This is a piece of God’s country in lower Alabama. So peaceful and private. Beds are comfy, house is clean, the porch is relaxing and nice. I loved all the wild life at the house and driving through the property to the house. Made me happy. Thank you, Patricia and Kate! Cheers!

The pictures are beautiful on the listing, but it’s actually better in real life. Just beautiful, the debt goes all the way around the house. You could always find shade and cool breezes everywhere. We didn’t have to leave the house for the sunrise and that was really beautiful. The canal was so fun to have right there. We weren’t sure how much we were gonna be using the canal but we used it a lot! The beds were great. And I love how they have nice toilet paper, it seems like a little thing, but we love good toilet paper. 🤣 We will be back.

The Getaway

This 1950 3 bedroom 2 bath island house was remodeled with a Mid Century vibe. Some of the original features have been kept for authenticity. "The Getaway" feels like you are stepping back in time. It is a wonderful place to ride bikes and you can walk across the street to launch our 2 kayaks. I love our floor plan and the fact that each of the three bedrooms are large enough for a private retreat while the open kitchen/living area is so comfortable for the whole group to be together.

Our stay was wonderful! There was more than enough room for 4 adults and 3 children. The outside space made this listing worth it all. We loved playing in the sand, fishing off the deck, and having easy beach access. We had some unfortunate issues that were out of Karin’s control and she went above and beyond to help reconcile the issues. Highly recommend!

The place was lovely. Enjoyed riding bikes around the island every day. It was windy so enjoyed hanging out on the dock. The kitchen is nice and we ate many meals in. Would highly recommend. Nice relaxing weekend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Wave Hello! It was exactly as described. All the instructions were clear and they were responsive along the way. There was every kind of dishes you could possibly need. It was extremely clean and the use of the beach items was very much appreciated. Really loved the hose on the stairs up to the door .One of the best places I have stayed at and highly recommend.

So lucky to have found this location. We’re from Chicago & never heard of Dauphin Island but came across it, looking for a non-touristy coastline with affordable accommodations and nice beaches. We fell in love with the island. It’s so nice and has a peaceful local vibe. This place is fantastic. Beautiful views and nice clean space right on the water with sand and a dock, complete with crab traps and sand toys and a nice seating area. My 16 year old never left the hammock! We had a 4 yr old, 2 teenagers, and two moms. We were ALL entertained. We literally swam to the private beach, which was cool. We also beach-hopped to the public beaches and stopped at a few shops and restaurants for seafood. We even took a day trip to New Orleans! We watched the sunset from the beautiful deck every night and took advantage of the grill for dinners. I suggest packing in your own supplies and food but the home is equipped with starter supplies and there is a local shop. Highly recommend this place!!!

We’ve been staying at newer Airbnb locations recently, so keep in mind this one is an older home in the bayou. It reminded me of my grandparents’ house. This home grew on us though, and the hosts were very responsive and assisted with any situations that arose. The house is very spacious, and it’s tucked away in a private woodsy area. It’s about 25-30 minutes from the college USA, and about 25-30 minutes from dauphin Island, which has some limited beach access. We also enjoyed going to the River Shack, which was 6 min away and was directly on the water. There is a slight musty smell in part of the house, especially the closets, but the house overall was good. Our family enjoyed a nice quiet getaway. Hosts were great!
