Family-friendly holiday rentals in Platanes, Rethymno

My friend and I stayed at the accommodation for 5 days and were very satisfied with our stay. The apartment is on the ground floor of a beautiful modern house. The apartment was very well equipped, there was nothing missing. The beautiful terrace with whirlpool is worth highlighting. The location is great. It is about 15 minutes by car to the center of Chania. Several beaches are within walking distance. The house itself is in a quiet location. It offers a good starting point for exploring Crete. Katerina and her husband are great hosts. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a fresh Greek salad, oranges, and wine. A few days later, we received fresh vegetables from the garden. Katerina was always available and very friendly. We felt very comfortable. Overall, we would recommend the accommodation! 5/5 stars!

The places is perfect.

Great stay, great location, great views. Very close to many bars and restaurants. Not too noisy at night. The only slightly negative aspect was the shower. Basically made the entire floor flooded. Overall, i would recommend the place and would definitely return.

Hidden gem! Loved this home, literally two minute walk to Golden Beach. Katerina is so sweet (she met us in-person, had local restaurant recommendations, and even provided a bottle of wine). The home was perfect for our group of 6 (great value for the money, too). Would 100% come again!

Very nice modern house (less than five years old?) overlooking the sea. Everything in very good working order, including powerful air conditioning in the bedrooms. Frequent cleaning of the pool area was a benefit, particularly when a storm had come in the night before. Very convenient to Rethymno as well as to several bakeries and restaurants towards the centre of the island.

What a wonderful house! We were surprised to be so close to 2 lovely beaches, great hikes and a delicious restaurant. We’re a family with 3 young kids and they loved the swing, swinging bench, jacuzzi, space to play inside. Dimitris left a baby crib, high chair, and toddler potty for us which was super helpful. The best was Dimitris was very kind upon greeting us late at night when we arrived.

A lovely, luxury appartment near the beach and about 30 minutes' walk from the old town of Chania. A well-equipped, clean and beautiful appartment, but above all the warm and friendly hostess Anastasia. She guided us around the area, brought local delicacies, stocked the fridge with food and even drove us to the grocery store with her car. We really enjoyed our stay at the appartment and can wholeheartedly recommend it to others. You certainly wont't be disapointed!

Fantastic Villa for our family party. Spacious, well equipt and with lovely pool and view. There are nice (and inexpensive restaurants within walking distance too). Neighbourhood was peaceful. We felt very much at home, mainly due to the fantastic hosting. Georgia and Andreas are so friendly. Cheerful , beautiful people. They want to make every part of the stay special. Thank you both! ❤️

Great place. Great location. Kitchen was a bit small for the size of the space, but very workable. Air conditioning on the first level for the common space didn’t work (we notified the owner but were told we were wrong - we weren’t). But that didn’t really affect our stay. If the weather was hotter I could see it being an issue. But overall, we really enjoyed the rental.

Words can’t describe how incredible this home is. Every corner you looked there was a masterpiece to be found. Beautifully decorated is an understatement, this Airbnb was curated over years and years of living. It was nested in the heart of the town. I will 100% be coming back. Wonderful stay! The location is incredible. It’s in a beautiful area with historic alleyways, very walkable but not right next to bars so it’s not very loud at night. There is some noise at night as people are walking home and sit outside, but nothing that prevented us from sleeping well. The space was very clean and perfect for our stay. Michalis was a wonderful host and made us feel very comfortable and took care of everything we needed. I highly recommend staying here!

Nikos and Joanna were excellent hosts. Clear instructions of how to find the villa and greeted us on arrival. The villa is immaculate, very high end finish and the surrounding area is stunning. Close to both Chania and the Marina, both worth a visit. We have had a brilliant time with the family and will definitely be back again!

Jeronimo is a really great host. Very, very friendly and helpful. We felt very comfortable and welcome right away. The accommodation is beautifully located above the small Soudabucht with magnificent views. Two recommended taverns are within walking distance. Jeronimo's bar is also great and not to be missed. We can highly recommend the beautiful, simple but functional accommodation.

