General Info Kandiliotika is a much-loved island home in a magical setting, whatever the season. The small house, which sleep 3 people, has been carefully restored and joined together and it is not only comfortable but stylishly and artistically furnished. The house sits on the side of Mount Neritos, completely surrounded by terraces of trees, and the stillness is only broken by goat bells that float on the air, cicadas that rattle, and the sea that murmurs just below. The position of the house offers dramatic views and breathtaking sunsets, and Kandiliotika is perfect for those looking for a hidden retreat for painting, writing, composing, yoga, snorkelling, swimming, reading, relaxation and renewal. Ithaca is a beautiful, rugged and untouched place which welcomes visitors with its simple pleasures. Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation The island is dramatically beautiful, rugged, relatively undeveloped, green and mountainous with steep blue indented bays and charming little harbours. It’s a small workaday place, never a land of plenty, and even its gradual tourism has not really stemmed the de-population. But it has magnetism, a natural grace, and an energy-giving power which draws in those who need renewal, uplift and inspiration in their lives. Don’t miss a climb at sunset above Exoghi (Out of Earth) to the monastery on the summit, to witness the 360 degree view across the shipping-routes and islands of this archipelago. Ithaca is just a short boat ride from Cephalonia which is just as beautiful and well worth a visit. You will need a car. Nearest beach and and shopping area 3 minutes drive.

We really enjoyed staying here. The hosts were very kind and hospitable. The home and parking is gated and they have beautiful outdoor seating. The hosts also offered laundry service for an additional fee which was nice. They also provided us with fresh linens and towels when needed during our stay. Would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to stay in close proximity to beaches, restaurants, and many activities.

Location was great, beautiful views and walkable to town and local beach. Clean and tidy, and matched pictures. Kioni is a great place to base yourself, and the house worked well for us as a family of two adults and two kids.

Nick's place is great location with an abundance of character, full of charm and described perfectly. Your hosts Dezi and Spiro are exceptional hosts, very hospitable and friendly and gave us a real genuine Greek welcoming with a little ouzo ready and chilled waiting for us, plus two huge smiles as we approached from the ferry which is just a minutes walk away. If you love places with character and charm then this over 100 year old converted winery is a perfect choice. Never in my life have I had the choice of one of the 2 beds built above the wine Vat. I thought I had arrived in heaven but of course chose the sensible king size and very comfortable bed. A real hidden gem, we will be returning. Thanks again to Dezi and Spiro for your warm welcome.

This place is worth it just for the views you get from the terrace - you won't get tired of it during the day or even at the night to watch the night sky (recommend watching the sun rise). The host was very responsive and waiting for us upon arrival. The description mentions there is no hot water but there is. We also recommend going to the restaurant at the top of the hill, Extraterrestrial. The food is great and has the views to match. The place does feel a little small and dated/basic but if you're ok with that then it's worth it. It feels very quiet, peaceful and away from the tourists up there.

The boat house for Susie and I was perfection. A stunning location a few steps from a beach with crystal clear waters, caves, kingfishers and cormorants all set below a fabulous wood. The gentle rhythm of the fishing boats and the friendly local community added to the experience. Demetrie the local contact and manager was superb responding to all queries and requests with calm and patience. We will be going back.

This place is very special – comes with warmest recommendations. We like quiet holidays off the beaten track and the cottage is perfect for this. It’s very private, with a wonderful view over one of the nicest beaches of Ithaca (which also can be reached by foot). Ithaca is gorgeous with lots of hidden treasures to discover – some of the key archaeological sites can be reached within a nice day’s walk. The accommodation is very well looked after, sparkling clean and exceptionally well equipped – everything is there to make you feel comfortable (from lovely olive oil to coffee). The mattress is high quality, and so are all amenities – everything has been equipped with a lot of love and care. The cottage’s exterior and interior is very charming to look at. Tina has been a very friendly and welcoming host, and she’s kindly helped us navigate transfers between islands. This is a great place - we’ve had one of our best holidays ever here
