Known as ‘the Blue House’ on Micalong Creek, this Finnish-style log cabin is cute and quirky. It has many endearing features, such as a sauna, sleeping loft, verandah, spectacular views, direct access to the creek for swimming and fishing, separate sleeping cabin. It’s in the most perfect spot for bird-watching, star gazing, creek swimming, fishing, picnicking, relaxing, hiking, reading, or writing.
The space is versatile and there are lots of separate areas. The property is composed of a main cabin and a separate small cabin. The main cabin is not huge and has 2 levels. The main floor contains a small kitchen, bathroom (toilet/shower/sink), lounge area, sleeping loft, and the outside porch with a killer view. The downstairs contains a storage room, sauna, and second bathroom (shower/toilet/sink). The separate small cabin has a double-bed and great window for bird-watching. There is a single-bed in the sleeping loft and a double-bed in the separate small cabin. Guests will also have access to other sleeping arrangements: A futon, on the back porch and with a mosquito net, is available if guests wish to sleep outside. A double-fold out couch in the main living area, if guests prefer air-conditioning/heater. There is limited phone reception in the valley, Telstra has better reception and Optus has none. The Blue House does NOT have a land line, but does have NBN Wi-Fi. Some highlights: +Espresso machine for making city-style coffee (including lattes) +BBQ +Split system in the main cabin (AC/heat) +Small heater in separate cabin +Washing machine +Wi-fi (limited, no streaming) +For the young or the young at heart, lilos and noodles for floating down the creek are available +Full kitchen (oven, stove-top, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle, pots, pans, utensils, BUT NO MICROWAVE) +Picnic table with spectacular creek views +Fire pit outside to make a fire in the winter (bring your own wood) +Sauna (of course!)
Wee Jasper is a hidden gem, known to campers as a serene and beautiful spot. It's remote. Yass is the nearest town, 56 kms, so popping to the shops is not an option. Remember to pack everything and fill-up with petrol before leaving Yass/Canberra. The Blue House is part of a small community of holiday homes (apx. 15) along the Micalong Creek. While Wee Jasper is remote, you are not alone. There are neighbors close by, so please be mindful. Across the creek is part of the Wee Jasper Reserve, and there are often campers. Please park either in front of the Blue House (but don't drive into it!) or preferably in the centre of the turnaround loop. Please do not block any driveways or the road.

The Pepper Tree began life in 1910 as a residence for Yass’s horse mounted Police. 110 years later it is a modern three bedroom cottage set up for you to enjoy. The kitchen and living area open onto a large deck with unbroken views to the Yass river. The kitchen is equipped for entertaining, and the bedrooms are configurable for varied family compositions. Toys, games and books are provided.
Our house is designed for your family. We have travelled all over the world staying in Airbnb’s and we have tried to apply what we have learnt. Most of our travel involves our kids and occasionally a pet. We have tried to make our home friendly for both. Your small dogs and cats are very welcome in the house. The main bedroom has a queen bed, the second bedroom has a queen bed and large built-in wardrobes, the third bedroom has either two single beds, one of which can be reconfigured into either a king bed or two single beds (i.e. a total of 3 single beds or a king bed and 1 single). The living area includes a 50 inch smart television, a DVD player and big selection of DVDs, as well as a day bed that a small child could sleep on. Please note that at present there is no free to air television. NBN WIFI is provided. The kitchen is very well equipped but please let us know if you have a particular need, for example baking a birthday cake. The deck is immediately adjacent to the kitchen and has seating for eight, an unbroken view to the river, and a BBQ. The house is heated by wood fire. The living area is air conditioned and all other rooms, and the deck, have ceiling fans. Our block is long, even though the formal garden is only a small part of it. There are alpacas next door and this might be a factor if you have a particularly feisty four legged friend. The house has a full size laundry with washing machine (no dryer).
We like to walk down the hill to the river and then wander to the town. In a few minutes you can be at the Yazzbar, Kaffeine or Six8 Coffee roasters. The Australian Hotel does steak night, schnitzels and 2 for 1 meals through the week. Major supermarkets Woolworths and Aldi are a 10 minute walk from the house.
  • Pepper Tree is a very special place to stay. Tastefully refurbished home with special touches to ensure your stay is comfortable. Susi goes to great lengths to make you welcome and Yass has a lot to offer.

