Villa holiday rentals in Gavalohori

We absolutely LOVED our stay here. It was located in a more local area about 30-40 minutes from downtown Chania. We were surrounded by stunning views in the mountains. It was quiet, peaceful, and private. Sofia greeted us with such a friendly welcome and a delicious home cooked meal. She was very responsive too. We also enjoyed her local restaurant recommendations. The home itself is beautiful, it was lovely learning about its history and how beautifully traditional the home was kept yet equipped with many updated amenities. Note that renting a car is a must! We would highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone.

Very well equipped house, with a friendly owner who met us on arrival. Really felt like a home from home. Lovely, shared, pool. Quiet surroundings in a very small village, with a good taverna almost next door. Good location to explore the north coast, easily driveable to the beach, Chania and Rethymon. We wished we'd booked to stay longer.

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful, well-kept, and lovingly furnished place. Everything you need is there. The host was super friendly and gave us some good recommendations for restaurants and the surrounding area. Upon arrival, the fridge was already stocked with drinks, fruit, and other items, so there was no need to go shopping on the day of our arrival. It was a perfect stay, and we would love to come back.

It was our first time in Greece, Crete and it was beautiful. The house was even better than the pictures, amazing view and perfect for 6 people. The elevator inside the house was perfect and the kitchen was lovely to spend time cooking and relaxing. It definitely felt like home and we wish we could’ve stayed longer 😍 I would definitely come back to this house again. Thank you for everything!

We had a lovely stay at Stelios Villa. Incredible beautiful surroundings, it’s a short walk into Kalyves, we didn’t realise until day 3 but there’s a small parade of beach bars and restaurants if you walk a bit further than we had been for first 2 days. The stay was lovely, the house was beautiful. We really enjoyed the village and it’s relatively slow pace. Stelios was very responsive to messages and very helpful too.

Wir sind mit Freunden und Babys (insgesamt 4 Erwachsene und 2 Babys (8&10 Monate alt)) in die Villa zu Savas & Maria gereist und die Villa war traumhaft schön (noch schöner als auf den Fotos)! Für unsere Reisegruppe war die Villa einfach nur perfekt, wir hatten unsere Ruhe, konnten entspannen und die Kinder hatten auf der Riesen Terrasse genug Platz zum Spielen. Savas & Maria haben dankenswerterweise für unsere Kids alles nötige zur Verfügung gestellt (Babybett, Babystühle, einen kleinen aufblasbaren Pool und jede Menge Spielzeug). Sauberkeit wird in der Villa großgeschrieben, uns wurde die Villa in einwandfreiem Zustand übergeben! Abgerundet wurde die Villa abends durch die überwältigende Sonnenuntergänge! Savas & Maria waren äußert kommunikativ, haben uns super Empfehlungen gegeben und jederzeit erreichbar! Wir möchten uns ausdrücklich nochmal für eure Herzlichkeit, Gastfreundschaft und einem traumhaften Aufenthalt bedanken! Wenn wir wieder nach Kreta kommen, dann zu euch!

We had the most wonderful stay at Nimar Villas. We were a group of 7 and all agreed that it was a beautiful villa and had an incredible week. The view and sunsets are breathtaking, everything looks exactly like the photos if not better. Great host, made sure we had everything we needed and super responsive. Location is great but you must have a car if planning to leave the villa often. Would highly recommend and would love to return already!

Wonderful Experience at the Villa Elias! Our stay at the villa was perfect. The sea view was breathtaking, especially during sunset – a true sense of calm, quiet, and complete privacy. Choosing this villa was an excellent decision, especially because of the heated pool, which the kids absolutely loved. They enjoyed both swimming and playing in the spacious garden. The villa is well-equipped, with many useful items that made our stay very comfortable, including an air pump for pool toys. The location is also great – close to shops, supermarkets, and pharmacies. Beatiful view and nice downstairs appartment with own pool and yard. Parking lot had always room for our car. From parking lot there are deep stairs down to the appartments yard. We came late in evening and it was little bit difficult to get in without light on the appartment door. Pool was great for swimming and view fo Chania and sea bay just amazing. If you have lot of electronic devices with you, take a power strip with you. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet during our stay in April. Really nice place to relax and enjoy life.

Book this Airbnb. Do not think twice. Nice to be greeted with wine and snacks after the flight over. 3 styles of coffee makers with coffee. Sugar, spices, olive oil and balsamic to get you started. 4 bedroom 3 full baths. Great living and cooking areas. Very spacious for our group of 7. Clean and comfortable. Equipped with everything you could ask for. We made a few terrific meals with the grill and kitchen equipment. Harilao has put a lot of thought and planning in to his home. Gorgeous outdoor space with heated pool. Indoors is clean and uncluttered. The views are lovely. 1 minute on walk up the street to fresh bread daily and cute market. 3 minute walk down the street is a bigger market. 4 minute walk to my favorite beach. 8 Euro for 2 chairs and an umbrella. Bar right there if you want a drink. Walk to coffee, pastries, restaurants and bars near by. We loved the home and beach so much that we slipped a few day trips. 5 stars. I hope to come back! We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful villa! The house is truly luxurious, in perfect condition, and tastefully designed with great attention to detail. The layout of the rooms is simply brilliant — spacious, comfortable, and perfect for relaxing and spending quality time together. The heated pool was one of our favorite features — always at the perfect temperature to cool down and unwind at any time of the day. The location couldn’t be better: just a few minutes’ walk to the beach, where you’ll find plenty of great restaurants, cafes, and shops. A very special thank you to our amazing hosts! They were incredibly warm, welcoming, and always just a message away. Every little question or request was answered within minutes — we felt truly taken care of from the very first moment. Die Unterkunft war besser als erwartet. In Realität wirkte alles größer als auf den Fotos. Wir waren deshalb positiv überrascht. Der Blick auf Meer und Berge war schön. Die Gastgeber bemühten sich sehr und kommunzierten wunderbar. Wir könnten uns vorstellen, wieder zu kommen.

