Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Decorah

We stayed at James’ place for our 25th anniversary and I’m so glad we did. We were hoping for peace, nature, hiking and to be able to include our dogs. The location was perfect - so secluded, yet not far from hiking, restaurants, etc. The cabin was clean and well-appointed, having everything we needed, plus extra items in case you’d forgotten something. I appreciated the easy-going communication and would love to stay again if we get the chance!

A perfect place for our girls get away. It was a short walk to down town. Very clean and comfortable. Nice kitchen and bathroom. Beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the outdoor patio and all the extra touches like a well stocked coffee bar and even wood in the firepit. It had cute furnishings and the host was quick to repond to questions. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect for my family to gather for the annual deer hunt. Always a pleasure staying here.

I loved our stay with Ashley at Paint Creek Place! It was quiet, peaceful and clean! The place was very cozy and allowed us to watch tv, cook, enjoy nature and disconnect! We also brought along our dog who very much enjoyed the creek and the smells along the way. Thank you Ashley! I would stay again :)

Great place with a great location! Plenty of room for a family of 5 and we were within walking distance to everything on Water Street!

What a perfect girls weekend at Chimney Rock Retreat. Secluded and perched atop a classic Driftless hill, we didn’t leave the property once! We cooked in the well equipped full kitchen, sat on the deck listening to the birds, walked the woods and stayed up all night talking in the cozy living room. We also had two littles in tow and it was such a relief that the house was outfitted with toys and that they could roam the safe, beautiful grounds - far from the road or any hazards. Thank you for a deeply restorative weekend! We plan to return next year.

What a joy to get to stay at this beautiful property!! We enjoyed hiking, fishing, sitting around the fire pit, and watching a movie in the living room. The amazing home is lovely- very comfortable and well-stocked with bedding, towels, and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and grilling - even basic seasonings. We went to Decorah and Waukon for shopping and to look around, but wanted to soak in as much time as we could on the property near the streams. We saw a bald eagle fly low several times! Also deer, an otter, lots of birds, including a hummingbird, frogs, mayflies, and a painted turtle. The guys caught brown trout, rainbow trout, and even a white sucker fish. We all had a wonderful time and felt sad to leave. We hope to return in the near future. Grateful for this lovely getaway.

Absolutely loved staying at Dan's Place. Although I had tried to get a place in town for Luther graduation, Dan's house turned out to be perfect. It was only a 15 min drive from Decorah, and it was so idyllic country living. None of us had ever stayed out in a rural farm like setting before, so it was really a dream. The red barn and the cows down the street! The house was certainly big enough for 4 of us. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The bedrooms are large as are the beds with lots of storage. Two baths were spic n span clean with lots of towels for all of us.

Great location, walkable to downtown. Janet's place was clean and comfortable, had everything you need.

Shauna’s apartment was cozy, spacious, bright, and in an ideal location. Parking was easy. The downtown shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores are all right around the corner. We had great hiking options within 10-15 min in all directions. Cleaning/check-out instructions were quick and clear. Shauna was a fantastic host— we would love to return!

Jessica's place was the perfect place to stay! I came to Decorah to see my daughter graduate Luther College and it was an absolutely perfect getaway! Thank you so much for your hospitality and help when I locked my self out of the Airbnb!!

Norma Jean & Daryl are welcoming, kind hosts with an absolutely beautiful property! They were attentive to our safety as there was winter weather and helpful at every turn. My friend & I were celebrating a milestone birthday and had a perfect stay at their place.

Had a lovely stay in this cozy river town. The house was perfectly clean and had more accommodations than expected. Our host was close by but non-intrusive and the decor was very engaging and fun. We look forward to returning in the summer!

This is a beautiful property located a block from the activity of downtown Decorah. We were in town for a college graduation and wanted to be near downtown and campus. The property is large, clean, and well decorated. We didn't get to spend a lot of time here because of graduation activities, but we sure slept well the two nights we were in town. I also used the large and fully stocked kitchen to make food for the graduation picnic we had for our daughter. Jamie was a great host and very responsive. I highly recommend this airbnb when visiting the Driftless area.

Eight adults & one toddler totally enjoyed this AIR BnB. It was scenic, we watched Bald Eagles, fished, hiked & BBQ'd. And we made forever memories. The house is spacious & gorgeous. We were in the upper section & enjoyed our time there. My only concern is there needs to be more lighting, in/outside. I am somewhat visually impaired & found the cooking area & kitchen sink was not enough light for me . The firepit area was not lighted & it was a hazard for me to walk in the immediate area. Lighting is needed in upper shower area, too. Other than that, everything else was perfect. Would probably book again, though. Thank you!

Great stay. 100% should check out safe house saloon and grab some pizza. Other than that everything was immaculate. Perfect location. Beautiful scenery

It was the perfect girls weekend house. We had everything we wanted. The home is beautiful. We sat on the deck each morning and sipped coffee and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The beds were extremely comfortable and towels and linen were fresh and fluffy. The kitchen had everything we needed for a short two night stay. The home is ideally located next to a Kwik Trip for any forgotten items and a bar/restaurant next door. It was the perfect home!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The deck was phenomenal as the weather allowed us to use it morning, noon and night. The kitchen space allowed us to have more than 'one cook in the kitchen' without getting in one another's ways. The amenities and extra touches were so thoughtful - Impact Coffee at the coffee bar and a bowl of sweets as we entered - to name a couple. We love walking around Decorah. Since we were in town for Luther College graduation, we had easy access to both downtown and the college. We also had runners staying and the access to the Trout Run Trail was ideal for them. Sean introduced himself to us as we were packing up and we were able to personally thank him for his hospitality. We would definitely stay again.

Great place to stay within walking distance of any need in Lansing. Easy to find and plenty of space for activities. Great owners who are quick to communicate and friendly.

We were in town for my son graduation at Luther. Rather than pay the over price hotels in the area, we choose Tami place & it was well worth what we spent. Host family was incredibly welcoming. Made our family feel like we were home. We would for sure choose this home again! We thank them for making this a memorable time.

Perfect location and scenery if you are looking to get off of the grid but still want access to restaurants and small-town amenities nearby. Host is very responsive and answered all of our questions prior to booking. Everything was as it is described in the listing so we felt our experience was exactly as we expected for privacy, accomodations, etc. We will definitely be booking another stay here in the near future!
