  • Great rental! Thank you, Deneen, for helping make our Christmas family get together so easy!

  • Such a cute place! Definitely hoping to come back in the summer and enjoy the lake!

  • This is just the sweet lake slide getaway we were needing. Less than an hour from the cities, but felt like the north woods. The geese, ducks, and swans kept us company. Beds and pillows were comfy, as was the living room with its gas stove and picture window onto the lake. Felt private, even though there were neighbors carefully screened by fences. We would live to come back.

  • What a lovey cabin! Right on the water, gorgeous views at sunrise and sunset especially. Perfect for a getaway from the twin cities!

    Caitlin2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin/home is cozy and spacious. The views are spectacular! Inside it feels like you're perched right over the water. We got to see lots of birds (ducks, eagles, songbirds), and at night tons of stars and a bit of aurora glow on the horizon. Deneen is a great host and made us feel at home.

  • This home was large and perfect for a family looking for a place to stay. Though numerous adults could stay, it is probably better suited for a family with children. Nice open house, clean, organized, quiet neighborhood. 3 large bathrooms and a huge kitchen. Nick was very responsive to all emails and questions. Bonus: there was a super loving adorable kitty.

    Heather2019-10-13T00:00:00Z

    Howard Lake, MN, United States

Deer Lake is a quiet 163-acre lake < 2 miles from downtown Buffalo's wonderful antique & occasional shops. Perfect for relaxing getaways. Included:dorm sized refrigerator, microwave, toaster, Keurig, 50,000 BTU heater, tv with DVD & Amazon Fire Stick no cable, lakeside firepit, canoe, one kayak, hot tub, beautiful 4 poster bed & more. We have an OUTDOOR portable toilet with motion activated lights for night time visits & our unique OUTDOOR showering facilities with a sink (both with hot water).
The Boathouse is the ultimate ‘glamping’ (glamour camping) space! Relax on the couch, look out of the French doors to see a beautiful lake view complete with a firepit area with supplied firewood. The cozy studio space is wonderfully inviting with red brick walls, open rafters to the vaulted ceiling and lots of charm! A beautiful four-poster queen-sized bed will help you relax, cuddle and snooze while listening to the birds in the trees and rain on the roof (weather permitting). Cool weather? We have a 50,000 BTU propane gas heater in the boathouse to warm it up for Airbnb guests any time of year. The front has a 'fire-like' look to add to the cozy ambiance. Warm weather? An oscillating fan & a whole house fan to pull the hot air off the ceiling and a small window air conditioner all to make you more comfortable. Our unique OUTDOOR bathroom facilities have a fun twist that makes the experience ‘rustic.’ PLEASE NOTE- ‘1/2 bath’ includes our OUTDOOR shower and portable OUTDOOR potty. This is as close as we could come to an accurate description ~! Trust us, ‘Glamping’ ROCKS! Finally- if need be, you are always welcome inside our home to use our facilities -just ask. During warm weather... Our outdoor shower with porcelain sink, displayed ‘art’ and solar powered mood lighting (so you can see easily in the darkness) for nighttime can’t be missed. Our guests agree that rustic ‘glamping’ with outdoor showering in this space is unexpectedly wonderful, liberating and beautiful. All weather... We have contracted to have a new ‘Mini Biff’ outdoor potty that is completely serviced ONCE per week. This includes a complete wipe down and fresh holding tank water, chemicals, etc. We have motion detector lights so that you won’t be in the dark no matter the time of day. Solar lights outside make it easy to navigate your way after dark.
We are one-half mile from Deer Lake Apple Orchard on County Road 108 in Marysville Township. Our property ends at a small fishing bridge that spans the entrance to the crow river system. Directly on the other side of the bridge is a handy public boat landing! You need a car to enjoy Buffalo and the surrounding area. The dock is very nice, sturdy and complete with two fun heavy wooden Adirondack chairs for you to rest in while you fish, drink your morning coffee or sip a cocktail and read your favorite novel. Some of the wildlife you may see and enjoy: swans, pelicans, mergansers. geese, hummingbirds, and more. You might even see jumping fish right off of the dock... Our honeymooners from last Spring caught the following fish off of the dock: sunnies, bass, walleye, catfish, northern pike, and various panfish. We so love this place we are lucky enough to call home. Airbnb has provided us the perfect vehicle to share it with all of you. We can’t wait for you to get here:)
  • Kris and Joe We’re exceptional hosts, they made our stay very easy and comfortable. This is a great place to come if you just want a quiet weekend getaway. The outdoor shower was an experience the view is breathtaking. My boyfriend and I had a great time stargazing at night and sitting by the fire. Thanks Kris and Joe for the hospitality !

