Daisenji Lodge Ing BLACK|Townhouse4pax|1min to sta
what a gem i was able to find! instructions were so clear and host was quick to respond. The area was amazing, there's a lovely bakery that I was obsessed with near by as well. close to the station so vetting there was easy. The place was so beautiful as well, very old school but made you feel right at home. Would definetly recommend 👌🏽

House with piano and garden
I had the pleasure of staying here about eight years ago and everything was perfect again! Great location across the street from a gorgeous Kyoto icon, Toji Temple, nice and close to public transportation including the city’s mega train station, and wonderful, gracious hospitality from the host. One of my favorite Airbnb stays ever!

Traditional Terrace House. Private open-air bath.
This house is lovely awesome and perfectly clean. Our stay was wonderful and more worth the price. The private onsen inside the tiny Japanese garden is beautiful. The location is very quiet, near the river and less 5 minutes by walk from the station and konbini. Everything you need is provided inside the house, so you don’t have to worry about

5min to Kyoto sta/1min walk to World Heritage TOJI
This cozy home is just 2 mins walking from the historic resort Toji Temple and 8 mins walking to Toji station which is convenient to everywhere we want to visit. This entire home is very quiet and charming. It’s a typical Japanese style decor inside and has everything we need . I’ll strongly recommend here to everyone who wants to explore Kyoto.

Discover the elegant charm of traditional Kyoto
Wonderful place! If you like to be in the thick of the tourist area then this place is for you! Close to the shrines and transport. But tucked away in a quiet street with beautiful surroundings. Acco has clearly done this for a while as she had everything we needed and more! The stairs are your typical steep case in Japan but we just placed a couch cushion over the top at night for our kids. They loved sleeping in the lounge room tatami floor and the futons were the best yet they said!

KyotoTraditional RiversideHouse; Truer Experience
We simply loved staying in this home. The location is ideal for experiencing Kyoto. Peaceful and quiet and yet five minutes to metro/bus stops. And we also walked to many sites and temples. Ume is a gracious host and the home is a beautiful and historic building. We were very comfortable with two adults and two teenagers. Highly recommended.

Renovated 80years old machiya - whole house rental
beautiful traditional home thar really gave the authentic experience. located in a great area, very close to subway train stop and lots to see and do within walking distance. would highly recommend

Kirakuan - a Machiya with a modern touch
Mako was an exceptional host from start to finish. Her instructions on how to navigate Kyoto were so helpful. We really enjoyed eating at her favourite places which were delicious and not expensive. The house is very special and much loved little extras every where. Thank you for the gift left at our door. We would definitely like to stay here again.
Townhouse accommodation with a washing machine and dryer

Entire building for rent, up to 5 people, 6-minute walk from JR Tambaguchi Station, about 10 minutes by car from Kyoto Station
I highly recommend this as the place to stay. You really feel like you've arrived in Japan.

KumoMachiya Konami
TL;DR A perfect blend of comfort and authenticity—don’t miss it. This was our second stay at a Kumo Machiya property, and just like the first time, it was a wonderful experience. Kumo Machiya offers an authentic local atmosphere and pays attention to every little detail—from drinks and cookies to toothbrushes and cooking tools. We’ll definitely be coming back for a third stay next time we visit Japan, and we’re excited to try another one of their properties!

Nagomi・100-year History Machiya/ Garden & Woodbath
We stayed at the Saito family's house with our two sons (14, 9), and we loved it very much! The location was excellent — a short walk to the bus and subway stops, with short rides to major stops like Kyoto Station and Gion. It is also in a quiet residential area, which made us feel like we were living there for a week. They were responsive, and the place was clean and spacious for four of us. Our kids loved the wooden bath and the door opening to the courtyard. We will definitely stay at the Saito family's place when we visit Kyoto again in the near future.

Traditional Kyoto townhouse with Japanese garden
Overall a great stay at a beautiful historic-style Kyoto house. Close to the train stations, convience stores and some great parks and temples. Easy to take a cab or taxi to downtown Kyoto if you don't want to walk or the weather isn't cooperating. Plenty of room for a family, however keep in mind it is a old house that has been restored and they have taken great pride to keep traditional charm - which means it could be challenging for young kids depending on how well they behave. Thankfully, we had no issues. Kyoko was quick to respond if we had questions and once we found the check in location it was a very nice experience and then short taxi to the residence itself. Only thing I would recommend is putting some kind of blinds on the windows as the sun would rise around 5am and without blinds or curtains some of our family would wake up super early from the light. The bathroom, soaking tub and water pressure are all amazing. We would happily stay again on our next Kyoto visit.

