Amazing stay at the house. We were welcomed and shown around the property and how to work everything which was useful. The location was ideal for us to get out and about into the hills. There were 12 of us staying and it worked out perfectly with the number of rooms and bathrooms. Living space was really nice and open with views of the countryside all around. Would definitely recommend others to stay.

Lovely property in a quiet, scenic location. The owner was very friendly and accommodating (even gave us some charcoal for the bbq when we couldn't find any nearby). Property itself was large and we'll equipped with a huge fridge, double ovens and modern tv. Definitely recommended!

Lovely little cabin, that is absolutely ideal for two people. Easy to find, just off the intersection of the two main roads through Braemar, right next to their other two businesses. It was almost brand new when we arrived, only been finished a few weeks, but no issues with the place at all. Bright, clean, modern and in a great location right next to a few shops, restaurant, cafe, a chippy and somewhere to have a drink, as well as having the river right behind.

We loved our stay in Chapel Brae Bothy. David and Sue were great hosts - friendly and welcoming. The bothy was perfect for our weekend walking in the area. The kitchen is basic but adequate. We loved the cosy wood burning stove and the fresh eggs from the 'girls' in the garden were an unexpected bonus! The neighbourhood is quiet and it was good to have separate access to the bothy. we would definitely book this again.

Amazing place with very warm, friendly and helpful hosts. The cottage is situated inside a small village with very easy access to all local shops, restaurants and touristic office. Having a car is a must if you really want to explore the surroundings. The cottage itself is very clean and well appointed. Every small detail was took care of. We really felt like at home away from home. If you are planning to visit highlands, this is the place to stay.

Enjoyed our stay here at the cottage, fresh flowers and fire already lit so the cottage was nice and warm on arrival on a cold February night. A great little cottage in a beautiful part of Scotland, I stayed here with my partner for 4 nights in February 2016. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and we really enjoyed our time in the highlands. The cottage is great for couples, perfect size with enough space to not feel cramped whilst small enough to feel cosy on cold nights. The village center is a 5 minute walk away with plenty of hikes and beautiful scenery on your doorstep. We came with the intention of going snowboarding at Glenshee which is 10 minutes from the cottage. Unfortunately there wasn't enough snow at Glenshee but we were able to drive to The Lecht, the journey took about 40 minutes and we had a great day on the slopes. Braemar is a great base if you are looking for winter activities in the highlands as you can easily access Glenshee and The Lecht and even Aviemore if you are willing to drive a bit further. Overall we had a wonderful stay in Cranford Cottage and would definitely come back!

Great cottage in a lovely place. We didn't wish for anything. The best Place to get around the Highlands. The village is picturesque, so is the landscape no wonder the Queen's summer residence is just around the corner! We didn't meet our hosts though as they were away on holiday. Wow what a stunning place Braemar is with all the outdoor activities close by we loved the walking and cycling and will definitely return. The bothy was very cosy and ideal situated right by shops cafes and soon to open bar!

Alastair and Sarah are the perfect Airbnb hosts because they put your needs ahead of their own. For instance, when I arrived, I was having difficulties getting my computer to connect to their Internet (the problem was not with their Internet, but with my computer.) Even though it was the busy time for Alastair with their BnB, he went to great lengths to help me connect, even going on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) to search for the solution to my problem. Thanks, Alastair, I needed the Internet. The place is so cozy and cute, very country-living Scottish style. The cottage is a five-minute walk to the village. When I arrived, there was plenty of tea and shortbread cookies waiting for me. I had a separate larger-than-normal fridge and a separate freezer, so if a guest needed to stay there longer, there is plenty of fridge and freezer space. The bed was SOOOO comfortable, felt new! Four very comfortable pillows were available. The hot water to the shower was instant, and the towel was white and big. The TV had lots of channels with movies. The place was extremely clean. The cottage has a private front garden which you can use with table and two chairs, flowers and fun views of neighbors. Loved the hooks on the front wall to hang up coats, and scarves, and hats, and such. The kitchen ware was nice and there were just the right kinds of cooking and baking utensils. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Cranford Cottage, and would recommend it to others. Alli McDonald

Great place and very centrally located. Sarah and Al were a joy. The cabin was incredibly cozy and had plentiful instructions. Walking distance to all the local amenities was a big plus (minus firewood, but Sarah and Al provided a "starter kit" that lasted us three nights when burned conservatively). Our fire alarm went off twice in the middle of two nights but Sarah and Al quickly inspected the problem and resolved it. I don't think we'd go (or recommend that anyone else go) anywhere else in Braemar.