    Becky2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Joe & Kris exceeded my expectations by a long shot. I’m pretty easy to please but I felt spoiled staying here. They were very easy to get ahold of & frankly they thought of everything, I never needed to ask questions about anything. The ambience upon walking into house was so magical & welcoming. I loved all the details inside as well as the personal touches that made everything feel like home. We loved every single minute of this first time getaway after 9 yrs together. Can’t wait to come again because this was too amazing to not visit again. The outdoor shower was amazing all itself, that experience was liberating & so cool. I loved the quiet intimacy of the entire space & experience. It was unlike anything I’d ever done or even thought of. Great replace for an escape away from the kids for a couple days.

    Shannon2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Second time we’ve stayed here & it never disappoints! Our 6 year old daughter loved fishing off the dock & we always enjoy the apple orchard up the street. It’s the perfect getaway from the city & Joe/Kris are the nicest people! Don’t hesitate booking this little gem of a place.

    Alexandra2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • If you are at all considering this place, book it NOW. Everything is as advertised or better. We could not have asked for a cozier space to spend a misty chilly day. Endless things to do inside, hot tub warm and ready, and so many fun options in downtown Buffalo. Joe and Kris are wonderful hosts and thought of everything we didn’t. Do it do it do it!

    Maggie2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were there only one night for a wedding we had in the next town. This cute little Boathouse gave us everything we needed. We wish we had at least a day more to enjoy some of the added amenities like the hot tub. If we are ever in the area again we would love to stay again.

    Betty2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, quaint boathouse with a great view which allows dogs with approval. Recommended.

    Jon2019-09-28T00:00:00Z

Wellsprings is a beautiful 40 acre, eco-friendly retreat farm. A wonderful, healing place for individuals or small groups. Rent 1 to 3 separate, lovely unique cabins or even the whole farm. The Prairie Dome is our largest cabin with a double bed in the loft with skylight. Beautiful! The Wellness Center is great place to gather with kitchenette, sauna, library, chapel, bathroom/shower. Wellsprings has a labyrinth in the native prairie, a small lake for swimming/boating & walking paths.
There are 3 individual and separate cabins/hermitages. For groups larger than 6 or renting the whole farm please contact us directly. All cabins are self-catering with environmentally friendly compost toilets. Each include microwave, coffeemaker, small refrigerator, hot plate, dishes, cookware, linens, blankets, towels, coffee/tea etc. They each have a fireplace and baseboard heat for winter and air conditioner and fans for summer. The only thing one needs to bring is personal items and food for lunch/dinner. Breakfast food is complimentary and available at your convenience in the Wellness Center. There is also a wonderful library full of books, cd's of music and spiritual material and meditative/mandala coloring books. There is plenty of space for crafting, yoga, programs or just talking. Upon arrival each guest signs in at the Wellness Center and picks up a small jug of water to take to their cabin/hermitage since there is no running water in the cabins themselves. The cabins/hermitages are all accessible by car and are in close walking distance of the Wellness Center, the central building. Check out our website.

  • We had a great experience at Patricia's place! She was very responsive to messages and the check-in was easy. The cabin is just as cute as it looks in the pictures and the view of the lake is stunning! The beds were comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. We ventured to Annandale and had a delicious dinner at Jules. We would go back again!

    Heather2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was hands down my best Airbnb experience . From the stunning peaceful location to the cabin that was stocked with everything you could need , this was the perfect place to stay . Not to mention the hosts are outstanding . We forgot our fishing poles at home and they were so kind as to let us borrow there’s, came early to bring them to the cabin and all . We loved our stay here and hopefully will be visiting again in the future !

    Erica2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Patricia's place was great. A quiet, secluded lake house with great amenities, super clean and relaxing. A perfect place to spend a few days unwinding outside of the city!

  • Adorable place, you can tell a lot of care was put into making this a most beautiful cabin. And it felt brand new too. Very clean (and I am pretty ocd with hotel cleanliness). Was so nice that refreshments were provided so we could share them with our family that stopped by. We even took advantage of some of the games which I usually wouldn't bother with :) There are iron water stains in the bathroom but you know what it is so its not bothersome. Hot tip: bring a case of bottled water for drinking and making coffee if you're not used to MN water. Starbucks coffee grounds are provided! If you need groceries and you're coming from the North, get them in St. Cloud ~ 45 min away. We didn't, as we figured we would just go to breakfast. We went to Homestyle Cafe in Annandale, 7.5 miles away, a standard breakfast joint. During the day we were in Cokato so we got lunch at Lucky Kitchen (chinese) which was good for a quick meal, if not that flavorful. On the way home we stopped in St. Cloud.

