It was a perfect location for our Merrie Monarch trip! The place was clean and kitchen was well equipped. The complex was safe with security elevator and security personnel on site. Communication was spot on with check in instructions, quick responses, etc. thank you for a great experience. Mahalo nui

This place is comfortable, quiet and secure. The studio unit was advertised in the listing and pictures. The bed was comfortable and I had everything I needed for over a week long stay. Josh communicated everything I needed for an easy check in and quickly responded to my questions.

Delbert’s place was a great home base for exploring Hilo & the other parts of the Big Island. Walking distance to the main bus terminal, supermarkets, restaurants, & laundromat. The fountain outside the window helped me fall sound asleep every night. Delbert even hand delivered coffee filters when I informed him there weren’t enough coffee filters for my stay. I would love to stay here again next time I’m in Hilo. Mahalo, Delbert!

Beautiful home with plenty of room and beds for our family visiting from Ohio. We got in late and left early during quiet hours. Managed to get great sleep. Loved the views from the back and kitchen and listening to nature and having fresh air from the windows. Loved visiting Hilo and this was a good spot close to the airport and nice drive to Volcano's National Park and Punalu'u Beach. Also a quick trip over to the farmers market for some fresh fruit and lunch. Fantastic stay on big island. Thank you Jade

Nadia was an amazing host, the place was great, and we would happily stay here again if we return to Kalapana. We were two adults traveling with an infant to spend a month of our parental leave exploring the Big Island. The place itself was a quiet retreat with beautiful surroundings, and a garden where we could pick fresh lemons, limes and herbs. The neighborhood is peaceful and just a short walk to the Kehena black sand beach, or short drives in any direction to other tide pools or parks for ocean access on the rocky lava coast. The nearest big town of Pahoa is about 20 minutes away and had all the services you could need, including a nice market with lots of local, fresh produce and fish. The bigger city of Hilo is about an hour away with larger stores. The broader area is less touristy than other parts of Hawaii, but it still has a few eclectic spots to visit. If you're comfortable being off the beaten path and you like DIY travel, then you'll enjoy this place as much as we did.

Amazing location and great hosts! Had a great time at Kathy's place - perfect spot to explore the east side of the island. It's close to downtown Hilo, and both Volcano National park and Mauna Kea are a little over 30 minutes away. Would definitely consider again. One word of caution, sensitive sleepers should bring earplugs - the house is in a residential area with plenty of wild chickens. They can get loud in the morning.

After our original accomodation fell through, we booked Marcos' place for two nights. Marcos and his family are very friendly hosts who shared fruits from their trees with us, as well as kitchen items from their own house for us to use, including fresh jalapenos and hot sauce that we used for our dinner! The place was enough room for 2 adults and 2 children (aged 12) and has a very large TV. The only downside was that the bathroom was located outside in another building but since we were in Hawaii we didn't mind, it would be the same distance as walking down a hallway.

Jennie welcomed us with a ton of great recommendations. The area is right in the heart of the strip, awesome restaurants and things to do right out the door. Highly recommend the Pineapple restaurant, the Friday night market, and Puna Chocolate Co right below the BnB. Hidden gems down the road - Shane Molina gallery “Hawaiian Mako Design” - do not miss if you’re a Star Wars or other sci-fi nerd. The BnB was exactly as described and very clean, no issues. Jennie was very responsive to questions and super friendly. Don’t skip on the recommendation board she has, if you have the time. I would give this BnB a 10/5 if I could, unfortunately I’m limited to 5.

Diana was a very good host. the studio is good if you need shower and sleep. Location is close to alot of things. Will recommend.

Unit was as described and clean upon arrival. It had all the amenities that we needed and listed. The unit was older but so are many places in Hilo. It suited our needs and was close to everything. When in town again we would stay again if the unit was available.

My fiancé and I were only there a night, but the proximity to Volcano National Park was unbeatable! We were able to drive to see the volcano while it was erupting very easily from this rental. Beautiful kitchen as well! I would highly recommend if you’re interested in staying close to the park!

Loved my stay at the gecko inn! Gets cool at night which is perfect for sleeping. Very comfortable and private area. 10/10 recommend! It’s minuets from the entrance of the national park

The check in was extremely easy and accessible. Sam left clear instructions, and was very accommodating with the visit making you feel very welcome. The stay is right in the middle of town allowing you to enjoy the very heart of downtown Hilo. 10 out of 10 would recommend 👌.

My stay at this Airbnb in Hilo was delightful! The condo was spotless and well-stocked, including laundry supplies—a nice perk, though the laundry itself was pricey (app payment made it easy). The landscaping was breathtaking, with bamboo, palm trees, and waterways featuring waterfalls, plus ducks and fish adding charm. The pool was clean, but the chairs were worn, and there were no lawn chairs or tables. Inside, the seating was outdated and uncomfortable, though the AC units kept it cool. I’d suggest updating the poolside and indoor furniture. Despite these minor issues, it was a memorable stay—I’d return!

I had the most peaceful and rejuvenating stay near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The home was quiet, quaint, and surrounded by lush beauty—perfect for truly unplugging. The highlight? A private jacuzzi under the stars—absolute magic after a day of exploring the park’s trails and lava fields. While the owners live upstairs, they were incredibly respectful of our privacy. We hardly saw them, but it was comforting to know they were nearby if we needed anything. Everything was clean, cozy, and thoughtfully prepared. You can tell this space is cared for with aloha. If you’re looking for a serene retreat close to nature with just the right mix of comfort and charm, this is it. I would absolutely stay here again.

This place is great. It is surrounded by trees so very quiet except for sound of the nature. Very spacious for 2 people. The location is not very far from the volcano (~40min drive) and Hilo, so I would recommend it to anyone waiting for the volcano eruption.

Great old Hawaiian B&B. We had a fairly plain room, which we expected for the price, but it was clean, and the main rooms with the delicious breakfast and the beautiful surrounding garden made up for it. Perfect location minutes from Volcano National Park.
