Benefits of an Airbnb profile

Your Airbnb profile is a way to introduce yourself to others on Airbnb.

Updating your profile with information you choose to share, such as your interests or hometown, is a way to connect to and build trust with hosts you might want to book with or guests who are interested in making a reservation with you.

Your profile may be highlighted across the Airbnb platform

Beyond showing your identity verification status, your profile can offer more details about you with hosts and guests, such as:

  • Your profile photo – the best photos clearly show your face so others can recognise you when you arrive as a guest or host a stay, service or experience.
  • Your legal first name or preferred first name if you’ve provided one
  • Your reputation – details like the number of trips you’ve been on, number of reviews and years on Airbnb
  • Your answers to questions about yourself – where you live, languages you speak or fun facts help share information about your unique personality. All of these questions are optional
  • Your interests – these help bring your personality to life
  • Your introduction – this shares details about yourself
  • Your travel stamps – these showcase trips you’ve taken on Airbnb

You can choose to share your profile with other guests on experiences, which will also allow those guests to request to message you directly. This is a choice you can make with every experience that you book or join.

To change this setting, you can view the guest list and adjust your profile settings from your trip details. Open your experience reservation and scroll to Who’s going and make changes within Profile Settings. You can also change this setting from within your Profile.

Where your profile photo is shared

Your profile photo will be shown across Airbnb – for example, it’s on your listing if you’re a host, it will be shared with hosts after a booking is accepted as a guest. It also appears in message threads on Airbnb and will be shared with other guests when you join a reservation and on reviews you leave as a host or guest.

Guest profile photos aren’t displayed until after a reservation is confirmed.

All hosts are required to have a profile photo, and some hosts require a photo of their guests to make a reservation.
