Places to stay in Gray Creek
Beautiful Kootenay lakefront house, newly renovated and ready to make your next vacations memories worth remembering. Quaint artisan town nearby, Ainsworth hot springs, hundreds of hiking trails, beaches, free ferry, wineries, fishing and the best nature has to offer. Unwind to the call of loons and soaring of eagles/ospreys.
A large living area and kitchen awaits you with great outdoor dining on a complete wrap around deck overlooking the Kootenay Lake. Wood fireplace inside, large bonfire outside and propane fireplace on deck for cooler mornings or evenings. Lots of parking for boats or an RV.
Our neighbourhood is friendly, respects the outdoors and will do anything to lend a hand. Artistic by Nature.
  • It has a beautiful view, fire woods are provided which was amazing. Has laundry machine. Upstairs and downstairs room good for two families. Big backyard with a large firepit that our family enjoyed. We loved it we would stay there again in the future.

  • This area of B.C. is a treasured spot for our family. The location of this beautiful cabin is perfect. The cabin is beautiful comfortable, and so enjoyed all the outside space too from the big wrap round deck to the large fire pit. Close to the free ferry, so much to explore and enjoy. We will be back! Thank you Candyce for sharing your home!

  • Great place on the lake

    Jeff2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful. Great place.

    Rachel2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nothing beats the view! It was amazing. We spent as much time as possible on the deck! I miss that view already. Due to the beautiful bay windows and no doors it was a bright for the baby in terms of sleeping (prepare to improvise if you have kiddos) and the fact that you had to drive to the lake was unfortunate because we had to pack up the car seat etc for 1km drive (too unsafe to talk along the highway) BUT we would definitely stay there again because having dinner and coffee on that deck was worth it!

    Claudia2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing view! The cabin was easy to find and very well appointed. Lived the propane fire pit in the huge front deck. It is tastefully decorated and has a modern feel. Candyce is wonderful and responds quickly. I highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

  • Beautiful view and quiet location away from the main road. Privately set between the neighbors with a wrap around deck to enjoy shade at all times of the day. A beautiful little getaway on Kootenay Lake.

  • Charming cabin On the grounds of a beautiful estate. We took a lovely hike to a waterfall right behind the cottage. Joanne and her husband were very thoughtful and brought us some fresh produce from their garden. We had a lovely stay and would definitely come back.

    Carolyn2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin in an absolutely gorgeous setting. Joan and John were very helpful and easy to get in contact with. Would definitely come again.

  • Our stay was amazing. Beautiful cabin and amenities. Amazing location. The lawns games and fire pit were a very nice touch.

    Jeremy2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is by far the most relaxing environment I have be in! Absolutely gorgeous views, beautiful cozy cabin & a beautiful waterfall hike right behind the cabin! It was absolutely perfect in every way! Only things I would consider are that you are required to Hall all your stuff up the hill as you have to park at the bottom & walk up. I would have packed differently if I had realized this. & of course adding the Cody Cave Tours to the local things to do is a must as it was life changing and had so many different skill levels!!! Best vaca we have been on!!! Thank you.

    Anna2019-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Joan’s property is spectacular. I needed to get out of the City for a week-long writing retreat and the cabin was the perfect place. It was equipped with everything I needed, but if anything came up Joan was super responsive. There are great hiking trails right from the front door, beach access and a great little bakery/cafe just a 15 min walk away—with a short cut through the woods. I will definitely be back!!

    Chris2019-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Had fun! A great place to relax!

    Zachary2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place! The hospitality is great, but mainly, the private hikes and the peace and quiet. The region is full of cute places and amazing hikes. The free ferry ride over to the other side and hot springs are a must. We will be back for sure and recommend to anyone!!!

Welcome to our serene and spacious sweet suite steps from Kokanee Springs golf course. Newly finished, it has its own private west-facing entrance and patio with forest and mountain views. Birches, cedars, chestnut, oak, firs and pines provide a gorgeous green retreat. Only minutes drive from sandy beach, artisan shops, grocery/liquor store. Enjoy incredible nature by hiking, biking or kayaking. The ferry is about 10 minutes away, taking you across the lake to Nelson and Ainsworth Hotsprings.
This is a large one bedroom suite in our house. It has a kitchen, full bath, private entrance and small patio. A barbecue and propane firepit are also available for use.
Our house is on a private 1-acre lot with no view of other houses. Once you come out of our driveway, on to the main road, you will see the golf course fairway and surrounding mountains. The acreages along the road are well spaced out, some with large homes looking out toward Kokanee Glacier. It is usually very quiet with minimal traffic.
  • The Soul Sanctum is a peaceful retreat for travelers. The community of Crawford Bay has many artists working in various media. We enjoyed our stay and then took the free ferry across Kootenay Lake and visited Ainsworth Hot Springs. The whole visit was wonderful. Robert & Vicki, Walla Walla, WA

    Vicki2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Soul Sanctum is a first-rate place to stay. It's sparkling clean, handsomely appointed, spacious, comfortable, restful, peaceful, and generously equipped with coffee, tea, towels, pots, pans, plates, cups, glasses, and other kitchen supplies. I found the chairs and the bed very comfortable. I balanced my time between hikes in the area and spending time resting in Soul Sanctum and these times of rest were peaceful and helped me recharge my energy. Elvin and Cindy were attentive to my needs, offered me any and all assistance I might need, but, as it turned out, they had this place so well set up and their preparations were so exquisite that I didn't need further assistance. I hope one day I'll return to the Crawford Bay area and have the pleasure of staying at Soul Sanctum again.

