  • Karen was very friendly and fun to talk to. Her home is fun and colorful and immaculately clean. Thank you for being so welcoming on our short weekend journey!

  • Fantastic place to stay...can’t say enough good things!

    Nicholas2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Karen's house was exceptionally clean and relaxing. She has superior decorating skills and her home exudes an exotic/new age vibe, with items from her travels. She has an abundant amount of books. I enjoyed reading a book in the peace of our surroundings. Everywhere I looked, there were interesting touches and items. Karen was easy to reach and we had no issues. Thank you for a wonderful experience! :)

  • Karen is an attentive host. She is a positive and caring person. I enjoyed our "coffee talks' each morning. Her "Butterfly House" is conveniently located to down town and Route 145. It is clean and comfortable. It's a place where you can feel "right at home". This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Karen's place in the past year- when visiting family in the Cobleskill area. It will be my first place I check for availability when returning to the area.

    Annette2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Karen's place is a cozy, eclectic, warm and very welcoming. We hope it's available the next time we're in Cobleskill!

  • This cozy apartment has everything a person needs for a relaxing getaway. Great bed, kitchen, hot water instantly and TV if it's a must 😃

  • Denise's place is a warm and cozy place to call home if you're hiking and exploring the cliffs and caverns of the region. In addition to a nice functioning kitchen (we cooked for ourselves a couple of times), the coffee and tea was a nice treat. The location is so close to attractions like Vroman's Nose and Secret Caverns too! Mom and I recommend a stay at the Stucco House!

    Ami2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place for a 1 or 2 night stay. Off Street parking with a sign designating the spot. It was raining when we arrived and could not see the sign but if it was a clear day or night it would very easy to see. There is a washer and dryer right insider the the private entrance. Keep your bags light and small. The staircase to the unit is steep and narrow which is typical of old houses. We were extremely pleased with the apartment. Very clean. The kitchen had a selection of coffee and teas. We did not take advantage of all which would capable with the kitchen amenities but it would very comfortable to prepare meals. We only stayed one night but enjoyed it.

    Rw2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Denise’s place is the perfect Air BnB to stay at and she is a wonderful host! The place was easy to find with signs on the property as to where Air BnB guests are to park their vehicle. The apartment is immaculate and sparkling clean with plenty of amenities including a smart TV with Netflix. I absolutely loved the decor of the apartment and the bed was super comfy. I highly recommend Denise’s place and hope to stay there again in the future!

    Kimberly2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • If you are in this area, I would recommend staying with Denise at the Stucco House. It is so much better than most AirBnB's with a real homely feel and all the amenities you would need. Those little extra touches and the desire to please each guest, is a real breathe of fresh air and added to the enjoyment of our vacation.

Stunning 900 square foot apartment in a landmark Historic building built in 1898. Two bedrooms, one queen, one full, full bathroom, den/dining area, galley style kitchen with new range. Beautifully painted, new carpets, new bed frames and mattresses. The absolute nicest and cleanest place to stay in the region!
I purchased this awesome building 18 months ago and have been renovating the top two floors ever since. My own residence is the entire 3rd floor, where I live in 2400 square feet with my dog Balzac, named after the French writer, and two newly adopted cats. I am on site to make sure your stay is perfect in every way. Mine is arguably the best location in the Cobleskill area, and is clean and peaceful. College parents will have a guest room to accommodate their student on those weekend parental visits. Local hotel rooms cannot compare to the clean, simple elegance of Chez Balzac. Welcome.
  • This was our first Airbnb experience and we really enjoyed ourselves! Great communication and hospitality! We would stay again!

    Jill2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place right at the center of Cobleskill. Very clean and organized with everything needed for a short stay. Jeff was very welcoming and did everything he could to help us when we needed.

    Elena2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location in the middle of town. Some great touches such as bread, milk and coffee. Would love to stay again and would recommend to a friend.

    Adam2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff’s place is really cool. Recommend anyone planning a trip to the area staying here.

    Mark2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • No better place to stay in Cobleskill! The apartment is thoughtfully appointed and spotlessly clean. The location is central and the building is charming. Jeff couldn’t be a better and more attentive host. Truly a bargain too!

    Kaja2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place! I was in town for a wedding and stayed here with my family. This is a great location and the communication was excellent. I appreciated the milk for my coffee and Jeffery’s friendliness! If I am ever in the area again I would stay here for sure.

