Holiday rentals in Poddala

We have just returned from 7 wonderful nights at Sudath's beautiful beach home in Ambalangoda. The villa is tastefully furnished and decorated with a delightful mixture of the old and new. The location is superb and we spent hours sitting on the veranda or the beach patio watching the waves (it is Monsoon season so no swimming) and reading and relaxing. Sudath was very helpful and welcoming. He arranged reliable and reasonably priced airport pick up and drop off as well as helping us with taxis and tuk tuks whenever we needed. A special mention must go to his team too, especially Chamali who was so very friendly, helpful and the most wonderful cook. The breakfasts were amazing and she kindly made me vegan pancakes and delicious coconut roti along with home made jam, fresh fruit juice and tropical fruits aplenty. We hadn't planned on eating much at the villa, but the food was so good we ended up eating there every single night of our stay! Vege curries and Kottu to die for.

We stayed in this beautiful house for two weeks and can see why it is a guest favorite. The house has everything you need and has lovely outdoor and pool areas. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and it is nice to walk the local roads. It is only a few minutes walk to the nearest grocery stores. If you want to go to Galle or Unawatuna it is only a short Tuktuk ride to beaches, shops and restaurants. The team that manages the property are professional and friendly, and any questions or challenges are resolved quickly and efficiently. We recommend the house and would be happy to return on a later occasion.

Asela is a great host!!! Very hospitable and friendly, always ready to help with all issues. We lived in the villa for a whole month. The house is always very clean, cleaning every few days. Convenient location of the house, just 10 minutes by tuktuk to the sea and all the establishments. We are very happy that we ended up here I highly recommend this villa, secluded accommodation surrounded by birds and beautiful nature Also really liked Asela's restaurant, one of the best we have visited! Thank you!

We booked to nights in Deepika’s beach cabanas. A wonderful place where sea turtles swim right outside your window. Unfortunately we ended up staying only one night. Not due to anything wrong with the cabana it was as described. But we were travelling with a 2 year old child and underestimated the heat without an aircon and the loud sounds of the waves crashing in during the night. Deepika was very helpful and helped arrange a transfer from our previous hotel so we could find et easily and check in went smooth.

The place is in a truly lovely place, nestled amidst lush greenery. The location was incredibly calm and quiet, offering a perfect escape. The house itself was beautiful, even more so than the pictures suggested. Ben was a great host, making sure our stay was absolutely unhindered. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and picturesque getaway.

Stop scrolling through the reviews and just book this stay already! Everything about the Temple House was fantastic - from the decor to the amenities to the constantly cleaned pool to the villa manager and staff availability and helpfulness. Communication with Jo was a breeze. Jo was proactive and provided all the information we needed. The chef that we shared with another villa made amazing vegetarian food for our party of 4 adults. Nish the villa manager went out of his way to make us comfortable. Shashi was super duper helpful, making breakfast for all of us and staying with my grandma and infant to ensure their comfort when the rest of us were out exploring. The place was spic and span thanks to Ashanti cleaning the indoor area and the uncle outside cleaning the yard and pool. There was a short period of power outage that was handled well by Jo and the team. They had USB/ battery powered lights and fans that allowed us - especially my infant - to feel comfortable. Loved it!!!

Words cannot describe how perfect our stay was. Sharmini was a fantastic host, even before we got there. She was quick to answer my many questions about the villa, the local area and sharing details of companies that could collect our large party of 12 from the airport. Even calling them on my behalf when they didn't respond to my messages. The photos of the villa don't do it justice. The rooms are all a fantastic size, beds and pillows comfy and the bathrooms are wonderful. The location on the beach was just perfect. We were 3 families with 6 children between 2 and 8 and we all spent our time running from beach to pool l. Idilic. But the standout feature of the villa is the fabulous and dedicated staff. Dilu, Milan and Bandu. Dilu could not do enough for us and was on hand, yet discreet. Milan! Well his cooking is easily the best I've had in Sri Lanka. He cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner for all of us every night catering for us all! Our villa stay was perfect in every way!

Driving through the gates of Karma House, we knew we had arrived in paradise, from the stunning palm lined drive to the bungalow its self. We received a very warm welcome from Clive and Ayesh and felt at home immediately. During our stay, Clive and Ayesh were always there to advise and help in any way they could, whilst Kumara kept our bungalow spotless. He was a real treasure. At all times they totally respected our privacy as we did theirs. We also became acquainted with Clive’s dogs and cats during our stay, who were always welcome to come and see us at the bungalow. We were extremely comfortable in the bungalow and despite some ‘tropical’ days, enjoyed sitting on the veranda watching the amazing wildlife that surrounded us. Clive and Ayesh - you have provided the ultimate experience of living in SriLanka for which we cannot thank you enough. Friends for life.