    Bill2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect retreat after a busy day. Peaceful, comfortable and so quiet.

    Jan2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • "Soul Sanctum" is an adult space created by Elvin and Cindy. It is an easy access to Kokanee Springs golf course, the shops and restaurants of Crawford Bay. We enjoyed great amenities and the tasteful decor. Looking forward to returning!

    Nancy J.2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Elvin and Cindy are absolutely wonderful. The suite is brand new and has all the amenities and they're property is fantastic. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

  • Great stay! The cabin is very comfortable and clean, and the location is beautiful. Joan and John are very friendly and shared helpful information. Highly recommend!

    Melanie2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • So much gratitude to Joan and John for providing a beautiful space for our Canadian get-away. The cabin is a fine example of craftsmanship, embellished with creative handmade details and much of the artwork throughout is by local artisans. Everything we needed was available and the cabin was immaculate. The grounds are amazing. A trail directly to the back of the cabin will take you to an incredible waterfall. The hike is 25 minutes and well-marked with thoughtfulness and humor. We ate one meal in and for the second night, Joan recommended the Black Salt Cafe. Delicious! All-in-all, this is a 5-star experience. We will definitely book again for a next round of adventure!

    Tina2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I just got back from a 3 night stay at this beautiful cabin. Would highly recommend both the host and the property. Spotless, beautiful location with an interesting history. The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Lots of information available on surrounding area. Joan more than willing to share any tips or information and was readily available. The hike to the waterfall was beautiful. Would not hesitate to return.

  • Joan and John were the most hospital hosts that we've experienced and the wonderful residence extremely well designed, tranquil, peaceful, well located and extremely private. We had the most amazing mini vacation on their property.

    JoAnne2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Joan and John were excellent hosts. The cabin was clean and stocked with everything we needed. They are full of local and natural knowledge. The property is stunning and full of wildlife and history. We saw hummingbirds and a family of deer from the front porch. The natural water features lull you to sleep at night. Truly an amazing place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle and just relax. Make sure to check out the trails all over the property! Thanks Joan and John!

    Brittany2019-07-13T00:00:00Z

  • We stayed in the Grandview Chalet which was lovely and located within Soul’s Paradise. It was nice having a kitchen to cook meals and later relax on the front deck. There is also a little coffee shop by the ferry and some nice local restaurants . Close access to the ferry was a bonus. Upstairs bedroom is an open loft area with a screen for privacy. We would definitely considered staying here again should we be back in Crawford Bay.

  • Very large and comfortable space! We were only there for one night but this would be a perfect spot for a week stay. The hosts were very nice and had quick communication. Great value here!!

  • Perfect cabin with a peek-a-boo water and Mountain View’s. Very clean and had everything we needed for our short stay. There aren’t many stores or places to grab food nearby that are open late so come prepared ahead of time. Very rural area, beautiful lake and area. Close to ferry.

Gorgeous, lakefront log home in Gray Creek, 3 levels. Long stairs down to private beach with kayaks for your use! Large garden with firepit. Private mooring buoy and near boat launch. Perched on a cliff, with large sundecks and endless views over Kootenay Lake! Large beds, BBQ, wood stove, dishwasher, central heat & airconditioning. This truly is living large for a stress-free getaway! If bringing a dog, don't direct-book, contact us first :) This is not a party house, respectful groups only!
The 3 kayaks (one double and 2 sit-on singles) are kept at your own beach! There is a large lawn with firepit and wooden benches for your entire group. Many points of interest are within easy reach by car: nearby Lockheart Beach provincial park has a wonderful beach plus one can hike for days into the mountains. The House Manual outlines other beaches near us. The Pilot Bay area is good for shorter, less strenuous hikes near water. Visit Crawford Bay and Riondell with artisans, eateries and golf course. Visit the Creston wetlands and wander for hours, take a guided canoe ride and see turtles, visit the dairy farm with kids, the Creston brewery or the Wyndell winery. Buy or pick fruit from June to September. Take a short (free) ferry ride across the lake and visit the hotsprings, watch the Kokanee salmon run or go dining and shopping in historic Nelson and Kaslo. Ten minutes from the ferry landing is the Kokanee Mountain Zipline and an enormous hiking area to the Kokanee glacier. Take a guided caving tours at Cody Caves. In the winter we snowshoe or take a daytrip to the ski slopes of wonderful Whitewater. Back home, relax in your comfortable cabin, watch one of our many DVDs or read a book by the fire!
  • This house is beautiful! We spent New Years Eve and it was just really cozy and wonderful. The fire is so nice and it's a great place to post up for relaxing :) The beds were VERY comfortable and we enjoyed the claw foot tub as well.

