed will open and close when the mood takes you! The adjacent shower-space is very swanky for a bothy! In good weather the outside space becomes your lounge, but if you need shelter from rain or sun the verandah is ideal for reading or dining in comfort! It's the furthest thing from a hotel/bnb you can get and totally yours to enjoy! Our guests comment on peace and quiet and lack of light pollution- most enjoy a whisky or hot chocolate under a canopy of stars! They frequently encounter deer, red squirrels, stoats and a variety of bird life.
Ennets Bothy is in a rural location which has good road links to both city and the hills. Close enough to pick up shopping by car or bike at Torphins or Lumphanan, it also has several lovely walks close by. If you like animal/birdwatching it's here on the doorstep. We see red squirrel, stoats, rabbits, deer and numerous species of birds routinely, and presently have a resident swallow. Various countryside pursuits can be accessed at Deeside Activity Park, or if you fancy something more cultural...you can take in numerous local festivals and concerts/events which take place locally. The Bothy is an ideal place to make your own timetable- separate enough to be independent but not so isolated that you can't get an interesting itinerary!

Our traditional very peaceful Scottish bothy is attached to the main house with its own entrance and porch. It has been updated with central heating and wood burner for cosy evenings. There is a hallway with a doors to the sitting/kitchen room and to the shower room and toilet. The sleeping platform with double bed is accessed by spiral staircase from the living room. A heated Endless swimming pool at the back of the house and a wood fired sauna down by the burn are available on request.
We are within easy reach of hills, local NTS castles etc, but 2.5 miles to nearest shop. Very tranquil with great views and with no light pollution, perfect for viewing the stars! Situated beside the Beltie Burn and Benaquallie hill. Parking space, car essential, nearest bus 2.5 miles.
  • A beautiful, cozy cottage that is a perfect home base for day trips around Aberdeenshire. Neil and Gill were wonderful hosts and the bothy is very well cared for. We visited in stormy February weather and the wood stove heated the place beautifully. The kitchen has everything you need, and there are great resources in the cottage for local amenities and hikes. The only issue we had was not having enough time to stay and enjoy it longer. Hope to go back again!

Cute & quirky self-contained studio offering a peaceful retreat close to great hikes. It has a comfy double and the floor space is tiny with only 2 chairs at the table inside. The wet room is small & kitchen facilities basic but idyllically beautiful, quiet & peaceful. t really depends on what you want, but there are few places this serene and peaceful and with your own area of decking and outdoor dining. You are also welcome to enjoy my garden.
Regular guests are my daughter Jessica when she is home from Glasgow, Kacper, provider of scrumptious food, blogger and intrepid digi nomad, and… my fingers are crossed as I write this, a Mummy deer took rest at the bottom of the garden when giving birth in the summer of 2018 and she and the baby are still regular visitors, it is quite lovely to see them so close. In the Garden Studio you benefit from being the most southerly facing room giving you a feeling of total detachment with only the hills to look back at you. You have your own access via the garden. The room has a super comfy double cabin bed and TV. In the nice weather you can lie in bed looking out and eat dinner on your own area of decking. The wet room is very small but sufficient as a basic shower and toilet and kitchenette just manages to squeeze everything in that you need to cook a proper meal.
  • We had a lovely stay in the little garden studio. it was perfect for our weekend away and had all we needed. the view into the cairngorms is lovely, and there was many nice walks nearby - we would recommend the standing stone circle, burn o vat, and glen tanar national park. there is also an earth house nearby from the bronze age that you can drive to and walk into. We were a little under-whelmed by the local leaflets of things to do nearby provided in the studio - the leaflets were all quite old and also of things that were far north, we ended up adding our own found in a local pub. The spider on a bicycle cafe was nice, as was at 'the sign of the black face sheep'. The extra duvet was needed at night as it was freezing, and even during the day in the studio we had to wear layers of jumpers and scarves to keep warm. "

  • The Garden studio was a lovely, comfortable, peaceful place to stay for the night, I loved the style of the cabin studio, the terrace and the view. It was just great to pull back the curtains in the morning (after a very good rest) and let the light flood in and see the fields and forested hills. It was a tight space, but that was clear on the description and I found it very cosy. I would definitely come back and stay for more than a night :)

  • Lovely cottage for 3 couples. Well situated to get away from everything but still driving distance to many attractions. The place had many books and activities to do if the weather is not good. Will be coming back soon!