Wonderful stay at the cottage, me and my wife had an amazing time. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Although we did not meet Al and Sarah we communicated via email and everything was spot on they are great hosts!

We found Derrywood an amazing place. The location is very beautiful. The views are very nice. The house itself is very nice too,very comfortable and with everything needed, including spices in the kitchen! We highly recommend this place and if you have time stay there for few days.

My friends and I had a brilliant stay at Derrywood! Sadly we could only stay one night - wish it could have been longer. We had a really cosy, quiet night by the log fire, playing board games and drinking wine. The house has excellent views of the hills and we watched the red squirrels for hours playing in the snow in the garden! Sadly no deer came to visit on this occasion but I'm sure I'll be back to see them. Roelf was an excellent host and gave us good tips on local walks. I highly recommend staying here! Thanks Roelf!

The house was beautiful, very spacious and full of character. You could tell that it was well loved and full of interesting details. Roelf was a wonderful host who has a fire waiting for us and gave us information about nice walks and things to see in the area. I wish we could have stayed foe more than one night!

Was welcomed by Mrs Miep, the wife.. It was a wonderful stay, house was clean complete with gorgeous furnitures, fireplace and daily necessities. Surprisingly, there were also loads of board games to play with The host was very lovely in guiding and welcoming us there, she even helped scraping ice layer from our car in the morning Highly recommended for those travelling together in groups, and be reminded that the view along the way was awesome, so come when the sun is still up!

Derrywood was a great place to stay in Braemar. The quirky cottage is near a sheep pasture and across a gurgling creek, but a quick 5-8 minute walk into town. The views were great, and it was close to many beautiful things to do such as Balmoral Castle. Peter, Roelf's son, made check in a breeze and was super easy to communicate with. Enjoyed our stay!

Birchwood Braemar, which looks out to the Cairngorms and the River Dee, provides a well-equipped base to enjoy a relaxing time in this wonderful part of the Scottish Highlands. Sandra and Raymond are very warm on-site hosts, going out of their way to ensure that our time in Braemar was trouble free. Raymond met us as we got off the bus and ferried us to meet the bus on our last day. Fresh scones were waiting for us inside on arrival. It can be cool in Braemar, but the wood burner and electric heating (and blankets) are more than adequate. The kitchen is well-equipped and the bathroom well-appointed. Very good value in a quiet and stunning location.

We had the most wonderful stay in this house. The wood burning stove warmed the living room so quickly and created an amazing atmosphere every evening. The location is beautiful and perfect for a whole range of activities - we walked every day and hired bikes in Ballater as well as visiting the Royal Lochnagar distillery nearby. The house is very well equipped with books, CDs, DVDs and the kitchen was organised and easy to use. It was a comfortable, cosy place to base ourselves. The view from the windows is lovely, looking across the pretty garden to the river and the mountains. Despite there being other houses adjacent and along the lane, it was completely silent and felt secluded. Couldn't recommend this lovely place highly enough!!

This cottage in Braemar is lovely, a perfect base for exploring the amazing countryside, which is right on your doorstep. The views are stunning, from the light and airy living room, which has lovely large windows all round. When we arrived Sandra greeted us with warm scones, butter and jam, and milk to make tea! The hosts were helpful, friendly and welcoming. The cottage is equipped with everything you need, including its own well stocked wood shed to keep the burner going. Very clean and cosy, comfortable beds. We didn't want to leave. I will definitely return, thanks for a fabulous stay. X

Just back from an utterly fantastic 4-day stay. We were warmly welcomed and made to feel completely at home for our entire stay. Everything was as we would have wished, and provided a homely, warm and comfortable base for our walks. The walking around Braemar is stunning, from the beautiful upper reaches of the river Dee to the magnificent snow-covered peak of Lochnagar, it is a holiday that will stay wth us for a long time. Auchendryne Cottage is a lovely cosy cottage in Braemar. It was our home for 4 days while we were skiing at Glenshee. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you can wish for and even more. We thought the whole place was even better than the photos! It's a very family friendly cottage and the kids loved making a snow man in the garden. The whole cottage is very well insulated and warm. The wood burning stove is amazing. The beds are cosy and everything was very clean. The porch is brilliant for leaving outdoor gear and boots. The cottage is well situated for exploring the outdoors. Linda is a great host and was very prompt with instructions prior to our arrival. We'll definitely be back one day!