  • This cabin was exactly what my wife and I needed as a getaway for our 12th anniversary. We live in the Twin Cities and appreciated the absolute quiet this cabin offers. The attention to detail in the decor is a great touch to the experience. This host's generosity was very much appreciated from the use of her canoe to the small bags of popcorn upon entry. We could not have asked for more and hope to return to this amazing getaway again in the future.

45 min w of Mpls, this private guest house is lofted; virtual glass living room, private entrance, dinette, refrg, micro, queen bdrm and full bath, private dock, canoe, and BBQ grill, on 80 acre setting with trails. Continental breakfast served in your private guest house.
  • Close to the main route, but feels nicely secluded. Great rural lake setting.

  • My husband and I can't say enough good things about our stay here. From the moment we drove up the long driveway that curves by the lake, we felt at peace and so at home. Our hosts were very communicative/welcoming/friendly and offered information not only about the surrounding areas but also about the beautiful property. This is a stunning location. Obviously the lake takes center stage but we also loved the mature trees (with their visiting birds), the architecture of the home/guest house/outbuildings and the accommodations (within the loft guest house). The loft was clean, comfortable and decorated so stylishly! We enjoyed a delicious continental breakfast of coffee, muffins and fruit; such a thoughtful and nice touch. We loved our stay here and hope to return someday.

  • Christie’s place was wonderful! We loved the unique architecture, bright light and the views overlooking the lake and the fields. We took the canoe out and enjoyed some lake time, it was very peaceful. Restaurant recommendation nearby is Bait & Hook (open Thur-Sat, make reservations) It was nice to slow down away from the hustle of the city. Bring your favorite CDs and be ready to be in the moment. We also enjoyed the yummy breakfast at our own pace.

    Shaunessy2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space. On a very quiet lake. Christie provided us with wood for a bonfire and we had a great time using the canoe as well. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

    Blake2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place to stay! We spent the night after our wedding at Christie’s guest house and it was the perfect place to decompress and soak up the beauty and quiet. The dock and the lake are a little slice of heaven, and the views from the giant windows are so picturesque. The stars are so clear in the night sky, it was a lovely night. Christie was so friendly and very quick to respond. Highly recommend a getaway at this unique guesthouse!

  • It’s so hard to put the beauty of this place into words. Everything was better than expected. From the beauty and tranquil feeling the second you pull up to the property to the amazing hospitality of the hosts. My wife and I just spent our wedding anniversary here and it was just the getaway we needed from our careers and city life. We cooked some dinner on the grill, took a canoe ride on the lake, had an evening fire and woke up to a perfect breakfast to complete our stay. The detail and care that is put into your stay by Christie and her husband is second to none.

Cute Cabin on Waverly Lake. Nice walk to the town of Waverly. Winter discounts available.
This is a 500 square foot cabin. Bedrooms are 7'x8' and 7'x9'. The lot is 40' deep with 75' of lakeshore.
Waverly is a quiet and quaint small town close to the big city. It’s about an hour drive from Minneapolis/St. Paul airport. There are 2 cute restaurants in town in Waverly. The Uptown Bar & Grill is known far and wide for their burgers. The Waverly cafe has world famous stuffed hash browns. These locales are both very low key and reasonably priced. The Municipal Bar offers food occasionally, and off sale liquor. You can take a short walk around the lake to the city park, where there is a kids playground, swimming beach, and occasional activities. Montrose which is just a 5 minute drive away has a dollar general store where you can pick up any last minute items you forgot. Buffalo, about 15 minutes away, offers more restaurant options and shopping. Delano, also about 15 minutes away, offers restaurants and grocery shopping.
  • Very nice place with a small foot print, but lived bigger.

Beautiful, modern, lakefront home in quiet country neighborhood. You will have the entire lower level to enjoy that includes a full bathroom, sauna, private bedroom with lake view, open area, and living area that walks out to a brick paved patio. You can also enjoy the front porch with wicker rocking chairs, the deck with grill and table, seats for six, yard, dock, and lake. I have an inflatable paddle board, lily pad, and life vests for your use as well.
A crib is available in the bedroom for your use if needed. A microwave and small dorm size refrigerator is dedicated to you in the lower level. There may be additional room in the main kitchen refrigerator if needed. Additional air mattresses can be setup in the lower level to accommodate more individuals, but they are not provided. You are free to use the sauna, but I ask that you contact me before using because it can be a little tricky to start. You are welcome to share my kitchen space, use of my stove/oven, dishwasher, pots & pans, dishes, utensils, etc. I may be able to accommodate the use of my washer and dryer as well. There is no smoking inside my home or on the property. I do have a fenced yard and will consider allowing your dog to stay for an additional charge. You are required to clean up after your dog.
I live on a small spring fed lake that is great for fishing and water fun. Most fish are small, but there are several big ones out there too! It is perfect for small children to fish from the dock as they typically always catch a fish! Our small lake is big enough to jet ski, water ski, pontoon, kayak, canoe, etc. It's perfect for first time skiers as there is not a lot of water traffic. There are many larger lakes in the area for fishing for other varieties of fish, more experienced skiers, and speed boats. We have several deer, rabbit, chipmunks, loons, and a variety of birds and ducks in the area along with other native animals. If winter is your time of year, I am not far from Powder Ridge Ski Resort and ice fishermen are welcome to try their luck as well. We also have pizza delivery!!