  • Fantastic cottage on the Ballogie Estate. A little tricky to find from the map, but worth the wait. Beautifully furnished, with a lovely bright lounge overlooking a small garden. Great views across the hills and a short drive to both Banchory and Aboyne. Modern bathrooms and comfortable bedrooms. We enjoyed our stay and were lucky enough to see deer on the drive to the cottage from the main road.

My place is close to The mountains and the sea.. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space and the comfy beds. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
Our holiday cottage is located on our family run farm near Lumphanan. We have a prize winning herd of Aberdeen Angus cows and some fluffy sheep. Macbeth was killed near Lumphanan!
We are half way between the Cairngorm Mountains and the beautiful Aberdeenshire coast. Aberdeen city is 45 minutes drive away.
  • Philippa made everything easy. From initial communications through to our goodbye. Very grateful to have found this space and will visit again.

  • We feel good in this cottage, as if we are at home.!

    Helene2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cosy cottage with lovely views out across the countryside. The two bedrooms are well proportioned and at opposite ends of the cottage. There is a main bathroom and cloakroom, one next to each bedroom. The middle area is comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen, dining table and seating area. Outside there is a patio with table and chairs if the weather permits. We had fabulous sunny weather, but even if it were blowing a hoolie, there is underfloor heating and a wood burning stove, and given the thickness of the walls I think you'd be quite cosy! The cottage is out in the countryside on a working farm, but with a car it is easy to access the wider area and all that it has to offer. A great location for a short or longer stay.

We do have neighbours who live in the converted School and are extremely friendly and kind and can help you if I am not available if issues arise.
  • We stayed here for the weekend when we attended a wedding at Glen Tanar (£20 taxi ride) and we were met my Dermid and his son who were really welcoming and showed us around. The cottage itself was lovely and traditional and very clean. Exactly what we were looking for.

  • The house is in an amazing quiet location with great views. There are so many things to do in the area, so the house is a great base for sightseeing and hiking. Thanks Dermid for a lovely stay.

    Cathie2018-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We ( family with 3 kids and 2 dogs) stayed 5 nights in Dermid’s house. We had a wonderful experience. Not only because of all we could see and do from Coull but also because we felt at home. We had a real exchange with Dermid and Brad, his son. The kids joined the Highland games junior of Aboyne thanks to Dermid who recommended it. We got very good walk and visiting tips. The house is cosy and the view is just breathtaking. Thank you so much for letting us feel at home. It was a lot of fun!

    Mimi2018-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house that Dermid provides is his house. Do not expect to find sanitized housing, where nothing goes beyond and everything seems to come out of the store. In fact, when you enter Dermid's house, you enter his life. And he is there, without invading you, just in case you need something or just want to talk.

    Lydie2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Dermid is a well travelled man with a strong family ethos making him a superb host, full of valuable local knowledge and suggestions. The house is an adventure itself being a listed building which relies on the logs constantly burning and in an in an ideal location if you're wanting peace and nature. You will be ideally located to get to some superb places to explore and for some nice, low level walks. We visited early Easter during the snow which gave a magical feel amongst the pine and forest just behind the house. Has to be stunning in summer. Ideal for a family or small group of friends.

With stunning views and in an isolated position my home has an interesting history. The decor is tired, but you are welcome to share my home in a relaxed atmosphere. The house is a traditional one and a half storey Aberdeenshire granite house built around 1800 on one of the old military roads. We are the last property before the lane becomes an old drove that leads down to Lumphanan village or up through woods and open moor. I offer reasonably priced accommodation for travellers who don’t need a ‘homes and garden’ type accommodation as I enjoy meeting new people.