Linda's cottage is the best place ever! The lovely house with the wonderful garden is super equipped, we feeled very much at home. The cottage is also very well located at the end of the village Braemer so that it is calm but also to reach the coffee shops, supermarket and restaurants in walking distance (1-3 min). The national park is very beautiful and the golf course very nice. Nearby in the forest you can find a lot of good mushrooms ... Thank you for our lovely week at your house! We try to come again!! We loved our stay at the cottage. Linda's communication with us ahead of the visit was very good and we had all the information we needed to settle quickly into the cottage. It was a perfect place for our first family skiing holiday in Scotland and both The Lecht and Glenshee ski areas are within easy driving distance. On arrival we were greeted by some snacks and drinks, and the cottage had some basics left that were very welcome after a long trip to Scotland. The cottage was very cosy and comfortable with both central heating and a lovely solid fuel fire. It was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay, was very clean and was decorated well in keeping with the cottage feel. The cottage is situated a short walk from Braemar centre which had some decent local shops, pubs and restaurant to cater for our needs, although most of our evenings were spent at the cottage. Very highly recommended

Colin and Fiona made us incredibly welcome - we were camping beforehand and they allowed us to park in the drive a few days early. In the cottage was a large bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine! Very friendly. A very attractive garden. Surrounded by fabulous walking.

This was one of the best experiences of renting through Airbnb - great place to stay, location and weather (!), but made even better by the range of little things that you had thought to put in the house like plastic bags, tea bags etc. and even a bottle of wine! Many thanks.

When we arrived we were greeted by Fiona who showed us round the property which is full of surprises. From the outside Bedside Manor has a bunkhouse look that is in no way reflected in the interior which has been fitted out to a high standard and is beautifully presented. A welcome bottle of wine was waiting for us along with plenty of maps, guides and local history books - great for planning. The property has a decked area with outdoor seating for dining al fresco. It is set in a really enchanting natural garden with native trees and even its own lochan and wetland area with yellow flag iris and orchids. We had sightings of red squirrels and rabbits as well as many birds including tree creepers. Bedside Manor proved to be perfect for our highland walking trip and a return trip is already being planned. Thank you................

It was an amazing experience staying in "Bedside Manor". The town of Braemar was so lovely and peaceful, the scenery was astounding. The cabin itself was a home away from home, super cosy and a great space for the five of us to chill out with a nice glass of wine (thanks for that touch by the way!) and a movie. Would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing Scottish getaway. Communication with the hosts was amazing! The host, Fiona, kept us informed regarding the recent unusually brisk weather and even popped round to check we were OK. 11 stars!

We were so sad to leave this gorgeous cottage! It has been put together with so much care and thought -there was nothing more that we could wish for during our stay. Braemar is a wonderful little town, take notice of Colin and Sophie's recommendations. We had some of our best meals ever in town. The yard is such a brilliant escape from suburbia. Our two children had such a wonderful time there they begged us to head back to the cottage every time we left!

Once again our trip to Bedside Manor was a great joy. We were provided with all that we needed, we were very cosy at night and we had a fantastic location to relax in. Colin and Fiona were always available online to answer any of our questions and nothing was too much trouble. Our highlights were finding some snow; yippee, relaxing at the cabin watching the wildlife, a 'Highland Tour with Neil, tasting the delicious sausages from the local butcher's and a chance great chat with Fiona at the end of our stay. The stay at Katy and Richard's place was great - the adventure starts already with the drive up through the Glenn to reach their very nice farm. Katy and Richard were very kind and perfects hosts - and the surroundings are even more impressive than the nice pictures on Airbnb that drew me to this place. Walks start just around the corner, or, on a rainy day, a fireplace and book offer an equally nice experience - in short, a very good place to 'retreat' for a couple of days (2 days in our case, and that feels like a minimum).

