Cannot say enough good things about our stay with Aisho's house. We were looking for an overnight stay during our transit in Narita and stumbled upon this listing. Aisho responded immediately and had such helpful hints. First, she suggested renting a car which was a great recommendation - it's an easy drive from Narita airport and allows you to explore Mt. Tsukuba and the area. Second, she arranged appetizers for our arrival which was DELICOUS. Finally, she gave recommendations on places to eat and how to get to the plum festival. Her house was gorgeous and the bath divine. Her kitchen was well stocked with local items such as roasted coffee and miso which we enjoyed. She had beautiful pajamas to change into. Clearly this is a labor of love and we appreciated the small touches so much. Highly recommend, especially if you are looking for a quick place from Narita/Tokyo/Chiba area. Thank you, Aisho!

A very nice house in a beautiful place. In the mornings we were awakened by the birdsong. The house is clean, spotless, away from the central stations but the place is quiet and enjoyed resting. Every half hour BUS passes and the stop is just 3 min.We had a perfect stay at this house. I would 100% recommend this place. Thank you so much!

[Private Sauna & BBQ] Private Accommodation in Mashiko, Ceramic Town | Kominka Retreat Sauna & Stay Kiyoshi

JoelRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This is a beautiful traditional home with abundant space. The sauna was a nice bonus. We spent time touring pottery galleries, pottery workshops and many pottery stores. We enjoyed the ancient indigo dyeing and weaving studio, the Shoji Hamada Museum. While we didn’t have a car, walking was easy as most locations were within 20min of our temporary home. Thank you!

I had a need for the University of Tsukuba at the academic conference, so I used this!It was very well organized and the kitchen was well equipped. There is also a supermarket nearby, which was helpful for making easy meals on busy nights of academic conferences.I would love to use it again when I have the opportunity!
