Kukupa cottage is a three year old cottage on the top of a hill overlooking Kowharewa bay. It is on a piece of lovely land that has another house next door but is very private. It is lovely and warm with everything you need for a winter getaway. In the summer it gets all day sun that needs to be blocked but there are blinds along the front which you may need some of the time. There is a lovely wooden deck at the front also, with a roll out awning.

This time of the year is our wedding anniversary, we always stay in Kororāreka (Russell) its part of our story. We would always stay in the village mainly at the Duke however this year we changed it up and we did not regret it. It was a different perspective and gave us so much more independence and privacy. The view 10/10 and all amenities were well thought out, loved the open bath tub on the deck. Appreciated being told about the availability to check in early as well. Highly recommend.

Well equipped kitchen, big spacious house, great for our group of 5. At least a 10min flat walk to the beach, however a beach cart was needed if taking a beach cabana and chilli bins etc. We opted for a short drive to the beach when we were going for a few hours. Nice walk up the hill through bush to get to Whale Bay which was beautiful.

We had a truly magical time staying at Karl’s hidden gem on the beach front, we were blessed with stunning sunrises and sunsets from one mountain to another over the sea, we felt right at home here, the beachfront was truly spectacular, private and the home was so cozy and so special to be in, we are very grateful for the experience, we had the best time with lots to do and explore in the area, we were constantly blown away by how beautiful and special it was

Susan’s place is so amazing! Surrounded by native trees and birds and just a short walk away from Whale Bay. The house is spacious and beautifully designed. The kitchen is the most well equipped kitchen we’ve seen on Airbnb! The space itself is filled with beautiful things and felt very serene. The outdoor bath was also a treat for cold winter nights. We worked there for 3 days and there were no issues. We were greeted by Susan’s daughter who came all the way to the car with umbrellas so we didn’t get wet! She was welcoming and told us the story of the house which was very special. We’re definitely coming back in summer!
