Bed and breakfast holiday rentals in Douro River

Quinta da Xandica, located just outside of Valença do Douro village, was a fantastic, and unique experience. It’s rare these days to find an Airbnb hosted by a “real” (boots on the ground) host who is not only there to share local knowledge and accommodates your needs, but literally who also welcomes you in to the ACTUAL family home. It reminded me of a traditional bed and breakfast, in all of the best ways. (Including a lovely breakfast in a dining room!!!) The Quinta was home to Matilde”s great grandfather, and is shared today with her grandmother and father (three generations). It’s a working farm, and an all around charming, beautiful place. Even during our unseasonably rainy visit, the grounds and area was stunning. Practically speaking, the bed was comfortable & the water hot. Dinner made by Matilde was a reasonably priced and delicious with estate wine. We also thoroughly interaction with other guests, the chipped dog, “Bill”, and access to the surrounding area. A treasure!

Dies war unser zweiter Aufenthalt in der Quinta da Cerca und es fühlte sich an als würden wir nach Hause kommen. Die Begrüßung durch Dardo und Bie war sehr herzlich. Die beiden sind einfach wunderbare Gastgeber und Köche! Der Pool und die anliegende Poolbar laden bis tief in die Nacht zum verweilen ein. Das Miteinander zwischen den verschiedenen Gästen ist unkompliziert und herzlich! Mitten in der Natur findet man hier Zeit zum runterkommen und genießen, des weiteren gibt es sehr schön gelegene Wanderwege rund um die Quinta da Cerca die auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert sind! In den umliegenden (sehr schönen) Orten findet man auch einige Weingüter, die zu einem kleinen Ausflug einladen. Zusammengefasst hatten wir eine wunderbare Zeit an diesem wunderschönen Ort und danken Dardo und Bie, dass Sie uns wieder so herzlich aufgenommen haben!

Uns hat der Aufenthalt bei Marta super gefallen. Sie war stets zur Stelle wenn man etwas gebraucht hat oder eine Frage hatte und war immer freundlich. Das Zimmer und die Küche sind wie beschrieben eigentlich echt schwer in Ordnung, allerdings sehen die Bilder ein bisschen anders aus als in der Realität. Man kann sich in der Küche auch ein bisschen Cornflakes oder Brot zum Frühstück machen, aber in der Innenstadt Portos lässt es sich natürlich ein wenig besser brunchen. Nichtsdestotrotz haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können auch nichts an dem Apartment kritisieren. Drei gelungene Tage für uns.

Very nice owners who make you feel welcome. We enjoyed the swinningpool and garden. Breakfast was well taken care off. It's in a quiet envirement, but with the car you can go to Ponte de Lima, Braga or Porto. We enjoyed our time here!

We had trouble finding the place as the address on maps was incorrect. But the host answered his phone and helped us find it. The town is wonderful, view is mind blowing and breakfast is lovely. Wonderful location to the glacial River beach and mountain Torres. What a special place.

I had a lovely weekend at this beautiful manor house. The place is surrounded by nature and perfect for relaxing and unwinding. It’s peaceful, full of charm, and has such a calming atmosphere. The owners are incredibly kind and made me feel right at home, warm, caring, and super welcoming. Truly a special place. I’d definitely love to come back!

prachtig huis in landelijke en rustige buurt van Aveiro, grenzend aan een natuurgebied. Er zijn goede fietsen beschikbaar waarmee de stad en het natuurgebied uitstekend te bereiken zijn. Ana en Francisco zijn vriendelijk en behupzaam met tips over de regio.

J’ai passé un agréable séjour dans ce gîte spacieux, la chambre est belle, propre et grande. Les pièces communes manquent de luminosité mais sont spacieuses et chaleureuses. C’est un gîte donc la propreté et l’ordre sont l’affaire de tous… Le village est très petit, la seule animation est le bar du coin mais il vaut la peine car les gens sont très chaleureux. Il y a des jeux pour les enfants et une église à proximité du gîte. J’ai passé une agréable soirée avec les habitants du gîte et ceux du village.

De passage pour un mariage au Portugal, nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour. Hôte très accueillant, propreté irréprochable, hôte très serviable. Nous avons passés un très bon séjour.

Die Umgebung ist einzigartig.....Caroline und Gregory kümmerten sich fürsorglich um um mich....Vielen Dank für die wunderbaren Gespräche! Der Ausblick auf die Berge ist einzigartig. Ich durfte sehr viele positive Einblicke erleben. Vielen lieben Dank dafür! Gerne komme ich wieder...

The place is stunning and a perfect get away. Very peaceful with an amazing view and amazing breakfast! The instructions to find the Quinta were clear and after a first confusion in the town easy to find (just follow the signs). The dirt road leading there was a bit scary at first, but was perfectly fine. Deri welcomed us and gave some great recommendations for restaurants in the neighboring towns (would have loved to try the dinner in house but wasn’t available at the time), which we tried and loved. Wifi didn’t reach our room, but we didn’t mind that too much. We would definitely come back to relax and enjoy more of the surrounding area.

Nous avons passé une nuit très calme dans ce gîte. La chambre était très bien équipée, confortable et le quartier est particulièrement calme. L'arrivée était facile, Leticia était là pour nous accueillir et tout nous expliquer. La seule remarque que nous avons à faire : l'annonce indiquait un petit déjeuner ce qui n'était pas le cas pour notre séjour. (Leticia n'était pas là le matin, nous n'avons pas pu lui poser la question). Mais dans l'ensemble la nuit était parfaite!

Wonderful house! We felt right at home, hosts made us breakfast every day, and gave us excellent recommendations for local food and activities. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in Tondela and looking for a peaceful, relaxing place to stay.

Do not hesitate to book a stay at Jonah and Sonia's bed and breakfast. First, the breakfast is excellent and generous. Second, the room itself and all the amenities are top-notch, comfortable, stylish, and cozy. The location was also great and close to the city center. Granted, there is a lot of elevation change going to and from and city center, but that's a very small price to pay for staying in a quiet, residential neighborhood in Coimbra, which is, of course, built on a hill. Jonah and Sonia were also very gracious hosts, offering to give us recommendations and checking in to see that we were comfortable. Such a far better experience than staying in a hotel or traditional Airbnb. Also, can confirm there is ample street parking nearby.

La casa es expectacular y las habitaciones son preciosas, decoradas con muchísimo gusto. El desayuno increible y los anfitriones super amables y atentos. Totalmente recomendable!

Très grande maison avec tout ce qu'on a besoin. Nous étions 14 et avons occupés 7 chambres avec chacune une salle de bain. Le réfrigérateur a fait défaut et Tiago l'a remplacé la journée même. Endroit parfait pour visiter le Douro et les villes avoisinantes mais un peu loin pour Porto. L'accès à la maison se fait par la rue arrière.

A really lovely room just like the photos. The family were all very welcoming and helpful. They allowed us to check in early as the room was ready and looked after our bags on our last day .We had a fantastic meal one evening in their restaurant, not to be missed . The only down side was it’s a reasonable walk to the old town of Porto but if you don’t mind that it’s a lovely place to stay

Sehr schönes Zimmer, zentral gelegen. Kurt ist ein sehr herzlicher Gastgeber. Gute Tips für die Stadt und Ausflüge in der Umgebung. Sehr zu empfehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.