The Waters Edge over looks Maple Lake. Its a quiet place to get away, but not too far from the airport, Mall of America, Twins, Vikings, & Timber Wolves stadiums. The cabin features North Woods decor, knotty pine, & stone fireplace, Decks & dock. Canoe rental avail. The 4th bedroom & half bath in our charming bunkhouse is avail. for an add'l fee; be sure to request it. PLEASE NOTE: 2 NIGHT MINIMUM AFTER MARCH 1ST
We bought this place more than a decade ago and have loved doing the renovations to make it a North Woods retreat. It's a great place for anything from a second honeymoon, family vacation, to a girls getaway, or small family reunion. A fisherman's paradise.
Our lake cabin is situated on a dead end road so there isn't a lot of traffic coming and going. We have neighbors on either side, but their homes are set back from the lake, while we are right on the waters edge. Our space is only about a mile from the charming town of Maple Lake where you can enjoy a cup of coffee at the Irish Blessing coffee shop. Also not far from excellent golf courses, antique and boutique shops, and the Albertville outlet mall. It's less than an hour from downtown Minneapolis too.
  • Jen keeps this place super clean, & has it fully stocked with everything you could possibly need for your stay. The cabin has plenty of room for larger groups, yet has a cozy feel that's perfect for a couple or small family as well. I stayed in March, but still found plenty to do. The way the property is set up, makes this an excellent choice for a family summer vacation. The host was available anytime & very quick to respond. Already planning my next trip back!

  • Amazing home with a beautiful view and access to the frozen lake where we could walk on, have a snowball fight, the men could play catch with a football, etc. it was a beautiful and perfect home to spend Christmas in. Wish we purchasers the 4th bedroom with the amount of people we had but, we were far from town but close enough that we could access town easily if we needed anything!! Would definitely book again! And Jen and her husband were easily accessible if we needed assistance or had any questions!

Escape to the country about 45 minutes from the cities. Quiet lake to enjoy by canoe, kayak, paddleboat, or paddleboard. You can try fishing, but the lake is not known for its fishing. Listen to the birds and frogs sing you a lullaby. Hang out in the hammock, have your coffee/drinks poolside or enjoy them on any of the 3 decks available. Catch the sunset in the hotub or relax on the deck with a campfire. The fire pit is available all year round. Plus bonus room is set up to use as well.
On 5 wooded acres dead end road. 3 miles west of Buffalo where you can enjoy the antique shops, occasional shops, brew house, wine bar,and restaurants. and about 15 miles from Minnesota's largest flea market(The swappers meet)
Quiet only 3 houses on the road. The neighbors ask to not go into the horse pasture for safety reasons, but if you go to their house and they are home they will introduce you to them.

  • We wish we could say we didn't enjoy our trip so that we could have this paradise all to ourselves! Lisa's place is the perfect summer getaway! This is the second summer we rented her home, and it was just as relaxing this time around. What more could you need than a pool, a hot tub, a covered porch, and plenty of indoor space to cook and lounge around in. It is close enough to the cities that you feel like you're getting away, but not so far that you waste a day in travel. Highly recommended! We hope to make it an annual event!

Our family took out two of the boats provided almost every single night (so relaxing to watch the sun go down!) Huge bathroom, nice bedroom sizes, amazing living room and eat in bar area. Everything was so clean and the owners were friendly and inviting! We were greeted with a basket of snacks & even some toys (sand bucket, bubbles & water toys) for our children the second day! Can't speak highly enough about this property and the owners! You will LOVE it!

This was the perfect girls weekend filled with sun, fun, and relaxation. Deb was great and so welcoming. The communication was responsive and timely. • Great place to stay in Buffalo, MN. Beautiful home, very well laid out and set up for guests. We stayed in the summertime, and the pool was great, a hot tub, outdoor seating, big yard leading right down to the lake with a beautiful dock, with plenty of water craft available to enjoy time out on the lake!

    Tanis2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Me & my 2 best friends stayed at Deb's for a few days in June and we are so glad we did! We were able to use the outdoor pool, soak up a lot of sun, and sit in the hot tub at night and look up at the stars. We played some games together inside and enjoyed making breakfast together! There was more than enough space. We fell in love with downtown Buffalo. The people were so sweet to us and all of the little shops were so quaint! We've already talked about coming back to stay at Deb's next summer!