Cute one-bedroom apt between the Catskills and Adirondacks, with a variety of activities in every direction. Full-size bed, full kitchen, cozy living room. Stay includes private access to field trails, pond, lake, and forest.
This charming renovated apartment comprises the ground floor of a two-story 1850’s farmhouse facing a quiet country road and is fully self-contained with a bedroom, bathroom, living room, and large kitchen. Your host lives in a separate but attached house. Your privacy and comfort is my wish, and that you enjoy your own space and the land. This is a place to wake up to peaceful birdsong and soft sunlight streaming into your bedroom. The bedroom is small but cozy with a comfortable full-size bed. The kitchen has appliances and basic supplies to cook your own meals. Just ask if you need anything. The living room has two comfortable couches and a 32-inch flat-screen TV with a DVD player, a selection of movies, and access to local channels, as well as books, magazines, and chess sets from Africa and South America.
The location is on a quiet rural road with a few neighbors nearby. I like to say that the apartment is in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of everything! Apart from enjoying the property and land itself, you will find a variety of activities and attractions within a one-hour drive in any direction: Albany, Schenectady, Historic Sharon Springs, Cooperstown (Glimmerglass Opera, Baseball Hall of Fame, Ommegang Brewery, Fenimore Art Museum, more), Howe Caverns Adventure Park, Secret Caverns, Saratoga Springs (Racetrack and Casino), the Catskills (skiing), the Adirondacks, Landis Arboretum (hiking), the villages of Middleburgh and Schoharie, Vroman’s Nose (hiking), pick-your-own fruit at Bohringer’s Fruit Farm, Wellington’s Herbs and Spices Farm, antique shops, and many local farmers’ markets. All are easy day or half-day trips from your apartment. On the property you may see deer, rabbits, chipmunks, groundhogs, and a variety of seasonal birds including cardinals, purple and yellow finches, swallows, great blue herons, kingfishers, ruby-throated hummingbirds (at your own front yard feeder!), wild turkeys, ducks, pheasants and grouse, owls, and woodpeckers. You may even hear coyotes at night while you are safe in your cozy bed! The pond is always hopping in the warm months with frogs, turtles, and dragonflies. Wildlife varies according to time of year but is always entertaining. The fields and forest are alive with vibrant wildflowers, ferns, and mushrooms and some unique natural landmarks such as streams, climbing vines, lightning-struck and beaver-chewed trees, and natural wetlands teeming with wildlife. The fall foliage is spectacular.
  • Warm welcome with a thorough tour of how everything works. Friendly host who is very accommodating. Loved the home and property.

  • Best place ever- To start off when we got there Andrew remembered me from last time I stayed. But what was even better were the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies that he made for us when we arrived. Andrew was super helpful, pointed out all the important info and the place itself had everything we needed and some extraordinarily comfortable pillows!

    Pauline2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • An enjoyable, peaceful hangout. Lots of interesting nooks and crannies to explore on the property. Nice amenities and comfort for a memorable stay in a beautiful, remote area of upstate New York.

    Paul2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing, cozy place in the heart of the Catskills! Andrew provides a clean, beautiful little cottage with amazing hikes right in your front door (not kidding, really a step away). His welcome and attention through all the stay were outstanding. A great option to stay on that zone. A word for the wise: he has no Wi-Fi, while that might be a flaw for people nowadays, just try and relax without Internet a few days, you will not miss anything , moreover, you´ll be thankful for it!

    Bernardo2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew is one of the best hosts I've had with AirBnb! This house was perfect for my boyfriend and I's 2-night stay. Andrew makes sure to have quick and open communication while still giving us complete privacy. He lives right behind where we staying, attached to the house, but no sound carries at all. The house is SO clean. It's the cleanest AirBnb I've stayed in. The entire property is beautiful. The kitchen has everything we needed for preparing breakfast every day and dinner one night. We didn't have a cellular signal in the house (though we didn't need one for anything), but we all we had to do was exit the driveway and drive up the hill and within a minute we had reception. It was a hot and humid weekend but it was very comfortable in the house having all the windows open. At night, there's an air conditioner in the bedroom which we had on after closing the windows. The check-in process was very easy. We accidentally showed up earlier than expected and Andrew was very understanding and accommodating. He provides thorough instructions on everything in the house and on the property, as well as a bunch of activities in the area with driving directions. So we were all set and prepared for the weekend! Next time we're in the area we will definitely stay again! I recommend this AirBnb!

  • With my girlfriend, we were searching for a quiet and peacefull place to stay for a week. And believe me we searched ! Till we found Andrew's home ! A superb house surrounded by Mother's nature. Andrew is already a superhost and he deserves it ! We had a very nice welcome and Andrew described all the equipments in a very detailled way. There was a basket of fruit, fresh water and ice cream and we were very sensitive to Andrew's thoughtfulness. The kitchen is so nice, so well equiped that you can prepair any recipe that you want. The electric owen is a kind of monster from the 60's very powerful and very professionnal. The bathroom is very pretty and very convenient. The salon and the bedroom are the masterpiece of this house and are very finely decorated. So it's definetly the place to stay upstate ! For those who got worries concerning intimacy, I can assure that the house you're gonna live in is completely separated from Andrew's place which is in the very back of his big "mansion". For a couple, this house is an amazing experience. Thank you Andrew !

  • beautiful area, great tips

    Niko2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew was an outstanding host. always communicating on the way as we got delayed in traffic. His is a place perfect to escape the din and bustle of the big city and unwind in the laps of nature. One can just sit in the deck chair on the backyard overlooking the wooded forest and green undulations of distant mountains and spend hours. Not doing anything particular. Just soaking in the salubrious fresh air, lungful of oxygen. Chirping birds of various kinds including a few friendly hummingbirds keep you company. Andrew's place has travel memorabilia form all over. The place is simple but elegantly decorated. And Andrew is super cool in providing ready tips and suggestions to do stuff around the Mohawk valley. We would definitely go back there.