The Cottage is ideal as a writer’s retreat. And a regular bus service to Canberra means daily driving isn’t necessary. Fluffy towels, crisp sheets and the makings of a light healthy breakfast are supplied. The location is excellent, being in the heart of the Yass town centre. Walking distance to shops, cafes and restaurants. The Picasso exhibition is on in Canberra, also hot air ballooning.
Old world furnishings in a turn of the century brick duplex, with an extremely convenient location close to grocery shops and cafes with off street parking.
This little unit is close to the Yass information centre, a lovely park and many cafes. There is also a riverside park with paths for cycling and walking.
  • Cute as hell and a great little space for anyone with pets. #petperfect

Our higgledy-piggledy airbnb (that we call Viv) is a handy little place for stopovers or exploring. We've created the kind of place we would want to stay in: simple, affordable, vintage-styled, creative and pet-friendly. The space is an imperfect, semi-detached studio. The studio-style room has a comfy (but very low) queen bed and kitchenette. You'll have your own bathroom, small outdoor area and private entrance. I'm next-door if needed. Relaxed guests, with or without pets, are welcome.
Ollie and Viv, named after my beautiful grandmothers, were designed to encourage visitors to our tiny hometown and to offer artists, filmmakers, writers and musicians a place to escape to or collaborate in (you will find traces of their stays on the walls). The space is simply decorated with reuse and vintage finds. We've been told it has a good, homely vibe. Our home is mid-renovation on the outside, so please forgive any half-painted exterior walls, or half dug gardens for now! If you have a fondness for fancy, formal, hotel style accomodation (or expect a standard bnb experience) this is probably not the place for you. Our little place has its flaws and we keep costs low by keeping it simple. Staying at our house is more akin to staying with a kooky, creative, absent-minded aunt than with a wealthy, successful, business-minded one. Our prices are on par with a bedroom in a shared house or backpacker beds - we aim to offer a pleasant, budget and pet friendly alternative to those types of accomodation. We have designed the kind of space we would want to stay in, rather than what one usually finds. So please keep that in mind if/when booking. I have friends that offer gorgeous, traditional, serviced bnbs locally (with loungerooms, breakfast, full kitchens etc) and I would be happy to redirect you to them, if that's what you're after. Our main road location is central and convenient, but it is also subject to noise from passing traffic, including heavy trucks at night. It's 'white noise' to us, but light sleepers or those used to quiet nights may find it a bit too loud. Earplugs are provided if needed but closing the bedroom door seems enough for most.
Harden is filled with classic Australian homes and big wide streets. I find that everyone still smiles and waves and we have felt incredibly welcomed by the town and everyone in it. It is definitely a small, supportive community, one where kindness matters far more than status.
  • A well-designed and attractive space with everything you need and some lovely additional touches. Thoughtful design maximises the space. Comfortable bed. Easy walk to shops/cafe. Glorious cycling in the countryside around here - beautiful! Quiet roads too, if you avoid the highway. Overall Eliza's place is warm, welcoming and excellent value.

    Michelle2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Eliza’s place is absolutely amazing, an absolute must stop if you’re passing through or even to catch one of the towns many festivals. Eliza was a beautiful host and made me, my partner and our fur son Beau feel instantly welcome and at home. I can not recommend Ollie and Viv highly enough! Thanks again Eliza

    Jordyn2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Eliza’s place is a delightful find with everything you could possibly need for a stay in Harden. Loved the quirky style and artwork and clever design features. Yes there is some highway noise but to be honest I hardly noticed and there are earplugs provided. Eliza is a very welcoming host and notes provided were really useful.

    Margaret2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Eliza’s place is a perfect base for a stay in Harden. Eliza was great with communication and the place is terrific value.

