Beautiful home, well maintained. Host was very proactive and even let us know that the area the home was had a power outage prior to our arrival which fortunately resolved by the time we arrived. Pool was a great temperature for dipping into after laying in the sun. Spacious living area. We would happily stay there again.

Michael’s place is very accommodating with all the amenities described. My family travelled from several different locations to be together here and it all worked perfectly. I was bummed that the other visiting guests not staying there could not use the pool, but I understand the liability and respect the rules. All in all, it was a wonderful trip!

The view alone is worth the price! Everything was so lush and beautiful! We felt like we were in our very own private resort. We enjoyed the spacious house itself and the outdoor area. The pool was great and the beds were super comfortable! This was a great base to explore the entire Big Island of Hawaii! I would recommend this home to anyone! Just book it already!

Such a beautiful, peaceful and private property. Postcard views everywhere you look. Clean, comfortable, and well appointed. It was hard deciding each day if we should head out and see the various sites or stay and enjoy the house. By far the quickest responding hosts we've ever had the pleasure of staying with. Our stay couldn't have been any better. We can't recommend this place enough!

We enjoyed the private and peaceful location and it worked out well for our brief stay on that side of the island with a reasonable drive to some areas that were just too far from the west side of the island. The bed was comfortable and we appreciated the AC as my husband gets hot and sweaty at night without it. The frogs were loud at night but the fan helped cover the noise so we appreciated it. We didn't get the chance to meet our hosts but had a great stay overall and would happily stay again in the future.

Beautiful home on the peaceful Hamakua Coast. Our family enjoyed a wonderful and quiet staycation - the pool was delightful and temp was just right with the cool ocean breeze. Kitchen was stocked with basic essentials making cooking easy. Very comfortable sleep spaces - cool breeze at night with windows open. Loved every minute! Suzy was very friendly and responsive. The grounds were so beautiful - lots of flowers and fruits surrounding us. I highly recommend this home as your next getaway. I will stay here again. Thank you Suzy and Peter!

Wonderful rural location tucked away but not a far drive to Hilo, Volcano National Park, several beaches, farmers markets, other beautiful places to explore. The Airbnb had all needed amenities, really comfortable bed, plenty of space, games and books to read, a nice picnic table outside with a tent garage for the car so your luggage doesn’t get wet if it rains when you arrive, and even a robe and slippers which I am a sucker for - makes me feel so cozy when I am away from home! More than happy with our stay, we hope to come back!

Ron was able to accommodate for us during a last minute booking, and did so with very helpful instructions. He turned a stressful situation into a very pleasant experience. Place was nice and looked like pictures. Price was very fair and expected. Would recommend.

We had a few hiccups at the beginning, and Vanessa was extremely responsive and took care of all our needs immediately. The home was beautiful and spacious and had all the extras we needed! Would 100% recommend to anyone to stay at this location, it was amazing!

We absolutely loved The Sugar Shack! It was more than what we expected - the house had everything we needed, and the flow was seamless. Even though we arrived pretty late, the instructions on how to get to the house were very clear, and we found it without any issues. It felt like we had lived there for years, which made it so perfect for us. The location was fantastic - about an hour away from Hilo, nestled in the beautiful SeaView subdivision. We had the opportunity to check out an event at the SeaView park, which was a lot of fun. Plus, we were close to Volcanoes National Park and some stunning black sand beaches. We highly recommend The Sugar Shack - it was the perfect spot for our stay!

Absolutely beautiful home, exactly as the photos show and as described. Located in a lovely neighborhood and a great place to unplug and unwind. Spotty cell service (as expected for the location) but WiFi was excellent and allowed us to make calls if needed, plus there is a landline if needed. All amenities a traveler could need, including beach towels, toiletries, and spices/cooking supplies. Loved the nightlife (literal nightlife like frogs singing the song of their people at night). We felt safe and comfortable in this luxurious hideaway! Would definitely stay again! Yvette was also a great cohost who offered lots of tips for restaurants and sightseeing! We found them very useful and her local insight made our trip even better!