Sunny Catskill mountain creekside retreat for folks who love to cook, meet the farmers who grow their dinner, hike, savor local spirits & read beside a fire. Please note: due to Covid-19, we are devoting extra attention to disinfecting frequently touched surfaces between stays.
Looking for air conditioning, ironed sheets, fast food and great shopping? Don't come. If you prefer to snuggle under an organic wool comforter while sipping mountain air from an open window; skinny dipping in a local swimming hole; staying in to cook after buying your ingredients from the farmer who grew them...If you like to read beside a fire, consider how a cricket's song changes with the temperature, or sip your morning coffee while dipping your toes into a mountain stream...If you would use your holiday time to ponder life's big questions, maybe with a few strangers-turned-friends; and if you prefer to tell your office mates that there's no cell service where you're going, we've got your dream vacation. Your holiday home is the second floor of the heartbeat of our little community, just above our post office and the Sap Bush Hollow Farm-To-Table Cafe, Farm Store & Espresso bar, open year round Saturdays 9-12, and Sat-Sun 9-1 for July and August. (Sorry. We can't stay open all week, 'cuz we're out skinny dipping in those swimming holes, too. But if we hear you coming, we'll get dressed and act nonchalant. Promise.) If you're into eating seasonally, this is great town to take advantage of the harvest. Sap Bush Hollow sells beef, lamb, pork, homemade sausages & bacon and poultry to bring home for your freezer. And you can buy tomatoes, cukes and all kinds of fruits and vegetables for canning, freezing & pickling just down the road. Coming in winter? We can point you to the best places in our vast network of state land to snowshoe or x-c ski. You'll have to drive about an hour if you're looking for downhill skiing. This is a great place to watch winter sunrises, or to behold the under-appreciated pleasures of mud season (no one's around. It's quiet. Frost on mud makes cool patterns....We could go on for hours about this.) The 3 bedroom 1400 sq ft apartment has a large eat-in kitchen/dining living room area, hardwood floors, gas fireplace, and a private back porch overlooking Panther Creek. We're serious cooks, so we've made sure your kitchen is equipped well.(Don't you hate vacation rentals with dull knives and no coffee grinder??). And when it comes to a good nights' rest, we've got you covered. Literally. The comforters, and blankets are made from our own fleeces, and the pillows are, too! Please note: Guests are asked to sign a contract agreeing to the house rules as they are posted in this listing upon making a reservation.
Welcome to West Fulton, a northern Catskill mountain hamlet where your neighbors care more about the freshness of their sweet corn than they do about cars and fashion. Come here for the quiet, the creeks, the swimming holes, the hills, the hiking and the farms. Nearest grocery store can be found in Cobleskill, 15 min. drive from your pad. There's also a movie theater, pottery studio and restaurants there...Also great restaurants and beer tasting room the other direction in Middleburgh, just 15 minutes in the other direction. We are 50 minutes from Cooperstown, and 20 minutes from Sharon Springs. The beautiful Hudson Valley is a stunning 1 hour drive, and Albany is 45 minutes away. Cobleskill Fairgrounds: 9.2 miles, 19 min. Windham Mountain Ski Center: 47 minute drive Hunter Mountain Ski Center: 51 minute drive Blenheim Hill Farm is 14 miles away, about 25-30 minute drive. Howe Caverns is 15.1 miles away, about 25-30 minute drive.
  • This place has it all- an absolutely cozy feel, lots of special touches like farm fresh eggs in the kitchen and amazing wool blankets, and it's near many nice hiking trails. It was the perfect place to relax, cook, unwind and have fun outdoors. I would absolutely stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

  • Beautiful place with a little park right down the street. The bathroom blew me away. Not saying the whole place didnt just wasn't expecting such an amazing looking bathroom

  • This was one of the best airbnbs I have ever stayed at, and for the price, definitely the best value. The space is very beautiful and very spacious. The amenities are extensive; there was nothing missing. The photos don’t do justice to the beauty of the interior; I am sensitive to good lighting and the lighting is very nicely designed. You will not be disappointed by staying in this wonderful spot!

  • Sap Bush Farm AirBNB is first rate lodging in the most beautiful upland valley of Schoharie County. The associated Cafe offers an exquisite brunch and dinner on Saturdays. The refined hospitality and dining in the remote setting must be experienced to be believed.

  • This is our second stay and it was just as clean and comfortable as we remembered it. Highly recommended.

  • This was the fourth time I’ve stayed at Shannon’s place and it’s been lovely every time.

    Gene Schmidt2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • West Fulton is a hidden gem. The stuff you find in storybooks, really. And we had the most wonderful experience— made possible by Shannon and her lovely family—A hearty meal at the coolest cafe downstairs, amazing hospitality and the dreamiest stay in the apartment upstairs. The apartment was cozy, homey, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed and more. Our whole stay dreamy- From sitting by the living room wood stove, to standing out on the deck to take in the view of the running creek. What a sweet sweet place...