Katy and Richard's place at Braedownie comes with a 5/5 recommendation. Nestled far into the Glen, it's well worth the trip for a true taste of Scottish hospitality and scenery. Katy and Richard are delightful and will give you either as much space or as much conversation as you'd like. If you intend on making a trip into the Highlands for a few days to just take in the atmosphere, or whether you intend to do some serious hiking, Braedownie is perfect.

My son (11) and I had a fantastic stay at Katy's and Richard's. They are lovely host who made us feel very welcome, like being part of the family. The farm is easy to find (the building on the left, just before the Glen Doll entrance) and my son absolutely loved to be able to play with the dogs and the cat. The landscape surrounding the house is stunning. The house is an ideal base for exploring Glen Clova and the other glens nearby. Please remember to bring your food as there are no shops within a 30 min drive and you might not want to visit the Glen Clova Hotel three times a day :) Katy left us a space in her fridge and allowed us to use her kitchen so this was not an issue at all. We loved our stay and will be certainly be back!

It's a gem! It's a remote, old rustic farm building, with a lovely host, friendly dogs and a peacock... Katy was realy kind and we had some nice conversations sitting in the old kitchen next to the fireplace, drinking wine and whiskey... what else do you need. I am sure one day I will be back, and visit this unique place again...

Braedownie farm, nestled in the beautiful Glen Clova, is a fantastic place to stay and a wonderful base from which to explore the surrounding area. We received a very warm welcome upon our arrival, and immediately felt very at home! Although remote (which is a real plus), the house was easy to find and the instructions from Katy, very easy to follow. It is extremely well appointed, with a lovely double bedroom, large kitchen with wood burning stove and armchairs, cosy sitting room with an open fire and views in the day out to the surrounding hills. Katy and Richard (and their two lovely dogs) were very friendly and accommodating - providing lovely muesli and fruit for breakfast, letting us dry out all of our gear beside the fire each night, offering tips about best walks in the area, as well as sharing stories about life in the Glen over the last 30 years! ...There was even delicious cake and a 'just boiled' kettle when we returned from one particularly long day. A real 'gem' find - I would recommend Braedownie Farm to anyone wanting to head to the hills, whether for adventures big, or small. Thank you Katy and Richard!

I had my best vacation after very long time. If you want to take a real break and spend sometime with nature, this is the place. The place is in country side, close to nature and with all amenities. Highly recommended.

Countryside villa, built the 19th century and the actual photograph as charming! Quiet environment, there are mountain streams, pine forests and sheep, perfect for a relaxing holiday place! Facilities are available inside the house, the owner is very intimate, very warm arrangement and artistic sense. . . Small but complete kitchen and full bookshelves with feeling! Landlord a couple very warm! I would recommend to a friend to keep come here!

Great riverside location close to glenshee and the hills and mountains. Decor was dated and a bit of a hodgepodge but good quality and functional. Marian was very efficient and helpful.

I cannot recommend a stay at Forter Castle highly enough. In a word, our stay was exquisite. The interiors are the definition of well appointed; the pictures simply cannot do them justice. We enjoyed two nights in comfort and style, making good use of the kitchen for meals, and the great hall for conversation and relaxation warmed by the fire. Each bedroom is uniquely handsome with comfortable beds and linens. Please take advantage of the catering and the other activities made available. We enjoyed a stirring bag piping performance, a scenic hike to a near by loch, and a fun-filled afternoon with archery, axes, and rifles. The hosts and everyone else we interacted with were incredibly hospitable and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay. In sum, this was an incredible, one of a kind experience, please consider a stay!

Fantastic wee cottage in a beautiful location. Ben was extremely welcoming and made us feel right at home. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need and we even had a pre-made fire awaiting us. The cottage is within an easy drive of Blairgowrie and Pitlochry and the tiny hamlet of Cray is a beautiful setting. The cosy interior, amazing bed, and great wildlife around the cottage made this a very special trip.

