Casa Aire Libre is a two-story, open air rustic home truly one with nature, located in the forest reserve of the world famous Corcovado National Park with the new El Tigre entrance only minutes away.
“Such a great experience! Mornings are the best here, waking up to so many birds and animals, with a fantastic view. The house is much better than it looks in photos -- feels like a real home with an amazing kitchen and beautiful flower arrangements and comfortable beds with nice drapey mosquito nets to make you feel safe from the insect chorus outside (we came in cicada season). The garden is gorgeous too, as are the nearby trails and Puert Jimenez is easy to reach. Tristan is a fountain of great suggestions and very helpful too. Thanks for sharing the experience!”
Our beautiful garden cabin is right near the beach front, and gives you an impressive view of the sunrise over the ocean. The calming sound of the waves along with the noises of the jungle at night ensure that you have a great night's sleep. A prime location only 30 seconds walk from the untouched, pristine beach, as well as being within the jungle, this property is popular with all kinds of wildlife. Although we say no events or parties, we sometimes have bonfires on the beach.
“The reviews are true...Waleska's place was by far the most wonderful AirBnb experience we've ever had (and we travel a LOT!)...we stayed for 6 nights in the platform tents and fell in love with Playa Preciosa, the sound of the water on the shore in the morning and at night, the howler monkeys and vast symphony of birds (endless Scarlet Mcaws!) that would lull us from our sleep at dawn was so amazing...we didn't rent a car so we stayed on the property and within walking distance to it for the whole time and it was SO GREAT and could have stayed there for MUCH longer than 6 nights and been totally happy. The beautiful, sandy beach with amazingly warm water was nearly empty; we could walk for almost 1.5 hrs along the shore and see maybe 4 other people, (sunrises and sunsets were our favorites times as we were there in Feb when it was quite hot mid-day)...there is a nearby Sea Turtle reserve and we were lucky enough to be able to witness 3 sunrise baby sea turtle releases on the very beach where we stayed...priceless...the breakfasts that Waleska prepares are divine with fruit from her own garden/trees and the delicious gallo pinto..she is such a kind and grounded individual and we loved getting to know her. It felt like super-fancy camping for us with a fan in the tent as well as electricity, nice little reading lights on nightstands next to the comfy bed. The tent was so thoughtfully laid out and we loved to sit on the porch and watch the birds and write about the beautiful scenes all around us... the kindest-ever night watchman Joaquin is an amazing self-taught naturalist who helped point out nighttime critters of lizards, frogs, iguanas and we even got to see a hummingbird nest that he found as well! It was hard to leave there, and I wish we could go back, and we definitely will one day! If you are staying in a tent and you don't have a kitchen I would recommend bringing some afternoon snacks (she can possibly offer to give you a cooler to keep ants out) so you don't have to go to the nearby restaurants for every meal. If Waleska is able to prepare you a dinner as well, definitely take her up on the offer, she is an amazing chef and prepares delicious and healthy meals! We stayed in 4 different places on our trip through Costa Rica and this was by FAR our favorite stop. Thank you, Waleska for sharing your slice of paradise with us. (Note on nearby food: best food/bang for your buck is the pizza at Agua Dulce. The Iguana Lodge is a bit more inviting/better quality food but more expensive.)”
Beautifully designed open air home just steps from the beach.
“This place is INCREDIBLE. My instinct is to downplay how great it is so it remains such a hidden gem. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked (pots, pans, cooking utensils, cutlery and plates). I would grab some oil and seasoning for your stay at the grocery store in Puerto Jiminez. We didn't find the road as bad as some described but we are used to roads in Northern Ontario. Surfing with Eddie and Michelle next door was awesome - highly recommended. The building itself is airy, offers plenty of shade and is very roomy. The bathroom is quite large and we really enjoyed the outdoor shower. The property felt so private even with other houses relatively close by. We saw monkeys, macaws, lizards and bats. None of the wildlife made us feel unsafe. There is so much to do in the area you can easily fill up your time. We hope to be back in the Osa and would love to stay at the beach house again. Thank you Monika, Walter and to the ever lovely Grace for your hospitality.”
