“This trip to check out Knox College was our first time going to the Midwest, and we didn’t want to leave. My daughter will be going to Knox College, largely due to the generous, down-home vibe of the people. Re: Marian’s place, we appreciated the space that we had all to ourselves. It was very clean, very quiet, and had an inviting quaintness upon arrival. The queen bed was incredibly comfortable, and inside the house, we never felt cold in this February weather. It was also nice to see the canning room, the beautiful homemade quilt on the bed, and to hear that Marian’s mother provides her homegrown veggies to a popular local pizza place in Galesburg. There will be numerous trips from California to Galesburg that my family will take to visit my daughter, and we look forward to seeing Marian’s place again. Anna Stearns”

The Walnut Grove Farm Bed and Breakfast is a turn-of-the-century bungalow that offers the authenticity of a 19th century farm with the comfort of modern-day living. Please note rate is based on 2 people ($120 per night), $30 per additional guests.
“Jan is a wonderful host! We really enjoyed chatting with Jan and learning about the history of the farm and farming in the area. This was a special trip for me, reconnecting with family farming roots in the area that dates back to the turn of the century. Jan's place was a perfect place for the trip and I only wish we could have stayed longer than 1 night. The guest suite is exactly as pictured, a sweet farm house that is comfortable and cozy. The house is equipped with everything that you need along with a few essentials for breakfast which was very much appreciated. The only small draw back is the proximity of the property to the highway which adds a little extra sound when outdoors and takes away for the country feel, but the sound is not noticeable at all from inside the guest suite. Overall, we loved it and would stay there again!!”