30min from Twin Cities, Minnesota, Lake home, Lake Cabin, Large Lake Lot, Large Home, Plenty of parking, Fishing, Boating, Snowmobiling, Heated, Central Air conditioning, Laundry
Ground Level home with open kitchen and living room. Three separate bedroom and a large "flex space" room with sofa bed. We also have some full size blow up mattresses that our kids use for additional sleeping. There is a large four season bonus room that steps out on a 24x20 patio over looking the lake. The house sits up on top of a gradual slope for great lake views and nice breezes during the hot summer months. The house is heated all year round and offer excellent access off Waverly Lake for boating, fishing, snowmobiling.
The neighbors on the west are part time the neighbors to the east and full time residents. There is a nice mix of full time and vacation homes on the lake. North Shore Drive is a quite tar road that is nice for walks, biking, etc. The small town of Waverly is across the lake and is roughly a 1mile walk/bike/drive. Waverly has the Up Town Bar and Restaurant (check out (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) reviews and pics) and a few small antique shops. Waverly also has a town hall to rent out for events (very reasonable). If you are looking for more amenities the City of Buffalo (20K people) is just a short 10 min drive north and Minneapolis and its suburbs are just 20 minutes east on hwy 12. We are also roughly 35 minutes form St Cloud.
  • Awesome view, beautiful lake, very relaxing and great place for our family to be together for cooking, meals and games. Very spacious and comfortable!

  • What can I say this place superseded our expectations. The pictures do not do it justice. This was a perfect way to reconnect with our friends and their children. The open floor plan concept was perfect for a large group and was sparkling clean with new linens etc. Plenty if room to cook, eat, play games and for little ones to be running/crawling around. We rented a Pontoon from Chartered Rentals and enjoyed a day on the lake. The patio had a large table with plenty of seating and there was an adjacent fireplace we sat at every night. We also appreciated just a 40 minute drive home to Minneapolis with little to no traffic. We highly recommend this accommodation and will definitely be back!

  • Perfect for families. Clean and spacious home. Great beds, loved being able to use the kayaks and life vests.

  • Ben was a great host! We were very happy with the location right on the lake and similar to other reviewers the space was much bigger and open than expected! We were in town for a family wedding so our days were packed with events leaving us little time to enjoy the backyard and lake, but the view was wonderful, the location was quiet and peaceful too. The house had all the amenities we needed and toys the kids could play with too! Ben was also very understanding when my young daughter decided to write her name with a perm marker on a toy... he appreciated the artwork! I would recommend this home if you're in the area! Next time we visit MN we'll come back so we can spend some time on the water!

    Sylvia2019-05-20T00:00:00Z

This is the most private and relaxing setting in all of Minnesota! This historic farmhouse called, The Preserve of Deer Lake, is a family farm founded in 1877 and has been in the same family ever since, which is four generations. Located south of Annandale Minnesota it sits in the middle of 80 originally homesteaded acres and the main house looks out at a large private environmental lake (not a swimming lake, but we do have two kayaks for your use and for your additional nature experience!).
The Preserve of Deer Lake was a family farm purchased in 1877 by the same family that has owned it for four generations. Located south of Annandale Minnesota it sits in the middle of 80 originally homesteaded acres, on a private environmental lake (Deer Lake) that is teaming with wild life of birds (including loons and trumpeter swans), aquatic species and plants. This lake is not a swimming lake however, you can ore a boat on this very private lake, or take out the two kayaks available for your use, walk the vast acres of land, relax in the large wraparound porch, listen to the sounds or take in the sights of total seclusion and nature. Annandale is a resort area and also a working town. It is located just 50 miles west of the Twin Cities. The Preserve of Deer Lake is close in proximity to many other lakes and places of historical interest. The farmhouse has one bedroom with a queen bed; a full size sleeper sofa in the living room; one bathroom and a large country kitchen and dining area. There is a large wraparound porch with views to the lake and also to the historical farm buildings and beautiful yard. The home sleeps two to four and some pets are welcome with prior approval.
This property is so unique for the extreme private setting and nature experience.
  • This is the second time I have stayed at Brian and Sandra's family farm. It was just as wonderful as the first time. Brian and Sandra had the house prepared for my arrival with entry instructions, wifi password, and fresh pastries!! I love coming to the farm because it allows me to visit family in the St Cloud area and enjoy the Twin Cities, while having a chaos-free place to recover at night. My dog also loves all the farm smells and freedom to run!