Someno House Kyoto - そめの家 (Dog Friendly)
The room is very clean and tidy. The only disadvantage is that it is a bit troublesome to go to the subway station. The host is very nice.

[Kyomachiya Rental Accommodation] 115 years old Kyomachiya Takase River Shichijo
Fantastic place to stay while in Kyoto. The amenities and service were great. The house was perfect for our family of five.

10-minute walk to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a World Heritage Site, Kyomachi house where you can feel history and culture up close ~ within walking distance of Gion ~ OPEN November 2024
We loved our stay here. The location was great, the room was spacious, and the fitout was nice and modern

Kyomachiya Sanyu - A relaxing time with a view of the Japanese garden in a 100-year-old Kyomachi house with 3 bedrooms and parking
We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful townhouse in Kyoto! The space was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly spacious. It was perfect for our group of 6. The host went above and beyond by providing thoughtful amenities like disposable razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and combs, which added an extra level of comfort to an already great stay. Everything was smooth from check-in to check-out, and the location made it easy for us to explore the city. We truly felt at home and would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

Yadoya Hiraiwa: historical ryokan (16+ people)
We had a wonderful stay with family and friends from all over the world. 20 of us stayed and we had plenty of space. We felt right at home. Very convenient location, near Kyoto station but far enough to be in a quiet local area, with small bars and sento! Thank you for being a great host!

[Chen] Near Kyoto Station [5 people] Core old neighborhood 60 sqm single-family house with a small courtyard, wifi, entire place for rent
Great place and peaceful. I also enjoyed the neighborhood with the narrow roads and the traditional look of some of the houses made the place feel more authentic.

Kyotofish·Nishinotoin*Shopping Area 5mins Machiya
We really enjoyed the location and feeling of the home. It’s easy to get everywhere. It’s a perfect retreat to come back to after a long day of sightseeing.

Certified Kyomachiya [Himoewya] Entire house for rent. Walking distance to Kiyomizu Temple, Chishakuin, Yasaka Shrine, Sanjusangendo, National Museum of Kyoto
HiMoewYa is a good host, answered our questions very promptly, even when we asked for a mosquito repeller, she sent us a variety of choices. I will recommend to my friends.

Kyotofish·Rokkaku*Nijojo Castle 10min Machiya
I really liked this Japanese house! It looks totally traditional and cozy. I find the small tree in the middle area very exciting, makes the whole thing very friendly. The decor is beautifully simple and yet tasteful. The location was also great. It is quiet, but still close enough to easily reach everything. Would come back anytime! You are always happy after long tours of the city and the surroundings when you are back:) This is how I imagined my Kyoto experience!

Kyotofish·Fuya*100Yr Machiya*Zen Garden*DT Kyoto
Great place and location. Within 10 minute walk of train and subway stations. Nice to be immersed in the culture within the neighborhood

【Open sale】Kyomachiya guest house Cho an-Kujo
If you’re asking yourself whether or not it’s worth it to book here— the answer is an absolute YES. It is truly one of the most beautiful homes we’ve ever stayed in. The outdoor tub is heavenly and was the best way to beat the summer heat during our stay. The beds are so comfortable, the house was the cleanest Airbnb I’ve ever seen (and I’ve been lucky enough to stay in many excellent ones!), and the location is prime for anything you might want to get up to. We couldn’t be more grateful to have experienced Kyoto for the first time here! Truly the most peaceful place to stay in the most peaceful city. Also, the AC is the crispest I’ve ever been in, which was a must. Great all around!

Kyotofish·Shirakawa*Gion Area Riverview Machiya
The location on the Shirakawa is the main selling feature on this. Peaceful and nice to come home to. We sat there many nights on a floor seat near the window watching the canal. They can set up a futon for a third guest in this area, but be warned they have the best view!! :) There are fireflies at night on the canal. There is some car and pedestrian traffic on the opposite side of the canal and people do look in. The unit was clean and there's not a lot of stuff to clutter the space, which is nice. Furnishings are good quality and in good shape. There's a full steam bath on the first floor and a half bath on the second floor where the bed is. There's a full kitchen downstairs and a combo washer/dryer (takes about 4 hours for full cycle) on 1st floor. The unit could use more places to sit and a smaller dining table, but they're minor inconveniences. The location is great and very walkable to the entire historic area. We spotted 16 geishas in our 5 nights in Kyoto!
