Cottage in Agios Ioannis, Ierapetra
4.86 out of 5 average rating, 71 reviewsPatio House : Charming private village home
KatieRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
Our stay in Agios Ioannis at Luisa’s traditional Cretan cottage was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had! How to sum it up in one review… To start, Luisa was so friendly and helpful when it came to giving us directions to get to the remote village, a flexible check-in time, and TONS of local recommendations. The house itself was spectacular. The patio views of the mountains and sea were absolutely breathtaking and the garden was a private and lovely spot to spend our mornings in. Truly a sacred place, we felt very at home and loved the traditional charm and being so close to nature. We were still within a 15 minute drive to lots of great beaches, restaurants, markets, and hikes, despite being so high up in the mountains. Luisa provided us with everything we needed to have a very special getaway, even inviting us over for dinner in our last night. Cannot thank her enough. If you are looking for the perfect place to experience Crete, this is it! We cannot wait to return!

Of the three places we stayed in Crete, this was our favorite. The home sits at the top of the village with sweeping views of the valley and sea. What makes it special is that it feels like a real home—warm, comfortable, and filled with personal touches. The architecture is stunning and was the main reason we booked; the house itself became our destination. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we loved discovering the trail to the 600-year-old olive tree starts right from the house. We were also within walking distance (though very steep!) to a grocery store, a delicious bakery, and tavernas. We originally chose this spot for its proximity to Agios Nikolaos, but we were so content on the porch and in the home that we never even left! I'd absolutely return to Crete just to stay here again. Highly recommend.

Villa in Achlia

We had a wonderful stay at the Seascape Villa! The views are truly stunning and the photos do not do them justice! Maria was an incredible and caring host/ point of contact and was so responsive, providing special tips and recommendations to make our visit enjoyable! She’s happy to help, and even called ahead to restaurants for vegan options for us - thanks! The separate and very private bedrooms with their own entrances are great for sharing the space. Lots of outdoor places to relax and enjoy the view. The secluded rocky beach is breathtaking and absolutely worth the hike down and up - more for the adventurous type but absolutely doable and worth it! So peaceful and gorgeous down at that beach. Sometimes there is some noise from the neighbors and their dogs, cats, and from the road behind the house which is normal/ typical if off a main road and with neighbors - just flagging that although it is private and somewhat secluded it can get noisy at times. 100 percent would return!!

Home in Sitia

FrankRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
This place is very remote, but with 50m from the sea it is really a magical place. Unfortunately, we only spent 5 nights there, but would have preferred to stay longer. The house itself is not so special, but the location absolutely is. With 100% privacy, you are 50 m from the sea with only a few houses nearby that are certainly not permanently occupied. With Sitia 15m away, you are also back in the inhabited world, with all the amenities available. In short, highly recommended if you like peace and space. Kallia is really a treasure, the house is tip top, and she even cooked for us the first night because we hadn't done any shopping yet. Will definitely come back

Wow!!! This windmill and all of the surroundings are pure MAGIC. We had the most phenomenal time, and felt like we were in a fairytale. Also, the restaurants in the area are phenomenal. Maria is a fabulous, kind, super helpful host as well. You must book the windmill - you won’t regret it!

Great host, great house! Armin was always super professional and supportive. The house was in very good condition and very clean and with dishwasher and vaccume cleaner robot you can easiöy keep it clean throughout your stay. we enjoyed a peaceful time with a fantastic view. The road to the house is not paved and takes some time but it is totally worth it. we did not have to worry about the rental car at all. Whenever you need something Armin is quick to react. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

JoannaRating, 5 stars21 months ago
Gaby's house is very beautiful and welcoming, it has a Cretan charm. In the kitchen we found everything, it felt like we were at yaya's. Everything necessary was there, even more. The mountain and sea views are magnificent, we never got tired of them. The only downside for us was the road/path leading to the accommodation, we would have been more comfortable with a 4x4. We had a pleasant quiet stay in the heart of the Cretan village. The small restaurants in the center of the village offer good food so a very very good pita. Thank you for the cleanliness of the space and its amenities.