Keyless entry. The home has been sanitized as of 26MAR2020. All sheets, Towels, Silverware are new. New shampoos, conditioners, & soaps for ea guest. Hand Sanitizer available. The world has put a lot on restriction; however this beautiful Art home has gorgeous hiking at Vroman's Nose nearby. Down the street from Village of Cobleskill; a charming welcoming village. Close to Baseball Hall of Fame, Howe's Cavern, Albany (State Capital) + more. Now is the time to see New York's great rural areas.
Truly Magnificent! Previously an appliance store; I integrated new with the old, as it has its own story. Remodled; and always in works for improvement.
Quiet neighborhood, the folks are friendly and the Village of Cobleskill is welcoming. Five minute walk up a hill and the views are amazing. Wildlife is abundant and when night time comes and the sky is clear the stars light up everything!

A charming 2 story Victorian with 4 bedrooms and 2 bath is waiting for your stay. Sleeps 7 but room for air mattresses (available) should you need more space. 3 bedrooms have queen mattresses and 1 bedroom has a twin. House is fully stocked with kitchen and bathroom supplies, including hair dryers. Near Cooperstown & Dreams Park (30-45 minutes away), Capital district (45 minutes away) & train ride to/from NYC and Boston (3.5 hour drive away)
This home is located on a side road off of Main Street and is within walking distance of many of the village's amenities- movie theater, restaurants, shops, bookstore, coffee shop, ice cream shops, walking paths and parks. The house is a quirkey set up which is common for old victorians. The three upstairs bedrooms have connecting doors ( GREAT if you have children who want to feel close yet in their own space). The one large bathroom upstairs has 2 entrances- one is through the bedrooms and the 2nd is up the backstairs through the laundry room. The downstairs bathroom is accessible in the kitchen- a much smaller bathroom but with a full shower, sink and toilet. The only bedroom downstairs is off the kitchen, has a twin bed, couch and cable TV. I am constantly updating and rearranging the set up to best meet the needs of my guests...most recent update including the adding of bed space and making sure all upstairs bedrooms had queen sized beds. The backyard is a work in progress- we are always adding new landscaping and plants. We hope you are happy with the results of all of our work.
The street will have normal business day traffic as there are a number of shops and local amenities nearby being utilized. It is a family neighborhood so there are many families riding bikes, walking dogs and saying hello.
  • Dove's place was so much fun and exactly as described! Our son was participating in Cooperstown DreamPark and we had grandparents traveling to see the games. Having Dove's place gave us room to relax and enjoy each other without being confined to a hotel. It had absolutely everything we needed and it felt like being home! We especially enjoyed the back porch and the fire pit! Cobleskill is a great little town. It is about 45 minutes away from Cooperstown, but it was a beautiful and enjoyable ride! Thanks Dove!!! We'll definitely be back!!!!

    Lisa2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great house, in a great small town. Old victorian-ish, lots of room, the back and front porches invite you to sit a spell and watch the world go by for a bit. Dove was quickly responsive, the house had many amenities if you forgot something, or just wanted a cup of coffee or tea in the morning. Lovely home, lovely town, great location.

    Meg2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Dove is a very welcoming and helpful host. The neighborhood is very quiet for a good night's sleep on the comfy beds. House is very conveniently located. House has a relaxed, easy feel. Thank you to Dove and Brian.

    Jennifer2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first Airbnb rental so we don’t have anything to compare it to. Dove was very attentive to us from the beginning to the end. She was quick to reply and very helpful. As mentioned, this is an old house with a lot of charm. Keep in mind that old houses with charm have their quirks. We live in one. If you read the guest book, the quirky things are explained. I agree that if you have a hard time with stairs, it may be a difficult place to stay. Having said that, we very much enjoyed our stay. And it was perfect for our family of 6.

    Lonnie2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Dove’s house was so warm and cozy! It was like a home away from home. Dove was a picture perfect host - communicative, welcoming, and accommodating. I highly recommend staying with her :)

  • This is a great stay and the host is working to add even more extra amenities to the camp. The page doesn’t do this place justice. Beautiful scenery, lots of things to do, and great communication with the host. He goes out of his way to make it a good stay; even had a fire going for us when we arrived the first night. Will come again!

  • Quite a place! The location is next to a small private airfield, so there is plenty of wide-open space to hike around, along with an old open-top control tower that makes the perfect place to sit and read while you survey the surroundings. Definitely staying here again when I'm back in upstate New York!