    Cath2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Eliza is an amazing host! Cute, clean and private place. Couldn’t have had a better stay 😊

    Gabrielle2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Eliza is an incredible host, she respected our space but she promptly helped us when we needed. The house is absolutely lovely, I sleep very lightly and with the door closed that was enough to block the noise other guests mentioned. I’d highly suggest this place and will be back for our next stop over.

    Ketuly2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy little place. Beautifully designed simplicity with thoughtful attention to detail. Noisey as described but really worth it.

    Prue2020-01-17T00:00:00Z

Quiet home in a peaceful, green farming valley. Use as a base to explore the Snowy Mountains, including Koscuiszko National Park, go for a walk in the paddock and meet the cows, or just relax.
Renovated, double brick 1980s farmhouse. Large bedroom with spa ensuite, in addition to the main bathroom. Wood fire plus ducted reverse cycle air-conditioning, central heating and electric blankets. It gets cold here! Japanese massage chair in the main guest bedroom.
Minutes to the Snowy Mountains, Kosciouszko National Park, hiking, mountain biking, water & snow skiing, kayaking, four wheel driving, sight seeing.
  • Looking to get away from it all and go off grid... this is just the place for that. We had a very relaxing stay at Bell’s, the massage chair and foot massage machine were amazing. There is some phone reception there but not much and it actually made our trip that much better. I would say the only thing I would do to improve the stay is to set up a lounge room where guests can sit and chat. I loved the place and all the chooks and the horse made it that much more tranquil. Thanks for everything Bell!!

  • Very quiet peaceful rural setting. You have the run of the house and your bedroom is spacious and spotless. Large private bathroom. Spa and shower are great. Do yourself a favour and try the massage chair! Would definitely stay again. Note: if you are bringing a frozen meal from home there is no microwave oven .

  • We had a truly delightful Easter long weekend stay at Bell's place just on the outskirts of town. The rolling hills, the starry night skies and the quiet are a balm for the soul. And if that doesn't complete the job, there is always the special massage chair that can relieve some of the deep tension in your back muscles. We loved our massive room and the very comfortable bed. If ever you got snowed in during the winter, there are tons of interesting books to keep you entertained, too. And that applies to kids, also. Bell even provided a drawer full of toys and items for curious kids of various ages. Our little son Liam still speaks about the penny-farthing bike, and Bell amazed me with her technical skills regarding bicycles of all descriptions, especially special-builds and non-standard varieties. The booking went smoothly with quick and clear communication. Bell welcomed us into her home on our arrival, and made sure we felt at home to use the space and anything we needed. Liam enjoyed feeding the chickens and sitting on Bob the Horse. I'm sure he would love to see the chicks in spring -- perhaps next time we visit the Tumut area. Thank you, Bell, for making our stay so memorable. We really loved your space and felt uplifted by your generous spirit, as well as by your industrious and creative nature. We can highly recommend your home as a place to stay when visiting Tumut.

  • Bell has an amazing house located in a farm next to beautiful animals! A great place for a escape from crowded city.

    Nicolas2019-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Looks like an average farmhouse but the guest suite is very comfortable and stylish and the chooks are friendly. There are extensions under way. Bell was not there the night we stayed but there was everything we needed at hand.

    Fran2019-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful setting in the Snowy Mountains. Great hospitality and a large comfortable room with an en-suite. The views are to die for. Highly recommend Bell’s place.

There is also a supermarket (500 m walk) where you can buy everything you need for your stay. Supermarkets and shops at Tumut are only 45 km drive (30 minutes).

Talbingo offers a lot for visitors apart from the snow regions. There is fishing and water sports, swimming, golf, tennis and bush walking tracks as well as 4WD tracks through Kosciusko National Park and Bargo State Forest. If you feel like kicking back and relaxing with a round of golf, the Talbingo Country Club has a 9-hole course.

Talbingo is at the centre of the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme – one of the great engineering feats in the world, and the Tumut 3 Power Station which is the largest power station in the Snowy Mountains Scheme and the largest hydro-electric power station in Australia.

The town is the birthplace of award winning author Miles Franklin. Ken Warby currently holds the water speed record for motorboat racing on Blowering Dam at 511 km/ph. His son David Warby is attempting the record on same dam in the near future.