    Jesse2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed on the farm with my dog Hank for the weekend while I visited family in the area; however, it was so relaxing on the farm that neither me or Hank wanted to leave to see anyone. I loved the lake view and serene fields the most. Was a great break from the chaos and stress of reality. Can't want to visit again. As far as what you can expect when you visit...its a small one bedroom farmhouse located at the end of a long driveway. The house and buildings are surrounded by a small lake and active fields. Although the location is quite remote, I was able to have a strong cellular signal with Verizon. There were a couple of TVs in the house with local stations and Netflix. Might have been more options, but I did not explore the electronics too much. There are some small towns with some local shops if you need anything, but if want a bigger city then you will need to drive 30+ minutes. Honestly, they most impressive aspect of the farm is how much the owners care about it and how genuine they are. Its Minnesota nice at it's finest.

  • I can’t speak highly enough about this location. I was looking for a quiet and private location to just relax with my dogs and it was perfect (even added a day to my stay!). The grounds are just beautiful and even better than the pictures. The farmhouse was so charming and very clean. Communication from the host very fast and personable. Already looking forward to my next stay!

  • From the moment we pulled up to the property the only thing I could say was "stunning" and it truly is. The pictures don't do it justice. The sunsets and sunrises are incredible! Brian and Sandra had birthday cupcakes and a balloon for sons 3rd birthday. They also had other treats and wine. We brought our own food knowing there is an entire kitchen. There is also a Keurig so you don't need to bring coffee even though there is a coffee pot as well. Our kids slept together on a futon in the den and my husband and I slept in the bedroom. The one bathroom worked out just fine for us. We didn't have any problems at all. The air conditioner is in the kitchen with two box fans that you can move throughout the house. It kept the house cool enough for us. Its somewhat noisy but we use a fan at our house so we are used to it. There is a barbeque grill there so we went to the local market and bought everything for a BBQ. There is also a coffee shop, flea market, restaurants and so much more. Unfortunately we had to leave a day early but all in all we did have a good time.

  • This is a beautiful and very private property on an ecological (non recreational) lake. The grounds were immaculate and the house well stocked with everything you might need. The hosts left welcome gifts of cinnamon rolls and honey (delicious). If you must leave the property, nearby Annandale has a very well stocked supermarket (The Marketplace) and liquor store with a nice selection of wine and beer. Cafe Jules is a delightful restaurant with a lovely outdoor patio and In Hot Water has great coffee and pastries. We caught some nice music at the summer concert series at the Annandale Municipal Park. There are numerous parks and lakes in the area to explore. We loved it.

    Anastasia2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing getaway for us! The privacy and the serenity of this property was truly what we needed to recharge! Brian and Sandra went above and beyond with added touches specifically for us. We can’t recommend this property or these hosts enough! - Joe and Melissa

  • Beauty, serenity, history, privacy, and most of all a peaceful getaway. An absolutely dream setting. Brian & Sandra were tremendous hosts with thoughtful and personal touches, and so quick to answer questions and help in any way. Their farm place was absolutely immaculate and stunningly beautiful and rich in history. Words are not adequate to describe the joy we experienced through their hospitality. Hearts full of gratitude to them for opening up their old home and lake and farm setting for others to enjoy. Thank you! And God bless!

  • Gorgeous little hideaway. Peaceful and adorable farm house. Communication was great and we were greeted with blueberry muffins! Would definitely recommend this place for a quiet, romantic getaway.

Kat’s Kottage is a place of peace and a retreat that provides its visitors with a respite away from the busy-ness of daily life. It offers an opportunity to experience the wonderland of a pristine lake and majestic forest and time to listen, be still, and enjoy Creation. The cottage is located at the end of a private road and has 200 feet of private lakeshore. The space accommodates six guests and is a home away from home with all that is needed to be free of distractions and enjoy nature.
Whether gliding in a kayak on secluded waters, fishing off of a quiet dock, watching the loons serenely swim by, or hiking on meandering trails in the nearby park reserve, you are sure to find time to listen and be at peace here. The cottage is situated at the end of a private road with woods, deer, and wildlife for neighbors. There are two private bedrooms on the main level plus a fully-equipped kitchen, a living room, and a full bath. There is a walkout to a spacious patio with amazing views overlooking the lake. The patio is complete with a gas grill, patio table, and umbrella. The lower level has a third guest room in a common space and a bathroom and shower. Enjoy Year-Round Leisure Activities: There are relaxing activities for every season at the cottage. In the summer and fall, enjoy fishing from the dock for bass, crappies, sunnies, and even northerns. Kayak, paddleboard, swim out to the swim raft and watch the loons sunning themselves, leisurely drink a cup of coffee on the patio or shoreline deck, and take in the scenic lake view. You can also go for a hike at near-by Stanley Eddy Park Reserve, which has over seven miles of gorgeous hiking trails, and view the spectacular scenery up close. In the evening, light a campfire in the fire pit and view the expanse of stars. You will be amazed at the millions of stars you can see far away from the city lights. In the winter, you can ice-fish, ice-skate, snow-shoe, or cross-country ski around the lake. Nearby Stanley Eddy Park Reserve also has miles of cross-country ski trails. Come for a Visit: Kathy and Duane are committed hosts and have been providing guests with a comfortable, memorable, and enjoyable home away from home since early 2018. Come away and experience the peace for yourself, and maybe even plan a group retreat here.
The cottage is at the end of a short street with lots of privacy and with lakeshore. It abuts woods and is amazingly serene and peaceful.
  • Cozy cottage with great hospitality and beautiful views makes for a comfortable, relaxing weekend!

