KÃNKARWÃ HAVELI is nestled on the eastern banks of famed Lal Ghat on Lake Pichola. This urban residence is part of the historic Kankarwa family mansion, originally constructed in 1800. In 1993 the family embarked on extensive renovations and reopened the haveli, now equipped with modern amenities for guests from around the world.

Today, Kankarwa Haveli stands as one of Udaipur’s premier heritage hotels, proudly managed by the original family.

The space
Lovingly restored to reflect the simple yet graceful elegance of traditional Rajasthan, Kankarwa Haveli is a heritage home that blends timeless charm with modern comfort. Each room is uniquely designed, featuring world-class air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms with 24-hour hot water, Western-style toilets, and refreshing showers.

Kankarwa Haveli retains its old-world charm and feels more like a home than a hotel. With no telephones or televisions in the rooms, the quiet serenity of the Haveli remains undisturbed—offering you a rare chance to truly relax, reconnect, and perhaps even fall in love with the ambiance that lingers long after your stay.

Each room is unique in shape, size, character, and view, reflecting the Haveli’s rich heritage. Please note, Kankarwa Haveli is a three-story property accessible only by stairs, as there is no elevator available.

To maintain a peaceful environment, all rooms at Kankarwa Haveli are non-smoking, with smoking allowed only in designated outdoor areas.

Please note that room service for food and beverages, as well as in-room dining, are not available.

WI-FI internet works in all the common areas of the house, please note we do not promise WI-FI in the rooms.

Tucked away on the first level is a serene, secluded alcove featuring a beautifully crafted Jharokha, offering sweeping views of the lake and the majestic Aravalli Mountains from the terrace. With plush seating and access to a charming rooftop space, it serves as the perfect retreat for meditation, reading, or simply soaking in the natural beauty.

Just off the central courtyard, guests will find an intimate gathering space—ideal for private conversations, relaxing with a drink, or browsing through a curated collection of magazines and daily newspapers.

Other things to note
At Kankarwa Haveli, we celebrate a legacy of vegetarian cuisine—with eggs being the only exception. Our family kitchen, located on the third floor within our rooftop restaurant, is accessible by stairs only, as there is no elevator in the Haveli. Here, you can enjoy a carefully curated menu featuring both Indian and continental dishes, prepared fresh every day.

Breakfast

Served daily from 07:15 AM to 10:30 AM.
Guests with breakfast included in their plan receive a set menu, while those without can order from our à la carte selection.
Lunch and Dinner

Meals are served either ‘family style’ or in the traditional ‘thali’ style. Each thali is presented on an individual round tray, accompanied by small bowls (katoris) of vegetables and dals, with the center reserved for rice and Indian breads. We offer three distinct thali options to suit every taste.
Alternatively, you may choose from our à la carte menu for both lunch and dinner.
Our dishes are prepared fresh daily, ensuring that no two sauces, gravies, or masalas are identical.
Beverages and Snacks

A selection of hot and cold beverages, as well as snacks, is available at the rooftop restaurant from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

How to Reach the Haveli-

By Air:
Maharana Pratap Domestic Airport, Udaipur, is located about 25 kilometres from the old city—roughly an hour’s drive to Kankarwa Haveli.

By Rail or Bus:
The railway and bus stations are approximately 4 kilometres away, making for a convenient 10 to 15-minute auto rickshaw ride to the old city.

The old city is accessible through three main entry points—Chand Pole Gate, Hati Pole Gate, and Rangniwas—all of which serve as ideal drop-off points for guests. Please note that municipal authorities restrict four-wheelers inside the old city from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. We recommend using an auto rickshaw or walking from these gates to reach the Haveli comfortably.

Parking Facility
Due to the narrow lanes and limited space in the old city, Kankarwa Haveli does not have on-site parking. However, we are happy to assist you with information on nearby government-run paid parking facilities. These parking areas are approximately a 5 to 7-minute walk or a 4 to 5-minute auto rickshaw ride from the Haveli.

Kankarwa Haveli has a prime location in the heart of the old City, at Lal Ghat. This is directly on the shore of Lake Pichola where the water caresses the windows and western facade. A five minute walk will take you to the City Palace. Only a short distance in another direction is the famous Jagdish Temple. Boats for hire and shops of every description are available just outside the haveli doors.