If you are in the mood for sightseeing, Talbingo is an easy drive from many of our popular tourist attractions.

The Selwyn Snowfields are just under an hour drive through national park. This is the premier learn to ski and family snow recreation area in NSW. Located in the beautiful Kosciusko National Park, you will love learning how to ski, snowboard, snow tube or toboggan. Snow gear can be hired at Talbingo goPLAYoutside.

On your way, make sure you visit Yarrangobilly Caves, one of the most wonderful limestone cave systems in Australia. You can either take a self-guided tour through the South Glory Cave or join a guided tour of the Jersey Cave or Jillabenan Cave. There are a number of other bush walks at Yarrangobilly Caves, including the Thermal Pool Walk where you’ll find a natural spring permanently heated to 27 degrees – this is an amazing experience in winter where you can laze back in the warm water while snow is blanketing the ground around you. Great photo shoot.

The whole Yarrangobilly area is a haven for photographers and artists so make sure you check out the River Walk and the Bluff Lookout as well as the caves.

Another favourite is the Buddong Falls, just a 50 km drive away, crossing the Blowering Reserve and through the Buddong State Forest. Alternatively, you can follow the Blowering Reserve into Tumut and then back down in the Buddong State Forest. Here you will find an easy 400 metre return walk from the picnic area to the top falls, and a steeper 1.6 km return walk to the bottom falls.

For longer walks, there is the Hume and Hovell Walking Track which you can trek parts of the track. This drive is suitable for 4WD only.

The entry into Landers Creek Falls is a short 15-minute drive from us here at Pether Cottage. This is a fairly decent walk so we definitely recommend setting aside a few hours for this one. The falls are a 10 km return walk from the 2WD car park or a 1.6 km return walk from the 4WD car park (closed in winter) along the Cumberland trail. This is a great place for photos – at the end of the trail you will have views that stretch across the escarpment and plunging into the valley below, as well as the clear blue Talbingo Reservoir. At the Talbingo Lookout, you will get a great view of Landers Creek Falls emerging from the cliff.

There are some other fantastic walks and places to visit in the area. Some of our favourites (apart from those we’ve mentioned) include Coolamine Homestead accessed off Long Plain Road along the Blue Waterholes Fire Trail; Blue Waterholes Campground; Clarke Gorge Walking Track; Nichols Gorge Walking Track; and the Kiandra Heritage Track.

If you feel like taking a break from all the walking and hiking in the area, fishing, water sports and swimming are popular with many tourists and locals. You can fish all year round for rainbow trout, brown trout and redfin in Lakes Talbingo, Blowering and Tantangara, while Murray Cod is often caught in Blowering Dam. Fishing supplies can be hired from goPlayoutside, or purchased at the service station and supermarket.

With so many waterways available for use, you can water ski, sail, canoe, kayak and swim on Talbingo and Blowering Lakes during the warmer weather. There are also many local creeks and swimming holes around including Jounama Creek.

We highly recommend goPlayoutside for your snow and leisure equipment hire including cycling, hiking, water sports and snow sports gear. You’ll be out exploring the local area quicker and be hitting the slopes sooner. You’ll also find a four-day weather forecast, snow report and road conditions posted on the shop window each day.

There are some great towns and villages to visit if you feel like exploring the local area.

WE RECOMMEND TRIPS TO:

►Kiandra - historic ghost town and walk

►Adelong - historic mining town

►Tumut - the gateway to the Snowy Mountains

►Gundagai - home to Australian folklore, the Dog on the Tuckerbox

►Batlow - famous for cold climate fruit including the popular Batlow apples

►Cabramurra - the highest permanently inhabited town in Australia

►Adaminaby - in long periods of dry weather, you may be able to spot remanets of the old town under Lake Eucumbene

►Cooma - home to the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre

Surrounded by some of the most sensational scenery, there is so much to see and do in the Snowy Mountains area, and you can experience it all from Pether Cottage.

BOOK YOUR SNOWY MOUNTAINS HOLIDAY TODAY AT PETHER COTTAGE. STAY AT OUR AUSSIE CHILLOUT!

