Family-friendly holiday rentals in Manazuru, Ashigarashimo District

This was our favorite place we stayed during our 12 day trip through Japan. The house is lovely. We fell in love with the space immediately. It’s a beautiful balance of old and new. The host was proactive in his communication. The Food Mart is very close - a 5 minute walk. I was worried about where we would grab snacks and water, but the proximity of the food mart was perfect. There are also several close restaurants and downtown Hakone is an easy downhill walk from the house. Burger Box is very close (not all the way downtown), and the food was great.

We had a wonderful stay at Gabriel's home in Hakone. The private indoor and outdoor onsen were absolutely perfect—such a relaxing experience and exactly what we needed to unwind midway through our trip. The space was clean, peaceful, and very comfortable for our group of four. One of the highlights was how accommodating the host was—allowing us to leave our luggage at the home after check-out so we could continue exploring Hakone without the hassle of carrying our bags. It made a big difference and we’re so grateful. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and convenient stay in Hakone!

We loved staying at this house, there was plenty of space indoor and outdoors. We didn’t use the patio seating area but would definitely come again with a group to enjoy the bbq area. The highlight was definitely the onsen, both indoor and outdoor were easy to use and we enjoyed them multiple times during our stay. Helpful instructions were all over the house on how to use all the amenities and appliances which took the hassle out of using the translation apps. We noticed there was some beautiful walking trails in the area and a Lawson right down the block with bus stops near by if you do t feel like driving. Would definitely come back again with more friends and/or recommend to others.Thank you again!

Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit in der Unterkunft. Sie hat die perfekte Lage als Ausgangsort für viele Ziele in Hakone. Ichimaru war außerdem immer sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben sogar noch um eine Nacht verlängert, weil wir uns so wohl gefühlt haben. :)

This is a truly wonderful place to stay—surrounded by nature and filled with an incredible sense of peace, accompanied by the gentle sound of birds and a flowing river. Honestly, the photos don’t do it justice; the property is even more beautiful in person, and I’m so glad we chose it. Eriko was a fantastic host, always attentive and thoughtful. We walked to an onsen just 10 minutes away, which was an amazing experience. The private onsen on the property was perfect for my little girls (5 and 7 years old), and enjoying breakfast on the balcony with the sound of the river in the background felt absolutely magical. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Hakone.

アメニティが豊富でした

The owner was fantastic and very responsive, even took us to the local grocery store. The house is on the side of the hill in an incredibly quiet and serene location with complete privacy. The outdoor hot bath was incredible, too, and a great way to relax and unwind at the end of the day. Overall it was a great place to stay and would recommend it for anyone staying in Atami.

とても素晴らしいところでした！特に水道水が美味しいのにびっくりしました！ 周囲も便利な立地にも関わらず、富士山が綺麗に見えてとてもくつろげました。 あえて改善点を記載させていただくとすれば、プロジェクターやバーベキューの使い方が少しわかりにくかったことぐらいです。

Michael非常温暖有趣，他的房屋干净整洁，用心装点。其实房屋的位置去附近的城崎海岸、大室山⛰️、仙人掌公园都不远。仔细看Michael提供的guide book，里面有很多的购物、餐饮和旅游建议～伊豆是个安静的海边小镇，天气好时能清楚的在阳台看到蔚蓝的大海，记得沿着房子周围散散步，你会看到邻居的花园正盛开美丽的花朵，还有时不时会串出的小松鼠🐿️和鸟儿～是个放松和享受自然的好地方～祝大家开心❤️🌸

My family and I stayed here for three days and two nights, and we definitely had amazing experiences here. We reached quite late around 7pm but Kyoko-san patiently waited for us, greeted us and gave nice tour around the house. Even the home owner and the other co-hosts were very attentive and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. For the next two mornings, we were blessed; greeted by the lovely Mount Fuji and the view from the house was spectacular ❤️ We came here during the Eid month, so we even had family Eid photos here! Such memorable experiences, and we would definitely recommend this place to others :)

Yuji was really responsive and easy to communicate during our stay. It was an old house but I think the owner already tried his best to maintain and clean it (it’s just too old and had some stain and rust on places). There were trees and bushes surrounded the house - beautiful but yes a lot of bugs, and luckily not much got inside. There was not much to do nearby but would be good stopby to rest for a night. Considering the price it’s totally worth it. I’ll still give it 5 stars in overall.

Very nice villa, with an incredible view! It was very clean and a very pleasant stay.

Booked this place without reading the reviews and solely based on Mr. Hiro’s description/pictures; I’ll use my review to clear up some of the negative reviews and lack stars that this place deserves. This is a Japanese traditional style home. The comforts of the western world that everyone is mentioning, for instance, air conditioning, are not common in Japan. Hiro’s place has an AC unit in the living room, though it’s not enough to reach the bedrooms upstairs, just open the windows and embrace the dozens of birds/nature. This was a surprise trip for my wife; not once did she complain about the stairs (she’s pregnant). Not a valid complaint; You should’ve read the description by the host before you booked. Free parking and easy accessibility by automobile. If you can afford to book this place, then you can afford a vehicle. Again, not a valid complaint. Also, you chose to travel to a mountain and use public transport; of course you’re going to complain about walking up hills.

湯河原湯かけまつりのための滞在でおじゃましました。 素晴らしい茅葺き屋根の日本家屋で、囲炉裏を囲んで仲間と楽しい時間を過ごせました。 珈琲や調味料なども備えられており、お心遣いを感じました。 バス停も徒歩30秒、立地も最高です。

2度目の利用になります。 プライベートな空間が保たれていて、都会の喧騒から離れたい方にはとてもおすすめです。 充分な広さもあり、お庭ではBBQや焚き火も可能です。 基本的なアメニティ、食器、ゴミの分別なども用意されていますので滞在中は何のストレスもなく過ごせます。 室内の温度調整も問題なかったです。 また次回が楽しみです。

是我们在日本住的最好的房子，周边很宁静，房子打扫得一尘不染，有精心维护过的痕迹，房东夫妇很热情善良，从车站接送我们，退房会送我们去车站，我们落下了一个三脚架，房东夫妇开车给我们送到河口湖站，我们准备买礼物感谢的时候，房东夫妇已经把三脚架送到了，所以没有送成礼物非常抱歉。

The host was responsive and friendly. It was a great stay!

Situated within the woods, very quiet and peaceful area. Not touristy and easily accessed by car (although walkable to the lake by foot, it s pretty steep hilly road so may not be suitable to walk for elderly). Very cosy and clean place. highly recommend!

Comfortable apartman, room was more spacious than it looked on the pictures:D However, it was designed for people with smaller stature, so someone who's above 180 cm might find it uncomfortable. Central location, relatively close to the bus and the sea. Many amenities offered, also close to many restaurants and convinience stores. Very communicative and helpful host. :) The only downside is that we had to be careful with the amount of hot water used for showering and dishes. Overall a great experience:D.