Beautiful house with tasteful furnishing. A bit cramped if the tv is pulled out because the tv is set up on a rollable cabinet but still very beautiful and comfortable place to use as base for exploring the volcano national park. Host is friendly and communicative.

Place was exactly as described. No issues finding once address was provided. Hint: take the "southern" way in/out of the neighborhood, even if longer. Quiet area; but not all that private with homes on either side. You'll certainly see some wild pigs, if not entire families. Lots of other wildlife nearby to hear. Zero water supply issues, but pressure is on the low side. Top loading HE washer and regular drier available and work great! TV plays nice with NTFS formatted USB devices. Kitchen and bath both well supplied. No built in heat or AC; wasn't an issue for us. Both bedrooms have a faux fireplace wall heater and a portable unit is available. Place is rural, which I actively sought out. Just be aware of where you'll be in relation to where you want to go. Volcanoes National Park is only ~20 minutes, but Kona is 2+ hours.

My wife and I spent four nights in the penthouse unit of Jenn and Kristian’s beautiful home. We loved our time there. The unit was in good condition and comfortably furnished and the private rooftop terrace was perfect for early morning stargazing.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This place felt like home in a very quiet and beautiful neighborhood. It was so perfect for our needs. 2 hours to South Point area/Green Sand beach. Less than an hour to Volcano National Park. Half hour to Pahoa beaches and geothermal ponds. Super clean, well stocked with amenities, very responsive hosts. I would absolutely stay here again.

My family and I had a great time here. The place is clean and lovely. My daughter loves the wooden board games provided and she enjoyed playing them. There is also coffee set, which is a surprise for us. We started the day with making coffee and had a good breakfast. And the location is also great, only several miles away from volcano national park, very convenient for visiting the park.

Edmee and Brandy have created a warm and inviting home away from home in their cottage. It is tastefully decorated, the bed is comfortable, and is fully equipped, especially the kitchen. Nice touches are the washer/dryer for cleanup after hiking Volcano National Park, which is 2 miles away, and the gas firepit on the deck, which made sitting out there cozy and comfortable. Mary and I stayed 5 nights, thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and would give the cottage 10 stars if we could.

Wow, this place was such a peaceful retreat! Tucked into a beautiful hāpuʻu forest just minutes from Volcano National Park, it felt super private and quiet, perfect for relaxing and recharging. The Japanese-inspired touches were beautiful, featuring artwork, detailed dishes, and a calming vibe throughout. The furo-style hot tub was next level… soaking under the ferns with cool air and birdsong? Unreal. The fireplace in the living area added such a nice romantic touch to our evenings, allowing us to reflect on our day We were fortunate enough to catch the live lava flow nearby; seeing Pele in action was a powerful and unforgettable experience. It made the whole experience feel even more special and connected to the land. Loved how close it was to hiking trails, great local restaurants, and the weekend farmers market just a short drive away. You truly get the best of both worlds: nature and convenience. Highly recommend if you’re looking to escape the hustle and breathe for a while.

I’ve stayed in many airbnbs and this is by far the best home I’ve stayed in. It’s so unique and beautifully laid out. And it’s tucked away in such a beautiful patch of giant ferns. Kent is an excellent host. Very communicative and incredibly accommodating. He also puts so many personal touches in the house to welcome you. Fresh flowers, beautiful bouquets, and all the amenities you’ll need and more. The house is 5 minutes from the National park, which made for easy trips in and easy excuses to go back and spend time on the deck amongst the ferns. I can’t recommend this place more highly. Beautiful home, the waves put me to sleep every night as well is the comfortable mattress. Kids enjoyed playing Pac-Man and watching the Nena from the back deck. Coffee and the sunrises were the best. Thanks a lot!

Great quiet place with easy access to Hilo and Volcanoes National Park. Enjoyed the lanai with a table to dine out. This is a duplex so other side of the house might be rented to other people. It was a perfect place for our family to use as a base to explore the north of the island.

My great luck in staying at sweet spots has continued, although I’m familiar with the area and knew what I was looking for. Hooray for Hideaway RainForest’s accuracy about their lovely, comfortable, well-appointed home. Such a fab spot I’ll even be recommending it to my ex-husband and his wife for their upcoming trip.
