Head the other direction and you're half mile from UW-La Crosse's campus, and 1.5 miles from downtown. This is a quiet dead-end street in a lovely neighborhood with plenty of free street parking. Quiet neighborhood just minutes to downtown La Crosse and the movie theatre. Upon entering you are greeted with an open floorplan. All bedrooms are located on one level. The main bedroom sleeps 2. Charming home with hardwood floors, leaded glass windows, and original details in the faculty neighborhood close to UW-L campus and Downtown. Are you visiting La Crosse to paddle, fish, hike, bike, or ski? With bluff views, the Bicycle Professor's Bungalow is close to it all. My home is a ten minute walk to the marvelous Marsh Trail system that links the University to Downtown. I will happily offer tips for restaurants, walks, bicycle rides and places to ski. The Driftless terrain is endless!

The Hidden Gem

The space was nice, with a quirky design and a great location that's walkable to downtown shops, restaurants, and the river. The host was communicative and helpful during check-in, which we appreciated! Unfortunately, there was a strong cigarette smell in the front entry that lingered on our clothes for the rest of our travels across WI, which was disappointing. We were also asked to cover additional cleaning for dog fur, which felt unexpected, especially since the listing is pet-friendly and didn’t mention any specific guidelines like crating or keeping pets off furniture. We’ve stayed at other spaces with our dog and have always received positive reviews, so this was surprising. Overall, it’s a convenient and unique place, and we really enjoyed our stay during our time there, but those couple issues after we left detracted from the experience.

This was a great place to stay! We came for a unique girls weekend, but the sun decided not to co-operate so we did not take full advantage of all this boat had to offer. The upper deck had many places to lounge or sit around the firepit or the bar with great views of the river and marina. We ended up spending most of out time inside and the house had anything that we needed. Very comfortable and luxurious. Everyone that we met in the marina were very friendly. We also felt very safe in this area. The restaurants had good food with a descent price. Dan and his people were very helpful and accommodating with only a phone call away. I would definitely do this trip again.

Clean and cozy. Room in driveway for 3 cars. Host met with us and made herself available if we had questions. Small private deck in mornings to listen to birds. Walkway around cottage is uneven brick so need to be mindful if mobility issues. Shower is small but listing did mention that. Plenty of books and games to explore. Met the needs for reunion of 3 old college friends.
