Cabin holiday rentals in Kennebec County

Just returned from the most fantastic 2 weeks exploring the US which included a weeks stay at Kiwi Lodge. Where to start? This was exactly as described and the perfect base for exploring Maine. The property was spotless and has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. 3 beautiful bedrooms, 2 great sized bathrooms, wonderful living area and kitchen and fantastic games room. Hot tub was brilliant. The location on the lake is just perfect, we had the lake to ourselves and took the canoe out. Nearest town of Farmington has all the shops and cafes you’d need. The communication from Kay was great from the day we booked, and recommendations we took her up on were all absolutely spot on. Thank you Kay and thank you Kiwi Lodge for a holiday to remember!

Absolutely incredible spot. The place is very well taken care of and the hosts have thought of just about everything to ensure you enjoy your stay. It’s private, well stocked, and impeccably designed. Really enjoyed the wood fire hot tub and scenery. Highly recommend.

A lovely cabin in the woods right on the water. Very clean and I thought it looked better and bigger in person. We really enjoyed our stay and had no issues.

Place was exactly as described - adorable house. We had a great time staying at the house. Lovely walk down to the water with SUPs and life jackets available. Owners provided bathroom amenities we weren't expecting and was a nice surprise. Binder with instructions was easy to read and understand. Host was proactive in messaging us important information.

Beautiful location on Whittier Pond with woods all around. The home was so clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. There were games, Legos, and books for inside and a canoe and kayaks for outside. There was plenty of information about local restaurants and activities. We enjoyed hanging out on the patio and at the dock. Jill was very responsive and helpful when we had a small issue. We would go back at the first opportunity! Really a lovely place to stay!

Owner is very professional, communicative, and helpful. House is in a beautiful area of rural Maine. Inside was very welcoming, well-cared for, and a great place to stay, especially for the price by comparison to competitors.

Beautiful spacious yet cozy lakeside cabin, so close to the lake that you just see water from most of the inside of the camp. This cabin has history and the open knotty pine ceiling, walls and floors lend a great deal of warmth to the place, while numerous modern updates/amenities have been added (new/modern bathroom, appliances and deck). We have stayed at many Airbnbs and have never seen one stocked as well as this one - virtually anything a person could want or need was provided: the kitchen had everything you could need and more, supplies, fans, heaters, tools, numerous indoor and outdoor games, kayaks, floats, a standup paddleboard and a plethora of chairs inside and out (including several pieces of antique furniture, further adding to the warmth of the camp). There was even a tree swing and an outdoor fire setup for smores. Our dog loved it as much as we did! Add the loons, eagles, ospreys, sunrises and general beauty of this Maine lake and this is a wonderful place to stay.

My parents enjoyed their stay. They had a wonderful time and said it was a perfect spot for a getaway. The house was fully equipped with everything they could have needed and the s’mores supplies was an extra treat. The fresh flowers on the table were very welcoming. Thanks again for everything!

We felt very at home. The place is even better than the pictures. Nice walking trails near house. The walk to the dock is a little steep, so walk carefully, especially at night. We are already looking forward to staying with Christopher next year!

We had a great stay. I was worried about booking through Vacasa because they are a large rental company that doesn’t have a good reputation for customer service. Luckily, we didn’t have any issues with the house so we didn’t have to contact Vacasa. the listing pics show close neighbors. three houses on one side and two houses through the trees on the other side. If your dog is reactive to strangers, that might be some thing you want to consider. Not a lot of privacy. Some issues: bed linens were rough and uncomfortable. The bed is uncomfortable. The bedroom is VERY small. Regarding the house, it was great for two people and our dog. While there is a loft for additional sleeping for two, it’s a small cabin. It would be a tight squeeze for four adults. Perfect for a couple and two kids though. We loved hearing the loons on the lake, and the fishing was great. We would definitely stay here again. (We may bring our own linen though)

We loved this camp so much. It was perfect for our family of 5, including our 3 kids (ages 4, 6, and 8). The camp was clean and cozy and had everything we needed for our week there. There were plenty of kayaks, floats and toys to keep the kids entertained. The water was cool but we still got in. The view from the sitting area (and of course the water’s edge) was magnificent. My husband did sea plane training at Bel-Air right across the lake and we got to watch him fly right from the dock, which was a thrill for everyone. We smashed coins on the tracks, ate ice cream at Giffords, went on a couple beautiful hikes and just enjoyed being together in this lovey place. The neighbors were great too!

To start we will say the pictures do not do justice to how beautiful the scenery is and how well kept and cozy the cabin is. Our Host was amazing starting with day 1. We did not arrive until after dark and the cabin was a little hard to find even though GPS was very accurate. We were looking for a cabin with no lights on. As we made a u-turn and drove back, our host came out of her family’s cabin across the way and told us she turned on the lights and unlocked the door knowing we would be getting there late. That in itself is the definition of service with a heart. Cabin was cozy for 2 adults and room for maybe another child on the couch. Very clean. Kitchen well stocked with most everything you might need to cook and bbq. Outdoors had plenty of water craft to paddle around the lake. I’m a life long Mainah that now lives in Arizona and this cabin will be our home on every trip back home. Thank you to the Pelotte family for having this amazing spot for others to enjoy.

I stayed at Julia’s place as a way to get away and relax from my busy life. The cabin looked just like the pictures and Julia provided us with an accurate description to get there. Her place was nice and cozy and on the water. Thank you, Julia for being a great host!

What a lovely location with peaceful views. There is traffic but you don’t hear it at night. Perfectly placed between Augusta and Belgrade where there were really good restaurants! If we do IM Augusta 70.3 again we’ll be back!

Lovely weekend getaway! The hostess was incredibly kind and friendly. The place matched the description. The cabins really are quite close though, and even the "honeymoon cabin" is right on the parking lot, only affording slightly more privacy than the other cabins. Other guests were friendly however and overall it was a really beautiful and pleasant stay. Use of the kayaks, firewood and even sauna were easy. I definitely recommend, and would definitely stay again. The setting would be particularly fun for a group of people to rent a several cabins together

I can’t say enough about this place…the online photos do NOT do it justice! The location is super private, yet not isolated. Having the water on 3 sides, just steps from the door was so calming and beautiful. The decor and furnishings are comfortable, new, and tasteful, with touches of vintage mixed in. The non-potable water, outdoor shower, and composting toilet took a bit of adjustment but after one day I had a routine…we spent almost all of our time outdoors and I think my dog never fully dried out the entire 2 weeks of our stay! Lily was quick to respond with any concerns/questions and I felt very respected. I’ve already booked for next year…
