Quiet and peaceful. 1 hour 15 min from Kona and same from Hilo. Best to get supplies in Kona or Hilo as no grocery stores in Na'alehu. Is 40 minutes to the Volcano Ntl. Park and 15 min to the Punaluu Black Sand Beach, 15 min to South Point and Green Sands Beach. There is no Wi-Fi ~ cell service works great in the area.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kristin’s home. It was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. I loved stained glass windows! The hot tub was great. We had plenty of warm blankets to make us feel cozy in the chilly mornings and nights. Kristin was a responsive host. We didn’t need anything more during our stay but she reached out to make sure we knew she was available if needed. I would definitely go back and stay again!

Enjoy ocean views & walk to Black Sand Beach!

A stunning ocean view awaits! This property is very close to the black sand beach nearby. Everything is just as we saw in the photographs. Furnishings are comfortable, and the condo is thoroughly stocked with everything from beach chairs and snorkels for the beach to a cooler and ice packs for taking a lunch to Volcanoes National Park. We were impressed with the array of kitchen amenities. Julie is a fantastic host and extremely responsive and helpful (especially when I locked our door code inside!) She contacted us in advance and provided very specific instruction and information. Be kind to the geckos, Frank and Julie, who live on the lanai and eat gnats and other insects before they fly inside. Geckos are absolutely harmless and very cute. :) Be aware the entry to this condo has stairs - this may be of concern to guests who have trouble with them. Also be aware this is a semi-remote area and is advised to get groceries closer to Kona and Hilo. Mahalo for the wonderful stay!

Such a beautiful home and property! Having windows open and waking up to the sounds of nature is so Hawaii. The home is beautiful and the property as well. Vogue could easily do photo shoots on this property and capture the essence of Hawaii. Loved everything about this place.

We had a really lovely stay at Joe’s place! It was super quiet and private and the best way to rest after seeing all of the sights the island has to offer. We enjoyed having the pool all to ourselves a few times and mornings relaxing outside with a cup of coffee and a tropical paradise was lovely. The bathroom was beautiful and it was handy having a washer and dryer! We bought our groceries in Kona and cooked at the condo and had a meal at Hona Hou which was great! We also saw green turtles at both the Black Sea beach and Whittington Park. We would definitely come back again!

Beautiful oasis with a great beach to walk down to. We were pleasantly surprised to find that we loved that beach! It was so peaceful and the waves were often mellow. It is a bit of a drive into Kona, about 45 minutes. There is a lot to do near the house but to get to white sandy beaches you have to go about 1.25 hours away. The house was great. Clean and open. Neighbors are loud at times but mostly quiet. When they are loud though it is really loud. Overall lovely place and great value.

If you want peaceful, beautiful, far from the crazy crowds of Kailua accommodations, Glenn's charming Chameleon Suite is for you. He is an attentive and very informative host, whocan provide you with a wealth of knowledge about sites to see and dinning options. Everyplace that we eat at that he recommended were superb. He is a botanical wizard whose land is truly a garden of earthly delights. Be prepared to do some driving to reach some of the attractions and dining spots, but it is well worth it. We would love to return.