This country charmer is just that-- a simple, rustic cottage situated on a serene natural reservoir and beautiful valley. Bright and airy, the home is located on a dead end road with a wholesome 3 acres overlooking beautiful rolling hills in every direction. The master bedroom and study is upstairs while the ground level with its exposed beams is home to a smaller guest bedroom, bathroom, living and kitchen/dining.
If you’re looking for luxury and spotless modern amenities, this one is probably not for you! You’ve gotta love the quirks and imperfections of this old colonial farmhouse to appreciate its true glory. Enjoy the protected farmland views from the front porch or the outdoor picnic table sitting below a pair of majestic old willow trees. Fish, hike or just chill out. Going skiing is easy: about 50 mins to Windham Mountain! This place is perfect for a quiet romantic getaway or even a solo retreat to read and be in the stillness of the Northern Catskills. We’re always adding updates and improvements to this old beauty. Please enjoy the low nightly rate while we continue to improve. Don't be surprised if you hear rustles of wild animals outside from time to time. Or spot a cobweb or two. The charm of this classic colonial farmhouse is what keeps it unique.
5 minutes to the village of Cobleskill and 15 mins to village of Middleburgh. Cute restaurants, cafes, grocery, bars, farmers markets, antiques and laundry. Not to mention incredible hikes and nature!
  • This is the perfect place to go if you are looking for a quiet, secluded getaway. The scenery is beautiful, and it is a great place to relax. Brian suggested places to eat, and we weren't disappointed.

    Jennifer2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem! From the moment we corresponded with Brian we knew this was going to be a special trip. My partner and I wanted a weekend in nature and Brian’s cottage is beyond stunning. A gorgeous, historic cottage at the edge of a natural reservoir surrounded by hills - this is the dream getaway! The house is really cute with some lovely furniture and real attention to detail. I work in the art world and noticed there were some very good contemporary art works on view too. The place is spotless and has great views from all the back rooms of the beautiful environs (think I spotted a Bald Eagle in the tree from our bedroom..). It’s also incredibly comfortable and quiet - we slept a good 10 hours each night and woke up to the sound of the wind rustling the willow trees and bird song. This place is great for exploring the northern catskhills and is easy to access from New York City. My favorite nearby town is Middleburgh, a short drive with a great restaurant and delightful bookshop. We also got to hike nearby Roman’s Nose and had a morning skiing at nearby Windham Mountain. We returned to NYC thoroughly rested and reinvigorated. Thank you Brian and we’ll be back!!

Enjoy a peaceful, private stay in our studio. Located in the heart of downtown Cobleskill, we are steps away from restaurants, shops, SUNY Cobleskill, the movie theater, and Center Park. We're also a great place to stay for visits to Howe Caverns, Cooperstown, and Albany. Rest comfortably in our historic village and enjoy the picturesque scenery of Schoharie County. Our studio is great for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers, but we are not able to accommodate more than 2 guests.
Our studio has a private entrance, full bathroom, queen size bed, and kitchenette.
  • The location of the apartment (walking distance to "downtown Cobleskill", cleanliness and John's hospitality were the standout features. The apartment is as advertised, we had no trouble at all.

    Carol2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at John’s place! The studio was clean, quiet & had everything one would need. The studio was located within walking distance to restaurants & SUNY Cobleskill. John was super friendly & made me feel right at home! I mentioned to John that I couldn’t drink caffeine & he brought me decaf coffee, how sweet! One of the best parts of the stay had to be the homemade muffins! Holy cow! The muffins were outstanding. Not to mention John’s wife, Marylin, baked me a whole tray of muffins to take to work on the last day of my visit. This place is highly recommended if you want to feel right at home. Cannot wait to visit in December!

  • Mindy was a great host; she had timely and friendly communication. The location is perfect for a couple looking to enjoy time near the Catskills. It is cozy (the pictures are very accurate) and well stocked with all the amenities one expects in the kitchen and bathroom. We were also happy to find plenty of supplies to make an outdoor fire. The cabin is located about 12 minutes from Main St, Middleburgh with plenty eateries, shops and a market. There are some nice hikes within about 30 minutes drive. We had a great weekend and would definitely stay again.

  • Mindy's place is perfect for 2 guests! We spent a lot of time sitting outside, listening to crickets and frogs, watching birds at the feeders. If you have any questions, the family will graciously answer.

  • Mindy’s place was perfect for a couples trip to the mountains. Very close to the local diner and lots of cool nature things. Check out Vernon’s Nose if you’re into hiking. Bed was super comfy for a good nights rest. Would def stay again!

  • Mindy's home offered the perfect escape! Nestled in a remote area several miles from town, I enjoyed the sounds of the birds, crickets, and the sight of the stars at night. It was a pleasure to relax to sounds of nature and the sight of greenery out the window. I felt like I truly got away from it all! I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the bed and pillows and the soft texture of the sheets. At 6 months pregnant, it can be difficult for me to sleep well, but I was perfectly comfortable. Mindy was helpful, communicative, and accommodating. I found exactly the experience I was looking for and plan on returning the next time I need a little escape from the city.

  • Clare’s place is magical. Pictures really don’t do it justice! It’s completely off-grid, so great for the environmentally conscious. The view is so relaxing and beautiful. Breakfast materials are provided which is thoughtful as it’s a few miles to the nearest groceries. Highly recommend for anyone looking to escape the city and immerse in nature.