Retro Gaming Paradise – A Perfect Stay! We had an amazing time at this apartment! The place was a nostalgic dream for any retro gaming fan—fully stocked with classic consoles like the N64, Dreamcast, Game Boys, and more! along with a great selection of games. It was the perfect setup to unwind and relive some childhood favorites. The space itself was beautifully designed—clean, cozy, and super aesthetic, with thoughtful touches that really gave it character. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we slept like babies each night. The location was also ideal—close to everything - center , food places, shops, beach , with easy access to local attractions. On top of all that, George is a fantastic host : friendly, responsive, and full of excellent local recommendations that really added to the experience!! Highly recommend this spot for gamers or anyone looking for a unique and comfortable stay!

Fantastic property with its own terrace affording great views over Chania. Loungers, tables, chairs, coffee table, soft chairs all there for our own personal use. Large canopy affording shade to sit under. Inside a gem. Spotless interia with quality bed linen and a beautiful set table with linen napkins. All you need in the kitchen, plenty of crockery and cutelry, pans etc. Large TV with Netflix available. Anastasia was an attentive host availanble to assist if/when required very swiftly. Recommend this accomodation for couples.

Wonderful Experience at the Villa Elias! Our stay at the villa was perfect. The sea view was breathtaking, especially during sunset – a true sense of calm, quiet, and complete privacy. Choosing this villa was an excellent decision, especially because of the heated pool, which the kids absolutely loved. They enjoyed both swimming and playing in the spacious garden. The villa is well-equipped, with many useful items that made our stay very comfortable, including an air pump for pool toys. The location is also great – close to shops, supermarkets, and pharmacies. We loved our time here. It was so peaceful and relaxing, and our host was gracious, leaving us snacks and a beautiful moussaka in the fridge on arrival (a welcomed surprise after a long day of travel). We were obsessed with the view, and could have spent a lifetime watching the sunsets. We really enjoyed our week and can’t wait to return for our next holiday!

We enjoyed our vacation at Kostas tremendously. The accommodation is even more beautiful in real life than in the photos. It is a beautiful, spacious villa with a large garden around it + private swimming pool. Communication with Kostas went well. He wanted to help. The accommodation was clean and had various amenities. After two days, I unfortunately had all these bumps on my legs that looked like flea bites (presumably from the cats that lie on the chairs at night). I informed Kostas about this and he immediately called in a pest control service. This was very much appreciated. After that, no longer suffered from these bites. We would definitely recommend Kostas' accommodation!

We were staying at this villa for 10 days and loved every second of it! I could always contact Valia, but Nicos was also available 24/7. Nicos is very sweet, we really appreciate his kindness. This villa offers you everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing and private holiday. The kitchen is fully equipped and the pool is getting cleaned every day. We left some extra spices for the kitchen ;). Rethymno is just a 10-15 minutes drive away and the Lidl or other supermarkets just 7 minutes. We really got the 5 stars experience and the villa felt like home very quickly. I would recommend this villa to everyone! Just make sure to rent a car, so you can travel to other cities easily. Beautiful stone villa perfect for our family! The weather was too cool to utilize the pool but we enjoyed a glass of wine outside in the picturesque settings. When booking, we made the assumption the smaller pool was the hot tub/jacuzzi however it is a smaller (not heated) pool for younger children. The jacuzzi is in the master bedroom. We were very sad to say goodbye to this home.

We had a fantastic time at the villa, it’s easily the best villa we’ve ever stayed in. It’s better than the photos - which is a rare thing. The view is amazing and it’s super peaceful. A fan base for exploring beautiful Crete. The owner Giannis met us at the villa and had even bought groceries for us including a lovely bottle of local wine, such a nice touch to start our holiday. He’s really welcoming and had plenty of good recommendations for us. The pool is fantastic and our girls really enjoyed themselves playing. Lake Kourna is a must visit and you’ve a beautiful view of it from the villa. Thanks for a truly memorable stay - We will certainly stay here again.

We had a really great time there. The apartment is very nice and clean, everything as in the pictures. Sofia was always available and always made sure that we had everything we needed. We can only recommend everyone to go there. We would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you for everything.

Maryellen communicated really well before and during the stay. The house is a fantastic location but you need a car or taxi to get to local restaurants and into Chania. Maryellen even booked the taxi for us to Chania. The house is fully equipped with everything. The views are amazing over looking the sea. The outside space is great with magical pool. It’s on a hill so probably not suitable for people who find it difficult with stairs and because the pool is an infinity pool you would need to be careful of children in the pool. The house is private and in a quiet location. We will be going back, one of the best Airbnb we have been to.
