Holiday rentals with breakfast in Midlothian

I had a wonderful stay with Ru and Ian. The house is a quiet and respectful home where all guests are taken very well care of. Ru runs a high end Thai culinary school and offers dinner for guests at a more than reasonable price. The delicious authentic Thai food coupled with many interesting stories from Ru’s life were a highlight of my stay in Scotland. If you want a quiet refuge in the city and like meeting new people, I would highly recommend staying with Ru. Ru and Ian, thank you again for sharing your home and providing such a wonderful experience!

This place is a true gem, a country house in the old style, lived-in but immaculately maintained, set in idyllic peaceful grounds with a (swimmable) river running through them — trout rising, rhododendrons and ducks and hens and even a heron... All that was needed for perfection was the perfect hostess, and Fiona delivered on that score, with a warm welcome, pots of tea and coffee at key moments, delicious home-made breakfast and general willingness to help with everything I needed. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We felt at home ! David welcomed us almost if we were family. The room and bathroom are nice, clean and tidy. We took the bus to city center, very easy ! The breakfast and morning chat were very nice and a good start of the day. We definitely recommend this place !

I had a lovely time! This is the perfect place for a solo traveller to stay while they explore Edinburgh; easy bus connections into town but I also walked it a couple of times. It’s near lots of green spaces such as Holyrood park, and the room itself is clean and comfortable. As others have said, it isn’t a hotel meaning that there will be normal family noises around you throughout the day. There are also dogs and perhaps the mattress wouldn’t be ideal if you’ve got a bad back. As long as you know all this going in, though, you’ll be completely happy! Roisin and her family are friendly and welcoming, the kitchen and bathroom are super accessible and it’s the perfect place to come and go from!

We had the most wonderful stay at Susan’s! Susan and her family were so welcoming and we immediately felt right at home. They have a lovely home in a beautiful area. If you want a relaxing stay in the Scottish countryside with the most delightful family, then I highly recommend!

Hands down this is one of the best Airbnbs we have ever stayed in! I cannot recommend highly enough! So many thoughtful touches throughout and a perfect location. It was clean, cozy, and had incredible views.

My husband and I had a great stay at Paul’s apartment! The apartment is even better in real life than in the photos. As others have mentioned, the communal spaces could use a little attention, though we knew that this is not within Paul’s control. The location was perfect for what we needed, Paul was responsive and kind, and the groceries he provided for our stay were a really, really nice touch. We’d stay here again should we come back to Edinburgh!

Clean and cozy place, she left some eggs, milk and cookies that were really convenient. Comfortable bed!

We had a fantastic stay! The accommodations were exactly as described, and this was by far the best experience we’ve had with Airbnb. David was an excellent communicator from start to finish, making everything smooth and stress-free. His flat is in a great area—convenient, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. He even went the extra mile by leaving us some milk and breakfast items, which was such a thoughtful touch. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and David was a dream to work with. Highly recommended!

Can’t recommend this place enough, fantastic location with great views, lovely hosts and clean & tidy apartment. Easy access to Edinburgh and the airport, when I arrived I got a Taxi from the airport, if I’d have known how simple the tram/bus journey would have been I’d have done that, I did for my return journey. Local restaurants are lovely and welcoming (Saphire & Queens Spice), good pint in the Thirty Knots too! I arrived late in the day, to be welcome with bread and milk amongst other things was just wonderful, simple touch which went a long way! I would definitely return and recommend this to anyone looking Thank you to the host(s)

Beautiful apartment with an incredible view of the lake. Sparklingly clean, well equipped, comfortable bed. Little extra touches like breakfast goodies and local fruit cake, delicious! Loved the window seats too. Beautiful walk around the loch, we saw an Osprey diving into the water. So many interesting places to visit in the Borders, a great place to stay.

Highly recommended. I had not expected so many stairs but perhaps I misread the ad. Very high spec finish and furnishing, and a very generous pantry for my use. Much appreciated 👍👍👍

Great location, quiet at night and very good communication with the host who provided many helpful recommendations in the neighborhood. I highly recommend this place and will it in mind for future trips.

I'm really happy that I chose to stay with Jennet. She is a kind, welcoming and overall lovely host who made sure I was comfortable. Her home is beautiful, clean and calm, and I really recommend staying there. Its also right in the centre of Edinburgh and there couldn't be a better location. As a side note, for breakfast she served me some of her own jams and fruits which was a wonderful touch!!

A lovely, comfortable stay with beautiful surroundings. The property had everything we needed (and more). Location was stunning and we took a walk around the gorgeous estate, which was so peaceful. Wish we could've stayed longer!

Katrina is a charming woman, a wonderful hostess, takes care of every shortage, pleasant, very caring and friendly. The space was very clean, comfortable, cozy and meets our needs. Every question we asked was answered. Katrina provided us with breakfast, groceries, every day anew, even though we only paid for a room stay. The bedding was pleasant, clean towels, a sparkling bathroom and a clean room. The property is very close to a bus station, the ride to the city is fast, the availability of buses is very good. I highly recommend staying at Catherine's home to anyone interested in coming to visit Edinburgh. Katrina is a charming woman!!!!!!

Nothing short of perfection! Danii was so friendly, inviting, and staying with her felt like being hosted by a friend or family member. As a first timer in Scotland from the U.S., this was such a lovely way to begin our trip. The grounds are stunning, so peaceful, and the location is an easy drive from the airport and to the tram station. Danii was so helpful in giving clear directions, giving advice and recommendations for Edinburgh and beyond, and checking in with us daily. I would highly recommend booking and hope my husband and I get the chance to return soon.

It was the best 3 nights and 4 days I met while traveling to England by train, bus, and on foot. A perfect accommodation that is neat and tidy, breakfast consisting of delicious bread and fresh fruit milk juice, dinner in the lawn garden while listening to the sound of the grass, Jo and his husband Stephen, who carefully prepared delicious dishes like a family, dedicated service that picked us up by car from the time we got off the train to the time we took the train, etc. Even for foreigners who do not speak English, the automatic translation machine provided all the necessary information, so they could stay without any inconvenience. I will never forget the opportunity to explore Edinburgh, which was my main goal, as well as Dumfurlin, where the accommodation was located. I was able to fall in love with the ancient monasteries and palaces, the Carnegie Museum, the library, galleries, and parks he donated, and the mysterious charm of the provincial towns. I took the train in the morning and lay down in the Port Walmiorum accommodation in the west, writing a review and remembering the accommodation until yesterday. Goodbye, Jo!

Great accommodation, there is everything and it is very clean. Conveniently located near the city center. In addition, Tom is a great host, welcoming and helpful. We recommend it!

Catherine’s home really was the highlight of the weekend. Herself and Lewis were the warmest, most welcoming hosts we could have wished for. The property was very easy to find, with plenty of parking spaces available directly outside. The property looked lovely and tidy from the outside. Catherine and Lewis made us feel right at home from the second we walked through the door. We were instantly shown to our room and the areas available to us. Every single room was absolutely spotless and presented beautifully. There genuinely was not a single complaint I could have made. Myself and my mum had travelled to Edinburgh for the marathon, and had not had the best time due to the organisation of the event, but knowing we had such a comfortable room in a lovely family home to go back to at the end of a long day made the day so much better. I really cannot fault Catherine’s property and would highly recommend it to anyone. I would happily return!