    Melissa2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a magical place and Clare is the most thoughtful host. From the flower arrangements, to the local tips, to the jar full of tiny biscuits to go with your morning coffee (and yes, Clare is a coffee drinker, so if you are too, you will appreciate that she grinds the coffee fresh and provides cream in addition to milk!) and the tea lights on the patio. Even as I write this, I know that my words are falling short of my newfound love for this cottage and this very special place. Come and let your soul soak up all of the beauty that is here just waiting for you.

  • Our time spent at Clare's place was unforgettable. The pictures available do not do it justice, the view is spectacular and the cabin is perfect. It was easy to pretend we were in a fairy tale. We wish we could stay again soon!

    Ryan2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Clare has created a truly unique getaway with the three quaint and cozy cabins and grounds that all make up the "Little Green Cottage". The view is spectacular! The setting is stunning. There are hiking trails around the property that Clare showed us, that are gorgeous and full of wildlife. We saw many critters from several birds (heard some owls, but didn't see them), squirrels, chipmunks, wild turkeys, and more. The cabins are so thoughtfully designed, and allow for privacy with the separate bath house and kitchen cabins. Clare is an excellent host; she gave us tons of info on local attractions and provided great breakfast foods, coffee, teas, etc. We were spoiled for choice when it came to cozy outdoor areas to relax and unwind, with seating and umbrella on the front main cabin porch, to the stone wall and fire-pit, or the swinging chair, or the table for two in front of the kitchen cabin. Everything was so thoughtfully done. This has raised the bar for Airbnb stays. Clare was incredibly responsive and provided great instructions on how everything works in the eco-friendly getaway she created. We also loved the local attractions from Ryan's Scrumpy Ewe Cider Shack to Camp HereHere for drinks/dinner. Sap Bush Hollow Cafe and Farm are not to be missed. I'd love to return for a longer stay. This is the perfect place to get away from it all and meditate, write, relax and star-gaze.

    Amiee2018-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • As a solo traveler looking to get away from the city, this was the perfect place. The cottage is on Clare’s property, but it’s secluded, peaceful, and graced with a beautiful calming vista. I also liked the “rustic” nature of the stay. Clare was a lovely, responsive host who shared a few recommendations for nearby restaurants—which did not disappoint.

    Rebecca2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time staying in Airbnb house. Honestly, I never imagined how Airbnb works, but I had perfect beginning because of Clare’s cottage. I cannot even express my thankful emotion in written language. I just met the best host. She is reaaaaaaally kind person. Even though I arrived there a little late, she explained every detail thing to us. And she gave us lots of fresh vegetables from her own yard on second day. Also, she wrote the memo about some farm markets for our convenience. The whole cottage was very clean, and it was exactly same with the pictures in the website. (I must say real view is way better than picture) We had a precious time in there with nature sounds. If someone who really wants to escape from the concrete forest, I fully recommend Clare’s cottage for your recharging energy. I I hope I can go there again.:)

This converted barn is close to Howe Caverns, Cooperstown and Albany, NY, and is situated between the Catskill and Adirondack mountains on top of the legendary Vroman's Nose. It affords, great views and a private setting that is like unto a small resort. It is family-friendly and comfortable. You’ll love it for the amenities, hiking and activities, the quaint towns and farm land. If you want to get away from the city and take in the beauty of the land, this is the place to visit.
The home is a converted barn that still sports stables in 1/3 of the building. There is a theatre, workout room, two living rooms and a secret play room for the kids. There's nothing like it anywhere. It's completely unique.
There are only three houses on top of the mountain with us. The other two houses sit on top of the view of the valley and have horses. Although they don't mind us sharing our home with you, they prefer their privacy so headed to their property for the view or to pet the horses is not permitted. We ask our guests to stay on our property to keep neighbor relations at their highest.
  • Amy's house is a gem -- more than enough space for our group of 11 adult friends to spend a winter weekend. The home theater was a highlight for group games, as was the lovely, light filled living room and the well-equipped kitchen. We'd love to come back.

    Robin2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible place for a weekend getaway with friends. The barn is beautiful and spacious, with great functional common areas. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook huge meals for 10 people. The hot tub, gym, movie theater, etc. added to an already exceptional experience. I would highly recommend staying here. It is truly special.

  • Amy’s place was an absolutely wonderful space to spend time away with a large group of friends. The kitchen was large and roomy, so group meals came together easily and the outdoor space (especially the pool and fire pit) offered space to spread out. I would recommend this place to anyone and we’re already talking about returning next summer.