A truly unique villa, the views are spectacular and the villa is absolutely stunning. The garden was full of butterfly’s and we picked our own figs, grapes, limes, peppers and tomatoes. The pool was a huge highlight, beautifully designed with both shade and sun. The location of the villa is perfect, both mountain and sea views, very peaceful and there were plenty of lovely places to eat within a 10/15 minute drive. Kostas and his family were really lovely and very helpful. This really is the perfect place to stay.

The house is simply gorgeous. Our family had a wonderful Christmas holiday here. The host was very generous with items in the refrigerator and a well stocked kitchen. Lots of recommendations of places to eat in the area. Michael met us in the driveway upon arrival and showed us everything in the house, that was very kind. Especially loved access to the washer and dryer because we were traveling with kids. It was too cold to use the pool, but if you are here when it is warm, it would be such delight.

We cannot have asked for a better place to stay in Chania. The house is a gorgeous villa perfect for a large family vacation. The location is on a breathtaking hill overlooking the city and old Harbor. There are tons of windows letting in natural light. You can be an old town in eight minutes by car or about 45 minutes walking. There are plenty of local mini markets and restaurants nearby. Michalis was a model host, and gave us plenty of recommendations for day trips, restaurants, treats, activities, and gave us very kind gifts throughout our stay. If we ever return to Crete, we will be staying here again!

A perfect cretan get away. Highly recommended. We had wonderful stay there. The property is very well maintained with modern comfort and traditional charm. We were spoiled by warmth and generosity of the host and locals. Really appriciate the care given by Katerina and Maria. Outdoor area is very well maintained and also the highlight of the villa with the beautifull view of cretan landscape. We also love the two resident cats, even named them Razia(brown cat) and Azra(black cat). We will miss them too.

We had an excellent stay at Villa Logari. Beautiful home that looked just like the photos. Host was extremely responsive and hospitality was top notch… the daily breakfast basket is an amazing touch. The villa is in Xirosterni which is a bit off the beaten path but is charming and we were able to explore the local area as well as travel to both Chania and Rethymno which are each around 45 minutes away. Would definitely return!

We had a truly wonderful 11-day stay at Nikolaos Villa! The pool was absolutely fantastic – perfect not just for relaxing but also for swimming. The kitchen was well-equipped with all the basics, and there were more than enough parasols available, which was great given how strong the sun gets on the pool terrace. The apartment was spotlessly clean, and the location is incredibly peaceful – the only occasional sounds came from some nearby dogs and sheep, and there’s a small quarry not far from the house where you might hear an excavator working for a short time during the day (maximum 2 hours), but we honestly didn’t find it disturbing at all. The connection to the nearby towns and to the highway is excellent, making day trips very easy. The bed was extremely comfortable, and we really appreciated the selection of pillows. Plenty of towels were provided, along with a small starter set of toiletries. We also dined twice at Nikolaos’ restaurant and really enjoyed the food and warm hosp

We, two families of four, have had the pleasure of staying in the Cretan luxury villa in Gavalochori and it was truly amazing. The house had the facilities we needed and more. There’s an outdoor fireplace/barbecue where we would gather in the evenings after coming home from dinner while the kids would have fun in the lighted and heated pool. In the mornings we would get bread in the local bakery and eat at the up stairs terrace with the most beautiful view of mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. We had the luxury of having this place to ourselves which gave us the peace and privacy we needed. We rented a car for the week in order to go on trips if we felt adventurous. Maria, the host, was excellent in sending tips for places to go every morning and if we had any questions or problems, she would reply instantly and take care to contact the right people. Gavalochori is the most charming village only five minutes (charming) walk through the narrow streets with two very nice tavernas. We had dinner at Aris Mari every day. The owner, Anastasia, cooks with love and the place is small, cozy and authentic. We are definitely coming back to this heavenly place.

Wir hatten einen super schönen Urlaub in der Villa. Das Haus ist liebevoll eingerichtet und es fehlte an wirklich gar nichts. Der traumhafte Blick auf die Berge und aufs Meer hat uns jeden Tag begeistert. Die Hauseigentümer Patrick & Jose haben uns mit vielen regionalen Informationen versorgt und waren immer für Fragen erreichbar. Wir hatten eine wundervolle Zeit und kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Sunset Villa - it’s peaceful location and surroundings, amenities, cleanliness and views - oh the views - ticked every box. We had the perfect stay. Doron was easy to communicate with and was very helpful and flexible. We hired a car and visited Chania, Rethymno, Kalyves, Vamos, Lake Kournas (hired a pedalo and saw the turtles) and had several lazy days on Almyrida beach. So many great places to eat down in Almyrida plus several tavernas easily walkable in Plaka. Highly recommend Elpis. Everywhere we ate the food was wonderful and the people so welcoming and generous. Complimentary bread, wine, dessert, coffee, Raki.. The villa offered everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the pool, and having breakfast and relaxing evenings on the terrace. We stayed for 4 nights in late April. A wonderful place in a fantastic location. Everything was as described. It was well appointed with lots of nice touches. They were very helpful with directions, local suggestions, etc. The outside area is large and beautiful. Only minor point to note is that all three bedrooms are on the ground level and there is only one bathroom on that level. The other is small and upstairs by the living room. We would definitely stay here again.