  • We just had an amazing stay at the Lodge this past weekend, Steffen and Charlotte were very responsive, and accommodating in every way. I will totally recommend staying at this lodge. I definitely will be back again.

  • We have a family reunion every three years, somewhere in BC. I have three married daughters each with a young child. This home had bedrooms for all couples which offered great space and privacy. The kitchen, dining area and living room occupy one great space, which is perfect for family. All in all the house/cottage is a terrific space. We only had to leave for groceries as everything is there for you. An east facing deck was great for morning coffee and the west facing deck was great all day, but especially at cocktail hour and sunset. It’s a hike down to the beach (150 ish stairs, but well worth the beach at the bottom. Very, very private. I love this place.

  • Steffen and Charlotte's place was a perfect spot for a family gathering. Lots of space to hang out together and enough space for privacy.

    Heather2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Steffen and Charlotte’s place was more beautiful than we imagined! There was a lot of space and sleeping arrangements! We enjoyed the water and sitting on their porch to eat! I would definitely recommend this place.

Kootenay Lake is low-key, stress-free lake living. The lake is large and offers great boating, swimming, fishing. Several historic towns around the lake are a delight to visit. A wonderful environment with lots of opportunities to enjoy recreation and nature. A free ferry runs every hour across the lake. About a half hour ride. It is only 1 km from the house. Nearby Pilot Bay peninsula offers wonderful hiking and biking.
  • We had a great 3 day stay here while we did some hiking and visits to other tourist attractions nearby. The house was clean when we arrived and both hosts were there to say hello right on time for our arrival. We were a group of 14 people and there was tons of beds available for us and we had a few people double up which was no problem at all as the beds were big. The kitchen was well used by us and they pretty much had everything we needed to cook our meals. The views were fantastic in the morning and were a great change of scenery for a kid raised in the prairies. The pool table and hot tub were the most used amenities by our group and they had a neighbor that would come over every morning to take care of the hot tub for us so that was great. My only complaint is with the hot water in the place. Even if you were the first person to shower in the morning you only had about 1 minute tops of hot water before it was freezing cold even with only the hot water tap on. Other than that I highly recommend a stay here if you're exploring the BC area as it has the best views and trails to show you. Thanks for hosting such a young group of guys. I'm sure it made you nervous but I think we treated it with the respect it deserved and I look forward to dealing with you on some of your other properties. Thanks from Alexander and the boys

  • A great place to host a party or get together with a group. We very much enjoyed our time & even though the weather didn’t cooperate we had so much room inside it didn’t matter. We very much enjoyed cooking our meals & enjoying the view from the front balcony. This location was fantastic!

  • Had a great stay at this beautiful home! Travelled with 7 adults and 4 children. There was a ton of space for everyone and gorgeous views. Kids loved exploring outside, less than 5 minute walk to the lake front. Hosts were very quick to respond to any questions and happy to assist with recommendations on local areas.

If you don't want to go too far, Bocallinos is the closest, I think they're open until 10:00 pm.
  • We had the best week here! I travelled with my 2 dogs, and as soon as we drove up to the campsite, I knew we had found a winner. Claudette was very helpful and accommodating, and continued to check in throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. The tent was a nice huge space, room for 2 dog beds on top of the very comfortable mattress already in there. It was also nice having the bathrooms so close to the site. Best for last: the beach! I didn’t go onto the people beach, but the dog beach was a great space where the dogs could swim and run until they were beat. Even though the location is a bit of a drive for us, I plan to make this campground a regular summer spot for many summers to come!

  • Maggie's house was a lovely quiet retreat in the woods with a stunning view of the Lake and Glacier. It is very close to the ferry (which is free!) and a few miles into a small town full of artists and other eclectic shops. Never seen a broom making store before, right out of Harry Potter. You can even do Yoga there in her studio. She was a great host with a wonderful sense of humour.

  • Khyati's place is beautiful both in great style as well as nature all around. I cooked everyday in a well appointed kitchen. There was easy access to restaurants, stores, great beaches, and an extraordinary view of the lake. The beds were comfortable and the shower was great; big shower with strong water flow and floor to ceiling glass doors looking out into the woods. Lovely.

  • We stayed in the red room for there nights in July, at the time we were the only guests so it was super quiet. Very clean and nice house, you feel at home! I enjoyed one free yoga class with Maggie and her students; Gordon and her gave us lots of tips of things to see in the area, walks and activities. The main attraction is the Ainsworth hotsprings and we love staying at the other side of the river and catching the free ferry. I love this area of Canada and loved this BNB, I would definitely come back and recommend it to my friends and family! Thanks Maggie and Gordon!!