THIS IS A HOUSE IN THE COUNTRY. If you are looking for a spectacular place to enjoy the Fall, you will love the breathtaking colors abounding. For those of you who live in the city, it is a particularly wonderful reprieve. This house is high on hill above a magnificently bountiful, beautiful valley The house has swimming both indoors and out.... a 100'diam pond in Summer; and an indoor pool 40' long, for year around pleasure. The view is private and spectacular.
The house faces the south and the east with spectacular sunrises and sun all day. It has large deck and walkway covered with a wisteria arbor to provide both beauty and shade. It is magical place to sit an eat both day and night in good weather. It is the perfect place to enjoy water both inside and out. The house has an indoor lap pool, 40' long, with windows all along the side and beautiful streaks of sunlight on the water. The furnishings are warm, contemporary and comfortable. The rooms are arranged so that one bedroom and bathroom are near the pool at one end of the house, and the other two bedrooms and bathroom are at the end of the house. This gives everyone some privacy. The center is the living room, kitchen, and dining room. The living room has a large working wood burning stove. The kitchen is beautiful and fun to cook in. It easily accommodates a few people. The dining room table is perfect for eight. The house has high, open ceilings with fans. There is a great cross breeze throughout. There is tv and wifi, and Bose speaker to plug in your music. There is a dish washer, and washer and dryer. There is cell phone reception from most providers. There is a carport with firewood and outdoor grill. There's a long driveway that accommodates 3 cars.
Many people are not familiar with Schoharie County do not view it as a destination. Maybe that's true. But, that's the point. It's app. 150 miles north west of NYC, driving either the thruway or the Taconic most of the way. It's best if you have a few days spend. Stay for a week or two, and spend some time wandering. If you're a history buff, there's plenty of it. Middleburgh, the closest town, was established in 1712. And, you'll be well situated to take side trips to Cooperstown, Sharon Springs, Saratoga Springs, Woodstock, Hudson, Albany and my new favorite side trip, MassMOCA is less than 2 hours away.
  • Jan's place is truly great. Secluded, no visible neighbors. There's a Walmart 15 minutes away so you can do all your shopping there. The deck and the lake are amazing, we spent 5 days just lying around there. Kitchen is big and great for cooking in the evenings. Would def come again.

  • Jan's home in Middleburgh is in a beautiful secluded location. We enjoyed a wonderful Memorial Day weekend there recently and my teenagers enjoyed swimming in the pond and playing wiffleball on the lawn. The house was very clean and the kitchen is modern. The town of Middleburgh is very quaint too and an added bonus was the sloughter 5k which was on while we were there so there were live bands playing in the streets and an outdoor BBQ at the microbrewery.

  • What an amazing place. We want to say thank you to Jan. She was there to greet us and spent some time showing us around the house. House is beautiful, the lap pool is amazing, wood burning firplace adds a nice touch to a country feel. Kitchen was very nice, enough area to prepare and cook meals. Beds are comfortable. House fits 6 people comfortably. We were able to sit outside on her deck and just look out to the mountains, weather was nice, on our last day it did snow a little and it was beautiful. If you want to get away from the city this is the place, beautiful, quiet and peaceful!

  • Jan's home was truly wonderful. It's a very perfect location, 4 minutes from a few local farmers and 6-7 minutes from main street, good restaurants and a large grocer. Super cozy spot, with a great view. We used the fire place and cooked on the grill. So happy we stayed :)

  • Jan was very helpful and informative. Rhonda, Jan's caretaker, was extremely helpful and gave some tips on things to do in the area and on how to use certain amenities around the house. The house and pond were beautiful, there were plenty of stars to see at night, and there are various outdoor activities you can do nearby.

  • Jan's home is exquisite. The view of the mountains while floating in her private pond, was breathtaking and the water was refreshing. The pool in the house was so wonderful and a great touch. My boyfriend is disabled and was able to get around home with ease and used the pool for his physical therapy. I tanned in the yard and read a book on the sunny days w a view for miles. The 2 bathrooms are very convenient and 1 with a steam shower for a perfect end of day after swimming. My dog loved the property and ran and smiled all day. The hospitality was fantastic as was the privacy. Jan or Rhonda were always available if needed. They even left me dog dishes. It was great to have a washer dryer. The fans keep the house cool as the temperature drops in the evening. I loved the kitchen , I took pictures of it. I loved making meals there. The views are just awesome. Vrohmans nose was a great hike and view. I also visited Howes caverns. Jan left us bug spray and plenty of citronella candles for those humid afternoons. On the days it rained we set up camp in the huge carport and watched the storms and played board games. The diners are right down the mountain for any lazy cooks. The farmers markets are very convenient, I also suggest buying some fudge from "Under the Nose" the little shop under the mountain. It was very quaint and delicious. All instructions for house were left for me and very easy to follow. I will go back to Jans home again and recommend to anyone looking for a scenic relaxing getaway. Put your feet up bring a book and some wine, you wont regret it! Fabulous 5 stars from me. Shannon

  • I love the casual elegance of this beautiful country home. It is amazingly well-equipped: I brought with me all the supplies to bake a birthday cake, and then learned all the kitchen tools I needed were already there (they even have the same electric mixer that I have!). Beds are comfortable and the towels are thick and soft. Rhonda, the caretaker, was warm and welcoming and easy to reach when we needed help. We were visiting family in the area, but the emergence of the farm-to-table trend has created wonderful opportunities for farm stands and restaurants--reason enough to visit the area. Also plenty of hiking opportunities and swimming holes in the Schoharie Creek for cooling off on hot summer days.

