Houseboat holiday rentals in Europe

What a brilliant place to stay! I felt like a child clambering up the steps to the viewing seat at the back, spotting all the unusual items around the place .. really fun. Hamish was a great host, showing us how the place worked. Great little outside space at the back. The whole place felt really homely. The toilet took a bit of getting use to ... so be prepared for an an adventure, but everything worked well including the wood burner, heating and hot water.

Charming! If the film "Amélie" were a boat, it would look like the Bresss'O. His loving and playful atmosphere touched us deeply. Everything served on the small table with the red checkered blanket tastes twice as good. You can watch the mysterious giant carp grazing, see the nimble swallows drinking from the Rhone, and hear the frogs croaking. And hard to believe: no mosquitoes! The houseboat is located on a small jetty near a nice village, where there is a lively bar/restaurant and a small supermarket. Around the village are beautiful groves with all kinds of fruit. We recommend: swimming in the Gardon, cycling on the Route Verte, visiting the market in Beaucaire, drinking pastis in Boulbon. Despite the many advantages, the best thing about the boat is the hosts. Pierre, who took care of everything with warmth and a lot of humor. And Thierry, whose playfulness is palpable.

Everything was great! All of it. Would gladly stay to this beautiful place!

I cannot recommend this boat enough. I wish I was back there right now! What a lovely surprise that it's even better than the photos. Extremely clean, excellent finish, very unique and an overall beautiful space. Location is lovely, a short walk to everything and easy tram access if you don't feel like walking. Leaving the best till last... Sietske is a wonderful and kind host. She couldn't do enough for us and made us feel extremely welcome. Thank you so much for helping make a big birthday even more special!!

We absolutely loved our stay at Anouk’s place. It was extremely comfortable for 4 people and had a wonderful living space that felt comfortable and homely. We loved having access to the bikes and despite having inclement weather it was an easy ride to the wonderful Zaanse Schans and the old windmills. Quintessential Amsterdam! The jewel on the crown was when the rain finally stopped, we were able to experience the stunning canal view from the moored boat at the back. Unfortunately the weather hadn’t permitted us to use the boat to explore the other canals but it is definitely something we would love to do on a future visit. Anouk was fabulous at communicating and left comprehensive information for us to make the most of the area. We loved dining at her favourite restaurant and probably made our mark as we were leaving! (Another story!) Ha! We definitely caught the spirit of the place! Could not recommend this highly enough. Thanks for a fabulous stay 🙏🏽❤️

Great space, great host! Hadewych was so responsive and helpful. I just loved the charm of the boat, it was a really neat experience! The bed was SO comfortable, I slept wonderfully. I do wish the couch was more comfortable though, was not conducive to getting comfy after a long day out exploring. It is an older boat so smells a bit musty and a few cobwebs in the chandelier, but you are able to open the windows and get the fresh air in which is very nice. Kitchen was well equipped, just didn't have a freezer which I wanted to store ice and ice cream etc. Had a problem with the pump but Hadewych was quick to remedy the situation. The location was superb - there was a fantastic grocery right around the corner (the produce is delicious!!), a lot of restaurants, cafes, etc. Overall a really great experience that I will cherish!

Henk’s place was perfect for the type of travel we enjoy. It was easily accessible to the bus that quickly brought you to the train station, would have been even easier on bikes. Mornings would double peaceful on the water, watching the bonded Geese and people taking a morning swim, sail and the occasional rowing team. We enjoyed a storm that moved through one evening. The space is precisely as described. Henk gave perfect directions of how to find it from the airport. Even when I was a complete clutz and dropped the house key in the water, he did not panic or give me grief but immediately hired a locksmith to fix the problem before we returned in the afternoon. Very responsive. The overall Noord neighborhood is perfect to escape to from the city but still be plenty close to enjoy anything wanted.

We absolutely loved our stay. From the minute Tom greated us it felt like a home away from home. The cabin was extremely homely and it was lovely to switch off from the online world. We used the guide book provided and spent a day in Lyme Regis and then West Bay. We loved sitting by the pond and reading a book with a cup of tea. We even saw a deer! Although unfortunately not the white stags! We will be back!!

Probably the nicest air bnb we’ve stayed in. The property was immaculate and comfortable set just above the water and boats yet peaceful and close to amenities. Communication with hosts was excellent and they went above and beyond to create a welcoming stay with coffees, teas and abundant snacks on arrival which were very welcome after our long drive. We arrived late in the evening but the instructions by which we checked in were concise and easy to follow and the lights had been left on to welcome us in. We shall definitely return.