Photos courtesy of Elizabeth Allnutt - Photographer

  • David and Hillary are great hosts. They provided great tips on the local area and where clear in setting expectations. The place was comfortable and functional. Worked well for us and our fur baby. Location is really convenient for the club, local supermarket and access to the community areas and lake. Property is an older place, so has some quirks but definitely gives you everything you need. Fully operational kitchen, bathroom and all bedrooms have AC, as does the lounge. Don’t forget to check out the books and games to keep you entertained if you’re not enjoying the birds and BBQ area.

  • Beautiful residence!

  • The house is in a beautiful quiet country area, with lovely views and gorgeous grounds full of fruit trees to explore. We loved the outdoor sitting area and the living areas were nice and light and open. We unfortunately arrived after quite a few days of extreme heat, and found it hard to cool the 2nd bedroom upstairs, but everywhere else cooled down very quickly with the 2 aircons. The house is not far to drive for walks, nice little swimming spots in the river and the Tumut shops. Definitely recommend for families. The house is equipped with everything you need.

Modern, self-contained, pool house, and working sheep/cattle property in a peaceful country setting, 20 minutes from Yass. Great water views overlooking Murrumbidgee River and exclusive use of swimming pool. Break your trip with your four legged friend/s, or stay a few days and relax in our clean country fresh air. See the stars, and hear the silence.
The space consists of a queen size bed with 100% cotton air dried sheets, and a modern ensuite bathroom. A sitting area with a sink, refrigerator, microwave and stove. The cooking space is quite small and best for fairly basic food preparation. Also included is a TV. (32" flat screen) and a DVD player. We are very pleased to announce that we have just installed reverse cycle heating and air conditioning for your added comfort. There are ceiling fans if required and gas heating for the cooler weather. A 'Tastic' heater is in the bathroom for extra comfort. Enjoy exclusive use of our 10m pool, BBQ and deck. We will take children, over 5 yrs old, who are able to swim, but would insist that parents supervise at all times. A fold up bed is available as an extra bed, and the charge for extras per night is $30.00, to cover costs with extra laundry, cleaning etc. You will find some up to date magazines to relax with while here, DVDs and complimentary chocolate. The nearest shop/food outlet is in Yass, so I advise guests to bring dinner with them, or to book a home cooked meal to be served in the BnB.
This is a peaceful rural working property, 20 minutes drive from the town of Yass, with great views of Burrinjuck Dam. It is within easy reach of Canberra for sight seeing. Ie The National Gallery of Australia, Australia Museum, The Arboretum, High Court of Australia, The National War Memorial, National Capital Zoo and Aquarium, Floriade to name a few. Yass has its very own wine bar Yazzbar, (open Thurs to Sat) and Farmers Market on the first and third Saturdays of every month, a great selection of coffee shops and restaurants. A good place to stay to break a long journey and see more than just a motel room.

They were there to greet us at 9:30pm and had freshly made bread ready for us too. We travelled with three Samoyed’s and they were very accommodating. Short but sweet stay. Very happy

Bongongo Shearer's Huts are a perfect location for a large groups of 20 + to get away and enjoy quiet quality time in the hills of Adjungbilly and escape the everyday. Located 35km from Coolac off the Hume Hway ( half way between Sydney & Melb). Bongongo is a working cattle and sheep property. It has been owned and run by five Generations of the Graham family. The huts also offer a perfect location to use as a base to local attractions in Gundagai, Tumut and Jugiong. More information
The Shearers huts have played an important role on "Bongongo" for the past 120 years. Renovated in 2008 and for the past 10 years have been used for friends, family and private groups. In October of 2018 we decided to open this wonderful place to the public and others to come and enjoy. Private Bike riding, horse riding, bird watching, fitness and walking groups have booked and enjoyed the huts over the last decade.
  • Perfect for a trip to get away from it all. Surroundings are picturesque and peaceful. Ideal for families or groups. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Authentic country experience for anyone looking for a holiday which relieves them from the internet and the business of city life for a few days. A spacious and beautiful scenery. The creek nearby is reminiscent of a waterfall and it’s natural ambience with its sounds, smells and sights is a wonderful experience. The kids were very professional, Sam assisted us tremendously in setting up at the start, Tilly allowed us to interact with her personal horse and George was also helpful in initial set up. Rachel was a great communicator in helping us in initial arrangements. The landscape surrounding the house was beautiful and views like those aren’t often seen. This was a great experience and we enjoyed it very much. Thank you

