Er is veel aandacht besteed aan comfort, wat onder andere terugkomt in de vloerverwarming, goede isolatie, de houtkachel en zowel een bad als een inloopdouche. Het buitenleven is hier fantastisch voor zowel jong als oud.

Verder zijn er drie nationale parken in de buurt, NP Weerribben Wieden, het Drents Friese Wold en het Dwingelderveld.
