Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Our spacious and quiet 1 bedroom suite is perfect for 3 people, if 4-5 people are staying, a comfortable 18" raised queen air bed will be set for the additional guests in the living room area. Our house is located in Langford, just minutes from downtown Victoria. With a 1 minute walk to the nearest bus stop, 2 minutes to Florence Lake, and a 4 minute drive to the shopping centre, you can easily reach everything you need and quickly access Highway 1 to explore the beauty of Vancouver Island.

The Brentwood Garden — basement suite is located in a quiet neighbourhood at the back of the house with a beautiful garden and patio. A infant is welcome to sleep in a beautiful baby wicket basket with stand. Unfortunately, the suite is not wheelchair accessible. Suitable for 2 persons. The suite and upper - hosts floor share one heating and cooling system with a thermostat on main floor. Our guests are able to control a comfortable temperature in the suite by adjusting ceiling vents.

Centrally located, we’re 15-20 minutes from the ferry, airport, and downtown, 10 minutes to Butchart Gardens, and 5 minutes to great hiking and biking. Nearby, you’ll find charming farms and restaurants. The closest bus stop is 2 km away. Your suite includes a fridge, microwave, Keurig, and kettle for basic meal prep. Sparkling clean, one-bedroom suite located on a quiet street, equipped with all the modern amenities required to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. Backing onto the Galloping Goose trail, our home is within a 5 minute walking distance to Eagle Creek Village which has a grocery store, liquor store, Starbucks, Tim Horton’s, Cob’s Bread, and a fitness center. Bear Mountain golf course & downtown Victoria is a 15 minute drive. Please remove shoes while inside the suite.

We had a fantastic time at Mark’s house boat. It was very relaxing and the spot on the roof was ideal for an evening drink whilst watching the world go by. We took the taxi boat to the city for dinner and it was a perfect way to start and finish an evening. Top place.

Everything else was absolutely great and maybe just something simpler on the TV so maybe it would be easy for somebody my age to watch cable haha. This place was perfect for out short trip to Victoria! Usually, pictures can be deceiving, but this place is actually better in person. Very clean, comfortable, and well stocked. The seating area in the back was perfect for coffee in the mornings and wine in the evenings. Such a beautiful, peaceful place.

Sue was so accommodating! She contacted me to let me know that we could check-in early, responded to a TV volume issue immediately, and made sure that we had everything we needed including milk to make tea as we arrived and settled in. The place was spotless, beds were comfortable with cozy bedding and everything was in place for us! Staying here was easy for our family, and it was so peaceful! Would absolutely stay here again!
