Cabin holiday rentals in Mad River

The HideBehind was the perfect weekend getaway! We wanted something peaceful and private close to other parts of Vermont we wanted to visit. Everything about the cabin was perfect, it was clean, had helpful instructions and recommendations, and Scott and his wife were very friendly and welcoming. The hot tub and electric fire were easy to use and made our stay 100% more enjoyable. This is a place I would definitely recommend, and I myself would come back again!

We had a truly wonderful stay at Leslie's cabin. The setting was peaceful and beautifully maintained—a perfect escape. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed, especially with the thoughtful welcome gift waiting for us. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. It's even better than the photos! We would absolutely love to return. Highly recommended!

My stay is hard to review. Was looking so forward to this weekend getaway but was battle tested with sickness and terrible weather. Nothing bad to say about the listing just bad timing making it hard to fully enjoy. I would highly recommend this stay otherwise as it was definitely capable of providing what I had wanted. Not sure if it was the mattress, the sheets and quilt, the pillows, the Vermont woods, Vermont fresh air, or the rain hitting the roof… maybe all of it… but, my husband and I have not slept so well in… maybe EVER! Rob’s home is super comfy and dog friendly. The hot tub is a nice feature and works wonderfully. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful location for your visit, this hits all the marks. Sitting outside with your morning coffee is a treat. If weather doesn’t cooperate, recommend sitting in the den in front of the picture window. Our old dog truly appreciated exploring the fenced yard, and we loved allowing him off off-leash. Great place to stay!

Easy drive from Boston. What I loved most about the cabin is that it is cozy and had an indoor fire option. It rained all weekend, but the cabin was so cozy! We had no qualms about sitting in the hot tub under the rain, and spending the evening in front of the wood burning stove as the rain pattered on. So close to restaurants in South Royalton!

Such a quaint beautiful home! We absolutely loved the decor, the layout, hot tub, there was little special touches everywhere. It was easy to find and close enough to everything. Highly recommend to other guests and would love to come back and stay longer next time!

We loved Rebecca and Josh's place! The outdoor surroundings were serene and we loved how the place felt tucked away. We were weren't there long enough to explore any trails but we want to come back! There were many thoughtful touches to the place, and fire starters/fire wood provided for us. The hot tub was very relaxing! The inside of the house was decorated very artsy and tastefully! Definitely would recommend :)

Home now after a couple days at the cabin. Feeling fully rested and can’t express enough how much we needed this getaway. Ago and Marty go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and provide you with everything you could need to relax and have a great time. We will be coming back here. Hopefully soon.

A wonderful place to stay. As a host Matthew goes the extra mile. We stay here every year and this year my 7 year old niece visited and is now making plans for next year. Family memories in the making. Thank you for sharing this special place. It's always a joy to go and stay.

We had a lovely stay in the cabin and had the whole camp to ourselves. It was really easy for us to head out each day with our dog and enjoy the lake & woods. At night we grilled and enjoyed the wondering gas fire.

I was so happy staying at Brooke's cabin. There was so much to be happy with, I'll do my best to list them all! 1. Brooke was well responsive - I ran into 2 small problems and she was proactive and fixed them fast. 2. The whole place is super dog friendly! I am often worried where my dog is and isn't allowed in Airbnbs, not here! Brooke even left out dog toys, bowls,and beds as well! 3. All linens were cleaned, even the throw blankets! 4. the trail in the backyard is a nice touch! unfortunately I didn't have many non rainy days so only got to explore some of it, but it is a different world back there! 5. The kitchen is incredible: 3 different ways to make coffee along with a frother and a grinder! the pots and pans are chef's choice! and the knives aren't dull! I was well equipped to cook and theres plenty of space to do so. 6. the bathtub is a godsend! 7. incredible library! I cannot recommend this place enough!

We loved this sweet cabin overlooking Curtis Pond. Great screened in porch, well-stocked kitchen, games, barbecue and fire pit. A great spot to relax and take advantage of VT summer.

Great little cabin for a weekend stay for my wife and I and our dog. Easy access to town for necessities and close to several local breweries. Would definitely stay here again.

Claudia’s cabin was exactly as described- a private little cabin in the woods. The house was adorable, cozy, and close enough to Stowe for skiing (about 25 mins to base). The only minor issues I had were the use of the beautiful soaking tub (unusable due to water pressure/temperature), the temperature of the first floor bathroom( cold), and the amount of dog hair throughout. Disclaimer, I travel with my non-shedding dog so I’m not used to seeing dog hair on my clothing, and perhaps it was the previous renter who had a long haired shedding dog, but it was everywhere- couch, beds, cozy chairs, floor. Came home with hair covered clothing. There’s a sign by the door that says “no outfit is complete without dog hair”! These issues were not enough to complain to Claudia about, because as I mentioned - minor- everything else was spot on. She even had snacks in the fridge. Do bring extra toilet paper and paper towels if you book. I couldn’t find any. Otherwise, great stay.

Had a beautiful time with my family and dogs! Beautiful home and surrounding views. The fire place inside and fire pit outside was a lovely thing. Absolutely no service but WiFi connectivity was excellent. Pre save your destination before leaving the house.

The cabin is well stocked and cozy. The location is very convenient and only few minutes away from the town center and restaurants. We would love to come back soon!

Beautiful log cabin construction with absolutely stunning dining table and well appointed furniture throughout the spaces. It had all the amenities one would expect to find in a fully functional kitchen with a few added extras like a French press coffee maker and coffee grinder. Tasty filtered water available from the refrigerator is always a plus. We picked the right weekend with fall colors on full display with a beautiful view over looking the valley with Highway 100. There was even a fully functioning farm stand at the entrance to the drive up the hill to the cabin. No TV's in the downstairs living space was just right for a family vacation. TV was upstairs near the bedrooms, if you can't do without it. An added bonus included a basement space with air hockey table and a rowing machine. We would definitely stay here again if we were vacationing in this area.

Absolutely wonderful! So cozy, clean and comfortable. Peaceful natural setting. Thoughtfully well-equipped kitchen a big plus, as we prefer to cook in. Would not hesitate tk recommend!

My stay was wonderful. The surrounding area was incredibly beautiful. It was a peaceful place to get away from day-to-day life.

Holy Smokes! So so peaceful and beautiful! My favorite was falling asleep (in the extremely comfortable bed) to frog sounds. Plenty of books and wonderful nearby hikes. We bought some maple syrup flower sprinkles from the farm stand on the property for gifts. The nearby town is lovely with a great family oriented bar called Babes. Would definately stay again!

The stay was fantastic. The cabin is located in a perfect area surrounded by the woods, beautiful trails, a sauna and just so much greenery we couldn't believe it. The cabin itself was incredibly well put together, had everything you'd need and then some. Jess was very accommodating and answered every question we had. 100% recommend!

This was the perfect long weekend getaway. The home was vert comfortable. Great beds and the shower had good water pressure. The yard was beautiful. It was so nice to sit by the fire at night. The kitchen had all the basics and it was easy to make meals. I would absolutely recommend this home for a long weekend with friends or family.
