Cottage holiday rentals in Mendocino

We’re very familiar with the surrounding area and this home is classic to the Russian River vibe. It’s easy to access Jenner Highland preserve, Armstrong woods and river activities. We found the listing to be accurate and very clean. We did not access the small secondary building but appreciated the hot tub. We also were glad we left our dog at home as there is no grass on the property and several stairs to navigate. It would certainly work for some dogs, but not ours was quite large. We did appreciate David’s immediate response to our request to edit our reservation when we decided not to bring our dog; excellent communication!

We met the infamous Piper! She’s just as sweet as they say…and Royce ain’t bad, himself. The cottage was cozy, warm, inviting, and stocked with everything we could need. It was exactly as pictured, and the hot tub under the stars was incredible. We were lucky enough to catch the annual benefit concert right in the yard (hosts discussed this with us beforehand). Special note: the rooster crows throughout the middle of the night (many times between 12am-5am). He roams during the day with his beautiful ladies and may crow near the cottage in the afternoon. If you’re not used to this, bring some ear plugs or headphones. The location of this property is PERFECT - a quick drive to Fort Bragg (10 min), but feels remote. Follow the directions that they’ll send you the day before arrival and NOT GPS! Make sure you have cell service the day before, because our reception was 1 bar (Verizon). WiFi at cottage worked perfectly. This place was SO homey and the hosts were so welcoming!

The sunsets were beautiful. The spa was hot. And the lake was peaceful. Thank you for sharing your sweet cottage.

Awesome, quirky, and cute. Hot tub is nice, as is the whole seating area out there. If you are a fan of creative spaces, different styles of stays, and don’t need or do fancy, this place is ideal. It is creaky and if you are over six feet tall you’ll have to duck at one spot, but that stuff adds to the cute factor not subtract. Good spot

We had a lovely time at Emily’s garden oasis!! It was peaceful and private with stunning gardens covering the property. The beds were cozy and comfortable! Stocked kitchen ready for cooking and BBQing. We loved the walkability to the river! We will be back!

Karen's place was amazing! It looks beautiful in the photos and even better in real life. It's so peaceful—we saw deer and foxes from the balcony. The wonderful view from the hot tub is also so nice. It's one of the best Airbnbs we've stayed in. Location, privacy, size, etc, everything was perfect. Highly recommended!

Our stay was lovely! The beds and linens were comfortable and the rooms were quiet. The entire home was well stocked and it felt like a second personal home in terms of the quality of items - sharp knives, well stocked pantry for cooking basics, foil, etc. We brought two dogs and it was a paradise for them. The outdoor area is truly magical. The fire pit is great, the downstairs dog shower is handy, and the landscaping is sublime.

We had a great stay at Adam’s place in Monte Rio. The beds were both very comfortable, and the whole space felt really welcoming. The property is beautiful — the landscaping is well cared for, and the herb garden was such a nice touch for cooking. The kitchen had everything we needed, plus a great selection of cookbooks. The hot tub was a definite highlight, and the view of the river made the beautiful backyard even better. We loved being able to swim and kayak in the water, and the neighbors were friendly too, which added to the relaxed vibe. Would definitely love to come back!

We had a great super last-minute stay at Chad's place! Chad saved our ill-fated camping trip to the coast (we were defeated by 35 mph winds at 7:30 pm) - he got back to us within 15 minutes and even sent over someone with clean towels within 40 minutes. His bungalow was a super comfortable retreat for our two families with two toddlers and a dog - everyone loved the outdoor space! I can see it being too hot in the summer months without A/C but we were very comfortable with the fans on. For families traveling with kids, just fyi we were hoping to put the kiddos in the game room for bedtime but weren't able to do so as there's no bathroom access without exiting the house and coming back up the outside stairs. Just wish we had a second day to take advantage of Chad's amazing stash of river gear!!!

Linda is a great host. Cares about her guests. She had the room set to be cool upon arrival. The room is spacious and pleasantly comfortable. The Friday farmer's market is an easy walk, just down the street. Quiet neighborhood.

Our family enjoyed our stay at Sarah’s place. Access to the river was a very short walk from the home. The house was clean and clear of clutter.