Lovely place to stay. If you enjoy a quiet, layed back surrounding, this is the place to be. The house is perfectly equipped and very cozy. Only one warning...you might lose track of time because it is so relaxing ;) There are plenty of nice walks in the mountains near by. Day-Trips to several interesting places and cities make it even better.

We were absolutely delighted with the cottage and had a lovely weekend enjoying the peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The cottage was lovely inside and presented to a very high standard by Ben and Vicky. Nice touches like the fluffy dressing gowns, and the BBQ coal and logs Ben dropped off for us made us feel instantly at home. We'll definitely be back and I would highly recommend the cottage to anyone who is looking for a well maintained, beautifully presented and peaceful retreat.

Before even arriving, Vicky was very helpful and thorough. She confirmed the amount of beds needed and helped us find private transport. When we arrived we were blown away! It is the most beautiful property!!! The entire house is 5 stars. It is homey and welcoming but also feels like you are staying in a fancy hotel. We were all so sad to leave. Hopefully we can return again sometime. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone!

We only stayed one night but would definitely visit again. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, very idyllic. There is so much wildlife around and the Cairngorms are within easy reach by car. Karen is a great host and is very thoughtful in making your stay as comfortable as possible.

Karen was a great host, everything she provided us with was great! She gave us plenty of tips about places to visit around and also lent us some maps and guides. The room is very cosy and has a private bathroom. Karen left some small food treats for us in the room, which we really appreciated: milk, coffee, tea, bread, butter, marmelade, biscuits... In the room there is a kettle too, this comes in handy when you arrive home quite cold after walks in the nature. Breakfast was also wonderful, really varied and tasty options. At Tuloch there is also a "wee" library where you can borrow books from during your stay. Internet is not very fast, but you won't really need it if you want to relax and disconnect!

One thing is certain if you stay with Karen - you will not go hungry! Goodies to eat in the room (and a very welcome cup of tea after I'd been out walking) and such a huge choice for breakfast in the morning! Beautiful view from the room, nice comfy bed, friendly folk; no complaints from me :)

Karen is such a wonderful lady. She offered her kitchen and breakfast fixings. Her dog is adorable. The room is separate from her living space so it felt like we had our own place. Definitely recommend going there despite it being far from a main road it's worth it!

Karen and her partner are very welcoming, warm and charming people ! We were looking for a nice remote place to stay at the end of our roadtrip through Scotland, and Karen's place is just perfect for that ! The bed is comfortable, the home is very clean, the area is gorgeous if you like nature (Cairngorms National Park). You feel right at home if you like this kind of countryside.

We stayed for just one night at Karen's and it was perfect. It's in a lovely area, is very good value for money and Karen made us feel really at home. We appreciated all this little extras like the shortbread, crockery in the room and wide range of toiletries. The breakfast was great too. As it says in the description, Karen will leave cooked breakfast things out for you on demand to make yourself which really suited us and the black pudding and bacon were superb.

Karen and Alastair (and Barclay) were amazing hosts! We were late bc of flight delays, but Karen was very accommodating and did not make us feel rushed to get to her place. She even recommended a great place for dinner (the Strathardle Inn - highly recommend as well). Karen greeted us with warmth and made us feel as if we were old friends arriving for a visit. The rooms, bathrooms and linens were clean, the beds were VERY comfortable, and the breakfast layout was amazing! Lovely conversation and excellent recommendations for various locations to visit (with impeccable directions). We loved this visit and would absolutely recommend Tulloch to anyone visiting Scotland.

What to say. Everything beside of perfect would not match it. We were only one night and checked in very late. Thank you again also for this Karen. I highly recommend a stay at Tullochs together with Karen, Alastair and Barclay. You have to! :)

Pretty house edge of a river, completely surrounded by nature. It is about fifteen minutes drive from the nearest village but if you are looking for a magical and secluded place is really worth! We felt welcomed by Liz and Andy as we were at home. We added to the service dinner prepared by Liz who was amazing; not only for the great food and attention to detail but also for the family atmosphere that characterizes the accommodation of Liz. Breakfast was rich and satisfying. We can highly recommend this accommodation!