  • Kathy was an excellent host. She even let us shift our dates after we booked and that was super helpful. The lake is beautiful. The cottage is comfortable. It felt like we were staying in the home of a friend. Getting into the cottage was easy and they had all the amenities we needed. The beds were very comfortable.

  • This is a great family getaway! Kids loved the lake and ping pong was a big hit. Great private location.

  • This cabin was a really great place to spend a few days. The lake is BEAUTIFUL and the kayaks and paddleboards were a perfect way to explore it. The cabin also had everything we needed -- cooking supplies, firepit(s), games, TV for when it was rainy. Would definitely recommend!

    Sarah2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful home on a quiet & private lake with the clearest water. You can sit on the dock & just watch the fish. We got just what we needed: rest, relaxation, fun, sunshine, & privacy. We drove up from Texas & visited all parts of the state, but this by far was one of our favorite stays & experiences. The ping pong table & numerous board games were also an added bonus!

    Ruby2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Kathys place was the weekend away we needed to recharge. The cabin is the perfect distance from the cities that it doesnt take long to get there but we felt like we were in a whole different state. The cabin was beautiful, clean and had everything she had promised and more. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards and used the ping pong table and games on the rainy day. Kathy was fast to respond to our messages with any questions. We are hoping to book another long weekend there next summer.

    Andrea2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This home was not only right on the lake, it provided a beautifully landscaped yard to enjoy from the back patio to watch the boaters on the lake if you weren’t enjoying it yourself. The house was clean and nicely furnished with all the amenities of home. I could have left many of my items in my suitcase any home because I didn’t even need them. I would definitely stay here again!

Built in 2004, our home features an open floor plan and game room just steps from the main level that's great for large family gatherings. The living room has windows from end to end for enjoying the view, and with 4 spacious bedrooms it's easy for families to have their own space and still enjoy each other. Our tree-lined lot offers privacy and a great bluff view of the lake. Our shore is sandy/rocky with a hard bottom for swimming and wading. We're an hour from Mpls and 45 min to St Cloud.
As you step in the front door you enter the main living space with a grand view of the lake. The master bedroom has windows facing the lake, while the other bedroom is lightly shaded with views of the lawn and trees. The kitchen boasts a large island with plenty of space to make or serve meals and interact with family/friends in the nearby spaces. You have walkout access to the deck, grills, fire pit and lawn chairs back, and just feet from the lake stairs. And kids and parents alike are delighted by the lower level family room where siblings, friends and cousins can slumber-party together. The backyard offers a cozy campfire area on one end, and the other end offers room for lawn games.
Beautiful tree-lined road, quiet and peaceful neighborhood with friendly neighbors. A State Wildlife Management area is nearby, as well, with beautiful ponds and timber landscapes that make for great nature walks and birding, and public hunting is allowed on these lands. The lake itself is has plenty of space to explore by boat, etc. and attracts a wide variety of wildlife. We have information at the home regarding nearby parks, trails, sledding hills, etc. Powder Ridge Ski area is an easy drive, as well, offering downhill skiing, snowboarding and tubing.
  • Reed and Rachel's place was absolutely perfect for our group of 8. It was a short drive from the Twin Cities and had everything we needed for our winter weekend stay. The heated garage space with ping pong and air hockey provided an excellent space for the evening. Reed and Rachel were extremely responsive to our questions and needs before and during the stay. Would highly recommend this property!

  • The house was much bigger than we were expecting from the pictures. We had so much room to hangout at the large dining room table and around the large kitchen island and also the living room. 13 people fit perfectly in the house with some room to spare. Can’t wait to stay again!

    Jenny2019-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome cabin on a great lake! Highly recommend!

    Brad2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • For our group of 9, this house had more than enough to accommodate us. 4 full bedrooms and 4 bunkbeds were plenty for us all to have our own space. The full kitchen was excellent especially with as much food and cooking/preparing of meals that our group does. Fire pit and grills outside made for some nice evening activities. Folding chairs, towels, toys, and games were available for our use and were an excellent touch.