My husband and I (along with our 6 month old and our dog) enjoyed a perfect Fathers Day/Birthday weekend at Dennis's cottage! The location couldn't be better - so easy to grab provisions or a quick bite around the corner at the general store, and amazing to be able to walk to the beach in just a few minutes. The cottage is cozy - just the right size for two adults and a dog - with everything you need. Having a washing machine was extra convenient, and the balcony and fire place made for relaxing evenings. We love Dillon Beach and are so happy we found this place! Don't hesitate to book :)

The unit was clean, cozy, and right in the heart of incredible nature! The creek is incredible for bird and animal watching, and Colin is a communicative and thorough host. Couldn't recommend more highly!

A charming stay under a redwood tree nestled in a garden oasis, with beautiful patio, comfy bed, and an outdoor kitchen & bath that was heaven on earth. A truly unique experience to bathe under the stars and enjoy morning coffee by the fire pit. A wonderful redwood trail not far from the property (Grove of Old Trees) was a perfect compliment to our stay at The Perch!

We had a wonderful time at Carolyn’s place. We loved spending a day on her deck overlooking the lake - so beautiful. We also took advantage of her fire table out front. She also had a sturdy fold out table for dining - we initially didn’t see it in the pictures but she actually had everything we needed to enjoy a full meal around a table. Bonus points that we could fold it away for more space when not using! Carolyn was also very responsive and checked in daily on how we were doing. Would love to come back!

We have stayed at this cottage multiple times, and plan on returning many more. Although I stay at other AirBnb’s throughout the country for work, nothing compares to this Manchester Cottage for vacation. The host has the hosting process done to a T. The entire experience, from start to finish was flawless. Other hosts should take note on how to do it properly. The private beach access is definitely the coup de grace of the entire experience, but the fully equipped kitchen is runner up. With 3 sons, having a functional kitchen is a must. Not to mention the gas grill on the deck near the hot tub. Just writing the review makes me want to book my next visit! We look forward to our next visit. Thank you!

Such a beautiful, secluded stay. We brought all our food and cooked in the well stocked kitchen and outdoor grill. We loved the pool table and piano upstairs. The beach is stunning. And the view — second to none! Can’t wait to return.

Wow! This property is absolutely stunning. Private and peaceful, it’s straight out of a magazine! Just 6 minutes from the most beautiful hiking trail, Goodlove Trail and just minutes to drive to some of the most beautiful wineries! We truly enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again!

We were thrilled to find Dan's Cove Cottage on AirBnB. My husband grew up camping at the Wages Creek campground with his grandparents every summer in the 1960s-70s. We brought our own children to camp there when they were little. Now that we're older, it was wonderful to experience the matchless beauty of this beach with every comfort thoughtfully provided for, and every glorious view framed by a window. There is even a telescope! The wood stove was very easy to use, with everything provided, including excellent instructions, but the heating system is state of the art and the fire is more for the coziness and glow than warmth (but remember to turn the heating system down if there's no fog). I particularly liked the variety of pillows available,Dan went out of his way to make sure we knew everything we needed to know beforehand, such as directions, where to shop for groceries, exactly how to access the keys, etc. When cell coverage is spotty, this is a great help to print out and bring.

This was hands-down the best air bnb I’ve ever stayed at. Peaceful, beautiful, well-appointed, and extremely cozy. Jacquelyn’s recommendations for activities and restaurants in the surrounding area were spot on. We fully plan on staying again!

Barking Rocks Cottage is a lovely home, in peaceful surroundings with a wonderful ocean view. Kelly is an amazing hostess, proactively communicating and sharing very helpful local information with us ahead of the trip. Her thoughtfulness is evident in every corner of the very well-equipped cottage, including the generous welcome treats. Every detail is geared towards making your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The cottage is in a lush green dense forest surrounding. Very quiet and peaceful. Inside of the house was clean, very well equipped with kitchen utensils, and had good quality bedding. Pay attention to the instructions sent by the host to find the house as the final dirt road to the house isn’t available on google maps. The house is dog friendly. They even had a dog bowl to use. There’s also a fully fenced backyard to leave your pet off leash. Overall, it’s a beautiful place to stay. 15 minutes away from Mendocino. With proactive and friendly host. Will definitely comeback here.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Bed was comfortable. Hot tub chemistry was well maintained (not always the case). Best of all, such a great location for anything in Monte Rio. We were there to see a concert and could walk to the beach, to town, and to and from the event. And after the event, we could sit out in the backyard in the hot tub under the beautiful redwoods (which were nicely lit) in the evening. Great spot. Would recommend and will stay there again if we ever have reason to be in Monte Rio. Plus Tom was very communicative as a host which I appreciate.