What a fantastic find this was, very quirky and unique, and situated perfectly. If you’re looking for something different this is the place. Very well equipped, and spacious! Wouldn’t say it slept 6, as the smaller double room is not ok for 2 adults sharing so bear this in mind. Probably ok for kids. Went for a girls trip for a birthday and we all loved it! 5-10 minute walk to everything you need in the city. Jelle was great and helpful. We will definitely go back next summer.

A lovely little place with a view to die for. Sitting in the deck, with a fire, overlooking the fjord with peace and quiet (and the odd swan or two!) was an amazing experience. Thomas is a great host and responded quickly to any questions - thank you

Our stay at Claire’s place was nothing short of magical. The location is hard to beat in the heart of Jordaan, steps away from great Dutch cafes, every restaurant we ate at was within a ten minute walk, every one was fantastic. As well as minutes walk from transit. Somehow though being in the middle of everything, being on the water in this houseboat makes you feel like you’re in your own private oasis. Claire has great taste, her home is designed impeccably, with one of the major highlights being the record player, listening to classics like the Beatles, Bowie, The Doors while sitting on the back porch taking in the incredible view of the canal. Bonus was the most efficient washer dryer I used during my 3 week stay in Europe and the large dishwasher. Had we stayed longer, we would have cooked, there was a fully stocked Chefs kitchen. Thanks for the perfect end to our adventure!

We had an amazing stay on this houseboat! The place was even more beautiful than the pictures—cozy, modern, and spotless. Everything felt very new and well taken care of. The beds were comfortable, and the sleeping arrangements were perfect for us. The kitchen was a lovely surprise—stocked with plenty of snacks and great coffee, which made us feel right at home. The marina setting is absolutely stunning and added so much charm to the experience. It was peaceful, relaxing, and truly unique. Communication with the host was excellent—friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout. Overall, we loved everything about our stay and would absolutely love to come back. Highly recommended!

Mandy’s place was exactly as described and was really well equipped - the sauna was a great bonus. It was really clean and the surrounding lake was a great place to take a break from the bustle of central Amsterdam, as well as the town of Aalsmeer having everything you need for a relaxing break. 10/10 wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

This location is highly recommended! We felt right at home and could enjoy the quiet environment, where we also received visits from a few ducks and swans. You just feel relaxed in this environment. Great for recharging, if you come from Amsterdam, for example. In the area, you have - within walking distance - nice restaurants, but also shops for groceries or fun shopping. Schiphol is nearby, but the air traffic could be heard from a distance. No problems. Beds were clean and exactly right in terms of hardness/softness. Kitchen had everything, so cooking is also possible. Bathroom was also spotlessly clean with a lovely shower cabin. In short, WS11 is listed with us as a super nice stay! Next to our location, we saw WS17 (also from Anne): it was bigger and also looked beautiful. Ideal for families. #recommended

We had a lovely time on Renske and Tim’s house boat. The suite was exactly as described and showcased in the pictures. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. Though not in the city centre, the connection via public transport was great. My partner and I spent some time exploring Amsterdam and could afterwards wind down while reading our books on the deck. All the neighbours were very friendly and we highly recommend the accommodation to anyone considering booking it!

We loved waking up to the river. It was such a peaceful way to start the morning watching the rowers go by and hearing the gentle lapping of the water. Easy to access bike rental to get to the city, too!

The firmly anchored houseboat offers a great, relaxing view of the water, the sky and the marina opposite - through the large windows and the good furnishings, even directly from the bed. Everything is comfortably furnished and equipped and very clean, the check-in and the stored information are well thought out and organized. We had a relaxing time for two! (You should only be aware that the boat has a little "swell" in the wind, so it rolls a little in the water with the waves.)

What a visit! We’ve absolutely loved every minute of our stay with Patrick and Juliette, they have created the most beautiful living space and could not have been more friendly and accommodating. It’s a fantastic spot for either a calm getaway or for if you want to do some exploring, and your hosts have excellent local knowledge that they are happy to share if you need recommendations for the area. We had planned to just relax on the boat for the whole time, but we actually wound up visiting nearby areas (Brighton, the beautiful Sheffield Park, local pubs) before retreating to the boat for the evenings, and we loved this mix. Could not recommend this place enough, it’s been our favourite holiday yet and I’m certain that we’ll be back in future!