  • A wonderful place to vacation with a large group, very open and inviting. The lake is wonderful for fishing, tubing, and water skiing.

  • Had a good weekend stay in winter. The house was clean and tidy. The game room gave us things to do when it was cold out. Easy check in and check out. Good communication and prompt responses. Good place for big-sized groups. Will definitely recommend!

  • Reed and Rachel were great hosts and very easy to work with! The home was large but also had a cozy and comfortable charm to it. The area is absolutely beautiful...from the winding, woodsy neighborhood roads to the stunning lakeside views. It is a very relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a weekend away. The home met all of our needs and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you for everything!

  • Tammy was kind, helpful, reasonable, and easy to communicate with. The house is beautiful, well located, huge, and totally stocked with anything you might need in terms of sleeping arrangements. Bonus points for providing cooking tools, spices, and oils!

  • Tammy is one of the best hosts I've had. Her communication with me was outstanding, her property is in great condition and the amenities are fantastic. We only had one problem that Tammy couldn't have prevented. She stayed in constant contact with me and did everything in her power to solve the problem from her own Caribbean vacation. I cannot convey how impressed we all were. The house is beautiful and well set up for a great time for any group of people. If you have a large group, this rental is ideal. Thank you Tammy for making our awesome family Christmas possible!

  • We loved every minute of our stay in Waverly. It was perfect for our big group of adults and children. We loved the house and the lawn, and Tammy went out of her way to help accommodate us.

  • This was a great stay for our group to celebrate our buddy's bachelor party! Only regret is we didn't have a ton of time to spend at the house, which had all kinds of fun things and space for activities! Would 10/10 recommend for a large group, family or friends. Just make sure you leave some time to enjoy what the house and land have to offer!

    Zach2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a unique place to have our wedding, and Waverly Place ended up being the perfect venue for our special occasion. We booked a long weekend and had our close family stay with us for the duration of that time for a weekend of wedding celebrations. Not only did it make for a great wedding location, it was a place we made many memories with our loved ones. Our original plan was to have an outdoor wedding on the property, which would have been amazing with the backdrop of Waverly Lake, but unfortunately it rained on our wedding day. But our plan B worked really well as the wedding party used the grand staircase at the entrance of the home for the procession. The bar downstairs was a great spot for our guests to grab a cocktail and the walkout was perfect for our dance floor. What a beautiful home, and now it will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We couldn’t have imagined it any better!!

The pine cone cottage is the perfect space for that quiet getaway. This old bunkhouse was restored in 2010 to it's current knotty pine state, decorated in a north woods theme, with walls that have a sheen to them. This little niche is especially great for the minimalist... only a half bath, but sparkling clean. It sits behind a main cabin, we also rent, this space will only be rented if the main house is vacant, so you will have access to the dock, decks, fire pit, & gazebo. Wifi included!
You will wake up to views of the lake, and likely hear loons calling in the evening. It's on a dead end road so very private. There is no kitchen, so you will want to have an old school picnic on the decks or dock, unless dining out is your pleasure.

I spent much of my time seated before my window staring out at the snow and frozen lake, and I was able to use the sauna in the community space, which was so healing for my body. The cabins/hermitages are all accessible by car and are in close walking distance of the Wellness Center, the central building. Check out our website.
We are near Annandale, in the heart of the lakes district of Minnesota. Annandale has a local brewery, old time museum, butcher shop, quaint stores and a glorious restaurant called Jules Cafe which serves fresh, local fare
  • My friend and I had a great one-night stay here. It’s a unique place - part farm, part community, part secluded cabin. There’s a lot to do so I’d recommend a longer stay to take advantage of everything but even in one night you’ll experience superior hospitality and some pretty sweet goat friends. FYI - there isn’t running water in the individual cabins though you get a large igloo-style water jug for your stay and can refill it. It’s not a problem at all, just something I didn’t realize beforehand. Also! Make sure you sign up for a massage and/or use the sauna!

  • Joan and Dan's place is magical! We brought our young children and stayed in the prairie dome. We canoed, swam, explored in the forest, and watched fireflies at night! The kids loved it and we loved escaping the madness of the world to get some real time with our kids. Joan and Dan were both incredibly helpful. Every amenity you could want was there, even a sauna. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to take a break! It's very affordable and very close to the twin cities. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

  • Joan and Dan have a very special place. Quiet, beautiful, simple, complete. The Wind Rise hermitage is lovely and falling asleep to the sound of cattle lowing is so relaxing. Walking the labyrinth and the gravel roads is sublime—look for (and listen, too!) the trumpeter swans. Idyllic. I’ll be back.