    Anm2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our group of 20 (10 adults & 10 kids) thoroughly enjoyed our country experience. The accomodation catered very comfortably for everyone with many thoughtful extras. We played in the creek, had buggy rides, had a horse ride, rose bikes, played cricket, watched sheep being round up, slid down the sheep shoots, had a sheep shearing demonstration and so much more. No phone or internet reception made for a complete escape. Our city kids embrace the country life and loved every second. We hope to return again.

  • This is a great location for a nice relaxing holiday. We enjoyed kayaking, walks and relaxing. The complex has a lovely swimming pool to take a dip when you need to cool down. Tennis courts if you fancy a game or two. Also great views of the river from your bedroom window. Liz and Don were at reception to greet us and directed us to the cottage. Both very friendly and happy to help. The cottage had everything you need and was clean and new inside. (the pictures don't do it justice). Plenty of room for a family or a couple to enjoy a holiday in the country. Liz left the air con on for us when we arrived and a bottle of bubbles in the fridge. It's only 15 mins drive to Yass which you have a choice of cafes, bars and restaurants. We enjoyed the yass Bar which plays live music at the weekend. We would love to come back next year and do it all again.

My place is a wonderful historic Australian homestead. You’ll love the open fires in winter and the shade of the tall old trees in the summer, the homesteads high ceilings, the views and verandahs from every room, and the beautiful location. My place is a great experience for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families. There are 4 separate bedrooms for 4 separate guests available.
Our beds are very comfy with wool topping inside the mattresses. You can have king size to stretch out or long singles. There's verandahs to relax on and paddocks to stroll.
We even have the Hume'n Hovell Walking Track come by our door. The Goodradigbee River and Lake Burrinjuck are just 500 meters across the paddock and Carey's Cave is a short walk. Wee Jasper is definitely a great place to experience the diversity of the Australian bush.
  • This is an amazing property with a fabulous homestead. We would definitely go back there. Helen is such an experienced host, so helpful and a fabulous chef. Our room was so lovely and had a great bed and lovely pillows. We slept so well and enjoyed all the visiting wildlife including many kangaroos and parrots. Ian was so interesting telling us about the property and the amazing fossils found there. A perfect stop on our way from Sydney to Melbourne.

  • Staying at Cooradigbee is very special - Helen and Ian are wonderful hosts, tolerant of boisterous and curious children, Helen is a fantastic chef, Ian is a great guide to the fossils and the Aboriginal artefacts on their property. The surroundings are spectacular - with plenty of space to roam and explore. The caves are an easy walk from the homestead and well worth a visit. What a luxury to explore the area all day and then return to a warm house, with food about to be served. We'll return, and probably stay even longer next time!

    Elisa2019-07-16T00:00:00Z

Yass is a town in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. The name appears to have been derived from an Aboriginal word, "Yarrh", said to mean 'running water'. Yass is located 280 km south-west of Sydney on the Hume Highway. The Yass River, which is a tributary of the Murrumbidgee River, flows past the town. Yass is 59 km from Canberra; lying at an altitude of 505 m AMSL. Yass has an impressive and historic main street, with well-preserved 19th century verandah post pubs. It is popular with tourists, some from Canberra and others taking a break from the Hume Highway. The Yass Show is held in March, The Turning Wave Festival in September, and the Yass Arts-and-Crafts Festival in November, along with numerous other festivals and events throughout the year.
  • This place goes above and beyond. The hosts, Joy and Kerry, are amazing and you feel at home from the moment you enter the gate. Joy is a wealth of knowledge and has even convinced my youngest son to become a farmer. Our stay was only one night (which was not enough) but we will definitely be returning!

