Cottage holiday rentals in Helvellyn

We stayed at Simon and Belinda's place for a week and it was exactly what we needed. Fantastic location for walks and food. The Wainwright's Inn is only 0.2 miles away. Great food and local ales on your doorstep. The cottage is cosy, the kitchen is well equipped and the information provided was very thorough and useful. There are some books in the house they have prepared to show various walks and local recommendations. We did some of these walks and our 5 year old enjoyed every second! We took advantage of the leisure facilities at The Langdale. This was a great addition to the cottage! Really recommend if you want a place near to town locations, walks and local pubs/cafés/restaurants.

What a wonderful place for a peaceful break away. The house was so comfortable with all the amenities needed. The hot tub was a lovely addition too! My son, who loves wildlife photography, absolutely adored the river. He spent every possible moment down there photographing Kingfishers! I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves birds and wildlife.

Beautiful location for a lovely farm stay, great views from the hot tub! Loved being able to watch the cows and sheep. Claire was lovely and was ready to help at any moment despite us arriving so late at night! Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!

Spent 3 lovely peaceful days here! The place is spotless. Easy to check in, but quite a late one for standard check in times. Even with surrounding neighbours there was minimal disturbance.

We had such a lovely long weekend with our grown up children. The cottage was so relaxing . Lovely private grounds. Short walk to two private beaches . We really enjoyed having the optional hot tub and sauna . We played games in the garden , visited some lovely walks. A very chilled place. Ruth and Mark are great hosts. Thank you.

We have just returned from a few nights away staying at this little piece of paradise. If you’re after a tranquil, relaxing holiday then this is the place to stay. From the house itself, to the spectacular views , the amazing pool house and the lovely, friendly neighbours, this place ticks all the boxes and more. Highly recommend visiting The Queens Arms for a meal (or just a cheeky drink), the staff are so friendly and just made our time away extra special. Malham is only a 20 min (ish) drive away and is stunning (a must see). The only thing I would advise is to make sure you take plenty of supplies (or do an online shop for delivery as we did) as the local shop is a 20min drive away. Thankyou again David, we will definitely be back.

Great little bolt hole in the centre of Kendal. Does the job for a few nights, a couple and dog. Close to all local amenities. Furnished really well, very clean, lots of extras. Tight archway to get don with the car, we had a Tesla Y and managed it ok with folded wing mirrors 😉. Well done Gaz, top place 👍👍

We had a fantastic stay at this lovely cottage on Wastwater. The setting is stunning — right on the lake and surrounded by beautiful walking routes, perfect for exploring with our 18-month-old and dog. The cottage is tucked away on a peaceful farm with a great outdoor seating area to enjoy the views. It’s quite remote, with the nearest proper shop about 30 minutes away, but the nearby campsite shop (just half a mile down the road) had the essentials we needed. Other than that, everything was perfect. A truly relaxing break in a beautiful location — we’d definitely recommend it!

We really enjoyed a few days in Ian's spacious cottage, which is in a great location with easy access to Windermere and Ambleside. A well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds were much appreciated.

We had a wonderful stay at Lisa’s - four adults, two under one year olds and a dog! The bedrooms have plenty of room for travel cots and were clean, comfortable and cosy. The garden is stunning and sitting in the little garden hut looking over the mountains around was a great way to start the day. The kitchen is well equipped and in great condition. The shower is really good and Lisa provides basic bathroom items incase you forget any essentials which is a lovely touch. The living space is stunning - plenty of space for the babies to roll around on the floor whilst being contained! The views from the windows are gorgeous. Lisa was very responsive during our stay when we had a couple of queries. Highly recommend!

I have no hesitation in recommending. The property is exactly as advertised and we loved the way the space has been designed and utilised. The bed was really comfortable. We had a long journey to Mosser and were delighted with the beautiful outside area where our dog could run around. Communication with Hazel and directions were all excellent. We had a great stay. We really enjoyed our stay at Emma and Gary's cottage, it is lovely and spacious, the garden was a bonus, and the area is beautiful and peaceful. Emma has thought of things you may need to make your stay enjoyable, the kitchen is well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. We would highly recommend a stay at Emma and Gary's cottage, a great base to enjoy this part of the Lake District.

Alison is a delightful lady. So kind and helpful. Her cottage ( we stayed in Jemima Puddleduck) was very comfortable. Beds and pullows especially and all spotlessly clean. All we needed was provided Alison had thought of everything. We had a fantastic week. Thank you.

The cottage was stunning and in a beautiful setting, ideally located for getting to and around the lake. Highly recommend for a family get away for beautiful scenery and tranquility.

Anya’s house was very comfortable and we felt right at home as soon as we walked in. The instructions provided were easy to follow. Each room had heating which was needed as one night was quite cold. It was great to have a washing machine. The location was within driving to restaurants and pubs and there was plenty of pamphlets of things to do and see in the area. The tiny snug was very cute and cosy. Highly recommended

Great holiday home with fantastic views. Kitchen has all you need to cook with. She had left eggs and milk which was very appreciated. Good location, close to lots of towns and places to eat. Would stay again

We had a wonderful stay at Jennies place, beautiful surroundings and private places to sit and enjoy the view. It’s a very cosy cottage, you instantly feel at home when you walk through the door. Plenty of space for everyone(4adults,3 children) and well equipped. We loved the location as you could take a lovely valley walk up to the local pub and also enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle of a town centre. This is our 3rd year at Mary Meadows and we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else in the Lakes. Well equipped, clean, comfortable, extremely quiet, and so nice of Joanne to knock on the door and make sure everything was ok! Walking distance to the newly refurbished Royal Hotel that serves great beer and food, and to Gowbarrow Fell and the spectacular Aira Force waterfalls. Everything else in the Lakes just a short drive away. Avoid the hustle and bustle and chill out in Dockray! A very friendly neighbour too, who's a bit untidy, but lovely genuine welcoming chap and full of great stories about the area. A highly recommended place to stay!

All you could want from a one bed b & b. Big comfy bed, big comfy lounge, kitchen superbly equipped and a bathroom with bath AND separate walk-in shower. All this and Heather lives next door if you need her. As for location, three local pubs, all good and a great location for exploring the northern lakes. Thanks Heather

We really liked Jim’s cottage. It is a period building, full of character and tastefully furnished. The hamlet of Mosedale is lovely, away from the crowds that blight much of the Lake District, and there’s some great hills you can walk to from the door. This being Cumbria it may well rain, but the cottage is well stocked with games, books and dvds. A lovely spot to stay!

This is an absolute gem! If I’m lucky enough to come back to Penrith, I will absolutely try and stay here again. It is simply wonderful. Jayne was a terrific host and everything was incredibly easy. Really comfortable place to stay and highly recommend.