  • All the previous reviews are spot on. Beautiful property on vast farmland, not much around (markets, etc. are a short drive away) and that's exactly what made our stay so memorable. Super responsive & kind hosts, well stocked kitchen, the screened-in porch is perfect for sitting around w/ friends, and the rooms are cozy w/ comfortable beds and clean sheets. Hanging out in the barn was great also, and it sounds really good in there (same for the speaker system in the main house)! Can't wait to go back!

  • Everything about our stay was wonderful. From the dreamy landscape to the perfectly curated decor of this cozy home, this is a home I would highly recommended for a retreat from the every day hustle. Corey was a wonderful host and it was very easy to get ahold of someone with even the most simple of questions.

  • This is a lovely old farm and is what is is billed to be. It is serene, and has a warmth that only and old house can provide. We were there in very hot weather but the country breeze found its way through the house. It was wonderful for our family to gather around a lovely dining room table and big kitchen. The porch was perfect for the morning quiet coffee. I hope we can go back- I think fall would be great.

The rooms are bright, with painted wood floors and clean white walls. The yard on the bridge side has been transformed into a lush terrace with ground cover and local creek stones. The adjacent park extends seamlessly from the property line.
HISTORY & LOCATION “The Smithy” is a property in Schoharie County – one of the most verdant, untouched, and wide-ranging landscapes of upstate New York. The tiny hamlet of West Fulton lies at the crossroads of the county in the far northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Here the steep land rising up in both directions from the northbound Schoharie Creek starts to give way beyond the striking summit of Vroman’s Nose, a hiker’s paradise, to the rolling hills and valleys of the north. West Fulton was once known as Sapbush Hollow due to its abundant maple trees and serene vantage point, nestled into a glen between Rossman Hill and the incline further up to Patria State Forest. It is one of several hamlets that make up the larger town of Fulton, first settled around 1715. The simple house was originally built as a blacksmith’s shop in the 1800’s. It is situated on a small plot along the county road, near a little bridge that crosses the rushing Panther Creek, and just beside a public park that’s home to a single-room schoolhouse. In the 1930’s a second floor “apartment” was created above the crossbeams, which eventually became living quarters for the growing family that built it. THE SMITHY TODAY The house has undergone a slow and steady renovation, converting the lower level workspace into livable quarters and integrating it with the upper floor to create a cozy, year-round retreat. The rooms are simple and bright, with painted wood floors and clean white walls, and the small yard on the bridge side has been transformed into a lush little terrace with ground cover and local creek stones that seem they’ve been there forever. The adjacent acre-plus park to the east extends seamlessly from the property line, which is like having a great big yard without having to mow. Due to the house’s proximity to the road there is always easy access in the winter snow. On the first floor of the house you enter a spacious mudroom or den, where the old shop window frames a view of the center hall colonial across the street. Beyond this lies a large living and dining space, a storage room, a bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a sunny kitchen featuring open shelves, a double farm-sink, a dishwasher, custom pantry, and a vintage stove and refrigerator. The second floor holds two sunny bedrooms at the front, and a shaded bedroom “suite” at the back roomy enough for two full beds and a cozy twin bed nook within a converted closet space. There is also a laundry room, the original bathroom, and a central open area at the top of the stairs that was originally the kitchen, and now functions as a communal reading space or playroom. The house features new doors, new cast-iron radiators, and new energy-efficient double-hung wood windows throughout, as well as a brand new standing-seam roof.
“The Smithy” is approximately 150 miles from New York City, 60 miles from Woodstock, 55 miles from Albany, 45 miles from Hudson, 40 miles from Hunter, 35 miles from Cooperstown, 30 miles from Windham, 25 miles from Roxbury, and 20 miles from Sharon Springs. The most direct route from New York City is I-87 North to Exit 21, which is where you would land off the Rip Van Winkle Bridge if coming over from Hudson and Columbia County. From here take Route 23 west to Route 145, and follow Route 145 northwest through the town of Middleburgh. Just over the bridge head south on Route 30 until immediately past the Max V. Shaul State Park, where you take a right onto West Fulton Road and drive up to the hamlet. If you have a little extra time, the favored route from New York City would be straight through the heart of Catskill Park. To go this route exit I-87 at Kingston, and take Route 28 west, past Phoenicia, all the way to Margaretville. From here take Route 30 north past Roxbury, Grand Gorge, and Gilboa. At North Blenheim, home of the longest wooden single-span covered bridge in the United States, take a left onto Bear Ladder Road, heading up the mountain, until you dead-end at West Fulton Road. Take a left, and you will enter the hamlet a few miles straight ahead.
  • Smithy house (and the surrounding area) is a luxurious surprise tucked into the heart of a (well-paved) mountain road. From the unique & tasteful decor (planarian diagrams and Edison cylinder phonograph!) to the posh hotel-grade amenities (a real tub!), Smithy house was a great base of operations to hike the region, visit the local attractions, or just relax. In the heat of summer, the house naturally remained pleasantly cool. Kat was easy to contact, easy-going, and left plenty of information to ease our stay. I would recommend staying at the Smithy to relax in the Catskills in style and comfort.