    Adam2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Micalong Cottage in Wee Jasper is set in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia! Quintessential Australian bush living at its finest. The cottage is humble from the outside, and exceeds expectations from within. I came with my husband for a wedding in Wee Jasper and it was just the two of us that stayed there. However, there are two bedrooms that would comfortably sleep eight people. The large deck at the back of the house offers an uninterrupted view of the valley and hills and would be excellent for entertaining on balmy evenings - complete with festoon lighting and a bbq! The living area of the house is light and bright, has modern furnishings and a very cosy feel. The bathroom is simple but offers all the basic amenities that you might need, including a bath in addition to a shower. The kitchen is fitted out with any appliances you might need in order to be self-sufficient. Once again, the true hero of the property is its unbelievable view! It’s so incredible I felt the need to mention it again. This property seems like it would be perfect for a couple looking for a quiet weekend away or a group of friends having a celebration. Go and give it a try and see for yourself!

This recently renovated house is within walking distance from the main street and all that Yass has to offer including the fantastic cafes, Yazzbar and Clementine Restaurant where you can taste the wonderful wine and food of the region. This house has a fun and relaxed retro feel that is perfect for a weekend away with friends or the family or as a comfortable stopover on your travels. The house has a TV, DVD, stereo, full ducted heating in all rooms and a portable airconditioner in the summer.
  • Nice little place. Great for families. Close to town. Very homely feeling. Great communication with owner.

  • We stayed at Duncan’s place for 2 months. The location is fantastic and an easy walk into town. The house is a great size (the photos don’t do it justice), super comfy beds, great central heating and AC in the living area. Our dogs loved the huge backyard and the neighbours’ horse too! Duncan was easy to deal with and very accomodating during our stay. Yass is a great country town and we loved exploring the region. Thanks again Duncan.

The Rabbit's Hut offer's a break from the norms of city living. Seated in a paddock bordered by the Murrumbidgee River on a working cattle station - the Rabbiter's provides all the creature comforts while retaining the character of it's past.
The ‘Hut’ is off the grid - no mobile range or wifi. There is a landline for guests convenience. There is Aircon in the main bedroom but not in the living areas. There is a generous fireplace in the open plan kitchen.
  • Amazing location if you’re travelling between states. Beautiful “French farm house” styled cottage. The views were beautiful and the quiet serenity was just what we needed. Our dog loved the space to run around! Would highly recommend

  • Always love coming back to the hut, such a special location with a beautiful view. Our home away from home

  • If you’re lucky enough to book A Hut Away From Home, you’ll enjoy quiet evenings on the verandah watching birds fly by, and listening to the occasional calls of cattle and sheep as they graze. A short walk from this very nicely appointed rustic cottage is the Murrumbidgee River which offers cool breezes on warmer days, and a view of horses grazing on the other side. The cottage sits on a working farm so the drive in is interesting, offering close interaction with the animals grown on the property, including if you’re fortunate enough and it’s late in the afternoon - the occasional kangaroo! The cottage is self-catering, so you’ll need to bring supplies, though Jugiong is only about 15km away where you’ll find fantastic food at both the Long Track Pantry and The Sir George Hotel. We enjoyed our stay, and slept peacefully in a comfortable bed utilising the air-conditioning in the bedroom. We’d love to return in the more temperate months of the year. Thanks Jo for your hospitality, attention to detail and for your advice about The Hut and surrounding country, cheers, L & J.

  • The cottage is so lovely and surprisingly spacious. Jo provides lots of small touches and is very accommodating. We just wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the surrounds

  • Beautiful spot away from it all, quiet and relaxing

    Daniel2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • It's the second time I stayed at Jo's place. It's a lovely character house away from everyday noise. A perfect escape from the city life

    Lola2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Rabbiter’s hut is a great little place to stay. The beds are very comfortable and the area is tranquil. Sitting outside and looking at the cows meandering around is very relaxing. Would recommend 2 or more nights if you have the time. But be aware that you are a out on a property so make sure you bring milk bread etc if you are planning to have a cuppa or anything when you get there. That’s if you don’t want to head back into towns straight away.
